Culture / Re: Gods Of Igbo Culture by irisher: 7:52am On May 04
In Igbo culture and tradition, we practice polytheism(many gods) system of worship while the Christian and other religions believes in monotheism(Almighty God)
Ana is considered a God on its own, and wasn't created by Chukwu or any supreme God.
Ana is not a wife of any God, procreation is only meant for humanity and not meant for gods.
Ndi Ichie(ancestors) na ndi Ikenga are noble spirits & deities they're everywhere.

prince2pac:
There are more than a 100 gods, both small and large in Igbo Culture but there are 9 popular gods (Alusi) I’ll outline

1. Ala (Ani, Ana)

Ala is the female god representing the earth, fertility, creativity and morality. She is the most respected god in igboland.

[s]She is considered the wife of “Amadioha”, the sky god and commands authority in Igboland.
[/s]
[s]Ala was the first Alusi created by Chukwu the Creator God.[/s] Her name literally translates to ‘Ground’ in the Igbo, denoting her powers over the earth and her status as the ground itself. All ground is considered ‘Holy land’ as it is Ala herself.

The water that flows in and out of her represents the fountain of life and fertility she gives. With human fertility, Ala is credited for the productivity of the land. [s] In Odinani, Ala rules over the underworld which holds the deceased ancestors in her womb.
[/s]
It is believed that in her stomach is were the dead and the living reside. Ala uses the snake as one of Her messengers. As the goddess of morality, Ala is involved in judging human actions and is in charge of Igbo law and customs known as Omenala.

Taboos and crimes among Igbo communities that are against the standard of Ala are called nsọ Ala. Ala’s messenger and living agent on earth is the python (Igbo: éké), which is especially revered in many Igbo communities.

In art, Ala is often represented as a regal figure seated on a throne, surrounded by her family. In the past, such figures took the form of life-size mud sculptures in special festive shrines dedicated to the deity and known as Mbari.

[s]Ala is in charge of conserving that which is created. While Chukwu is the giver of the moral law, Ala is the enforcer of the law. Ala is also the “womb” that holds and nurtures and renews when necessary.[/s]

Chukwu and Ala are meant to represent the differences and complement between the sexes in Igbo culture. This principle of duality extends to minor gods as well.

Some of these deities are “male” gods associated with masculine rituals such as circumcision or with male-dominated professions such as iron smithing and carving.

Others are “female” deities, such as those associated with protecting vegetable traders and cloth weavers—who in the Igbo traditional world tended to be dominated by women.

Culture / Re: Popular Dreaded Deities Across Igboland by irisher: 12:54am On May 04
Godwindiji •Ogwugwu is neither a Deity nor Alusi,
Ogwugwu is a powerful and mysterious goddess connected to the earth(Ana) and the cycles of nature such as water, air, forest, sky, sunshine etc.
Ogwugwu Goddess was early being worshipped in Nri kingdom by Umudiana, and is now common in almost every Igbo communities and villages.
Ogwugwu(Omimi) is also referred to as something that's depth or mysterious to understand, she's also referred to as "Ogwugwu Nnekwu Nne di Omimi".
Ogwugwu is associated with bitterness, labour, healing, fertility, wealth, prosperity and protection.
Ogwugwu isn't a God that can guarantee you 100 percent success without passing through labour and pain that's why she's mysterious and great.
She is believed to watch over men, women, children, and the harvest, ensuring their safety and well-being.

Trolling will not change their positions. You can't accept stats only when they suit you and reject stats when they don't suit you. The same people who said Anambra has the best primary and secondary school completion rates in Nigeria also said Anambra is the 3rd most urbanized state in Nigeria. Accept the stats and move on, trolling won't alter Anambra's position cool
Which biased statistics are you really talking about?
You're tirelessly saying something without evidence or making a tangible reason.
We already know that development starts from the city, so apart from the 100km Owerri city that was created in 1970 and the former capital of Abia State, which other place is urbanized in Imo state?
Can you compare Mbaise, Mbano, Mbaitolu, Obowo, Orlu to any town in Anambra State
Lagos is the only state in Nigeria that can compete with Anambra state, don't insult Ndi Anambra.
Below is the Google definition of urbanized and developed city by the main city area, underdeveloped areas aren't included in the city area. If you're wise enough, you should understand that Ihiala city and its metro with a city area of 300km is more urbanized than Owerri with metro city of 104km.

