Anambra Deserves Better: A Call to Action

By Sir Paul Chukwuma, Governorship Candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP)

My Fellow Ndi Anambra,

Ndi be anyi, I greet you all with humility and gratitude. It is with a deep sense of duty, love for our homeland, and faith in the possibilities of a better tomorrow that I, Sir Paul Chukwuma, stand before you, first, as the governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), and more importantly as a concerned Onye Anambra to address you today.

I want to begin by reminding us that our dear state, Anambra is blessed beyond measure in all ramifications. We are blessed with intelligent men and women, industrious youths, fertile land, and a proud heritage of enterprise and education.

Yet, in spite of our overflowing potentials, our state has continued to struggle with challenges that hinder growth, limit opportunities, and test the patience and faith of our people due to the gross maladministration and clear lack of progressive vision by the incumbent APGA-led administration of Governor Charles Soludo, a Professor of Economics.

In the past three years and seven months of the Soludo administration, Anambra has been crawling on its knees in various critical sectors that matter to ndi Anambra.

- Insecurity has become chronic across our cities and villages with the government unable to account for security votes spending;
- Agriculture has been abandoned by the state government;
- Our educational system is being severely tested;
- Our public health system is limping badly;
- Public housing programme is non-existent;
- Our environment is degrading;
- Many rural and urban areas are without good and standard quality access roads and bridges;
- Traders and businesses are breaking under the yoke of multiple and uncoordinated taxation;
- Our Local government system has been crippled;
- Rule of law is under trial in Anambra;
- Our civil service is choking under executive dictatorship;
- Industrialists and investors are avoiding Anambra, etc.

As a result of these and many other issues bedeviling the state under the watch of APGA, the cost and stress of living and doing business in Anambra is at an all-time high. Safety is now a rare commodity for our people. The people groaning and desperately seeking for help.

It is for this reason that I decided to step into this governorship race under the platform of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) alongside my very dependable and competent running mate, Chief Uzu Okagbue, to bring Joy to ndi Anambra.

Our manifesto is broadly anchored on a tripod HIS pillars of Human capital development, Infrastructure and Security with many sub-components. I will highlight what my administration will do differently across many of our most critical sectors:

1. On Security

Our people deserve to sleep without fear. Today, insecurity in different forms such as underreported kidnappings and widespread robberies in our villages and cities, has created anxiety in many parts of our state.

*OUR PLAN*:

We will build a technology-based security architecture for Anambra State that will aim to prevent crimes and also quickly nip crimes once they occur. We will invest in technology-driven surveillance (including CCTVs, emergency call systems, command and control center), improve intelligence gathering, and build the capacity of our security agencies to respond very quickly to any security incident in the state.

2. On Education

Education in Anambra was once our pride, but schools now face inadequate funding, decaying infrastructure, and poor teacher motivation. The so-called Smart School programme of the Soludo administration has proven to be a sham. Close to four years after promising smart schools, ndi Anambra are yet to see what the Soludo smart schools look like.

*OUR PLAN*:

We will declare an Education Emergency on Day 1 of my administration. We will begin the modernisation of our schools with digital learning tools, retraining teachers, and partnering with private and mission schools to ensure quality learning for every child. Our tertiary institutions will be transformed to centers of learning excellence and removed from politics.

Technical and vocational education will receive very huge attention because of my belief that we must equip our children not just with paper certificates but vocational skills. My administration will also reform and institutionalise the famous "Igba boi" apprenticeship system.

3. On Agriculture

Despite our fertile soil and the high number of Ndi Anambra especially in the rural areas whose primary occupation is farming, the Soludo administration has basically abandoned food crop production and is instead fixated on a phantom coconut seedlings distribution as his major agricultural policy for ndi Anambra.

Prof. Soludo has not bought one single tractor to support mechanised agriculture in Anambra since he assumed office almost four years ago neither has he supported Anambra farmers with inputs such as fertiliser, pesticides nor advanced micro credits to our smallholder farmers. Rural roads leading to major agricultural belts have been left in deplorable state by Soludo instead he spends billions of Naira to build towers and rings.

The direct result of these is that food prices remain high in Anambra and output low, with basic food items such as vegetables unduly expensive and scarce. This will change under my administration.

*OUR PLAN:*

We will make agriculture become lucrative and less rigorous for our people. My administration will make both crop farming and livestock production, especially poultry, fish and meat to become a money spinner for our people.

We will create well funded specific programmes for each segment of the agricultural value chain including setting up an agricultural off-take agency that will guarantee the purchase of agricultural produce from farmers to reduce their post-harvest losses while also building Anambra's strategic food reserves. Cold storage facilities will be part of our agricultural solutions.

My administration will bring back the Farm Settlement and plantation system initiated by late Chief Michael Okpara. To ensure we add value to our primary agro produce, we will set up agro-processing zones around the food belts across our three senatorial districts. Access roads into our agricultural belts will be our priority. No food belt will be left unaccessible under my watch.

4. On Taxation and Business Environment

Small businesses and traders in Anambra complain of multiple taxation and extortion by the Soludo administration. We have lost count how many times the Governor has announced tax waivers for petty traders and artisans, yet the levies keep multiplying. Worse still, middlemen and contractors are collecting taxes for the state government with majority not remiting a single kobo into state coffers.

*OUR PLAN:*

We will introduce a single digital tax collection system that eliminates middlemen and streamline taxes. I will implement to the letter the new Tax Laws which exempts low income earners and small businesses with an annual turnover less than N100 million from paying any form of income tax.

My administration will eliminate the Aka Odo menace permanently. Tax enforcement will no longer be a tool to inflict pain and death on our people neither will the state use brutality to go after illegal tax agents.

My administration will also promote ease of doing business, providing a friendly environment for investors and local entrepreneurs alike. As an entrepreneur, I understand what businesses need to thrive. I will remove all the choke holds currently placed around the neck of businesses today by the Soludo administration.

5. On Healthcare

Our hospitals and especially primary health centres need more than repainting, they need real equipment, more motivated health workers, and stable funding. These are lacking severely today in our public hospitals, making citizens, including the poor and vulnerable to rely mostly on private hospitals for good healthcare.

*OUR PLAN:*

We will prioritise primary healthcare by not only revitalising physical infrastructure across hundreds of our primary healthcare centers and Health posts but also equipping them with basic equipment to function. We will also revamp secondary health care by overhauling our General Hospitals and building new ones equipped with the necessary modern medical/diagnostic equipment and personnel.

My administration will set up a Coordinated Ambulance Service in Anambra State with enough ambulances to respond to distress health calls that require conveying patients to a health center. Their job will be simple - convey our sick people to hospitals while providing preliminary health interventions enroute to the hospital.

We will also expand health insurance coverage so that our people will access health care without having to pay heavily from their pockets.

6. On Power and Energy

Frequent power failures cripple small industries, increase their cost of production and invariably makes them uncompetitive. The state government is obviously not interested in tackling the power problem in Anambra State.

*OUR PLAN:*

My administration will trigger the transformation of Anambra's electricity market. First, we will collaborate with private operators to set up three mini-grids in Anambra State. Every industrial cluster will have a dedicated energy plan to boost productivity through easy, reliable and affordable access to bulk electricity.

We will maximise utilisation of Anambra's gas resources especially around the Omasi axis to create thermal power generation plants around that cluster and wheeling some of the power generated to our other proposed mini-grids in Nnewi and Awka zones. We will however collaborate with the federal government to set up a gas pipeline network in Anambra State that will part of the National Gas Trunkline.

7. On Industrialisation

Anambra’s spirit of enterprise deserves infrastructure that matches it. Today, this is lacking either due to insecurity, unreliable power supply, bad roads into industrial enclaves or the unhealthy tax regime and extortion in Anambra State that dissuade investors from setting up industries in the state.

*OUR PLAN:*

We will establish additional industrial parks in Nnewi, the old Aguata in addition to the agro processing zones I earlier mentioned. In these parks, we will provide access roads, stable power from a nearby mini-grid, and tax incentives where necessary to encourage companies to set up base in the state.

By tackling insecurity from the root and using technology, we will also create a safe environment for investors to carry on with their businesses. We will champion “Made in Anambra” products and link producers to national and export markets.

8. On Local Government Autonomy

Local governments are the closest to the people, yet they have been caged by the incumbent administration in every way possible including extorting 90% of their FAAC allocations and spending them without appropriation.

*OUR PLAN:*

From day one of my administration, I will restore true local government autonomy in Anambra State and move to repeal the illegal Local Government Law passed by the Soludo administration to cage our LGAs.

Under my administration, local councils will manage their funds and projects transparently. This will bring governance and development closer to the grassroots while ensuring our people get accountability. A functional local government system is central to my security plan, which requires proper street identification - a clear job of the local governments.

9. On Housing

It is obvious that Prof. Soludo is not interested in mass social housing for ndi Anambra. A look at the past three budget cycles shows that Anambra State Ministry of Housing has spent over N30 billion in capital projects yet no single housing scheme for ndi Anambra has been delivered. This is a clear misdirection of priorities.

