Somewhere in a Nigerian University, a Lecturer is still teaching with his 1980s note as resource material. Some of the examples he/she uses still has inches and feet. The change in measuring system, the new SI unit, the advancement in technology is not his/her boarder.

Somewhere in Nigeria, a University is still graduating Computer Science Students with no knowledge of Python, R, C++ or MATLAB. Visual Basic, COBOL, FORTRAN are still the only programming languages taught. No change to what is in vogue. No following of new Technologies. Just the normal languages of the early 90s.

Somewhere in our Exams and Records Unit, the CGPA computing officers are still using market Calculators to compute CGPA. They are still storing up documents in hard copy files. The Computer in that office is not for result computation. No, the Officer doesn't even know how to open Ms Excel. Offer to teach them basic computing with Excel or design a template, they look at you as though you are speaking Latin.

The email on the university portal is for fancy. Nobody respond to the mails forwarded there. Infact the Officer in charge of responding to the mails doesn't even know how to open the mailbox of the institution portal.

Somewhere in some of our Universities, some Academics know nothing about what is in vogue in their fields of study. They do not even care to find out new knowledge. This AI boom is still no news on their stereo. They are on a no reverse speedboat to never take in anything new to your head.

Questionnaires designed on Google form or Microsoft forms are rejected by Graduate School supervisors. You must print it on A4 paper, photocopy 1000 copies and share manually to responders.

Or when last did you see a University Vacancy Application with an online portal to apply? You must submit 10 hard copies of your credentials to the Registrar.

Canva slide presentation is rejected. It must be done on PowerPoint.

Zoom Thesis defence is not possible. You must be present with 20 copies of your Thesis.

Assignment cannot be submitted via mail. You must write it out and submit to the Lecturer in person.

Payment cannot be automated. You must queue at designated Banks, manually fill the Teller, not the modern Teller oh. That one that has 3 copies. Take the yellow copy to the Bursary. Change to receipt, photocopy 5 copies and share around. Don't even try paying by transfer, that money don go.

At this level, can we conclude Nigeria Universities are adverse to Technological advancement? If yes, then we are in some very serious issues in our hands.

A week ago, the Commissioner for Information stated on Rave FM that the teachers' recruitment process would be concluded next week. He said, "nigba ti yio ba fi di osu keji," meaning, "before February." Now we are in February and applicants are still waiting.

It's clear that the government has consistently failed to meet its own deadlines. From the initial application process in February 2024 to the aptitude test in March and the delayedp shortlisting in August, each stage has been marked by broken promises.

The promise that successful candidates would start work by October 2024 has also not been kept, leaving thousands of applicants in uncertainty after paying ₦2,150 each. The delays raise serious questions about the transparency and efficiency of the Adeleke administration's handling of the recruitment.

It appears that the latest promise is yet another instance of the government making commitments without a concrete plan for execution. Governor Adeleke should have outsourced the recruitment process to a consultant, as his counterpart in Oyo did. The older officials in the civil service lack the mental agility to efficiently handle the recruitment of thousands of people within a reasonable timeframe. Relying on outdated methods to solve problems in a digital age is simply a waste of time.

I dated a married woman once, and we were caught. I was in school, and she was selling on campus. I noticed her interest in me anytime I went to buy from her. On the issue of SUBEB teachers recruitment, Honourable Ibukun the chairman of SUBEB said on a radio program on Sunday that SUBEB will augment with Imole Youth Corps for pupils in primary school.

I want to humbly advise you sir that there is no need to recruit fresh Imole Youth Corps for teaching in primary school. Your government can easily have an agreement with prospective teachers in the soon to be concluded recruitment process that applied to teach in primary school through SUBEB to be put under Imole Youth Corps for 4 years when the contracted retired teachers will be out of service and there will be enough vacancies for them to come in as confirmed teachers under SUBEB. I believe many of them will be interested in this arrangement than to start rushing to register for Imole Youth Corps at this late period.

We understand that Local Government Councils are responsible for the salaries of primary school teachers and with the best minimum wage our able governor had implemented, some LGAs may not be able to pay salaries if all of the prospective primary school teachers were put under SUBEB. They can be under Imole Youth Corps program for 4 years when there will be a lot of vacancies in primary school.

I want to believe that TESCOM who is in charge of the affairs of Senior Secondary School teachers and Ministry of Education that is in charge of the affairs of Education Officers will go ahead with their plans to fill the vacancies in Senior Secondary Schools, Technical Schools, Unity Schools, Local Inspectorate Education, Zonal Inspectorate Education, State Inspectorate Education and Ministry of Education as Imole Youth Corps can't be used in this very sensitive section of Osun State Education System.

I want to humbly plead your attention to the recruitment of teachers in Osun State that have been shown to be very transparent from the test to shortlisting to interview to follow through to the end this January to receive your glory in full.

From the 1st day of the interview that was held in September last year people have been saying this type of your teacher's recruitment once happened in the 80s where children of nobody were able to secure state jobs without knowing anyone but purely on merit.
