The Religion of All Messengers is Islam

The Example of the Prophets and Their Teachings

Allah recounts the instructions of earlier prophets Ibrahim (Abraham) and Yaqub (Jacob) to their children, affirming that the religion they followed was Islam:
Surah Al-Baqarah 2:130-132
"And who would be averse to the religion of Abraham except one who makes a fool of himself? And We had chosen him in this world, and indeed he, in the Hereafter, will be among the righteous.
When his Lord said to him, 'Submit,' he said, 'I have submitted [in Islam] to the Lord of the worlds.'
"And Abraham instructed his sons [to do the same] and [so did] Jacob, [saying], 'O my sons, indeed Allah has chosen for you this religion, so do not die except while you are Muslims.”

Surah Aal-Imran 3:67
"Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Christian, but he was one inclining toward truth, a Muslim [submitting to Allah]. And he was not of the polytheists."

Prophet Yusuf (Joseph) also affirmed this submission:
Surah Yusuf (12:101)
"My Lord, You have given me [something] of sovereignty and taught me of the interpretation of dreams. Creator of the heavens and earth, You are my protector in this world and in the Hereafter. Cause me to die a Muslim and join me with the righteous."

Allah’s Prophet Sulaiman (Solomon) said:
Surah An-Naml (27:38)
"He said, 'O chiefs! Which of you will bring me her throne before they come to me in submission?'"

The Queen of Sheba (Balqees) recognized the truth of submission to Allah:
Surah An-Naml 27:44
"She said, 'O eminent ones, indeed, to me has been delivered a noble letter.
Indeed, it is from Solomon, and indeed, it reads:
"In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful,
Be not haughty with me but come to me in submission [as Muslims]."

The Consistency of the Message
Prophet Musa (Moses) called his people to Islam:
Surah Yunus 10:84
“And Moses said, "O my people, if you have believed in Allah , then rely upon Him, if you should be Muslims."

Even the magicians of Pharaoh acknowledged Allah’s power:
Surah Al-A’raf 7:126
“And you do not resent us except because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Our Lord, pour upon us patience and let us die as Muslims [in submission to You].”

Pharaoh, the enemy of Allah, acknowledged the truth before his end:
Surah Yunus 10:90
“And We took the Children of Israel across the sea, and Pharaoh and his soldiers pursued them in tyranny and enmity until, when drowning overtook him, he said, "I believe that there is no deity except that in whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am of the Muslims..”

Allah confirms the unity of the religion of all prophets:
Surah Al-Ma’idah 5:44
“Indeed, We sent down the Torah, in which was guidance and light. The prophets who submitted [to Allah] judged by it....

Allah commands the People of the Book to believe in the same religion:
Surah Al-Baqarah 2:136
“Say, ‘We have believed in Allah and what has been revealed to us and what has been revealed to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Descendants and what was given to Moses and Jesus and what was given to the prophets from their Lord.’”

Islam as the Pure Religion of Tawhid
The religion of all prophets is one and the same in its essence: Tawhid—affirming the oneness of Allah and submitting to Him alone. While laws and rituals may differ according to time and place, the core message remains unchanged.

Surah Al-Baqarah 2:132
“This was the legacy that Abraham left to his sons, and so did Jacob; ‘O my sons, indeed Allah has chosen for you this religion, so do not die except while you are Muslims.’”

On the Phrase “The Three Heavenly Religions”
The phrase “the three heavenly religions” (Judaism, Christianity, Islam) is a common but incorrect expression in Islamic theology. It implies that there are multiple valid religions, which contradicts the Qur’anic teaching that Islam is the only true religion.

The names “Judaism” and “Christianity” were given by followers and unknown people after the prophets passed away, not by Allah.

Allah says about those who say “We are Christians”:
Surah Al-Ma’idah 5:14
“And from those who say, ‘We are Christians,’ We took their covenant.”

And about those who say “We are Christians”:Surah Al-Ma’idah 5:82

This shows that while there were followers of earlier prophets, the pure religion remains Islam, the religion of submission to Allah alone.

Islam teaches that the religion of all the messengers is one: the pure religion of Tawhid and submission to Allah. Differences in laws and rituals do not negate this fundamental unity. The Qur’an and the teachings of the prophets affirm that Islam is the original and final religion sent by Allah for all humanity.

May Allah guide us to understand and uphold the pure religion of Islam, the religion of all His messengers. Ameen.

The issue is not the removal of fuel subsidy per se... it is a combination of issues... I will highlight just three...

First off, the reasons why fuel subsidy became supposedly unsustainable in the first place have remained... corruption, greed, incompetence, inefficient systems, multiple taxes, extortion, government manipulation/mismanagement, smuggling etc... they still exist, it is just that there is less noise about it. Those who made it seem subsidy was bad, are still the the ones running the show and making even more money.

Second, floating the naira so quickly after subsidy removal and without proper planning or calculation of the possible negative consequences was disastrous. The masses were still trying to adjust to the sharp rise in pms when the naira was floated. Again, failure to address the inefficiencies in the exchange rate is a problem. The game has changed, but the players remain the same.

