Sorry guys! The use of the word 'usurp' in my first paragraph above was wrong because an election would hardly have been illegal. At least not in the manner I had hoped he'd win. Kindly substitute that word with 'unseat'.

I supported Buhari in 2003 when he ran with the late Okadigboh. In fact I nearly got lynched. My reason at the time was that he stood the most realistic chance of usurping the PDP (My primary aim was to see PDP go). Also he had a track record of 'having spine' and honesty and the fact that he had no Godfather/s. However, he lost.

In 2007, I was disappointed in his choice of running mate and so wasn't enthusiastic enough to give up my chidhood friend (street soccer) for long queues. Though, my soft spot for him did not wane. He lost again (sometimes I blame myself for this - lol).

This is 2011. I still don't like his choice of running mate and the day I heard that announcement, I lost steam - reasons for this are another kettle of fish. So When you ask me whether I'll vote for the man I think that based on an aggregation of all criteria - sentimental and objective - is the best man for the job, my answer for now is , I don't know. But one thing is for sure. Either I vote him, or I re-unite with joga bonito on that day.

And this is how we will be one of the 20 largest economies in the world in ten years time. Now tell me how this is different from zoning? What has a persons place of origin - and by origin it is meant ancestry which such a person may never have visited, not even birthplace or where basic education was received - got to do with whether or not he/she should go into a university to pursue a particular course of knowledge. Where in the process someone else more deserving is denied a position. I have alway said and will continue to say; "Until we are ready to drop all these 'Federal Character' indices, we are not going anywhere".

So many parts of this story highlight the incompetence of a lot of our administrators. In fairness to them, maybe I'm the one who doesn't understand the dynamics or there's a bigger picture that I'm not seeing. But I fail to understand why a Polythecnic should offer an Art course in the first place. But here we are talking about ratios. Then a Professor comes along presumably after a 'technical committe meeting' with - permit to guess - fellow professors and in the midst of this impending crises, is telling me how important transparency is and how in order to achieve it, things must be done quickly and systematically. What does that mean?

I'm almost tired.

Truth is that any woman that can actually get to hit me, as in hit the target, probably deserves to go away unscathed. That'll be her prize.

This just goes to show how myopic and petty some of us Nigerians can be. So what if Ghana taxes Nigerians? Their industry is still growing and they are not doing themselves any good. Our movie industry, compared to most others in West Africa has grown to such an extent that our pride should be that we have international talent coming to Nigeria to earn money and pay tax to the Nigerian Government Coffers. Let's keep our focus on the big picture. It'll bring the spotlight on us.

Why do you think the Indian industry is way way way behind the Americans' in terms of international relevance despite the magnitude of output? It's because everything is just so Indian. Is that the road we wanna go down? I don't think so.

The girl as well as many others like her is a mad cow who under normal circumstances shouldn't be in university. The lecturer is just another shameful animal contributing to the woes of the human race. I feel for his relatives.

I think the fact that you brought the topic here on this Forum suggests that even you do not believe it to be right/sane. You probably need some form of justification to satisfy your ego. Truth is that you actually may get it, but definitely not from me.

First of All, Marriage is not a contract. It is a covenant. I think we need to study both definitions. Secondly, It is a source of God's grace. So whether it is old-fashioned or not has no bearing on anything. It is like asking whether praying is old fashioned. It actually is. So what? I won't stop praying because of that. I think as a people, we should lose our fear of being called old fashioned.