OALandAgents:
So because he commissioned the private library built for the people by Prof. Dike, it is now a legacy of Peter Obi? undecided

What library did Obi build as governor?

I am no supporter of Tinubu, he is an unmitigated and still unfolding disaster, but truth is Peter Obi was very useless and clueless as governor and even made useless Obiano who managed to build a small airport and convention centre appear to be a performer in comparison.
Chill, Obiano worked more than Obi.
The difference is that Obi is good in managing funds, stingy and he doesn't have a good taste, while Obiano has a great taste compared to Obi, he built so many Rds with street light in the state, Airport, Intl CC etc..
He spends billions of naira(according to him) decorating Onitsha yearly, made Awka to be among the unique state capital in Nigeria, Obiano even developed Agulu by building the famous Agulu lake Hotel and constructed good road networking system there, something Obi can't even do in his home town during his tenure.
Obiano still remain the best governor Anambra state has ever made and I can attest to that.
But Obi can do a very good job compared to Tinubu in a presidential seat.

It will be difficult to address your type because you've little or no knowledge regarding Rice mill industry and commerce.
Have you ever wondered the reason why Chinese have largest and the best Rice mills industries in the world, do you think the Chinese rely on mediocre?
Do you think $10 million for a Rice mill is on a higher side?
Rice mill isn't for ordinary business men.

Investment / Re: I Just Built A Warehouse, What Manufacturing Business Can I Go Into? by irisher: 9:56pm On Mar 11
That's how most of you guys keep on producing lowest grade local rice that's not favourable for human consumption, what's the point of manufacturing such substandard local rice while we always depend on the foreign rice, tell yourself the truth if you were being served such local rice in a restaurant, wedding or an occasion can you be able to eat such rice?
Every business requires stable income in order for the business to grow very well and compete with others. Top 10 rice mill industry in Nigeria is being setup by a roughly sum of about $20 million dollars and above. Go and make your research very well to know if manufacturing and selling of such substandard local rice is profitable now, even in our present economy a lot of people still prefer foreign rice.
Before the civil war, my father and likes had rice mills factories in Abakaliki respectively. During the civil war, the European introduced the foreign Rice and Stock fish to us. Then, after the civil war the Igbos venture into importation of foreign Rice and abandoned the local rice mills mindset because Nigerian are already used to foreign Rice.
Eating of foreign Rice and Stock fish is now part of our culture and I don't think anybody can change it because it has come to stay.
So, if you're planning to setup a rice mill factory, try to have a buoyant funds for the investment at least. The best rice mills industries in Nigeria have their own farmlands they plant rice, they don't buy rice randomly. "I speak with facts and evidence".
theamazonguru:

Baba make.una no dey scare people na.
This is a pure lie.

My wife is a "middle man" in this rice business value chain.
She works closely with a rice mill, i have been there on 2 occasions.
I can tell you that this guys are doing very well.
I mean very well.
They receive their supplies from different rice sources - Ebonyi (Abakaliki) , Kano, Sokoto, Kebbi etc.
They package their own rice and does same for other clients who bring in their own rice for processing and packaging.

The said warehouse is way smaller than what this man built that you are calling small.
This warehouse I am looking at here can accommodate 4 of the warehouse I visited.
In fact the guy rented it from the owner.

And the machines I saw I am sure are not super expensive. They have machines that helps to dehusk, destone, polish then package.
Though I can't assume or guess , but I am confident getting the machines won't cost as much as you are painting it here.

A little research will help the OP if he is interested in this business.

