Hello guys, I have been a silent reader in the travel section not only on this thread. You guys are doing a great job here kudos!
I got an invite for my cousin's wedding in May and I booked an appointment in June for today.I was at the US embassy in Lagos for my interview and am so grateful to God and you guys that I was granted the VISA.
I did not use an agent, have never traveled out of Nigeria before,my take home salary is just 100k and am single.
From my experience today, I think all you need at the US embassy is your confidence, the VO did not asked me for any document not even the wedding invitation.

My interview was for 8am thou I got there 5 mins after cos of the traffic.

Here is my transcript:


Me: With my charming smile I said Hello, good morning
VO: Good morning, please let me have your passport
Me: I gave it to him with my data page
VO: where are you going in the Us?
Me: .......in Georgia for my Cousin's wedding
VO: types on his system
VO: Please your finger prints
Me: I did that
VO: You are going for whose wedding?
Me: My cousin's
VO: Have you ever traveled out of the country?
Me: with a smile I said "No, its gonna be my first time"
VO: Where do you work?
Me: I work as ....... in ......company
note I earn 100k which I stated in my form but I didnt mention that to him, am sure he must have seen it on his system cos he kept on typing and looking at his system
VO: How long have you been working with this firm?
Me: one and half yrs
VO: How many weeks are you staying in the US
Me: 3 weeks
VO: Are you married?
Me: with a smile I told him am single but engaged (I had an engagement ring on my fourth finger)
VO: kept on typing and then said I have approved your visa, please pick up your passport on Monday.

I am so happy, thank you all.

@ivanko ur workin period is o.k 2 apply,mak sure d data u wil file on ds160 dose not contradict d previous 1,am surprise dat dere is agent in malaysia,may God safe us frm all dis fake agent dat was rampant evrywhere in d world,peace

Yaaaa but it was a real agent for student work and travel programs, the filling of DS160 form and other stuffs was included in the exchange visa package and I got d visa but twice.

Good day guys, please how many years of working experience is ok to use for B2 visa (visit), I have about 1yr and 8 month working experience, hope is ok...... I have previous working experience shaa, like four different jobs but mentioned only d last previous experience and also should I put my social security number in the space provided for social security number on the Ds160 since I'm applying for visitor visa this time..... I know my questions are not really difficult to know just want to be sure cus my last visa form was filled by an agent in Malaysia...

First of all if u are out of status like ur visa expires before u apply for change of status they will deny your application, so this one I'm seeing someone saying he will work illegally then apply, it won't work, secondly is better if you use schools that offers English program strictly, go online and search, I can't disclose d name of the school I used, or u just send me a message d school is in Virginia tho and all I did was legal and with good mind, no bad intention of staying.. Now I'm back to My papa land.

Is not really difficult to change from b1/b2 to f1 while in America, all u need to do is get a school that will give u i20 form, pay der fees and also ur SEVIS fees. the school will guide u through the process, talking from experience and it took only 3 weeks for me to get my change of status letter.

MY LAST VISIT TO THE U.S.A WAS ON AN EXCHANGE STUDENT VISA (J1), BUT MY STATUS WAS LATER CHANGED (PETITIONED) ON THE 12TH OF MARCH 2013 INTO A STUDENT VISA (F1) BY THE SCHOOL (INLINGUA) APPLIED FOR IN VIRGINIA IN OTHER TO IMPROVE MY LISTENING, WRITING AND READING SKILLS IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE. THE REASON FOR THIS IS TO START MY MASTERS DEGREE IN HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT AND ALSO CUT THE COST AND STRESS OF HAVING TO RETURN BACK TO MY COUNTRY OF CITIZENSHIP AND THEN STARTING THE PROCESS OF APPLYING FOR A STUDENT VISA ALL OVER AGAIN. THIS WAS ALSO AN URGENT AND REASONABLE SOLUTION AT THAT TIME IN ORDER TO AVOID BEING OUT OF STATUS BEFORE THE ACADEMIC YEAR FOR MASTERS BEGINS AND TO WRITE GMAT EXAM WHICH WAS A COMPULSORY REQUIREMENT FOR MASTERS APPLICATION IN THE UNIVERSITY I APPLIED TO THEN, UNFORTUNATELY, DUE TO MY MOTHER FALLING CRITICALLY ILL AND OTHER UNCALCULATED ADVERSE CIRCUMSTANCES, MY ATTENTION AND SUPPORT WAS HIGHLY NEEDED, I WAS PROMPTED TO HEAD BACK TO MY COUNTRY OF CITIZENSHIP.

Ok the last time I traveled to America was on J1 student exchanged visa (work and travel) I got the visa from Malaysia after my graduation ) but later changed it to F1 after 3monthsand it was successful but I left immediately afterward due to UNCALCULATED ADVERSE CIRCUMSTANCES, I WAS PROMPTED TO HEAD BACK TO Nigeria. I never stayed out of status (over stayed) I was just trying to save cost and d stress of coming back home and going Tru d crazy process again for masters..... Now the issue is I'm planning to go for vacation (b2visa) but I don't know what to fill in the ds160 form, the space that stated "EXPLAIN if u have ever filed for any form of PETITION' I don't know if what I did then was petition for change of status or just normal stuff, I don't understand please can someone help me out plzzz, should I just explain why I changed my visa category while in d states or I should avoid d question, but what if d VO brings it up... Chai i confuse die..... help ooooooooo

Hello everyone, I have visited America twice through Student exchange program while I was schooling in Malaysia, the last time I visited I changed my J1 visa to F1 visa which was successful, but something came up and I had to come back to nigeria now the issue is I want to go on vacation but I'm scared the CO might hold the change of status I did in my last trip against me, also in the online application form for visa, the place they put social security number, can I fill it cus I have a social security number already from my first trip. I'm just confused because I don't know what to expect when I go for my visa interview... ?
