Jude Ndukwe, SA (media) of ex-minister of Aviation, Fani-Kayode released the following Press statement:

We read with deep regret, the purported rebuttal by EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, on our concerns raised about Chief Femi Fani-Kayode’s health condition while in the custody of EFCC. We had made known to the public the fact that the former minister of culture and tourism slumped on Saturday, 22nd of October, 2016, owing to a health condition which he has been treating since his unfortunate rolonged incarceration by the anti-graft
agency.

In fact, it was one of the Commission’s agents who saw the incident and raced to Chief Fani-Kayode’s assistance after which he was rushed to the clinic in the EFCC complex where he was promptly attended to.

Since then, the former director of media and publicity of the 2015 PDP Campaign Organisation has been reporting to the clinic on a daily basis as required by the doctors for continued checks.

More so, Fani-Kayode’s doctors have since sent in a record of his medical history to the EFCC for their information and guidance.

It therefore beats our imagination that the anti-graft body’s spokesman is not abreast with what is happening within the four walls of his organization. This simply shows that Mr Wilson Uwujaren lacks the basic capacity to run an office as simple as that of an organisation’s spokesperson.

Apart from being ridiculous and childish, we find Uwujaren’s claim that the concerns we raised in that statement was “dubious and attention seeking alarm” as not only unintelligent and pernicious but also a reflection of the organization’s staffing capacity which we consider as largely perfunctory.

Those who wish to verify our concerns can visit the Abuja Head Office of EFCC and find out things for themselves rather than rely on a spokesperson whose verification processes of events in their Abuja Head Office is obviously based on hearsay.

We urge members of
the public to discountenance the purported rebuttal and treat it as a product of disinformation. While we concede that indeed Fani-Kayode and Obanikoro shared jokes together on Monday, the incident in question happened the previous Saturday.

We are alarmed that Uwujaren does not know this! Unless Uwujaren wished that Fani-Kayode should not have been revived, we see no reason why he should not share jokes with anyone the following Monday.

The jokes he shared not only with Obanikoro but also with many around him including operatives is only a reflection of the fact that Fani-Kayode has remained his usual self despite being persecuted.

However and once again, we call on all those who have anything against Chief Fani-Kayode to follow the due process and keep a date with him in court as he is very much willing to put an end, through legal means, to this charade baptized as anti-corruption fight rather than them using extra-judicial means and tactics to dehumanize him simply because of his frightening yet very popular and truthful opinions on the state of the nation.

Lastly, we reiterate our earlier position that no harm must come the way of the former minister who has come to be seen by millions of the oppressed, the downtrodden and all victims of tyranny and executive highhandedness as a symbol of truth, hope and liberation.

Immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan has said his era witnessed unprecedented economic growth for Nigeria.

Jonathan, who spoke
yesterday to students of Oxford University on youth entrepreneurship, said the country experienced a growth that proved the truism that a nation’s wealth is not underneath the ground but between the ears of her people. According to the former president,

“Nigeria was rated as the largest economy in Africa and the 23rd in the world by the World Bank and the IMF, with a GDP above $570 billion.” He stated further:

“We identified Nollywood as a sector that can employ many young people and provided a grant of $200 million to boost the industry. As a result, Nollywood became a major contributor to our GDP and in 2014, the industry contributed 1.4 per cent to our GDP.

“Why do individuals that grow up in similar circumstances end up differently, with some as successes and others as failures? Why are some nations rich and some poor? Is the wealth of nations a result of geography, weather, culture, and destiny? What could a leader do to effectively lift a people out of the depths of poverty and enable them to achieve prosperity?

“After much soul searching, I concluded that: wealth is a creation of the human mind properly prepared by education. Any nation that does not spend its wealth and resources to develop the capacity of its youths will be forced to use them to fight insecurity.” He challenged

“contemporary African leaders to see youth entrepreneurship as a collective project transcending national boundaries, adding
“despite incredible challenges, Nigerian youths are achieving great things and placing Nigeria positively in the world map. They inspire us.”

Jonathan also declared that he “worked for the next generation of Nigerians and not for the next elections.”

Defending his administration’s Transformation Agenda, he stressed that it was designed to engage the latent potential in the entire nation, as well as stimulate and enable higher productivity.

He said further: “I am excited to be in the midst of some of the World’s future leaders to discuss issues relating to youth empowerment and entrepreneurship.

"The issue of youth entrepreneurship in Africa is very critical, as Africa is the only continent in which we will witness a population boom. Most violent crises in Africa can be traced to a lack of education and opportunities among its teeming youth population.

