With the Anambra gubernatorial elections drawing near, the political musical chairs appear ever so certain to spring surprises as the battle for the top seat becomes fiercer. Information available to 247ureports.com obtained from competent sources indicate that the immediate former Aviation Minister under the Jonathan administration, Osita Chidoka and a former House of Representative member, Chudi Ofodile have concluded plans to dump the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] for the United People Party [UPP] against the gubernatorial exercise coming up on November 18, 2019. Osita Chidoka is expected to make a public announcement concerning his defection to the UPP in the coming weeks. He is said to have abandoned the PDP partly due to the internal squabbles among the top leadership in the party both nationally and locally. His adoption of the UPP is said to be due to his relationship and sympathy with the struggle embarked upon by the members of the Indigenous People of Biafra [IPOB]. The former Aviation Minister was the person who received Nnamdi Kanu from Kuje Prision – into his vehicle. Osita Chidoka drove away with Nnamdi Kanu from Kuje Prison to an unknown location. Osita Chidoka has publicly expressed interest in vying for the gubernatorial seat in Anambra. It was previously believed the former minister would contest the gubernatorial race under the PDP. Osita Chidoka was also the grand marshal for the Federal Road Safety Commission before stepping up to become the aviation minister. While at the Road Safety Commission, Chidoka brought innovative changes and upgrades to the standard of the Commission. Also, Chudi Ofodile who recently authored the book “The Politics of Biafra and The Future of Nigeria” has expressed interest in joining the UPP and dumping his previous party, the PDP. Ofodile has also expressed interest in joining the Anambra gubernatorial elections. He is expected to make his announcement official in a few weeks. With the injection of the two personalities in the political landscape of Anambra against the November 18, 2017 gubernatorial election under the banner of the UPP, it is expected for the contest to tighten. Prior to the latest development, the gubernatorial race was considered by informed observers to be a near walk over for the incumbent governor – under the All Progressive Grand Alliance [APGA]. APGA was considered the south east party but the emergence of the UPP has upturned the perception among the people of the south east. The UPP has become the new authentic party for the “Biafra Minded” south easterner. Sources who spoke to 247ureports.com from the government house in Awka acknowledged the potency of UPP and its new gubernatorial aspirants. One of the sources who serves as a cabinet member stated that “UPP should wait for their time”. He acknowledged also that the Obiano administration had made mistake in its treatment of the IPOB agitators. “Obiano should not have ordered the killings of protesters and prayer warriors gathered inside a church compound” It is expected the coming of the UPP in Anambra and the south east will capitalize of the mistakes made by the incumbent governor. Interestingly, the UPP national chairman, Mazi Chekwas Okorie had offered the party to the IPOB agitators as a political vehicle for them to utilize to achieve their goals legally. A faction of the IPOB willingly accepted the offer and are working cooperatively to field candidates to the respective races in the near future. The Nnamdi Kanu faction of IPOB has remained mute but welcoming. Chidoka is considered a favorite to win the race. https://247ureports.com/2017/05/16/anambra-guber-osita-chidoka-dumps-pdp-for-upp-the-biafran-political-party/

We remember the TV images of Nelson Mandela in a grey suit, in bright sunlight, walking free from prison in 1990. We might not know that he could have walked free five years earlier. The reason he did not is because the offer made to him by then State President of South Africa, P. W. Botha was conditional. The conditions basically required Mandela to retire in silence, abandon everything he had stood up for, and went against his responsibilities toward his political supporters. Mandela once said, “In prison, you come face to face with time. There is nothing more terrifying.” To learn that he refused release after 22 years of incarceration, despite the terror of it, is more proof of Mandela’s unwavering pursuit of justice. On 31 January 1985, Botha, speaking in parliament, offered Mandela his freedom on condition that he ‘unconditionally rejected violence as a political weapon’. This was the sixth such offer, earlier ones stipulating that he accept exile in the Transkei. His daughter Zinzi read Mandela’s reply to this offer to a mass meeting in Jabulani Stadium, Soweto, on 10 February, 1985. This was the text of his response as read publicly by Zinzi: I am a member of the African National Congress. I have always been a member of the African National Congress and I will remain a member of the African National Congress until the day I die. Oliver Tambo is much more than a brother to me. He is my greatest friend and comrade for nearly fifty years. If there is any one amongst you who cherishes my freedom, Oliver Tambo cherishes it more, and I know