*OUR PLAN:*

Under my administration, we will partner with developers to build affordable mass housing schemes close to our urban centers to crash down rents in cities and towns which are becoming very unreasonable. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development will utilise all budgeted funds to build hundreds of blocks of flats annually, with a flexible mortgage system that allows rent-to-own options.

10. On Public Transportation

Ndi Anambra deserve a safe, reliable, and modern transport system. The public transport system in Anambra is chaotic and the State Government is clearly uninterested in the sector nor willing to help bring down the cost of transportation.

*OUR PLAN:*

We will procure hundreds of CNG hybrid buses, that can also run on petrol which will run across many intra-state bus routes that we will create. My administration will also create bus rapid transit routes with plenty bus stops on some of our major routes to make modern bus transport not just attractive but affordable to ndi Anambra.

We will also explore and development the light rail system by collaborating with private investors, our neighbouring states and the federal government to give ndi Anambra a multi modal transport system that will ease movement of people across the state and enhance productivity.

11. On Road Infrastructure

Anambra today is witnessing an epidemic of substandard road projects with road contracts awarded to incompetent and inexperienced contractors. These roads does not give ndi Anambra value for money as many of the roads fail even before completion, bringing the state back to square one few years down the line.

*OUR PLAN:*

Under my administration, infrastructure will not be a campaign rhetoric, it is going to be a basic responsibility we owe ndi Anambra and not a favour. Therefore I will ensure we have proper road designs to start with and award road contracts to reputable contractors with track record of quality. We cannot afford to gamble with our little resources.

Our investment in roads and bridges will be across board. No section of the state will be left behind. My administration will make street lights, good solid drainages and standard walkways the minimum standard in every road project, both major and minor roads.

12. On Youth Empowerment and Job Creation

Our young people are the engine of our economy, but many remain unemployed or underemployed mostly because of inadequate opportunities and also because of absence of skills and capital. My administration will change all that.

*OUR PLAN:*

We will create a Youth Innovation and Enterprise Fund to give practical support to start-ups, artisans, and SMEs as well as youths that graduate from the vocational training institutes that we will establish across every local government.

Our youth empowerment schemes will not be jamboree or shallow political exercises to deceive, we will link skill acquisition with real job placements and decentralise empowerment.

*A Call to Action!*

Fellow Ndi Anambra, the story of our state can change, from November 8. On this day, we have an opportunity to move away from the Soludo era of empty promises, dictatorship, brutality against ndi Anambra, unsafe homeland, elitist governance and disregard for the real needs of Ndi Anambra. We can usher in a new Anambra governed by the Young Progressives Party and led by myself and my fellow Comrade and running mate, Chief Uzu Okagbue.

The Young Progressives Party offers a new path, a government of service and not one that is interested in showmanship; a government that listens to its people and their priorities and most importantly a government that is innovative and not reveling in pedestrian governance.

I, Sir Paul Chukwuma, pledge to serve with humility, transparency, and accountability. I promise you joy. I therefore invite you to join this movement. It is not just enough to vote for YPP on November 8, I implore you to take ownership of the destiny of our beloved Anambra State. We need to take back Anambra from the hands of APGA-led bucanneers and return it to ndi Anambra.

Together, let us build a peaceful, prosperous, and progressive Anambra that works for all. On 8 November, let us turn out in large numbers to cast our votes for YPP (ebe e selu akwukwo ndu).

Anambra deserves better.

May God bless our dear State, Anambra.

May God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

I visited the Shanahan University in Onitsha and was impressed by the level of ongoing work at the University.

During this visit, I took the time to inspect the ongoing projects, and also interacted with the engineer on site. Consequently, I made some clear observations from this visit.

In all, the Shanahan University is a vision whose time has come. I am convinced that this University will set a new record of excellence in academics, training and research.

Five Reasons Why Paul Chukwuma is a Better Candidate Than Charles Soludo

As the Anambra gubernatorial election draws closer, it is pertinent to state that Paul Chukwuma stands head and shoulders above all other candidates and is the de facto choice of the people in the forthcoming election. Paul has captured the attention of enlightened voters and has become the voice of the grassroots — the forgotten people — whom he now represents.

1. He is the Most Educated of All Candidates

Paul Chukwuma is a first-class graduate of Philosophy from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He later studied Law at Baze University, Abuja, where he also graduated with a first class, before proceeding to the University of Derby in the United Kingdom, where he earned an LL.M. in Intellectual Property and Information Law with distinction.

Beyond academics, Paul is a serial entrepreneur and a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. No other candidate in this race comes close to matching his academic and professional accomplishments.

2. A Homegrown Leader Who Truly Understands Anambra

Paul Chukwuma’s deep understanding of Anambra comes from his upbringing. His father worked with the Old Anambra Water Corporation, and young Paul accompanied him across the state as he was transferred from one community to another.

Although Paul hails from Umueri, he grew up in Ihiala, where he had his early education, and later settled with his family in Ekwulobia, where they still maintain a home.

This rich exposure to diverse parts of Anambra has given Paul an intimate understanding of the state’s challenges and potential. His ideas are homegrown, practical, and tailored to Anambra’s realities — not borrowed models from Dubai or Taiwan.

3. Paul Chukwuma is Humble and Respectful

Unlike the current occupier of Agu Awka, who has elevated arrogance and personal attacks into state policy, Paul Chukwuma is humble and respectful.

He values the dignity of every human being and understands that leadership is about service, not ego. Paul will respect institutions, cooperate with traditional rulers, and allow legislative independence. He is open to dialogue and collaboration because he knows that no one has a monopoly on knowledge.

4. He Will Not Benchmark Performance on Road Construction Alone

Paul Chukwuma understands that road construction is the simplest aspect of governance—it merely involves awarding contracts. His vision goes far beyond that.

Paul’s mission is to raise the income and productivity of Ndi Anambra by transforming the state into a hub for industries and innovation.

He will:

Eliminate multiple taxation and streamline the tax system through digitalisation.

Provide incentives for private investment to thrive.

Develop industrial clusters across the state based on local resources and comparative advantages.

For Paul, true governance means creating wealth and expanding opportunities, not just building roads.

5. Paul Chukwuma is a Name You Can Trust

Paul Chukwuma is a self-made entrepreneur who rose from humble beginnings to success. He understands the struggles of ordinary people and the aspirations of the youth.

As a Knight of the Catholic Church, Paul’s life is guided by faith, integrity, and compassion. His commitment is to serve the people of Anambra with honesty and purpose.

Paul Chukwuma is not just another politician — he is a leader you can trust.

PoliticsGov Soludo Forces Students To Stay At Home, Out Of Re-election Desperation by Isaacpositive(op): 1:17pm On Oct 07, 2025
Governor Soludo Forces Students to stay at home out of Re-election bid Desperation

We can confirm that today in Anambra State, students in both government and private schools were forced to stay at home because the governor, Professor Charles Soludo, is shopping for endorsement from teachers of government schools and owners of private schools. This is so shocking, and the lowest this State has gone in any political dispensation.

In a letter dated from the Ministry of Education, October 3, 2025, and addressed to “all private School Owners,” and signed by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, the Governor mandated all school owners to abandon learning today for a jamboree in his desperate bid for all manner of endorsements. The letter entitled, “STATE CELEBRATION OF TEACHERS AND SOLUTION PARENTS MEGA ENDORSEMENT MARCH ON TUESDAY, 7TH OCTOBER,2025,” noted that the disruption of Anambra’s education for Tuesday has been “graciously approved” by the governor.

It is difficult to understand why Governor Soludo is so desperate that he wants to leave nothing untouched in an effort to force his way through, even when it is obvious that he has been rejected by Ndi Anambra. Why is a mere political endorsement that carries absolutely no weight because it does not translate to a vote in itself matter so much to the governor that he must now sacrifice learning for Anambra children for cheap endorsements?

Yesterday, Anambra students were at home because of the Monday sit-at-home, which the governor has failed to tackle in over three years. If Soludo has the faintest public interest at heart, why did he not approve of the so-called Teachers Day on Monday? But because this government lacks depth and any form of interest in the public good, Anambra school children have to lose two days of learning in a week, to the governor’s frantic re-election bid. Soludo is only interested in endorsements by teachers, but not in the welfare of our teachers. Paul Chukwuma of the YPP has assured that he would not only ensure that Anambra teachers get well paid, but that he will also ensure that teachers have quarters and can afford to build their own homes in time. These are real issues that the governor has totally avoided mentioning, much less discussing.

If the governor is confident that he is the only one contesting this election, as he claims, why is he so desperate, and why is he destroying our state and trampling on everything just to get an endorsement?

Ndi Anambra must be decisive in their resolve to send Governor Charles Soludo back home with their votes, come November 8. No amount of desperate antics, manipulation, and forced allegiance can stop the people from rejecting this government at the ballot in exactly one month.

PoliticsTeacher's Day And Soludo's Endorsement Rally by Isaacpositive(op): 1:08pm On Oct 07, 2025
Teacher’s Day and Soludo’s Endorsement Rally: A Mockery of Civil Service Neutrality and Proof that Non-State Actors Now Set the Agenda in Anambra

By Concern Ndi Anambra State

The events surrounding this year’s Teachers’ Day celebration in Anambra State have once again exposed the deep rot in governance under Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo. What was supposed to be a day to honor the noble profession of teaching has been turned into a political endorsement carnival, stripping the civil service of its neutrality and confirming the disturbing reality that non-state actors now dictate the pace of state activities.

