Can someone travel from Bulgaria to Austria with Nigerian passport and Bulgarian resident permit? Or the person needs to get a visa from Sofia?
You will be required to get a Schengen visa since Bulgaria is not yet a Schengen member. Only people exempted is if your spouse is an EU citizen and is accompanying you while travel then you don’t need a visa or if need be you get it for free with 3 days . Please note if you are legally living in Bulgaria travelling to any European countries is so easy even if you need a visa . Process is simple

Hey guys, sorry to hear you guys were denied visa. It’s really so bad after putting a lot effort with documentation and time. It was not like this 6 years ago. I got my student visa without even paying tuition fees and I only paid my school fees after arriving to the school in Bulgaria. I will also not blame the Bulgaria govt about the doubt they have towards Nigerians in Bulgaria because only little percentage of Nigerians come to study. Bulgaria is in European Union 🇪🇺 which gives anyone easy access to move around Europe with ease and soon they will be joining Schengen also. You can try different eastern EU countries. I have already relocated to another country with my family but Bulgaria is still part my home. Good luck guys and stay blessed

I want to ask a question please...

I have not collected my eligibility letter that's why i have not sent my application to Verna..

I want to collec eligibility letter, legalize before applying. Though my school only requested for eligibility letter now. After acceptance letter i can legalise and translate then scan and send.

My question is,

1) Can i apply by December 5th and still meet up and join February intake?

Can i finish the whole process in 2 months? From applying for admission and getting my visa? I really want to join by February 2023

My school says acceptance letter will be out after one week. You must have written online exam and did an interview.

2) How long does Bulgarian ministry of education take before approving the legalised documents sent to them?

3). Does visa D still take up to 45 days

4) Do i still do walk in visa application without booking appointment? I'm asking because your response on this, I'm quoting is from 2019.

5) You said you had 3million in your bank statement and still got visa... How much do you think will be OK now? Is 5 million in my name enough? I don't have a sponsor and I'm going for Bsc, not Masters.

Thanks and God bless you

Hope to join you soon
Hi guys, hope you all good. So they are just few changes but not so much
1. Can you apply 5th of Dec 2022 and still make it February not a guarantee because you are applying for a visa D and which can take up to 3 months.
2. During my time it took Bulgarian ministry of education 6 weeks to approve my admission
3. Yes visa D can take up to 45 days , it can take less but 45 days is the max to get a response from embassy
4. so yeah this is the change I was talking about. The last time I heard was that you need to book an appointment. Please check with the embassy to get the right update
5 due to the inflation all over the world I will say having above 5 million will be advisable. Within 5 to 7 million will be ok. Please keep in mind am not an expert, just my sincere opinion. Wish you good luck

Please I intend to further my education In sports law, please can I get list of schools in Sophia that I can enroll in. In addition to that, please must I legalise my documents (since I will apply from inside Bulgari) not outside. Thanks

Hi Cceemma I will suggest you ask you spouse to assist you since your spouse is already in Bulgaria. Your spouse should have a better first hand answers to your questions. Am sorry I rounded up my school few years ago. I will not be able to provide updated answers to yours questions. You can check past comments on the group it will guide you a bit

Thank you for your response, we will do as advised.

However, I understand the official 20 hours per week for students and the need to have adequate funds for the reunification visa. But I have not seen where it was stated that the spouse cannot work tho. If you can help me with any kind of link or document to further make my research I would be grateful.

I found the attached information on the official EU Immigration Portal on non-EU citizen living in Bulgaria which states:

Access to employment

If you have a permanent or long-term residence status and can prove sufficient financial resources, your family members will not need a work permit to access the labour market.

Family members who themselves have permanent or long-term residence status can also access the labour market without a work permit.

The following family members are immediately eligible for permanent residence:

spouse;
children of the third-country national and of his/her spouse, including the adopted children, who have not reached the age of 18 years and are not in matrimony;
children of the third-country national, including adopted children, who are under the age of 18 years and unmarried, in the cases where he/she is entitled to the parental rights and the children are on alimony provided by him/her;

I'm I reading this wrong?

You are not an EU citizen nor your wife has a permanent residency. What she has is a student permit. Don’t get it mixed up. Am sorry I have explained enough so you can decide what you want. At least your spouse should explain more better since she is in Bulgaria to give you first hand info. So sorry mate I don’t want to continue such topic again

Am sorry I have been busy this few weeks now. Look you have a student permit that gives you access to work for only 4 hours a day and 20 hours in a week officially. Even if you bring your spouse here that your spouse can not work. It means you have to provide proof you have sufficient funds to take care of your family within the period of your studying, Bulgaria is an EU and even though it can not be compared with the western EU countries, it’s still same standard procedure for migration.Neither You and your spouse are EU citizens . If you wish to migrate through study permit better Canada. Just for your information if you wish to live here in Bulgaria with full work permit through student visa, you will have to live in Bulgaria for 10 years as a student to qualify for a permanent resident.