My point is, $5 million is an over kill abeg.
Does he want to buy an entire state ni.
The said people who are doing well are supposedly the ones who repackage and mix their substandard local rice with foreign rice and in a foreign rice bag so that they can sell it easily and with enough profit.

Romance / Re: Opinion: Men Without Handsome Income Should Not Date Not To Talk Of Marrying by irisher: 7:53am On Mar 11
Relationship or marriage is not all about having a good source of income, buoyant bank account, or being rich. Some men that are considered poor to the society, work hard to take good care of their family, while some rich men are irresponsible and don't spend their money at home because they find love elsewhere.
Meanwhile, some men may not have the handsome source of income the OP wants at the moment, because they're still investing their capital or in a big dream that will yield more income to their earnings----do you consider such men broke and poor?
Poverty is inability to acquire what you want at the right time, and poverty state isn't constant(a situation that does not change). So if a man woo a woman he likes, the man is capable for himself, and can be able to afford the lady and make a family with her.
You as a lady that sees any vibrant man as a poor dude just because he didn't wear nice costume, is also considered a poor woman and should be avoided because such women can never afford a growth of her family.
Rich lady is a woman that can afford to raise the growth of her family from a ground state to an excited state.
Poor lady is a woman that's after every man's money, she has no taste of a man or relationship, she only has a mentality that money is the only thing that can work a relationship and not minding her incompetency.
Goodlady:
Infact, don't get married so that you won't Infect the woman with your poverty or unbalanced life. It's not a must to be in a relationship. Afterall purpose of humans on earth isn't for procreation or marriage alone. Broke men can decide to be monks.
I v seen enough from men that fathered many children they can't cater from and I blame those women that opened legs for them.
Some men even have money to still cater but chose to be unfortunate and irresponsible. A man that service his car regularly should be able to take car of a woman.
I hope males on this forum are up and doing and responsible. Ema se oriburuku by not taking care of your women.
The goddess has spoken!
I hope this your write-up is not meant to be serious because it will mislead the young ones.

Although you didn't state the location of your property, I'd suggest you go into rice milling. Get rice from any large farm close to you, get machines, hire people, dehusk these rice, parboil them, bag them and start selling.

You can also set up a palm oil processing mill too.

To setup a Rice Mills Factory will cost him a lot of fortune, and he's not in a right site for that business. Beside the warehouse is way too small for the machines involved!
Rice Mill Industry is only meant for very wealthy individuals that can be able to sink about $5 million dollars or more in an investment and let it grow slowly without panicking, because it requires some numbers of hectares of lands, and the Industry has to be planting its own Rice with the aids of an Industrial modern agricultural tools and machines.
More workers will be employed, build or rent apartments for company workers close to the Industry, create awareness and market your products. Never forget the competitions, and majority of the masses still prefer foreign Rice over the local Rice, so you've to fund more fortune in your Industry to make it reach the standard of that of the foreign Rice.

First of all, I'm a man not girl!
You should be ashamed of yourself for being so dumb and displaying your illiteracy at the same time.
In the image you posted, it appears that Onitsha is the only cities in Nigeria with the largest metropolis, now ask yourself what brought about the largest metropolis in Onitsha?
When it comes to population, Built-up Land Area and developed city in Nigeria, Onitsha is the second after Lagos.
Above all, it will take Aba 100 years to get to the present position of Onitsha.
You should go through this website and study it yourself, so you can get some knowledge about it, at least.
https://www.demographia.com/db-worldua.pdf

Onitsha already has Airport and University, because development has extended to Umueri and Aguleri, Onitsha metropolis has extended to Awkuzu and Nteje that's why "Rod Market" in Onitsha has already been built at Nteje and the traders in Onitsha Rod Market were being forced to evacuate Onitsha to Nteje in order to decongest the great city.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J82EQazlG9I?si=tRx5qUV5jk6GGCRL
Onitsha metropolis has extended to Oyi LGA, Anambra East LGA, Idemili, Ogbaru, Ihiala etc.
One cannot distinguish Onitsha from Oba, Ojoto, Umuoji, Ichi, down to Nnewi and it's metropolis, it all looks like one city.
While Aba is still managing it's 91km² as the main city, the rest is an eyesore!

