Politics / Economic Recession, Where Is Operation Feed The Nation?- Adams Kayode. by itzsirkay(m): 11:04am On Sep 23, 2016
Nigeria, the said giant of Africa and a country with largest economy in Africa as of 2014 now experiencing economic recession with inflation rising up to 17.6% in less than two years after she claimed the best economy in Africa.

This has raised the question of 'why is Nigeria experiencing economic recession in less than two years she claimed best economy in Africa'?. However several answer have arised from various quarters;

The economic recession Nigeria is experiencing is as a result of mismanagement by public officials through corrupt practices by the PDP led federal government- APC.

The economic recession Nigeria find herself is as a result of incompetency of APC led federal government and lack of good economic policy- PDP.

The economic recession Nigeria find herself is due to incompetency of Buhari's economic team (Mrs. Kemi Adeosun-minister of finance, Sen. Udo Udoma-minister of budget and national planning and Godwin Emefiele-Gov. Of central bank of Nigeria) and I therefore call for their replacement- Sen. Dino Malaye.

However as a concerned Nigerian watching from afar, I will say;
Nigeria is in economic recession because of the monopolistic economy its been running since the boom of oil in the NIGER-DELTA region and lack of plans for the evil days like this- Adams Kayode.

Now that we have seen several reasons why we are in recession, we need to find a way out, then the question comes to my mind;

WHERE IS OPERATION FEED THE NATION?.

Operation feed the nation is an agricultural empowerment program founded in 1978 by the then Military head of state General Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo aimed to provide food security on food production in Nigeria.As at then Fifty thousand day old chicks and over 17,000 tonnes of premix were imported in an attempt to increase poultry production under OFN. During the Green Revolution importation of maize continued and poultry production improved substantially. However plans to increase rabbit production during OFN and Green Revolution did not materialise. During the OFN and the Green Revolution cannoes, fishing boats, and gears were made available to fishermen at 50% subsidy.

The Directorate for Food, Road and Rural Infrastructure, on the other hand, has allocated N10 million for the development of cattle, poultry, piggery, rabbitry, sheep, goats, etc., and also plans to produce 50 million fingering and about 180,000 tonnes of fish feed. Also Directorate for Food, Road and Rural Infrastructure instituted various panels to provide basis for implementing this programmes.

Now the Question comes again, where are all these achievements, the day old chicks, the poultry,the fishery etc. And the answer to these questions are not far fetched,the OFN program failed due to poor organisational and operational structure.

Otunba Bamidele Dada, the then Minister of state for agricultural and rural development, claimed this program failed because of lack of sustenance of agricultural policies, inadequate provision of fertilizer to farmers and overcentralization of implementation policies.

GEJ In 2014, during the launching of his own empowerment program, NATIONAL SCHOOL AGRICULTURAL PROGRAM, claimed OFN failed because the program were not properly articulated and that the program just followed political class and disappear into thin air.

Nevertheless, speculation from several quarters claimed that OFN did not fail but transformed to what is now OBASANJO'S FARM in Sango Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria.Though we don't know how true is this claim only God, the Almighty knows.

As a concerned Nigerian, I want to use this medium to advice our executive arm of government to have a good organisational and operational structure for such program and the legislative arm to make laws to ensure proper implementation of such empowerment program to prevent it from premature death for continuity sake and to achieve it designed aims and objectives as evident from the success recorded by lagos state, whom good organisational and operational structure has been her mitochondria.

Education / Oil Price Saga, Fupre Graduate's More Petroleum Engineers!!!!(see photos) by itzsirkay(m): 10:00am On Sep 22, 2016
The federal university of petroleum resources is a recognized university in the world not only because its the first petroleum university in Africa and sixth in the world but due to her remarkable performance in the world oil and gas contest as she emerges African champion for three consecutive years(2014 , 2015 , 2016) in PETROBOWL competition and represented Africa in Netherlands, Houstin Texas and Dubai respectively. Also FUPRE is not just petroleum champion she also emerges African champion as she claimed two awards in the SHELL ECO-MARATHON contest held in South Africa.

Inspite of these achievements, no of aspirants keep increasing every year as petroleum engineering applicants takes the lead as 1860 (37.2%) of the total of 5004 applicants of which about 150 (8.1%) applicant might possibly be admitted based on the university capacity leaving about 1710 (91.9%) applicants regretting had I known.

Most Nigeria Parents wants their children to study engineering particularly petroleum enginnering not because of any other reason, 'OIL MONEY' also called 'PURE BLOOD MONEY' forgetting that the days of oil moneys seems to be going into extinction.

However, I want to use this medium to advice most Nigerian parents/Guardians and students who are bent on making earns means from oil money that oil jobs are not as promising as it use to be around 2014 when crude oil price is around $110/barrel as against what it is now about $38/barrel which forces most oil company to retrench its workers, also many oil and gas investors are now cutting down their Investment due to oil price saga.