that he would give his life to see me free. There is no difference between his views and mine. I am surprised at the conditions that the government wants to impose on me. I am not a violent man. My colleagues and I wrote in 1952 to [Daniel François] Malan asking for a round table conference to find a solution to the problems of our country, but that was ignored. When [Johannes Gerhardus] Strijdom was in power, we made the same offer. Again it was ignored. When [Hendrik] Verwoerdwas in power we asked for a national convention for all the people in South Africa to decide on their future. This, too, was in vain. It was only then, when all other forms of resistance were no longer open to us, that we turned to armed struggle. Let Botha show that he is different to Malan, Strijdom and Verwoerd. Let him renounce violence. Let him say that he will dismantle apartheid. Let him unban the people’s organisation, the African National Congress. Let him free all who have been imprisoned, banished or exiled for their opposition to apartheid. Let him guarantee free political activity so that people may decide who will govern them. I cherish my own freedom dearly, but I care even more for your freedom. Too many have died since I went to prison. Too many have suffered for the love of freedom. I owe it to their widows, to their orphans, to their mothers and to their fathers who have grieved and wept for them. Not only I have suffered during these long, lonely, wasted years. I am not less life-loving than you are. But I cannot sell my birthright, nor am I prepared to sell the birthright of the people to be free. I am in prison as the representative of the people and of your organisation, the African National Congress, which was banned. What freedom am I being offered while the organisation of the people remains banned? What freedom am I being offered when I may be arrested on a pass offence? What freedom am I being offered to live my life as a family with my dear wife who remains in banishment in Brandfort? What freedom am I being offered when I must ask for permission to live in an urban area? What freedom am I being offered when I need a stamp in my pass to seek work? What freedom am I being offered when my very South African citizenship is not respected? Only free men can negotiate. Prisoners cannot enter into contracts. Herman Toivo ja Toivo, when freed, never gave any undertaking, nor was he called upon to do so. I cannot and will not give any undertaking at a time when I and you, the people, are not free.Your freedom and mine cannot be separated. I will return.

UMUAHIA—THE father of leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, His Royal Highness, Eze Israel Kanu, his wife Ugoeze Sally Kanu, have rejected the bail conditions given by Justice Binta Nyako of the Abuja High Court to free his son, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, saying Kanu should be released unconditionally. In fact, both the father and the mother, Ugoeze Sally and their daughter Chinwe, faulted Justice Binta Nyako for the bail condition given to Nnamdi to be freed. Speaking to reporters at Isiama Afaraukwu, Umuahia North Council, Eze Israel Kanu said while the family was happy over the bail granted their son, they rejected the bail condition, saying that the conditions attached to it was not necessary. According to the monarch, “the bail conditions was like giving something with one hand and taking it with the other hand. “The IPOB leader must be set free without any condition attached. “The federal government should release my son unconditionally. The world should judge if the bail conditions are proper”, the monarch said. He explained that he was happy when he received the news that his son had been granted bail by the court, but was taken aback by the condition attached to it. Eze Kanu was not happy with Justice Nyako for asking the IPOB leader to produce a Jewish leader as surety and wondered why a court of competent jurisdiction would demand for a citizen of another country as surety in Nigeria. Flanked by his wife, Ugoeze Sally and daughter Chinwe, the monarch also faulted other bail conditions given to his son, including that a Senator from the South East zone with a whopping N100 million bail bond. Corroborating her husband position, Kanu’s mother noted that if her son eventually returns home she would advise him not to abandon the agitation for the restoration of Biafra. She equally stated that without Kanu’s activities the world would not have known about the problem of Biafrans in Nigeria. “No retreat, no surrender; God will deliver Biafra as He delivered Israel”, she said. Meanwhile, thousands of MASSOB members in Umuahia went into wild in jubilation. In a statement issued by the MASSOB leader Comrade Uchenna Madu which reads thus, “The bail granted to our brother today is a triumphant sign of light over darkness. It is a motivational factor that Biafra will always triumph over Nigeria. I spent almost four years in different prisons from 2005 to 2009 which includes Suleleja, Keffi and Kuje prisons for same purpose of Biafra and was later released. “Know that we are the true representations of Biafra and genuine struggle for the liberation of the people of Biafra”. “Nnamdi Kanu and others won’t be an exception. He represent