Panic In Offa, Kwara, As Midnight Explosions Destroy Buildings After Trump Announces US Airstrikes On ISIS In Nigeria
Residents of Offa, Kwara State, were thrown into panic late Thursday night after loud explosions rocked parts of the town, destroying residential buildings.
This comes shortly after United States President Donald Trump announced U.S. airstrikes targeting ISIS positions in parts of Nigeria.
However, it remains unclear whether the military action in Offa was part of the US airstrikes or carried out solely by the Nigerian military.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing debris raining down from the sky, suggesting the explosion may have been caused by a drone-delivered bomb.
In a video exclusively obtained by SaharaReporters, a large fragment believed to be part of a drone bomb is seen lying on the ground shortly after the explosion.
SaharaReporters gathered that at least five houses and several shops were destroyed, with debris scattered across the affected areas.
The video footage shows damaged buildings and distressed residents calling on the Kwara State Government to urgently intervene.
Some residents questioned why Offa, a largely peaceful town, would be affected by such an incident.
“Why would they launch a bomb here?” one visibly shaken resident asked. Another added, “We saw the drone remnants after it destroyed a house.”
A member of the local vigilante group who visited the scene confirmed the explosion, stating that it occurred around midnight.
“I got there after 12 a.m. I called the Balogun (war chief), and he came immediately. We went to the hotel where one of the explosions occurred, but I won’t mention the hotel’s name. The hotel was damaged. Another explosion happened around the prayer ground near Ijagbo in Offa,” he said.
According to him, several houses, storey buildings, and other structures were damaged. “We thank God that no lives were lost,” he added.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the incident, and it remains unclear whether Offa was an unintended target of the reported U.S. strikes or if the explosion was linked to another cause.

Just musing this morning. I thought to myself, the tax new bills to be introduced by Tinubu and FIRS may just be like NURTW ticket money. The new bill empowered FIRS or what is their new name to enforce collections, same way NURTW touts break mirrors, windscreens, remove seat, wipers or tyres of anyone who don't comply. Also just like Alphabeta, the sharing formulary may be coded. NURTW money goes beyond those on the stree, Obas, bales, LASTMA, Police, government officers and so on get their own shares. The new tax bills will send many to poverty Wells, because enforcement will be funny, just like Lagos demolished properties with C of Os at Iyana Oworo and Mile 2, brace up.

This Year is the worst year of my life. I don't pray to remember 2025 again as long as I live.
You will survive just keep calm, God will show up. In my own wisdom, do everything to reject anything called APC. They have made life tougher for everyone with their wrong policies.
Millions of Naira, lost, the fire can't be put out. No water, emergency response slow. Those that built Lagos, surrounded by water can't provide water. May insurance cover all the losses and ki Olorun fi ofo ra emi.
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Thursday urged Nigerians to reject any tax law that “was distorted or falsified.”
President of the NLC, Joe Ajaero, in his 2025 Christmas message, stated that distortions and alleged forgery associated with certain tax policies undermine credibility and public trust.
Ajaero said, “Together, in this season and beyond, we must insist on Tax Justice where the rich pay their fair share and all forms of regressive taxation are removed.
“Any tax system that is mired in apparent distortion and outright forgery is unacceptable and should therefore be rejected by all.
“It is better to patiently craft a law that is broadly crafted and owned than rush into one filled with serious errors and outright political manipulations,” the NLC President said.
He also urged Nigerians to remain united in demanding equitable governance and reiterated its commitment to mobilising workers to resist policies that worsen economic hardship.
Reps panel to conclude investigation soon Meanwhile, the House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating alleged discrepancies in the gazetted Tax Reform Acts has resolved to conclude its assignment and submit its report to the House within the shortest possible time.
The committee, chaired by Muktar Aliyu Betara (Borno, APC), met for the first time on Tuesday, December 23, to deliberate on a Privilege Matter raised by a member of the house at plenary over inconsistencies between the laws passed by the National Assembly and the gazetted versions.
During the meeting, members resolved to conclude the investigation and report back to the house within the shortest time for legislative integrity, due process and public confidence in the lawmaking process.
