It has become classic that doctors make use of BMI – Body Mass Index to assess body weight.
A Body Mass Index (BMI) of 18.5 to 25 is considered to be healthy.
If your BMI is just above 25, you are likely becoming overweight and may need healthy dieting tips and weight loss.

BMI of above 30 is obese, hence not healthy, there is need for healthy diets, and weight loss diet and fitness exercise to achieve weight loss.
BMI of above 40 is morbidly or pathologically obese, more weight loss efforts.

To get the correct calculation of your own Body Mass Index - BMI, you have to know your body weight in kilos – KG, Kilogram, and your head to crown of the feet height in meters, then use the guide as shown here to calculate your body mass index, BMI.

1. Multiply your height (H raise to power 2) by itself, for instance 1.7x1.7= 2.89.
2. Divide your body weight (e.g. 80KG) by the figure you got in 1. Above as shown in step 3 below.

Bitter Kola also known as Garcinia kola is a tropical flowering plant found in western and central Africa and it produces brown, nut-like seeds. 1. Establish an exercise routine (that you enjoy!)

Staying active will help you develop a strong body that looks and feels good as you age. It can lower your risk for disease, reduce stress and protect your bones and joints. So it's important to take part in physical activities that are not only challenging, but also fun and motivating. Keep things interesting by mixing it up; whether it's a dance class or a kayaking trip, don't be afraid to try something new.

You're never too young to start taking care of your skin. Healthy habits today will pay off in later years. The key to healthy skin lies beyond which soap you use. It depends on what you eat, whether you exercise, how much stress you're under and even the kind of environment in which you live and work. Eating a diet rich in vitamins and minerals, wearing sunscreen and getting regular body scans by a dermatologist can keep you looking young and feeling good as you age.

4. Get a good night's sleep

Not getting enough sleep can interfere with your memory and ability to reason and concentrate, make you more susceptible to injury, increase stress levels and reduce your body's ability to fight infection or heal. If you have trouble getting a good night's rest, try going to sleep and waking up at the same time each day or taking a hot shower before bed.

5. Manage stress

It's easy to get overwhelmed with balancing a new job, friends and everything else happening in your life. Breathe; slow, deep, diaphragmatic breaths can trigger a relaxation response in your whole body.

Body Mass Index (BMI) is a number calculated from a person's weight and height. BMI provides a reliable indicator of body fatness for most people and is used to screen for weight categories that may lead to health problems.

A frequent use of the BMI is to assess how much an individual's body weight departs from what is normal or desirable for a person of his or her height. The weight excess or deficiency may, in part, be accounted for by body fat (adipose tissue) although other factors such as muscularity also affect BMI significantly (see discussion below and overweight). The WHO regards a BMI of less than 18.5 as underweight and may indicate malnutrition, an eating disorder, or other health problems, while a BMI greater than 25 is considered overweight and above 30 is considered obese.

Measuring Body Mass Index involves simple techniques that can be carried out by an individual before visiting your doctor.

The U.S. National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey of 1994 indicated that 59% of American men and 49% of women had BMIs over 25. Morbid obesity—a BMI of 40 or more—was found in 2% of the men and 4% of the women. The newest survey in 2007 indicates a continuation of the increase in BMI: 63% of Americans are overweight or obese, with 26% now in the obese category (a BMI of 30 or more). There are differing opinions on the threshold for being underweight in females; doctors quote anything from 18.5 to 20 as being the lowest weight, the most frequently stated being 19. BMI is used differently for children. It is calculated the same way as for adults, but then compared to typical values for other children of the same age.