the interest of the people of Biafra, he is not a criminal. MASSOB commends the efforts of Igbo Governors, some prominent and eloquent leaders like Mr. Peter Obi, Chief Nnia Nwodo (Ohaneze President General), Gov. Ayo Fayose, some Igbo National Assembly members, Nzuko Umunna and other progressive persons for their unflinching efforts in compelling the Federal Government to grant Nnamdi Kanu bail. “As the people of Biafra erupted in jubilation all over the world in celebration of triumph of light over darkness, it shows that we are more united in our pursuit for Biafran actualization and restoration irrespective of our different organizations. We know that freedom can never be achieved on a platter of gold. “MASSOB also demands for the release of other pro-Biafra detainees in other prisons, including those at Onitsha and Awka prisons. MASSOB and other pro-Biafra groups, including IPOB are on the ground, ready to welcome and receive our brother, Nnamdi Kanu”, Madu said. In his reaction, the Chairman of South East Caucus of Interparty Advisory Council, IPAC, Prince Emeka Okafor while welcoming the bail rejected the conditions attached to it, saying that it amounts to denying him his fundamental rights. According to him, IPAC frowned at the bail condition given by the Judge, saying that the Judge has deliberately denied him some of his fundamental human rights. Okafor however commended South East Governors for joining IPAC in calling for the release of the Biafran activist and called for the extension of the bail to others being detained with Nnamdi Kanu. Former president-general of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Dr Dozie Ikedife, has invited Jewish scientists to carry out Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) test at his hospital to ascertain the possibility about an ancestral relationship between the Igbo people and Jews in Israel. The Jews have been carrying out the tests at Nnewi—Ikedife Hospital located along Igwe Orizu Road, Otolo-Nnewi, Anambra state According to Vanguard, hundreds of people trooped out in their numbers, on Tuesday, February 7, to participate in DNA test to ascertain the validity of the claims that the Igbo migrated from that part of the world As early as 7.00 am people had started arriving to take part in the cell screening exercise, while a few policemen were seen in the hospital premises to ensure a hitch free DNA exercise. While addressing newsmen on the exercise, the former president general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, said there had been stories of Jewish/Igbo relations based on archaeological discoveries and mythology, saying he facilitated the Jewish scientist to come and prove the mythology. He said the Israeli-Yaweh group came into the country to take a random sampling of cells from the people in the South-East for studies to carry out a DNA analysis and comparison in Houston Texas USA. “The idea is to establish scientifically the relationship of the two groups of people. It is necessary to satisfy the curiosity and answer the question in the minds of many for quite some time." he said Concerning the possible outcome of the tests, the former Ohanaeze president said: “If at the end of the day, it is confirmed that we are relations, we would remain brothers and friends, but if it proved negative we remain friends. My curiosity is based on the fact that I studied Anthropology as well as Medicine, the result of the cell examination is expected to be out in August this year.” https://www.naij.com/1087122-jewish-scientists-visit-nnewi-test-ancestral-connection-igbos.html |
Nigerian engineer handed written test at New York airport A Nigerian software engineer claims he was handed a written test by a US border officer at New York's JFK airport to prove his tech credentials. A software engineer from Lagos, Nigeria, is claiming that he was made to sit a written test by US airport immigration officers because they weren't convinced he was telling the truth about his skills. According to social networking site LinkedIn, Celestine Omin, 28, landed in New York's JFK airport last Sunday after a 24-hour flight from Nigeria. Mr Omin is employed by Andela, a tech start-up with offices in New York, Lagos, Nairobi and San Francisco. The firm says it recruits "the most talented developers on the African continent" and connects them with tech employers in the US for potential job vacancies. Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg visited Andela's office in Lagos last year. Mr Omin had reportedly been granted a short-term visa to work with First Access, a financial technology company in New York's Manhattan district. After being asked a series of questions by a US Customs and Border Protection officer, he was taken into a room for further checks. Is that correct?" an officer is reported to have asked Mr Omin. He says he was then given a piece of paper and a pen and told to answer these two questions to prove he is actually a software engineer: "Write a function to check if a Binary Search Tree is balanced." "What is an abstract class, and why do you need it?" Mr Omin told LinkedIn it seemed to him the questions had been "Googled" by "someone with no technical background". He said later on Twitter that he was "too tired to even