Third, there is a gap between policy implementation and expected outcomes for the masses. The mistake bat keeps making is that he thinks removal of pms subsidy is an end in itself... it is not. It is simply a means to an end, and if the end result is not being achieved after 3 long years, then maybe the process needs to be reviewed. Policies must take cognisance of the peculiarities of the socio-economic conditions of the country. You cannot expect Nigerians to pay international rates for pms when the government itself does not pay its workers commensurate international wages.

There must be a balance... and if the government feels so strongly that the citizens must endure hardship today for a better tomorrow, then the political office holders must carry a huge portion of that suffering and inconvenience. Cut political office holders transportation and feeding cost by at least 85% to start with.

Convoys? Not more than 3 cars for governors. Ministers and others just 1 car. President? Reduce the convoy by 60%. Son and wife of the president? A two car convoy...

When the political office holders feel the pinch of the reforms, that is when citizens can bare with them.

Comparing first terms of different administrations is unfair and is akin to comparing oranges and apples. The economic conditions vary widely. Tinubu compared to Buhari's early years has far more money compared. Check the price of crude oil from 2015 - 18 and compare to 2023-26. During that period many governors were struggling with salaries until the FG bailed them out. It was in later years that economy got some relative stability that salary payments became a thing of the past. Compare to the current set of governors who receive at least 250 billion Naira annually apart from the LG funds they also hijack. Unfortunately, only a few of them are remarkably different from their predecessors

What should be compared is cumulative achievements.

This is the beauty of democracy: individuals who know absolutely nothing will always have an opinion. By pointing fingers at the government, they think they have absolved themselves of responsibility for the problems they helped create.

The removal of the fuel subsidy and the unification of the exchange rate were mandatory reforms; without them, the country’s economy would have completely collapsed. Look at the gains we are beginning to see.

People shouting that Nigeria is inherently rich know nothing about macroeconomics and public finance. Even the currency devaluation they complain about has a purpose: it positions the country as a competitive environment for exports. However, many prefer to complain rather than figure out how to produce goods or services of value, earn foreign exchange, and build a better life.

It is exhausting to witness.Ultimately, dealing with uninformed opinions is just a cost that comes with leadership; patience is required on the job. If these critics know so much about running a complex national economy, they should start by successfully managing their own households. It is far too easy to blame President Tinubu for personal failures—proving that many went through school, but school never passed through them. While Bola Ahmed Tinubu (BAT) might not be perfect, he deserves recognition for taking these bold steps. None of the other major contenders from the election come close to his courage.

The opposition will keep trying, but until they become honest with themselves, they remain nothing but a joke.

Former Kaduna Central senator, Shehu Sani, has said the promise by the African Democratic Congress, ADC, candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to restore fuel subsidy is a “political Trojan horse” aimed at winning the 2027 presidential election.

Recounting that Atiku had supported the removal of fuel subsidy in the past, Sani said the ADC presidential candidate’s pledge was impracticable.

Speaking with newsmen in Abuja, Sani insisted that Atiku’s pledge is a way of deceiving Nigerians.

The former lawmaker noted that Atiku had, throughout his political history and campaigns, supported the removal of subsidy.

“As someone who has always subscribed to Bretton Woods Institutions neoliberal economic policies, someone who believes in World Bank and IMF prescriptions, devaluation of currency, privatisation of public enterprises and all sorts of capitalist bourgeoisie economic policies, and someone who has, throughout his political history and campaigns, stood for the removal of subsidy, for someone now to make a reversal simply because he needs votes, there is a need for Nigerians to seriously not take what he has said at face value,” Sani said.

He maintained that returning subsidy would be difficult because Nigeria spent trillions of naira subsidising petroleum products in the past.

“For a number of reasons, what he said is virtually impracticable,” he said.

“We have also seen how beneficiaries of subsidies use this mantra of subsidy to defraud our country. Many of them have cases in court where hundreds of billions of naira were looted and diverted from the national treasury in the name of importing petroleum products under the subsidy regime.

“I know very well that the removal of subsidy is causing a lot of hardship and economic suffering in the lives of our people, and it has been one policy that has created bad blood between ordinary Nigerians and this administration,” he said.

When IBB saw the insane level of wealth that Atiku had corruptly acquired as a customs officer, he refused to appoint him as the Comptroller General of Customs despite all entreaties from traditional rulers in the north. Thereafter, IBB advised him to retire from service.

OBJ is the second person Atiku worked under. We have all read his opinion about Atiku in his well publicized book. If the people Atiku have worked under all feel that he should never be allowed to become the president of Nigeria, then we must listened to them. Both of them can't be wrong. In addition, we all saw how Atiku converted almost all Federal companies to his personal properties when he was put in charge of the privatization process. Again, we can't forget his desire to sell NNPC and NLNG to his family members and friends. Such a dubious character must never be allowed anywhere near Aso Rock again.