It is now common knowledge that the Soludo administration ordered the closure of all schools in the state on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, directing teachers to converge at Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka for what insiders have described as a compulsory political rally disguised as a Teachers’ Day celebration.

Disturbing reports from school heads reveal that teachers were instructed to submit their voter’s card numbers and polling unit codes ahead of the event and to come with their voter’s cards on the day. Even more alarming is the alleged threat of suspension for any teacher who fails to attend, turning what should have been a voluntary celebration into a coerced political show.

Traditionally, World Teachers’ Day is marked globally on October 5. This year, the date fell on a Sunday. In a normal situation, one would expect the state to celebrate on Monday, October 6. But in today’s Anambra, Mondays have become untouchable due to the sit-at-home order imposed by non-state actors, a situation the governor once denied but now quietly accommodates by shifting state functions to other days. By moving the celebration to Tuesday, the government has once again bowed to the dictates of forces outside the state, rather than confronting the problem head-on.

What is even more troubling is the increasing politicization of the civil service. Town unions, traditional institutions, church bodies, teachers, and other public servants are gradually being dragged into partisan politics under this administration. The Teachers’ Day episode is just one in a growing list of instances where institutions meant to serve the public are being turned into tools of political manipulation.

This raises a fundamental question: Why the desperation to secure endorsements through coercion rather than performance? Ndi Anambra are discerning. They understand the difference between genuine support and forced loyalty. By blurring this line, the Soludo administration risks eroding the very foundations of democratic governance in the state.

Anambra has had its fair share of political drama in the past, but never has the neutrality of the civil service been so openly undermined. Using a day meant to celebrate teachers—the backbone of any society—for political gain is not just wrong; it is a betrayal of public trust.

Governor Soludo must remember that true legitimacy cannot be forced; it must be earned through good governance, security, and respect for institutions. Anything short of this is not only a mockery of democracy but also a dangerous precedent for the future of the state.

PoliticsAnambra State Administration Is Sailing On A Tide So Dangerous; YPP Dep, Uzu. by Isaacpositive(op): 3:42pm On Sep 12, 2025
The Anambra State administration is sailing on a tide so dangerous that silence is no longer an option. What is unfolding must be investigated, unraveled, and confronted, or Ndi Anambra will rise, as history has shown, to demand answers that cannot be buried.

Let it be clear: this is not about politics. This is about the sanctity of truth, justice, and the right of Ndi Anambra to live in a state governed by accountability and transparency. I, Uzu Okagbue, Deputy Governorship Candidate of the YPP, state without hesitation that the two recent incidents shaking our state, the brutal assault and stripping of a corps member, and the cold-blooded shooting of a pregnant woman and other victims at the Onitsha Main Market, are now shrouded in a troubling fog of deceit.

Here is the puzzle: the individuals paraded by the police as suspects in these incidents do not match the accounts of the victims and eyewitnesses. In the assault of the corps member, witnesses confirm that a female assailant was among those who carried out the shameful act. Yet, the suspects in custody? All men. How does the government explain this glaring inconsistency?

And what of the market shooting? Ndi Anambra have not been formally told that the real killers of the pregnant woman are in custody. If the suspects are known, why is their identity not openly confirmed? If they are unknown, why the deafening silence?

The question now is simple: what is the State Government hiding? Why this eerie quiet around acts so brazenly committed in broad daylight before dozens of witnesses? Are we to believe that the Nigeria Police is complicit in shielding perpetrators, or worse still, that renegade groups unleashed on the streets of Anambra are acting under tacit approval?

If this government is not hiding a conspiracy against its own people, then let it speak. Let there be full disclosure, swiftly and transparently: just as quick as the press releases churned out by the State Government campaign organization headed by Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu on candidate’s credentials submitted to INEC. Anything less is complicity.

Until then, Ndi Anambra will not rest. We will continue to demand answers, for what is at stake is not only justice for victims but the very soul of our state.

PoliticsPaul Chukwuma: Governor Soludo Is Just Jittery by Isaacpositive(op): 9:59pm On Sep 07, 2025
Paul Chukwuma: Governor Soludo is just Jittery

We have watched the amusing comments of Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, trying to conjure some sort of mockery on 47 years-old Paul Chukwuma, the YPP Governorship candidate, for being young. Professor Soludo’s comments are especially entertaining, considering that at 47 years, Paul Chukwuma is the most prepared and equipped to govern Anambra State today based on verifiable track records.

Soludo, who in 2021, was elected the governor of Anambra State on the assumption that he would not disappoint, has sadly turned into a complete disappointment. Before now, the people trusted that with his impressive academic credentials as the first professor to govern the state, he would finally set Anambra on the path of prosperity and actualize his over a decade-long Dubai-Taiwan vision. Unfortunately, today, the story is different.

After nearly three years in office, Governor Soludo’s administration has left many disappointed. His governance, described largely as non-performing, has failed to deliver anything in the league of the people's expectations. Several of his academic colleagues have gone as far as labelling his tenure as a betrayal, noting that his performance has been no better—if not worse—than governors before him whose academic records pale in comparison. As of today, there is little doubt that Soludo is not only dictatorial, but leaving a legacy of weakening government institutions in Anambra State. He has further strengthened this reputation with poor-quality road contracts, because of his penchant for using low-grade contractors.

Perhaps aware of his underwhelming record, Soludo has his political strategy ahead of the 2025 election convoluted, with his latest attempt to fault young age as a disappointment in governance for someone in the mould of Sir Paul Chukwuma. Rather than campaigning on achievements, he has leaned heavily on iko onu.

We are not unaware of his doctor's admonition to slow down and rest more. At his age as a grandfather, the truth is that Soludo has little to offer, as the last three years has demonstrated. He rushed to Umueri late at night, after he turned down his invitation to the event and was duly represented by a member of his government at the event. Rattled by Paul's unstoppable influence in this election, he made a last minute detour to Umueri at night and all he came to say was that Paul has age on his side.

In truth, times like this when the ban on political campaigns are lifted offer a rare opportunity to showcase his administration’s work. But what has Soludo done? He has turned this crucial exercise into platforms where he ridicules and denigrates responsible, and hardworking citizens of the state as a distraction to discussing his administration's performance.

The governor's recent shade at Sir Paul Chukwuma, a respected son of Anambra from Umueri, widely recognised as the only worthy contender to replace Soludo come March 2026, is nothing short of a calculated attempt to divert attention from real issues.

Sir Paul Chukwuma’s profile is formidable. A first-class graduate of Philosophy from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, he later earned another first-class in Law from Baze University and capped it with an LLM distinction, from the University of Derby. Beyond academics, Paul has established himself as an accomplished entrepreneur with thriving businesses across multiple sectors.

Once again, Sir Paul Chukwuma, is in this race because of real governance issues and not interested in Soludo’s deliberate distractions. We reckon that Soludo can do anything to evade accountability, but, again, we are calling his attention to the real issues of insecurity which led to the death of three Anambra residents in Awka, the same evening he tried in vain to throw a shade at Paul Chukwuma.

We wish to remind Professor Soludo that the progress of Anambra and the safety of the people are far more important than Paul Chukwuma's age or his own ego. No amount of iko onu will distract Sir Paul Chukwuma from the Anambra rescue mission he has begun for the state.

I joined the Make Anambra Great Again (MAGA) team, on a peaceful walk to demonstrate Ndi Anambra’s displeasure with the activities of Udogachi and Ndi Akaodo.

Anambra, sadly, has descended, under this government, into fascism of sorts, as these operatives misuse the authority of government to intimidate and abuse innocent citizens.

We walked peacefully from Aroma Junction in Awka, Anambra State capital, to the Nigerian Police Force Headquarters in Amawbia. We were received by the DCP Operations, DCP Ibrahim Ezekiel, who assured us that our walk will not be in vain.

PoliticsAnambra Bye-election And YPP March To Agu Awka by Isaacpositive(op): 8:42am On Aug 18, 2025
Anambra Bye-Elections and YPP's March To Agu-Awka

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) may have won the two by-elections in Anambra, but the implications of that victory cast a dire shadow on the lives of Ndi Anambra. It is alleged that Soludo’s APGA government in Awka spent over ₦2 billion to prosecute the Anambra South Senatorial election, with each polling unit reportedly receiving ₦1 million. Many participants described the exercise as the most commercialised election in the history of the state, with APGA allegedly offering up to ₦10,000 per vote.

The lesson from this economic “invention” of Soludo at the polling units is simple: Soludo is not invincible after all. He is afraid and fidgeting as the November election draws closer. If he had performed as he claims, why would he need to depend on vote-buying to secure victory for APGA? The deduction is clear—Soludo himself concedes failure and acknowledges his alienation from the voters. The only way he now seeks to induce love from the people is through monetary exchange.

A second lesson confirms the fears many held with the establishment of the Agunechemba security outfit. While violent crime continues unchecked in many urban centres with Soludo aloof, he found it fit to unleash his security men on poor voters in Anambra South—bullying those who refused inducement and dared to fight for the survival of the state.

