Good suggestion but I am afraid I do not posses such power. This business has proven that "legit seller" is a very broad and complex term I do not even want to attempt to try define at this stage.

It has been proven time & time again, using history, that a so-called "Legit seller" might just be one or two bad deals away from being a "bad seller" .

The best we can do, however, is use raw data to show everyone what has been happening on the negative side, and let them decide.

Of course, it is also safe to say those whose names do not appear, are to a very large extent "legit sellers" unless proven otherwise.

This is a dispute statistics thread as the name implies. This thread will provide raw data that will help us all make informed decisions when buying items from the numerous sellers in this section ---- ESPECIALLY the community involved in buying goods from the United states through the renowned known pickers of this section.

This thread was not concieved to ridicule anybody. No No!! it is far from that! Rather it was birthed due to the pressing need to help buyers make an informed decision before paying money to people who might end up giving them heart-attack.

Some philosophers believe that the past is an indication of the future. Well, if that is true, it is our hope that past statistics of messy dealings will help you avert oncoming danger. Or at least be on your guard if you still want to proceed.

Nigeria is notorious for having an overwhelming number of crooked sellers who will go to lenghts to purloin from innocent buyers. The stories and experiences have become too many. And if we all claim we indeed want to make this country better, then that change ought begin with us. We must be torchbearers.

We must prove different from the rest. We must create a brand rooted in Trust and integrity.

Yes sir. Was about to discard the idea but given the current situation of things, I or anybody else also interested in it, will definitely create a dispute statistics thread.

And if Dragnet or the mods of this section can pin it at the top of the Technology market section, that would be awesome.

People are watching. People who maybe had plans in investing in this great community that has been built over the years are watching and shaking thier heads. They're having cold feet. Somebody's destiny or breakthrough might be tied to the connections that might eventually come from these same people maybe not today or tomorrow, but will certainly come.

Now they're asking themselves, "If a "SUPPOSED" trusted member of the community can do this, and the rest are not coming together to strongly ostracize that person, how safe am I?" " Who will fight for me?" (Remember Mcmayor still has a pending case with Perez of over 200k which has trickled into several months now)

The first phone I ever bought from Nairaland was some 7 years ago if memory serves me correctly. A white Nokia E-72 from a lady here. I was "technically" a naive small pikin at that point if the age factor is to be brought up. I sent her money without even knowing what she looked like.

Everybody at home thought I was crazy. The phone didn't come the day it was supposed to. Didn't come the next day either. She said she was having delivery issues with DHL. My friends and everyone had already started laughing at this point and drumming words of "Shebi we warned you" into my ears.

But amidst everything I was calm. The phone eventually came the next day via DHL. Till today I don't know what that lady looks like. I used that phone for several years until I gave it a beftting burial when it was time to move on. You see, This is the trust that keeps this community going. It's the core & basic foundation of the millions of transactions that go on here daily.

I personally want everybody to have a say in this and openly condemn what is happening right now. If you're reading this and you've benefited from this community , don't just read and pass, say something. Condemn it!!!

Big people, amazing people , whose networking outside gadgets deals might be watching and having cold feet. We never can tell.

Do you know what happened when I received the nokia E-72 I bought at that time?. I was scrolling through the text messages when I found that the lady in question is well connected. As in I saw several, non-completely deleted text exchanges she was having with a top connected person who I am suspecting to be either a governor (maybe) of a state I refuse to mention, OR a senator, or someone that close to the top. Let's just say it was one of the decision makers of that state. She actually deleted them, but somehow didn't wipe-out the phone completely in error perhaps. I also saw some videos of her white friends which I deleted on her behalf and moved on.

Apologies for this long espistle. I just wanted to paint a picture of how the repercussions of things, like the one currently happening now, not just affects the direct victim alone, but also everyone who makes bread legitimately from this section, one way or the other.

Isaac Newton once famously mused that he was only able to see farther by standing on the shoulders of giants that came before him.

The opportunities that lay aboud here, that we all are benefitting from, have only been made possible by the solid foundation & reputation the giants here have built over the years. Anyone who wants to see or go farther must stand on those shoulders through emulation, not through shady acts of blatant exploitation like the one Jeffery has been subjected to.

We all must in our own little way come together to make this place a safe haven for buyers & sellers alike. TRUST is the only thing that keeps this place going. Take that away and watch everything that has been built over the years crumble. We don't want that.

And if there's any time bomb slowly ticking, and patiently waiting to explode, maybe raw data could help an innocent person avert danger. Which is why starting tommorow I'll be opening a dispute statistics thread. This thread will summarize all, or recent disputes, how many times that particular person has been involved in disputes and how the issue was finally concluded.

As we all know, human relations can be very complex sometimes so it should not come as surprise if a day comes and my name also makes the dispute statistics thread. But no problem. If I'm a danger, or a potential danger, then people need to be wary of me cos afterall, we're talking about hard earned money here. People's life savings.

Lastly, may God grant us all wisdom not to in the excitement of stealing a piece of meat from the pot today , make the whole soup sour that was supposed to feed us tommorow.