think", and told the officer they could "talk about other computer science concepts". After he handed back his answers, he was told by the officer that they were wrong. He said he presumed he was required to provide "the Wikipedia definition" for the questions. However, he was even more surprised a little later when the officer told him he was "free to go". "Look, I am going to let you go, but you don't look convincing to me," said the officer, according to Mr Omin. "I didn't say anything back. I just walked out." He later found out that border protection officers had phoned Andela to verify his story. The BBC has approached the Customs and Border Protection department for a comment but has yet to receive a reply. Nigeria is not one of the seven countries included in US President Donald Trump's temporary immigration pause. However, the African country has been struggling with the threat of terrorism in recent times, in particular from the militant Islamist group Boko Haram. Mr Trump has repeatedly called for "strong borders" and "extreme vetting" since taking office on 20 January. |

December 20, 2016 Press Statement WHY WE DO NOT WANT MUHAMMADU BUHARI IN BIAFRALAND FOR NOW Retired Major General Muhammadu Buhari who committed treason on December 31, 1983, has concluded plans to visit Enugu in Biafraland on the 22nd of December, 2016. The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have unanimously agreed that Buhari is not welcome in any part of Biafraland and reasons abound for this decision. We recall that on the 2nd of June, 2016, Mrs Bridget Agbahime, a 74-year old Biafran trader was beheaded at Kofar Wambai Market in Kano by five Islamic fundamentalists. There was no condemnation from Buhari or from any of his acolytes. To make matters worse, the killers were freed unconditionally from detention on November 3, 2016 by a Magistrate court in Kano presided over by Jibrin Muhammed. Under the watch of Buhari, the case has been closed and the killers are free to go ahead and carry out more killings for Allah and for Prophet Muhammed. On the 25th of April, 2016, five hundred Hausa-Fulani terrorists who go by the name “Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders' Association Of Nigeria (Macban)“ invaded Nimbo Community in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area (LGA) of Enugu state and slaughtered Biafrans and burnt 11 residential houses and some churches. The Vanguard Newspaper report of April 26, 2016 gave a conservative figure of 40 Biafrans that were slaughtered and thousands of others with severe matchet cuts all over their bodies and some with their vital organs severed off their bodies. Muhammadu Buhari even refused to take a distress call from the Governor of Enugu state. Till date, Buhari and his acolytes have not condemned the killings. We have to remind the public that Muhammadu Buhari is the official Grand Patron of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders' Association Of Nigeria (Macban). According to the Vanguard Newspaper report of April 4, 2016, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Muhammad confirmed that Hausa-Fulani terrorists invaded the community of Ohali-Elu town in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA of Rivers state, Biafraland and killed 12 people including a priest. Prior to that incidence, on the 5th of January, 2016, the Buhari-supported Hausa-Fulani terrorists abducted the King of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Akaeze Edward Ofulue III and killed him in the forest. Typically, no words of condemnation from Buhari and his acolytes and nobody was arrested and prosecuted. Muhammadu Buhari has continued to militarize the entire Biafraland under the guise of “Operation this and Operation that“. Biafraland is not a war zone, yet it has the highest amount of military personnel and the greatest solder-to-civilian ratio in the entire African continent. These military personnel in Biafraland have continually carried out enforced disappearances, rape, extortions, and arson on the lives and properties of innocent and unarmed Biafran people. Meanhwile Section-217(2) of Nigerian Constitution was explicit on the functions, duties, and responsibilities of the Armed Forces of Nigeria. The world is already awash with the report from Amnesty International on the killings in Biafrland, which is a microcosm of the actual extent of extra-judicial killings and massacre of defenceless and peaceful Biafrans ordered by Muhammadu Buhari and excuted by Col. Issah Abdullahi and Co. Although the report from Amnesty International is commendable, we assert that over one thousand Biafrans were killed on the 30th of May 2016 alone. Many of the killings were done when the victims were inside the Church either praying or resting. The case of Biafrans who are being kidnapped by secret agents, tortured, and kept in perpetual detention under inhuman and degrading conditions is public knowledge. Among the illegally detained Biafrans is the leader of IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who has been held since the 14th of October, 2015. Even after several court orders on the unconditional release of Nnamdi Kanu, Buhari has refused to obey the court orders but rather went further to hire the services of Justice Binta Nyako who is the wife of a terrorist, to adjudicate on the phantom court case against Nnamdi Kanu. From the foregoings, it is crystal clear that Buhari is not welcome in Biafraland because his coming is tantamount to biting off our nose to spite our face. Therefore, we warn Muhammadu Buhari to stay away from Biafraland to avoid unpleasant consequences on him and those inviting him. To be forewarned, is to be forearmed. Signed Barrister Emma Nmezu Dr. Clifford Chukwuemeka Iroanya Spokespersons for IPOB http://www.ipob.org/2016/12/ipob-press-statement-why-we-do-not-want.html |