It should also be noted that Soludo is yet to spend up to ₦2 billion in capital investment on any public educational facility or primary healthcare centre since he was sworn in. Yet he had no qualms deploying such a huge sum within one week of electioneering.

However, despite the unfair nature of the election on Saturday, the steady march of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) under the leadership of Paul Chukwuma is now unmistakable. Within just months of his entrance into YPP, Chukwuma has given the party new determination and ideological fundamentals that are becoming increasingly attractive to Ndi Anambra.

Thus, despite the financialisation of the election and the so-called heavyweights in the major political parties, YPP rose above the waters—not trusting in names, money, or the paraphernalia of government, but in its belief in the people: the poor, the old, the young, the downtrodden, and all who desire a change in Anambra.

The Young Progressives Party is on the march in Anambra, and the green revolution has begun.

PoliticsPaul Chukwuma Exemplifies The Anambra Spirit by Isaacpositive(op): 2:43pm On Jul 26, 2025
Paul Chukwuma Exemplifies the Anambra Spirit

The Anambra Spirit has always been defined by a relentless “can-do” attitude, a spirit that refuses to accept limitations or settle for mediocrity. In Anambra, we don’t just strive to be mediocres; we aim to be the best.

It was this same indomitable spirit that inspired the people of Nnewi in the aftermath of the civil war. Rather than rebuilding their lives in other communities where they could become easy targets at the slightest provocation, they chose to build their markets and industries at home. At the time, it was an unconventional decision, but history has since vindicated that wisdom.

That same drive has propelled Anambra to the pinnacle of various human development indices. Our entrepreneurial community has become the engine room of our advancement, conquering the trade and commerce landscape of Nigeria. Today, private individuals in Anambra build roads, schools, and hospitals, often outpacing the government's efforts. This sets a new benchmark and calls for a more visionary, more responsive government.

It was this spirit that inspired Paul Chukwuma, five years ago, to begin the ambitious construction of roads across his Nneye community in Umueri, Anambra East. It wasn’t for politics or applause. It was the Anambra spirit in action: the will to do more, to lead by example, and to solve problems before complaining about them.

But while Anambra citizens continue to raise the bar, the Soludo-led government at Agu-Awka has sadly lagged behind. After three years in office, the administration’s major performance claim remains the construction of a few kilometres of road, with many of questionable quality. Never in our recent history has a governor delivered so little, even while having so much at his disposal.

For Ndi Anambra, development can no longer be measured by road construction alone. Our people want an economically viable Anambra, a state where young talents can thrive without having to migrate to western Nigeria in search of opportunities. We can not continue to allow Western Nigeria to harvest our brightest minds while our government remains amused with amusement parks

Anambra needs a new kind of leadership, bold, youthful, and ambitious. A leader in the mould of Paul Chukwuma. We need a governor who understands the urgency of economic transformation and is prepared to drive aggressive reforms, particularly in energy to power the emergence of manufacturing clusters across the state.

That’s why in February 2024, Paul Chukwuma visited Geometric Power in Aba not for photo ops but to study a working model of private sector-led power generation and how it can be replicated in Anambra

Because what Anambra needs is big business — businesses that retain jobs, create wealth, and significantly grow our internally generated revenue without resorting to extortion or enabling the Agbero system of Gov. Soludo where citizens are brawn beaten daily while the government remains silent, in support of their oppresors.

Unfortunately, the current government seems overwhelmed by the expectations of Ndi Anambra and has fallen back into the comfort zone of mediocrity. It lacks the Anambra spirit.

It is time to shift gears. It is time to hand over leadership to someone who exemplifies excellence and who embodies that resilient Anambra spirit. Paul Chukwuma is not a politician of words, he is a man of action, excellence, and results.

Let's vote YPP on November 8 to make this change possible!

Anambra 2025: Sir Paul Chukwuma (Onyechinazo) – The True Hope for a United and Progressive Anambra

---

As Anambra State prepares for the all-important gubernatorial election on November 8, 2025, one name stands tall amidst the noise and shifting alliances—Sir Paul Chukwuma, the candidate of the Young Progressive Party, YPP.

Let it be known: any attempt to downplay Sir Paul's gubernatorial aspiration is a disservice to the future of Anambra State. Ndi Anambra have seen his dedication, felt his impact, and now rally around him because we know he represents the kind of leadership that puts the people first.

Sir Paul is not just another politician; he is a symbol for unity, progress, and purposeful governance. His deep-rooted understanding of Anambra’s socio-political and economic landscape gives him a unique edge—he knows what must be done, and when. More importantly, he knows how to do it.

As we approach the November 8 polls, we must be fully prepared to birth the government we deserve as a people, by looking at what truly matters in a leader. Sir Paul transcends the politics of division—he is a bridge-builder who embraces all, regardless of political leaning, religious background, or regional affiliation. His focus is simple: deliver results, uphold integrity, and lead with empathy.

From infrastructure development to education, from youth empowerment to community health initiatives, Sir Paul has shown what a people-first leader looks like. His track record is not built on empty promises—it’s written in the lives he has touched across the 21 local government areas of Anambra.

In this era where trust in governance is fragile, accountability must be non-negotiable. Sir Paul has always led by example—transparent, responsible, and responsive. A vote for him is a vote for a government that listens and delivers.

Perhaps what endears him most to the people is his approachable and humane leadership style. He’s not distant from the people; he’s one of us. He speaks our language, shares in our struggles, and works daily to uplift the lives of Ndi Anambra.

Our state has long been plagued by the politics of identity—north vs. south, this community vs. that—but Sir Paul Chukwuma calls us to something higher: unity, shared prosperity, and collective development.

By rallying behind his candidacy, we send a powerful message—that Anambra is ready to reward competence, character, and compassion above all else.

As the Anambra 2025 election draws near, let us rise above politics as usual. Let us choose progress over pettiness, unity over division, and results over rhetoric.

Sir Paul Chukwuma (Onyechinazo) is not just a candidate—he is the hope of a new Anambra. Let’s walk with him into a brighter tomorrow.

PoliticsYPP And Paul Chukwuma: Anambra's Joy Is Coming by Isaacpositive(op): 11:12am On Jul 07, 2025
YPP and Paul Chukwuma: Anambra’s Joy is Coming!

A few days ago when we read the story of an Anambra resident who was extorted millions of naira by Soludo's Agunechemba, we know that this one story is a metaphor for many others like it. The security outfit, which seem to have gone on overdrive in their bid to extort from Ndi Anambra, has now fully transformed into yet another problem for Ndi Anambra. Human rights activist, Harrison Gwamnishu, has documented tens of extra-judicial activities committed by men of Soludo's Agunechemba who now arbitrarily arrest citizens, frame them up and force them to pay heavily for their freedom — a state-sanctioned kidnapping.

If you're thinking Agunechemba methodology is a one-off scenario, remember the men of the Anti-touting agency of Soludo, also known as ndi aka odo, for their crude and excruciating torture methods of using the pestle (aka odo) to dismantle the various joints of a human body while the person is alive.

Torture and violence have become a hallmark of various agencies under Soludo's government. A commentator noted that Anambra State is probably the only state in the world where touts were empowered to fight touts.

These Soludo-sanctioned touts, known as ndi aka odo, have grown so brazenly that they now wage wars on communities such as Obosi and detain residents indiscriminately, such as that of Emenike of Enugu-Ukwu.

Last year, Chief Akaneme Okechukwu, a former chairman of the Onitsha Chamber of Commerce who had given his all to the growth of businesses in Anambra, was beaten to a pulp by men who work for ndi Anambra state government, paralysing him forever. He is now bedridden, perhaps a befitting reward from Soludo for his support to the growth of commerce in the state. Another commentator recently linked the growing use of crutches in the state to the efficency of Soludo's aka odo men and other agencies of the Anambra State government.

While residents continue to cry out over the illegal and sustained excessiveness of these various agencies, Soludo has remained an Eze onye agwanam. He has deified himself and is now beyond reproach. The so-called civil rights activists, who are always vociferous in condemning such actions elsewhere, have had their hands deep in the cookie jar, thus lost the moral superiority to question Eze onye agwanam.

The effect? Anambra is now the wild wild 'East', where government no longer protects the law it swore to uphold, and has given its blessings to men who understand the use of crude force to reign free.

In his usual aloofness, where he holds the superiority of his own ideas over others, Governor Soludo does not recognise the effect on trade. In the last three years, no investor has set up shop in Anambra State. A professor who ought to understand the direct link between law, order, taxes and investment, has pleaded ignorance — assembling all manner of men, granting them licences to collect one fee or the other. The resultant effect is that Anambra has become a field of touts, where residents are chased down for all manner of fee.

The amusement is that the same government who created these touts has now created an agency made up of touts to chase touts. Confusion!

But, not to worry, Ndi Anambra, joy is coming! The days of over-taxation and brutality are coming to an end. The end of over-taxation, overzealous government agencies and an unsympathetic governor is near. The Young Progressives Party, led by Sir Paul Chukwuma, is here to bring back sympathy, the rule of law and emotional intelligence to governance.