How can you be this dumb bro?
Assuming you're in a Geography class, and you're being asked to mention the Metropolis of Onitsha, you gonna include Nnewi and some parts of Imo state, with your common sense, you should have known that Obosi, Nkpor, Nkwele Ezunaka, some little parts of Oba, Ogidi, Nsugbe, and Ogbunike...are the great Onitsha metropolis and it's worldly recognised with a population of about 8 million people which is considered to be the second most populated and developed cities in Nigeria after Lagos, and it's the 54th most populated cities in the world.
Aba City has a population of just 1 million people and it's being ranked 494th in world populated cities.
Onitsha has a built-Up Land Area of 1,943km² while Aba has 91km² , this clearly shows that Aba is still developing, because there was a time where Onitsha City has a built-up area of about 52 to 100km² this is around 19th century though! Aba should expect to get to Onitsha present position in the next 100 years, by then, the whole of Anambra state will become a 1 City state or a Country.
Aba, Umuahia and Abia state can never stand shoulder to shoulder with Anambra or any of her great cities. For your information, Anambra state is a home to the highest number of successful black people in Africa.
Beside, this threads is strictly for Ndi Anambra and for updates in Anambra state. You should all quit from this argument!!

The hotel is really world-class, but unfortunately the location is error. How many people lodge in a village hotel?? Everyone has house in the village, so no need for lodging in a hotel while in the village.
Anyways , the hotel is a massive edifice
An hotel shouldn't supposed to be built in a build-up residential area, thus, it's prohibited for Town/City planners to approve that. I'm sure the hotel isn't in a residential hood.
Properties / Re: Bishop Ozubulu Opens 5 Star Hotel In Ozubulu by irisher: 8:33pm On Feb 06

Some of all these business men with so much money. Very high class hotel but what about how the hotel is going to pay back itself. I doubt if they will be getting occupancy rate of up to 15% at ordinary times. Highest will be 20% at festive periods. He should have put this thing in Awka and make it a den of politicians and high class yahoo boys. In business and property matters, location is key. I guess he doesn't need the money from the hotel business as there are other channels he is making his money. Hotel business is not profitable if you are not in a good location without contact to bring government and private sectors functions to it.
Hotel Market don't really need contact, it's a game of choice, emotions and hospitality. Are you not being moved by the serenity and beautiful nature of that hotel, wouldn't you like to enjoy yourself there too?

Ozubulu is a town and majority of people living in Anambra can be able to afford the hotel.
Normally, anybody that's into cruise doesn't consider the location, but the great level of hospitality makes it feels comfortably and worth it😀.
Most of these top-notch hotels in such areas are being patronised by married men and women that want to cheat in their marriage, and they're definitely coming from the neighbouring towns etc..
Some people drive upto 45 to 55 minutes, from Onitsha to Owerri, Onitsha to Awka and Nnewi to Awka just for normal cruise and spend their money, but as development keeps up sprinkling, many people consider 10 to 15 minutes drive from
Nnewi to Ozubulu, Onitsha to Ozubulu and other towns to Ozubulu so that they can experience good hospitality, and relaxation!
Many people are no longer driving from Awka to Enugu, and from Onitsha to Owerri to enjoy their money because they also have a top-notch hotels closer to them, so there will be no point driving that long distance, meanwhile, hotels attendance can as well arrange what their customers need for the relaxation with just phone calls and the game will begin 😀 etc...
We're in digital world and many learned and rich people prefer running things confidential and on code, no reasonable rich and responsible person will like to take a hustling gal on her hustling stand, they prefer the hotels attendance to do the work for them, that's why many top-notch hotels prohibit any hustling gals from standing in front of their hotels because they spoil their reputation and they also have gals working under them and those gals bring the hotels incomes 😉...
I shouldn't explain everything here for everyone but let it be common for people to have business mindset and a positive mentality on how to make money.
A wealthy man like Bishop Ozubulu neither make a useless decision in business, nor to setup an investment that's unprofitable.
He made a wise decision there, life doesn't begin and end in the city.
Most of the filthy rich usually setup their industries in an area seems so common etc.