The leader of the Independent People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of lying, saying the president cannot intimidate him. At a stormy court session on Tuesday, Mr. Kanu said the president can intimidate court judges, but not him. “The president can intimidate the judges, but he cannot do that to me. Tell him he has lied,” said Mr. Kanu. A Federal High Court in Abuja ruled on Tuesday on an application seeking the protection of witnesses in the ongoing trial of Mr. Kanu, and three others, David Nwawuisi, Benjamin Madubugwu and Chidiebere Onwudiwe, who are facing trial for alleged treasonable felony. They were arraigned before Justice Binta Nyako after the first defendant said he had no confidence in the former judge, John Tsoho. The court had adjourned the application for protection of witnesses to December 13. Delivering the ruling, Mrs. Binta said the court would allow the witnesses some degree of protection. “The counsels and the defendants will see the witnesses. The witnesses will have special entrances to and outside the court,” the judge said. Mrs. Nyako also said the court would allow the witnesses to be shielded with screen-guards. She said the court would set aside two days for rehearsals on how the witnesses will come into the court and depart from the court. After the ruling was given, Mr. Kanu said he would not allow himself to be given a secret trial in any way. Raising his voice, Mr. Kanu said anything short of a public trial will not be allowed. Mr. Kanu’s lawyer, Chux Muoma, warned his client to allow the counsel he employed to do his job without undue interference in court. “Sit down! I am your counsel let me talk. I have not come all the way here to allow you speak for me in court,” said Mr. Muoma. He apologised to the court afterwards. Counsel to the other defendants said they will make a formal application against the judgement. They said they were opposed to the ruling of the court. Shortly after, the defendants began to clamour for an opportunity to speak to their lawyers. The judge, Mrs. Nyako, warned the defendants to desist from making her court rowdy. The judge said her ruling did not imply that the trial will be conducted in secret. “It is not going to be a secret trial. The court will allow the defendants see the witnesses. The defendant counsel will also see the witnesses,” said Mrs. Nyako. The defendants challenged that position again, drawing the judge’s warning. “If you don’t stop talking in my court I will assume you are becoming a nuisance in my court. And if I assume so, I will continue this trial in your absence, so do not try my patience,” she said. “When you are in my court you will do what I want. It’s like having a visitor in your house; you can serve the visitor food but if he wants to eat he will eat and if he doesn’t want to, he will not.” After a brief recess, Mr. Kanu began to speak again. “I will address this court! You cannot be killing my people and tell me that you will make me have a secret trial. That won’t happen! The president can intimidate the judges, but he cannot do that to me. Tell him he has lied,” said Mr. Kanu. The other defendants soon joined in the voice of opposition against the court’s ruling and the session became rowdy. The court clerks then told the people present in court that the session was over and that the matter would not continue again on Tuesday. Outside the court, the IPOB supporters clashed with the security operatives while the latter tried to return Mr. Kanu and the other defendants to the vehicle that had brought them. They kept shouting chants in support of the Biafran State, after the vehicles carrying the defendants zoomed off on top speed. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/217815-nnamdi-kanu-goes-berserk-in-court-says-buhari-cant-intimidate-me.html |

The move have caused panic among residents in the area and outrage among interest groups in the region, Daily Sun reports. The chairman of International Society for Civil Liberties and the Rule of Law (Intersociety), Emeka Umeagbalasi described the army’s action as a declaration of Jihad against the South-east. He called on the federal government to prevail on the Army authorities to immediately dismantle the road blocks, adding that the Army’s internal security should not translate to psychological war against the Igbos, especially at a period it is known they return home to celebrate Yuletide “The Army’s occupation is nothing but a plot to subject the entire South-east to untold hardship, torture and extortion,’’ Umeagbalasi alleged. http://www.newsflashngr.com/index.php/2016/12/01/heavy-tension-onitsha-soldiers-block-1965-built-niger-bridge-happened-next-will-shock/ |