Together, Let Us Write a New Story — A story of Restoration, Progress, and Unity

I, sir Paul chukwuma stand before you today, not only as governorship candidate
but as your brother, your son, and your servant.

From the first day I took this mantle of leadership, I knew it was not a position for comfort — it is a call to serve. A call that demands sacrifice, courage, and a heart that beats for the people.

*I have seen your struggles. Heard your cries*

*My mission is clear:* to give our people a voice that cannot be ignored, to bring governance closer to your doorsteps, and to make anambra state a beacon of progress and unity.

*This is not a dream for me— it is my destiny. I believe in people-oriented leadership.* I believe in empowering our women, educating our children, and creating opportunities for our youths to thrive.

*Let it be known today: I am not here to make empty promises*. I am here to work, to build, and to deliver. I am here because I was born for this. *I am here because I will always remain honorable — true to my word, true to my people, and true to God.*

Thank you.

God bless Anambra state...

Sir Paul Chukwuma: The Beacon of Hope for a Prosperous Anambra

Ndi Anambra today are feeling disillusioned following a failed Dubai Taiwan experiment that started more than three years ago. They badly want to correct a costly leadership mistake. Thankfully, November 8, 2025 presents a rare opportunity for ndi Anambra to rewrite their leadership story—and Sir Paul Chukwuma is the man for that moment.

Known fondly as Onyechinazo and Onwa, Sir Paul Chukwuma who is the Governorship Candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) has consistently proven himself as a man who completely leans on God and as someone who shines the light. A capable leader, bridge-builder, and a unifier who is in sync with the yearnings of the grassroot, Sir Paul exemplifies the kind of leader Anambra State desperately needs in these uncertain times.

While many play politics, Sir Paul Chukwuma has been quietly empowering lives—from building educational opportunities for underprivileged students to supporting health interventions and creating sustainable empowerment initiatives for youths across the state. He is a true friend of the vulnerables in our society, a quality he is sure to bring into public service as Governor.

What sets him apart is not just his track record—but his deep emotional connection with the people. He listens, he understands, and most importantly, he acts. In a state where politics has often been tainted by division and stagnation, Sir Paul Chukwuma offers a new way forward: a people-first agenda, grounded in humility, experience, and innovation. His accessibility and integrity have earned him admiration across all local governments in Anambra.

As we approach the November 8 governorship election, Ndi Anambra must ask themselves a simple question: Do we want more of the same, or are we ready for a fresh start with a man who sees leadership as service, not a privilege?

From every political indicator and grassroots sentiment on display across the state currently, one truth rings loud: Sir Paul Chukwuma is not just a YPP candidate—he is a movement. He is the hope of a new Anambra; the rallying point of all those who believe that Anambra deserves better than its present state.

It is therefore time for ndi Anambra to ditch a rickety APGA vehicle that has brought nothing but sorrow, extortion and brutality on them in the past three years and get on board a brand new YPP vehicle that is driven by a true Democrat and a man who believes in practical governance that positively impacts the lives of the majority. Sir Paul Chukwuma is that name!

PoliticsSir Paul Chukwuma:a Man Driven By The Vision To Rescue Anambra by Isaacpositive(op): 6:27pm On Jun 28, 2025
Paul Chukwuma: A Man Driven by the Vision to Rescue Anambra

In a recent conversation, I was reminded that Governor Charles Soludo has not allocated up to ₦500 million in the past three years for capital projects at the Anambra State University. The situation in public primary and secondary schools is even worse, zero capital funding within the same period. Classroom blocks are collapsing, and roofs are leaking, leaving pupils and students soaked whenever it rains. A teacher in one of these public schools who wished to remain anonymous informed me that every time it rains, academic activities come to a halt due to multiple leaking roofs.

From my understanding, many public schools across Anambra are still standing today only because town unions and well-meaning individuals have taken it upon themselves to halt the decay.

The health sector fares no better. None of the 326 primary healthcare centres across the state has witnessed any form of transformation. General hospitals spread across the 21 local government areas remain in dire conditions, having received neither upgrades nor essential funding.

If Governor Soludo, a Professor of Economics is not investing in education or healthcare, two of the most critical indicators of human development, then the pressing question becomes: What is he spending the state’s resources on?

It appears the Soludo administration, perhaps in recognition of its failure in key sectors, has resorted to aggressively marketing just two projects:

1. A Government House, the main structures of which were built over two decades ago under Governor Mbadinuju.

2. An amusement park, now dubbed Funcity, into which billions of naira have been sunk, with no transparency regarding costs or procurement.

Despite these glaring failures, Soludo seems to have hypnotised the state. Clerics, bishops, entertainers, and members of the Anambra intelligentsia are routinely ferried to these two sites, returning only to sing the Governor’s praises. I have tried to rationalise the mindset of these elites. Could it be, as Okey Ndibe once observed, that we have now fully embraced a culture of low expectations? Or perhaps, worse still, have they been induced to uphold a culture of silence?

In the last three years, Anambra has received circa over a trillion naira as both state and local government allocation from FAAC, yet critical infrastructures are not funded

Governor Soludo has not only wasted scarce resources by making Funcity his signature project, but he has also locked in another billion naira for its grand opening. All this while our public schools lack roofs, chairs, and desks, and our hospitals lack the basic equipment needed for surgical procedures. In the same period, Anambra State refused to provide the matching funds required to access the UBEC grant, which could have injected billions into basic educational infrastructure.

The simple truth? The Soludo government values entertainment over education.

In this involuntary era of silence, an era sustained by elites who cheer mediocrity and overlook critical decay, one man stands out: Paul Chukwuma. A first-class graduate from multiple institutions, Paul has chosen to swim against the tide.

He argues that Anambra deserves better.
That Anambra needs massive investment in education and healthcare to produce the skilled residents necessary for the state's industrial transformation.
That quality should take precedence over quantity in road construction and that democratic institutions must not be tied to the aprons of the executives.

On all these counts, I agree with Paul Chukwuma:

Anambra Deserves Better.

He is not just a strong contender, he is the right choice—a true symbol of unity, progress, and people-oriented leadership. In a time when our dear state is yearning for visionary leadership, Sir Paul Chukwuma shines as the beacon of hope and transformation.

Over the years, his commitment to the growth of Anambra has been unwavering. From youth empowerment to educational development, from healthcare interventions to infrastructural progress, his impact is visible and meaningful.

PoliticsSir Paul Chukwuma's, The YPP Candidate In Anambra Mark 2025 Sickle Cell Day. by Isaacpositive(op): 7:08pm On Jun 19, 2025
In commemoration of the 2025 United Nations World Sickle Cell Day, our team, led by our Deputy Governorship candidate, Uzu Okagbue, was at the Sickle Cell Orphanage and Underprivileged Home, Agulu, not only to celebrate the day with at least 16 sickle cell children living at the centre, but to also highlight the need for us to jointly end sickle cell anemia. I have a particular interest in this because I am often reminded of my brother, Hyginus Chukwuma, who suffered from sickle cell. Many of us have a close family member or friend who has suffered from sickle cell. This is why we should no longer accept this as a verdict of nature.

To be able to stop sickle cell, we must jointly stamp out the scourge of ignorance that enables parents to give birth to children before they ascertain their genotype. The government, communities, Churches, individuals, and all of us must be committed to ensuring that every adult is armed with the knowledge that sickle cell is a consequence of two adults giving birth when they should not jointly procreate because of their genotype. This knowledge is fundamental to ending sickle cell. Nonetheless, sickle cell is not a death sentence for those living with it. It is just one of those challenges of life, and every one of us has their fair share of life’s challenges. But we can end it, and we will end it.

For the time being, today, we honour the silent warriors; those still fighting and those we have lost. Your strength lives on, and your pain is not forgotten. In your memory, we press on, for hope, for healing, and a cure.

We'll decisively tackle insecurity to allow businesses thrive in Anambra - Sir Paul Chukwuma

June 16, 2025

The governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Sir Paul Chukwuma (Onwa Umueri) has promised to prioritise the restoration of law and order across all parts of Anambra State currently experiencing seemingly unsolvable insecurity challenges as part of efforts to boost business activities especially the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises - MSMEs, that drive Anambra's economy.

Sir Paul Chukwuma made this promise on Sunday when he was hosted by the founder of Mega Abbattoir and Suya Spot located at the heart of Enugwu-Ukwu town, Chief Michael Onyeka Obidi (Akuenwebe). Sir Paul Chukwuma, who was highly impressed by the entrepreneurial resilience of Chief Obidi noted that it was remarkable that despite the harsh business environment in the state, Mega Abbattoir is thriving.

The elated YPP Governorship Candidate in the November 8 governorship election in Anambra State added that when elected as Governor of Anambra State, his administration shall create a good security atmosphere necessary to bring back Anambra's lost night life. He also envisioned that ventures like Mega Abbattoir will be replicated across many towns and sub-urbs in Anambra, which will not only expand the state's productivity but create more jobs for ndi Anambra. Sir Paul Chukwuma equally promised to relieve the excessive tax burden currently placed on the neck of many MSMEs by the Soludo administration.