There are a lot of Igbo people doing business with Europeans, Chinese, American, and Japanese etc.
And these Western countries respect and value their Igbo business partners the most. These Igbo people usually travel to any of the western countries for business and educational purposes on a daily basis, and they come back home with new investment ideas, good newly imported products, foreign currency to develop their region, and also an ideas of exportation purposes.
We're really trying our best, it's only left for our government to provide us with some basics infrastructures like, good road networking system, constant electricity, make Onitsha, Calabar, and Ph Seaport viable for importation and exportion, make every Cargo airport viable too, open all our borders, let the Health Insurance companies take care of our health care system, since the government won't be able to manage and funds the health sector(everyone living in the country must buy a yearly Health Insurance card).
I don't know whom to blame on our educational system, most expecially the higher institutions wether to blame the Government, Lecturers, or Students, we've to value our educational system, at least. We've records of thousands of unproductive graduates yearly, most at times, the ones in the business sectors are better than them financially and are more industrious as well(some of our graduates are the ones getting little paid by Nairaland, just for them to argue and cause tribal war in every thread thereby gaining more traffic, you'll should better look for something profitable to do with your life).

Bro, do you really know the cost of acquiring a plot of land in a busy area in Anambra state, and also the cost of building such massive hotels, cost of building an industry, hospitals, and real estate. Anambra is the best state for healthcare in Nigeria.
Anambra economy is the best in Nigeria because is one of the best state for business and investment. The state also boasts for the most Indigenous Industries in Nigeria. Anambra has a lower task rate system for industries and markets, compared to Lagos that's full of tasks and high costs of living(an average Legosian doesn't have a savings, but the transaction is quite going on).
Anambra has about 260 International and Major local market compared to Lagos that has 52 International and local markets.
Onitsha main market is the 2nd biggest markets in Africa and the biggest in West Africa.
No state in Nigeria can be able to stand with Anambra state in terms of economical values, standard of living(even some Aboki at Onitsha and Awka are living in a home compared to Lagos that's full with homeless people and slums), Anambra state is very competitive in terms of business, if you know what you're doing, you'd definitely succeed. Anambra is a home of wealthy people and the light of Nigeria.
Nnewi economy is bigger than that of Abuja, it's a fact! During December 2023, Nnewi opened about 30 luxurious Hotels, and the hotels are booming very well(anything you bring to Nnewi must be sold there, because the residents are very capable), any good products brought to Nnewi must be sold out there without delay because the residents are very good in business.

So everyone, we have a lot of good things in Anambra state, we make people wealthy, and make people build their own houses in their various homeland.
We're very proud of our unity.

NPC aren't given "Birth certificate" for person above 18years, they're only issuing "Attestation letter of birth".
But the Embassy requested for someone that's born after December, 1992 to present his/her Birth certificate.
I was born after 1992, but a bit confused to submit Attestation to the embassy instead of the Birth certificate.
Would there be a problem if I submit the Attestation?
Thanks.

Good day everyone!
Please I have a doubt concerning German language proficiency, my course of Study is English!

Do I need to present the German proficiency result to the embassy for my Visa/resident permit since my Study program is not German?

Good day everyone!
So I decided to study in germany, and my Study course requires for C1 in Goethe.
Do I still need to take the Goethe A1-B2 etc, or I should just take the C1 without doing the intermediate?
Btw, I don't have any of this Certificate, will the Goethe exam be held again this year?..

Please, does anybody have idea if someone can be able to get a short stay Study Visa without pre enrollment being validated.
I have Test to attend at Italy, and my pre enrollment isn't yet validated by the University.
Any suggestions on how to tackle this issue will be appreciated! Thanks.