Also, the current economic recession saga that Nigeria find herself is also due to the fall in crude oil price globally relative to our overdependence on oil money.

Inspite of these reasons, parents be WARNED, advice and persuade your children to choose a career out of petroleum engineering.

However, I will not forget to congratulate the 2015/2016 graduates of petroleum and natural gas engineering department of FUPRE as God has seen them through studying 84 COURSES in 10 SEMESTERS for 5 BRUTAL YEARS in FUPRE as they claimed .I pray that God will bring back the good days of oil money so that you guyz will be happy to have been a petroleum engineer.

I remain Kayode Adams, KASALI. , a concerned student of petroleum and natural gas engineering department, federal university of petroleum resources, effurun, Delta state, Nigeria

Politics / Shocking!!!, Buhari's Pilot Is An Igbo Man(photos) by itzsirkay(m): 7:23pm On Sep 21, 2016
Captain Chinyelu Chizoba Ndibuisi is a presidential pilot and he flies the Nigerian Air Force 001 plane.

He has once worked as an Air Peace pilot. The presidential pilot loves relaxing and easing tension by playing his favourite game, tennis. He is currently in the United States with his boss, President Muhammadu Buhari, who is participating in the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

With a lot of insinuations that President Buhari is a tribalist and only gives preferential treatment to people of the North, this is just to show that he knows what he is doing and he is not a tribalist. He knows the best person for the job and he goes for the person.
Well, some our readers are of different opinions. One Denedo Victor wrote: ”Hatred and self-centered people would put this poor man into trouble, for once let us allow this President be, we should know that it is not our making that he is the president today, it is God and it is God that can determine one’s life.”

De Cardinal Charles wrote: ”If an Igbo President uses Hausa man as pilot, that plane will crash in just a few days simply bcz those guys ar suicide terrorists by nature. But in this case, PMB knows that Igbos value human life so much. He can’t get a more trusted pilot outside Igbo Even though he hates the Igbos with eternal hatred.”

Uche Kingsley also wrote: ”Not that he likes him or wanted an igbo man but because he is the best, he knew that all the northerners get unmerited jobs because of ethnicity and favoritism, he is afraid of death that’s why he didn’t compromised professionalism, if it’s on other things i bet you igbo man will be the last person he wants to see talk more employ.”

Ezekiel Iniobong wrote: ”One of the problems of this nation is that a lot of northerners get jobs that they are not qualified to handle. I am surprised that they didn’t give this pilot job to an Hausa guy. They know that the plane can only be flown by the best pilots around and so they didn’t mind where the pilot came from. If we adopt the same method in every sectors of our economy, i.e giving jobs to only qualified and capable people, things will change for the better in our nation.”

Politics / RE: ECONOMIC RECESSION, THE PRESENT IS THE KEY TO THE PAST!!!!! by itzsirkay(m): 5:14pm On Sep 21, 2016
RE: ECONOMIC RECESSION, THE PRESENT IS THE KEY TO THE PAST.

As a Geo-engineer, from knowledge gathered so far I stand to say that the economic recession saga in which Nigeria find herself is self inflicted since the advent of democratic system of governance, especially under the watch of one of our democratically elected president, president Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo in 1999. Nigeria is a country blessed with so many natural resources including, liquid and solid minerals, but we tend to focus on the oil money from only one region and neglecting other sources of revenue generation means hence the crisis in the NIGER DELTA. The economic recession we find our self in today was as result of mismanagement through corrupt practises by past public officials and lack of plan for the evil days like we are experiencing now. It is only barbaric and ethnic sentimental people that Will put the whole blame of the cause of economic recession on the present day government. However, am calling on the present day government whose integrity is her watch word that integrity alone cannot avert this recession we are into but other measure should be taken. Inspite of this, I will suggest the following solutions ;
1. Set TSA to work : I will commend the buhari led administration through the minister of finance Mrs Kemi Adeosun to have fast track the implementation of TSA as a mean of checking how money is accrued and spent by government agencies. However, I will advice the government to set the money gotten from TSA to work by pumping the money back to the economy through empowerment programs such as YOU-WIN etc.and such programs should be closely supervised.
2. Subsidize basic human needs: I will not totally support the motion of increment of minimum wages because the basic human need which are food, clothing and shelter are on the high side. What I will suggest to our government is that any government who want its citizen to enjoy the dividend of democracy will provide food, clothing and shelter at an affordable or subsidized rate.
3. Decentralize power system : Power as we know is a drive for industrialisation as its create room for investment opportunity amidst other factor like security, labour etc.I must tell you the bitter truth, federal government cannot power Nigeria. Therefore, for this reason FG should allow state to generate its own power and distribute to the state inorder to allow for infrastructural development through investment attraction and as such will create more job for Nigerians.
I remain, kayode Adams KASALI, a concerened student of federal university of petroleum resources, effurun, Delta state, Nigeria.