"In Anambra today, it is sad that businesses especially MSMEs are being harrased by multiple government agencies to pay all manner of taxes and levies that eventually find their way into the private pockets of the many revenue contractors being used by the Soludo administration to complicate tax collection. This makes running a business in Anambra to be draining", Sir Paul Chukwuma stated.

"When you factor in the insecurity angle that makes businesses to close on time, you begin to wonder how Anambra intends to become a serious economic giant. It is disheartening that today in Anambra, by 7pm almost every city or town in Anambra is diserted, as people rush to get home. Movements between communities become risky. How do economic activities thrive in such an environment?

"Instead of focusing on the things that matter to the majority of Ndi Anambra, the present state government decided to spend unnamed billions to build swimming pools and "jangleovers" in Awka. Is it not someone who has fed his family that will have time and money to go and swim in Soludo’s pools or swing in his jangleovers?", Paul Chukwuma queried.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, the CEO of Mega Abbattoir and Suya Spot who also owns Choice Kitchens, expressed his personal gratitude to the YPP Governorship Candidate, Sir Paul Chukwuma, describing him as one of his greatest pillars in business. Chief Obidi, a strong supporter of YPP, said that Sir Paul Chukwuma understands what it means to run a business and the challenges entrepreneurs in Anambra face especially due to the failure of the state government to create a breathing space for businesses.

The Deputy Governorship Candidate of YPP, Chief Uzu Okagbue (Ezennia) in his remarks, decried the growing hardship in Anambra with the disposable income in the pockets of household shrinking by the day due to declining productivity. He promised ndi Anambra that with a YPP government in Anambra State led by Sir Paul Chukwuma as Governor and himself as Deputy Governor, Anambra State will rise again.

The YPP Guber candidate, Sir Paul Chukwuma, and his running mate, Chief Uzuegbuna Okagbue, alongside members of the YPP campaign team were treated to a rousing and electric reception at the Mega Abbattoir and Suya Spot in Enugwu-Ukwu.

PoliticsTime To Strengthen Democratic Credentials Of States And Local Government . by Isaacpositive(op): 7:06pm On Jun 12, 2025
Time to Strengthen the Democratic Credentials of States and Local Government Institutions

By Sir Paul Chukwuma
YPP Gubernatorial Candidate, Anambra State

I vividly remember May 29, 1999, when Nigeria returned to democratic rule after 16 years of military dictatorship. That day was met with a mixture of uncertainty and silence. History had taught Nigerians to be cautious, and many feared democracy would again be short-lived. But here we are, 26 years later, having sustained democratic governance through successive transitions. We are now firmly in our third decade of democratic experience.

I congratulate every Nigerian as we mark our 26th Democracy Day anniversary. I understand that many citizens feel disillusioned and betrayed by the outcomes of democracy. Some question its credibility and impact. But having lived through both military and civilian eras, I can confidently say that democracy, despite its imperfections, has delivered more progress than dictatorship ever did.

Under democratic rule, Nigeria's economy has grown far beyond its pre-1999 levels. Infrastructure development has spread beyond the federal capital to every part of the country. Fundamental rights such as freedom of speech, the right to vote and be voted for, and freedom of association have also seen significant improvement.

However, it is not yet uhuru. Democracy is not a finished product that comes neatly packaged. It is a historical journey shaped through struggle, sacrifice, and civic engagement. Democracy thrives on the constant tension between the governed and those in power; it is in this struggle that institutions are tested, refined, and deepened.

The democracy we enjoy today was borne out of the sacrifice of countless Nigerians across ethnic and religious lines who stood firm in defence of the people’s mandate on June 12, 1993. Amongst them were our current president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the late Prof. Humprey Nwosu, Olisa Agbakogba SAN, and many others. That struggle culminated in the birth of the Fourth Republic on May 29, 1999. It is only fitting that June 12 is now recognised as our official Democracy Day, a lasting tribute to the spirit of resistance and resilience.

Nobel laureates Daron Acemoglu and James A. Robinson, in their book The Narrow Corridor: States, Societies, and the Fate of Liberty, argue that democracy emerges and survives through a power struggle between state and society, between governments and civic organisations. This has proven true in Nigeria. Our federal institutions today are relatively more transparent and accountable than their state and local government counterparts. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), federal budgets, and national arms of government come under more scrutiny, largely because of sustained civic engagement and media attention. This level of oversight is often absent at the state and local government levels.

As we mark this year’s Democracy Day, I believe it’s time to broaden our democratic lens. Citizens and Civil Liberty Organisations must begin to shine more light on the democratic institutions of states and local governments. Strengthening transparency, accountability, and institutional independence at these levels is not only necessary. It is essential.

The quality of governance closest to the people has the greatest impact on their daily lives.

Happy Democracy Day.

PoliticsThe Candidate Of YPP In Anambra State Governorship Election, Sir Paul Chukwuma by Isaacpositive(op): 10:33pm On May 30, 2025
May 30th

Sir Paul Chukwuma

I was born eight years after the guns fell silent, yet the faint echoes of that war still clung to our homes, to our hearts. My father, a civil servant who had seen the worst of it, spoke of the war in such vivid detail that even as a child, I could feel its fury, the explosions that shook the earth, the silent cries of children hollowed out by hunger, families sundered forever.

War is a desolation with no glimmer of goodness in it. Our parents were right when they said, Ozoemena— may it never happen again.

As a child born after the war, I grew up amidst the quiet resilience of a generation determined to forge a future beyond the wreckage of the past. Our fathers and mothers refused to be defined by what had been lost. They carried the scars of the war not as burdens but as reminders of the duty to rebuild. They journeyed out into Nigeria, the same land once stained with their blood, to claim it, not with weapons, but with the sweat of their brows and the power of their minds.

I quickly came to understand that the greatest asset the Igbo had was not the land that was bombed, nor the buildings that were left in ruins. It was something deeper, something inborn and indestructible. It was human capital: the skill, the knowledge, the drive to create wealth, wherever and whenever.
And in less than a decade, they had reclaimed more than they lost, not through pity or anger, but through the sheer force of their human capital. They did not linger in blame or endless grievance. They understood that survival and success come from harnessing what is within and that no one can take that away.

Yet, today, as newer generations look back, there is a risk of losing sight of that lesson. The true inheritance of the war is not in endless remembrance of sorrow, nor in feeding old resentments, but in the unwavering will to create again and again. To see not Nigeria as a barrier but as a canvas of endless possibilities.

This is the mindset that must shape us: that Nigeria, despite its wounds and contradictions, is our home to transform, a place for our human capital to bloom.

I share in the vision of Ohanaeze Ndigbo to elevate May 30th into Heroes Day: not a day of fear or hushed voices, but a solemn day of remembrance and vision. A day to honour those who fell so that we might rise.

Let May 30th be filled with the voices of our thinkers, our dreamers, our builders: in lectures, in symposiums, in heartfelt conversations. Let it be a day when the Igbo elite and intelligentsia gather, not to lament, but to chart the future, a future rooted in human capital, in enterprise, in the power to heal and to build anew.

Yet, May 30th does not belong to Ndi Igbo alone. It is a Nigerian day, a day that holds a mirror to us all. For on that day in 1967, this nation was tested, and it cracked.

May 30th is a call for Nigeria to remember what happens when we turn away from one another, when we do not listen, when we let inequity fester. It is a day that must push us to forge a deeper unity, not merely in slogans, but in policy and in shared progress.

Let it remind us that national unity, once broken, is never mended without cost, and that cost must never be paid again.

Ozoemena!

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu: Two Years of Resolute Reforms in a Tenuous Republic

_By Sir Paul Chukwuma (Onwa Umueri)_

A close confidant once remarked, during the crescendo of the 2023 general elections, that it would take a “mad man” to aspire to lead Nigeria at such a perilous juncture. His words were less hyperbole and more diagnosis: Nigeria, at that time, represented the archetype of a “wicked problem”; a multidimensional crisis with no easy resolution and several painful trade-offs. To him, the presidency was a poisoned chalice; any occupant was fated for disillusionment and the slow erosion of political capital.

Indeed, the economic outlook was bleak. Inflation had soared to 22.4% in May 2023, driven by structural inefficiencies, supply shocks, and a ballooning fiscal deficit. Nigeria’s public finances were deeply strained. Over 96% of government revenue in 2022 was used to service debt, according to the Debt Management Office, with total public debt at ₦87.91 trillion by Q3 2023. Compounding the fiscal nightmare was the fuel subsidy, which guzzled over ₦4.4 trillion annually, an unsustainable regime that effectively subsidized consumption at the expense of capital formation and long-term productivity.

The foreign exchange market was no less chaotic. The naira was arbitraged across multiple rates, official, NAFEX, and parallel, creating distortions that stifled investment and undermined confidence. At its nadir, the FX backlog had risen to $7 billion, trapping investors and importers alike in a bureaucratic quagmire. Simultaneously, the Central Bank’s unorthodox monetary policy, marked by uncontrolled “Ways and Means” advances exceeding ₦27 trillion, injected vast amounts of unbacked liquidity into the system, fueling further inflation and currency depreciation.

All these unfolded against a backdrop of rampant insecurity; from banditry in the North West to separatist unrest in the South East, and deepening ethnic and religious divisions that imperiled national cohesion.