"Studies have revealed that there is a symbiotic relationship between youth unemployment and youth restiveness.”

“As a leader, you can decide through your policies to educate the youths, or face the consequences of failing to do so. The transformation agenda was conceived to engage the latent potential in the entire nation, and to stimulate and enable higher productivity."

The Federal Goverment made this known in this statement released by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

A MARRIED police officer stationed in Masvingo Zimbabwe allegedly hanged himself after his girlfriend ditched him.

On Wednesday night, the officer, identified only as Constable Marapira, allegedly sent a WhatsApp message to his girlfriend Miss Clarice Sagiya, directing her where to find his body.

Sources close to Cst Marapira, who was stationed at Masvingo Rural Police Station, said he funded Miss Sagiya's education. She is a final year trainee teacher at Morgenster Teacher's College.

"The misunderstanding followed Clarice's decision to dump him on claims that she couldn't be with a police officer anymore as he wouldn't afford her upkeep," said a police officer who preferred anonymity.

The officer responded by killing himself a few metres off the Mvuma-Gweru Road on Wednesday night.

A source said Cst Marapira sent the suicide message at 21:59PM to Miss Sagiya's Econet line and the message read:

"Vanhu vasanetseke kutsvaga bbody yangu. Mukasvika pa Mvuma vanotena ne Gweru road less than a kilometre pane mota pa side pe road chisango to the left (don't bother yourselves looking for my body. When you get to Mvuma, turn towards Gweru. Less than a kilometre away, there is a car by the road side to the left.)

About 12 minutes later at 22:11PM, he sent a second message which read:

"Ndafira Clarice Sagiya (I died because of Clarice Sagiya)."

Miss Sagiya allegedly took a phone with the messages to a police station, leading to the location of the body.

A source said: "Marapira impregnated Clarice and after that he paid lobola for her. Furthermore, he took her to school and was paying her tuition fees."

The source said Cst Marapira's family suspects that he was
killed. Efforts to get a comment from Miss Sagiya were fruitless
as a man kept answering her phone and saying he was far from where she was.

Masvingo Province police spokesperson Inspector Charity Mazula said she was away from the station and had not yet received the report.

"Maybe you can contact the station for further details," she said.

At Masvingo police station, a Sergeant Cripen Gwashu said they had not yet confirmed the matter.

"We're still dealing with hearsay and are investigating if it indeed happened. At the moment I can't comment," he said.

The suicide comes barely two days after a senior officer at Bulawayo's Westgate Police Station is suspected to have committed suicide by shooting himself.

Chief Inspector Edgar Dube (50), the Officer-in-Charge of the Police Protection Unit at Westgate, used a service pistol to shoot himself on Tuesday morning. He didn't leave behind a suicide note but a Bible, opened to Romans Chapter Two, was found beside his body in his blood spattered office.

The first verse reads: "You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things."

A source close to Dube claimed that he was having domestic problems. Others claim he was unhappy after being rcently transferred to Bulawayo from Harare.

Three men were on Thursday paraded by the Abia State Police Command for alleged sexually abused a 12-year-old girl.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Leye Oyebade, who paraded the suspects in Umuahia, said that the command would not relent in its resolve to rid the state of criminals.

He explained that the three men were arrested in Amuvi village in Arochukwu Local Government Area on October 8 for defiling a 12-year-old girl.

The commissioner said that the suspects took turns to sexually abuse the victim, adding that the suspects were arrested following an
alarm by her guardian.

One of the suspects, Uche Nwaokoro, admitted that he committed the crime and said that it was the devil that made him do it. Nwokoro said that he used to lure the victim to his house with gifts and that he regretted his actions.

Speaking with newsmen, the victim’s guardian said,

“the suspects encouraged my sister to be disobedient and always runaway from the house whenever she is scolded for misbehaving.

“This has been the practice until she went missing for two days recently and upon investigation it was discovered that these men have been sexually abusing my sister.”

In a similar development, the police said an undergraduate in Aba had been arrested for
possessing one Mercedes Benz 230E with registration number UMA 134 HR.

The suspect, according to the police commissioner,
was the leader of a
syndicate and his arrest led to the recovery of another
Mercedes Benz 230E.

Oyebade said that the
vehicle was reported stolen on Oct. 9, adding that the blacksmith that fabricated keys for the syndicate was also in police net.

The police boss said that a two-man gang involved in vandalising street lights and stealing solar batteries in Isuochi in Umunneochi local government had also been arrested.

Oyebade said that the
suspects sold the items to two traders in Onitsha, who paid N22,000 for the six batteries recovered during the arrest of the traders.