It was into this inferno that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu stepped on May 29, 2023. His declaration that “fuel subsidy is gone,” delivered impromptu during his inaugural address, was more than rhetorical flourish. It was the clearest indication that he would eschew political expediency for structural realignment. For decades, Nigerian presidents had flirted with subsidy removal, often retreating at the altar of public discontent. Tinubu, however, acted; decisively and without subterfuge.

His administration swiftly embarked on a macroeconomic recalibration.

The unification of the FX windows in June 2023 effectively floated the naira, allowing market forces to determine its value. This move, although painful in the short term, addressed the rent-seeking culture that had metastasized under the previous multiple-rate regime. By eliminating arbitrage opportunities, the reforms aimed to redirect capital into productive enterprise rather than speculative gain.

The Central Bank, under new leadership, adopted a more orthodox monetary posture, tightening liquidity, raising the Monetary Policy Rate (MPR) to 24.75%, and clearing a significant portion of the FX backlog by Q1 2024. These actions restored some degree of investor confidence. The naira, which had plunged to over ₦1,900/$ in early 2024, rebounded to ₦1,200/$ by May 2025; reflecting improved dollar inflows and coordinated fiscal-monetary alignment.

The results are beginning to show. The Nigerian Stock Exchange’s All-Share Index surged past 110,000 points in Q1 2025, its highest in history, buoyed by foreign portfolio inflows and improved corporate earnings. Many blue-chip companies posted positive FY2024 results, a testament to stabilizing macro fundamentals. According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), GDP growth in Q1 2025 stood at 3.5%, with the World Bank projecting a 3.7% expansion for the full year, driven largely by services, telecommunications, and a recovering oil sector.

Inflation, though still elevated at 31.7% in April 2025, has begun to moderate on a month-on-month basis. Crucially, food inflation—once breaching over 40%—has shown signs of deceleration, thanks in part to temporary import waivers on grains and fertilizer subsidies aimed at stabilizing supply chains. Nonetheless, challenges persist. Insecurity, price gouging by middlemen, and logistics inefficiencies continue to constrain agricultural productivity and inflate prices.

Tax revenue is also improving. The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) reported a record ₦12.3 trillion in tax receipts for FY2024; a 47% increase year-on-year, largely attributable to compliance reforms and digitization. The recently passed Fiscal Reform and Tax Policy Act, once assented to by the president, is expected to deepen revenue mobilization, reduce leakages, and expand the tax net beyond oil.

But beyond the metrics, the soul of the nation needs mending.

No economic rebound is sustainable without national unity. Ethnic mistrust, religious polarisation, and regional marginalisation remain potent threats to the republic’s stability. The administration must therefore deepen dialogue, promote inclusion, and deliberately engineer a sense of shared ownership in the Nigerian project.

President Tinubu’s tenure, now at its two-year mark, is defined by audacity. His reforms, though costly in the short term, have the potential to shift Nigeria from consumption to production, from patronage to productivity, from reactive governance to strategic statecraft.

But the work is far from done.

The path forward must prioritise inclusive growth. Social safety nets must be expanded. Infrastructure investment must be visible and efficient. Local manufacturing must be shielded from volatility and incentivised for scale. Job creation, especially for Nigeria’s 70% youth population, must move from rhetoric to reality.

If sustained, these early reforms may well be remembered as the foundation of a new Nigeria; competitive, coherent, and confident on the global stage. But if truncated or mismanaged, they may be mourned as yet another “what could have been.”

Mr. President, history is watching. And, so far, you have chosen the hard path of reform over the easy applause of populism. For that, posterity may yet applaud.

Congratulations on two years of purposeful leadership.

May your courage yield enduring fruit for this nation.

Children's Day Celebration: YPP Gubernatorial Candidate, Sir Paul Chukwuma, Vows to Revitalise Public Schools in Anambra

As part of activities marking the 2025 International Children’s Day, the Young Progressives Party (YPP) Gubernatorial Candidate for Anambra State, Sir Paul Chukwuma, has pledged to revitalise public schools through targeted investments in both human capital and infrastructure.

Speaking through his media office, Sir Paul stressed that no meaningful development can occur without prioritising public education.

“It is impossible to invest in the future or achieve sustainable economic prosperity without bold and deliberate investments in our public education system,” he stated.

Sir Paul noted that nearly two-thirds of all students in Anambra are enrolled in public primary and secondary schools, yet these institutions remain largely neglected.

“Infrastructure in many public schools is either decayed or decaying, and a number of teachers are out of touch with modern teaching methods. As a result, many students struggle to compete academically or meet basic knowledge expectations,” he said.

He also recalled the golden era of public education:

“Three decades ago, it was a thing of pride to attend a public school. A First School Leaving Certificate could secure a job in the civil service due to the quality of education received. Sadly, years of underinvestment have reversed those gains, turning many public schools into breeding grounds for societal ills rather than centres of learning. If elected, I will prioritise the overhaul of public education. Infrastructure must be modernised, and teachers are properly incentivised to deliver age-appropriate and impactful learning.”

Sir Paul Chukwuma commended the efforts of the Catholic and Anglican church towards education in the state, describing them as the fulcrum of the various academic excellence the state is known for over the years. He promised to collaborate with them to strengthen education in the state and also to inculcate their model into the public schools to achieve excellence all round.

Sir Paul, who is also the founder of Olivia University in Burundi, a science-focused institution, underscored the importance of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education.

“ As an educator, I understand the importance of STEM education in propelling societal growth. My administration will place special emphasis on STEM education at both the primary and secondary levels to redirect the minds of Anambra children toward solution-driven learning, innovation, and creativity from an early age.”

In his closing remarks, Sir Paul extended warm felicitations to all students of Anambra extraction, encouraging them to continue striving for excellence, as education remains the surest path to success. He also expressed deep appreciation to teachers across the state for their selfless and invaluable service, often rendered under challenging conditions.

Happy Children’s Day!

Statement on the Murder of Barr Rolex Ifeanyi Iloakasia in Anambra State

I received with immense shock the news of the murder of Barr. Rolex Iloakasia, a lawyer and the President General of Aguleri community in Anambra East local government area of Anambra State. Barr. Rolex was murdered yesterday, May 15, on his way from court in Anambra State. This extremely painful loss signposts a dangerous descent into the state of nature of sorts, which has been going on in Anambra State.

The brutal execution of a budding, young, and promising legal professional and a community leader of good standing in the mold of Barr. Rolex, stands condemned in clear terms. It is shocking that some armed thugs can trail some people on their way in Anambra and open fire on them without consequence. This barbaric act is an attack on Anambra State, it is an attack on the future of Anambra State, it is an attack on all of us, and it must be completely condemned by all.

I have now read a report that the perpetrators of this atrocious criminality had been apprehended or neutralized. If indeed so, then it gives a temporary respite. However, the current government in Anambra State must live up to its duty of protecting the lives and properties of the people of Anambra State. We don’t have to wait for criminals to act before they are trailed and apprehended. We don’t have to allow criminals to overrun our state before we start to act. The government of Anambra State must therefore work closely with law enforcement agencies to ensure that criminals who have a free ride in Anambra State are rounded up and dealt with according to the law. The government must retune its strategy and shift from mere apprehension of criminals after they have inflicted damage, to crime prevention and control.

I extend my deepest condolences to the family of Barr. Rolex, and the entire Aguleri community. May the good Lord comfort you all and may the soul of the departed rest in the Lord’s bosom, Amen.

As political activity intensifies in Anambra, aspirants of major political parties continue its engagement with political blocs, forging alliances, intensifying stake-holder interactions, and initiating new political frontiers in furtherance of political goals. The feelers amongst political pundits is that the contest in November would be fierce, given that the incumbent has scored low owing to its inability to protect the lives and properties of Ndi Anambra. Moreover , in the contest to come in November, the incumbent would do battle against three opponents with intense firepower from three different fronts.

Indeed, the political clouds in Anambra are charged and remain gloomy for the incumbent. An adept political astrologer can forecast how the storm of public sentiment would direct the torrents of votes in the coming election. Whilst Soludo's popularity continues to plummet given his disastrous showing and his poor handling of relationships, the stocks continue to rise for Sir Paul Chukwuma amongst Ndi Anambra that been at the receiving end of Soludo's many incompetences.

Sir Paul Chukuma remains the only candidate who possesses the requisite qualities that are sellable to the Anambra electorate. This aspirant, unlike the other two, is without the baggage of a shady past nor faced with party leadership squabbles and its attendant litigations, which might impair political operations. Instead, this aspirant is young, progressive in thought, ebullient, cerebral, and bears intrinsic leadership capabilities.

The Paul Chukwuma-Shiver is palpable as an insider source in the governor's kitchen cabinet would reveal that the biggest fear/threat to the governor's re-election is Sir Paul Chukwuma A man who matches Soludo intellect for intellect, and with a large youthful following that can tip the scales to upturn the hold of the APGA on Anambra.

The aim of Sir Paul Chukwuma backed by his youthful army is to redirect, reshape, and redefine governance in Anambra. The conversation is ongoing with Ndi Anambra from all strata of the state. The response and reactions have been uniform, and with one voice, the youths have jointly echoed that "Soludo agaghi achizi Anambra ozo"!

Welcome to Anambra, Mr President — The Young Progressives Party in Anambra Supports the Renewed Hope Agenda

Mr President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on behalf of myself and the members of our party, the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Anambra Chapter, I warmly welcome you to our great state, Anambra.

Mr President, your August visit to our dear state marks the first presidential visit to Anambra in over a decade outside of a campaign season.

Your love for Ndi Anambra is not in doubt. You have consistently stood by our state in times of need. Just a few weeks ago, you flagged off the second phase of road construction around the Second Niger Bridge. You have also sustained efforts to complete the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway — a critical lifeline for our people.

Your Excellency, we acknowledge the brave decisions you are making to return Nigeria to the path of sustainable growth. Your Renewed Hope economic reforms are a painful but necessary corrective surgery to restore Nigeria to a sound economic foundation. This agenda focuses on increasing agricultural output by transforming Nigeria into a hub of mechanised farming — beginning with the recent purchase of 2,000 tractors and consistent support for smallholder farmers. You have also streamlined taxes and tax administration through a new bill aimed at transforming the business environment and easing the burden on enterprises across the country.

The Young Progressives Party is currently the rave-of-the-moment party in Anambra State. We are supported by thousands of passionate youths committed to ending mediocrity and transforming Anambra into a truly progressive state.

At the YPP, we genuinely believe in your Renewed Hope Agenda. We have tailored our agricultural policies to align with your focus on smallholder farmers and food security. Our vision for health, education, and targeted infrastructure growth mirrors the ideals of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

We are focused on equipping and modernising healthcare centres across the state to ensure access to quality healthcare for all, regardless of class or status.

In education, we share your vision of transforming the educational landscape. Like you, we are committed to scaling up infrastructure in public schools, making them skill-focused, and training quality teachers who understand what it truly means to educate and be educated.

In business and economic reform, we fully support your proposed tax reforms. Our vision in Anambra is to streamline tax collection into a few clear and unambiguous categories, with a seamless and painless process for taxpayers. In support of your industrialisation drive, we aim to make Anambra the industrial hub of the South-East by ensuring energy availability. We plan to harness the abundant domestic gas resources in Anambra to achieve this goal. The YPP will also champion a “Nigerian First” policy — with “Made in Anambra” and “Made in Nigeria” as our default priorities.

We also share your belief in local government autonomy. For us, local government independence is central to our strategy to revive the rural economy and lift thousands out of poverty.

Your Excellency, once again, welcome to Anambra State. But do note: the Young Progressives Party is the only truly progressive party in the state that has the interest of the people at heart.

PoliticsSir Paul Chukwuma: The Humane Shepherd Anambra Needs by Isaacpositive(op): 7:19pm On May 02, 2025
SIR PAUL CHUKWUMA: THE HUMANE SHEPHERD ANAMBRA NEEDS

By Progressives Media

As Anambra State is now at crossroads, at a frightening moment in the State's history where politics and leadership is rested on the edge of a sword and unparalleled uncertainty, Sir Paul Chukwuma remains a rare breed, a composed leader whose humility, compassion, and calm strength set him apart in the murky waters of ruthless and riotous contest for power.

Long before he ever declared for office, Sir Paul Chukwuma; an ex-seminarian, founder of Olivia University Burundi, and Pro-Chancellor of Benue State University, had already etched his name in the hearts of many through quiet, unobtrusive and consistent acts of service; awarded full scholarships to hundreds of students, paid for WAEC and NECO exams fees for those who couldn’t afford it, and donated hundreds of millions of naira to secondary schools, seminaries, and tertiary institutions. And as the Good Book says in Proverbs 19:17, “Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will repay him for his deed.” Sir Paul Chukwuma has sown in kindness and now, the harvest of trust and goodwill is growing across Anambra, and in plenitude.

Overtime, Paul Chukwuma has shown that he’s a man with the heart for humanity, of which that readily comes to mind and full light was during a moment of deep sorrow of the unfortunate and untimely death of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah (Ebubechukwu uzo Nnewi), a fellow contender for the APC governorship ticket. While many would have seen it as an opportunity to gain ground, Chukwuma chose to suspend his campaign for one month and was the first to publicly mourn, and truly, throughout that moment, he comforted a grieving state, family and friends of the late big man. This was not politics. It was pure heart.

Yet his grace didn’t stop there. After investing his personal resources to furnish over 300 ward offices and a state party headquarters for his former political party, Paul Chukwuma was betrayed by a rigged primary election process. But instead of fighting fire with fire; venting vexatious spleen, in full swing clamour to bring down the roof top; a path many would have taken , but the Umueri-born scholar and philanthropist chose to prove that politics does not have to be a do-or-die affair. And the high road and broadminded decision he took had made him become the beautiful bride of Anambra politics, sought after by all sides and trusted by the people in alignment with relevant stakeholders.

Now compare these splendorous qualities with Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, who rode into office on the wings of hope and promise but has since shown that not all that glitters is gold.

In his inaugural speech in 2022, Soludo mounted the rostrum and boasted of running a government with a "human face," but the mask slipped quickly. Today, poor Ndi Anambra are groaning under the yoke of retrogressive taxation. Commercial drivers and Keke riders are forced to cough up over N20,000 monthly in levies, based on the laughable assumption that they earn over N15,000 daily; classic case of “robbing Peter to pay Paul” — only in this case, Peter is already starving.

It has become crystal clear that where Paul Chukwuma builds bridges, Soludo burns them. Where Paul Chukwuma uplifts institutions, Soludo subjugates them to over taxation. Where Paul listens, Soludo churns unrealistic rhetoric. Governance under Soludo has become more about control than compassion, more about optics than outcomes.

Anambra cannot afford another four years of bitter pills and empty platitudes. We need a humanitarian and compassionate leader, not a taskmaster like Soludo and his aka odo wielding gangs who go about hacking people down in the streets of Awka, Onitsha and Nnewi.

Paul Chukwuma, like David in the Good Book of Books, will lead with a heart after God, and so “when the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn” (Proverbs 29:2).

Ndi Anambra, Sir Paul Chukwuma; scholar, lawyer, Pro-Chancellor, humanitarian, a man of strategy and foresight, represents a return to moral clarity, to servant leadership, and to politics without bitterness. He is not driven by ego, but by empathy. Not by ambition alone, but by a vision anchored in faith, fairness, and a deep love for his people.

Now is the time for Anambra to turn the page and begin a new chapter with a leader who puts humanity first; Paul Chukwuma is not just ready to lead, he is ready to serve.

PoliticsAnambra Gubernatorial Election: Is Soludo Afraid Of Sir Paul Chukwuma by Isaacpositive(op): 11:15am On Apr 01, 2025
Anambra Gubernatorial Election: Is Soludo Afraid of Paul Chukwuma!

By Progressives Media

Paul Chukwuma's emergence as a leading aspirant to clinch the APC gubernatorial ticket ahead of the 2025 Anambra gubernatorial election has continued to send shockwaves into the Anambra State Government House, as his likely emergence has shattered all possible political calculations developed by the governor and his political strategists.

Soludo's initial calculations were predicated on the APC producing a candidate from Anambra South, which, from previous experience, would have been an easy walk-over for Governor Soludo, whose larger-than-life image dominates the political scene of Anambra South. The governor, understanding his influence on the zone and the ease with which he would use the zoning arguments to diminish any other aspirant from Anambra South, did all he could to ensure that the APC produced an aspirant from Anambra South.

Paul Chukwuma's emergence and strong showing have shattered that permutation, thus driving the government into a frenzy in the last few weeks. The governor, who is reputed for being arrogant—never pandering to stakeholders in the state—last week began a desperate move of meeting members of the clergy across the state and staging a well-orchestrated show of students presenting him with funds to purchase his gubernatorial ticket. That aside, he has begun the frenzy of inviting opposition figures to inspect his projects and give good reviews in front of TV cameras. As Paul Chukwuma grows in strength, the once-invincible Soludo shivers.

Soludo's fear of Paul Chukwuma didn't begin today. When Paul Chukwuma began installing APC's billboards with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope agenda across communities in 2023, it was Gov. Soludo who ordered that they be pulled down, despite all necessary advertising fees being paid to ANSAA, the Anambra State government agency. At that time, Paul Chukwuma had not declared his intention to run for governor. However, Soludo was wiser and was ready to play the long game.

Paul Chukwuma has become Soludo's biggest critic in the state, appearing consistently on national TV to puncture holes in Soludo's three years of arrogant governance that has left public schools dilapidated, public hospitals in a hopeless state, agriculture abandoned, social housing non-existent, insecurity lingering across the land and a brutal tax enforcement/extortion regime becoming the everyday reality of vulnerable Anambrarians.

Soludo's fear of Paul Chukwuma is not far-fetched. Like Soludo, Chukwuma is a first-class graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, from the Department of Philosophy before fully transitioning to Law, graduating with a first-class from Baze University, and topping it up with a distinction in LL.M from the University of Derby in Intellectual Property and Information Law.

Soludo knows that if there's one man he cannot intimidate with intellectual sagacity and oratory prowess, it is Paul Chukwuma.