@Elika , the answer to your question is No you can not switch from visa to work visa. You will have to go back to Nigeria and apply for work visa
Life in Bulgaria is good when you have document to residence. Please note living in Bulgaria without document is misery . It’s better not to come
You can’t do anything without document, like opening a bank account, getting a SIM card, getting house contract and no job without documents. Bulgaria is an EU country and not a country anyone can come and live. So get well organised before you decide to come to Bulgaria. Bulgaria immigration process is same system with all EU countries. Once you have a Bulgarian residency permit you have easy access to travel all EU countries

Good say Lyfeezone. Just to follow up on this line of question. Kindly see the attached screenshot.

What do you think?

There's a provision for non-EU to apply for family reunification as long as they have PR card that is valid for a year.

Please what type of family member are you. Spouse or kids below 18 to a PR resident.

@chamberlain if you are applying for masters it’s better you used your personal bank statement and in case it’s bachelor degree it’s advisable your parents to provide your bank statement

Thank you for the information.

Can you also please shield more light about spouse applying for visitors visa?

For instance, if I have been there for 8 months. What are the chances of my spouse and daughter being given a visitors visa?

Also, are there available options that will enable them to stay legally without having to come back?

@favoured sorry I didn’t respond to your question earlier. So first I will like to asked , is your spouse an EU citizen if yes all you need to do is apply for a spouse visa D which can take up to 90 days timeframe to get the visa. Once you arrive in Bulgaria then you can apply for a family member residency card that allows you to live and work in Bulgaria. In case where both of you are either not EU citizens I don’t it’s possible to come here and live. You can apply for a visitor visa and you will have to return back to Nigeria. To my honest advise is the chances of getting a visitor visa is 5% due to the covid restrictions
Travel / Re: STUDY IN BULGARIA by Iyfeezone: 10:37am On Jan 14, 2022
@lahat I believe all information from point of starting your application to visa final stage you will find on this trend. The procedure hasn’t changed. Our advise does not guarantee if your visa will be approved or not. Everything depends on God and the Bulgarian government to issue visa or not. You have to understand that even if you provide all documents it does not guarantee you visa . Please note for few years now they have been a lot of visa denial from Nigerian applicants

For study visa you don’t have any problems as long you mean the requirement but my advise is you do it yourself, no agent can submit documents on your behalf . The consular needs to see who is applying for study visa . Good luck

Ok @pass111, certified document is when you authenticate your school document in ministry of education and legalise it in ministry of foreign affairs and then take it to the Bulgarian embassy to legalise it. So yes you can make copies of your documents which can be authenticated by both ministries of education and legalise in foreign affairs but kindly note you have to present this originals when you go to both ministries.

@Iyfeezone , Is it a must I go to Abj myself or my agent can do that for me ? Because my agent told me that he will help me with the legalising of the documents then I can now go back there to thumbprint and do other necessary things.. How true Is this sir... Good evening

Hi , just a reminder Bulgaria is under EU and the visa process is same standard with all other European countries, please don’t me fooled by scammers . Nobody can submit documents for you or on your half and tell you all you need do it is come and do thumb print. Just hope you have not paid money to any agent. For you to have a job offer it means that it’s a critical skills you have and no Bulgarian citizens can do the job and the company here is willing to sponsor for work permit . I have been in Europe for years now and I can tell you that the chances of getting a job offer from Nigeria to Bulgaria is low . The only way you come here is by student visa or spouse visa. Any agent wey dey tell you say him get job offer for you my brother run oooh.

Thanks for your response Iyfeezone,

Sure, I'll definitely travel down to Abj for the legalisation, but considering the distance, I want to be sure I go with all the appropriate documents so I won't have to go back a second time.

So, I'm a bit confused by what certified copies of my documents mean. Because, the Bulgarian company said they needed certified copies of my diploma and grades, and not the original. They went further to state that the certified copies must be 'verified' by my school, MOFA, and the Bulgarian embassy, though they didn't mention the ministry of education.

And I have the original certificate issued by my school, I've also requested and gotten my transcript, albeit, a pdf copy.

The confusion now is; if I make cleared coloured copies of my credentials above, do they qualify as 'certified' copies which I will now take down to Abj for legalisation, or do I take the original copies to the ministries for legalisation, or is my school supposed to issue certified copies of my credentials to me(I sincerely hope not, as I'm very far from my school plus expenses) which I'll now take to the ministries?

Like what do they mean by 'certified copies'

Good day everyone,

I got a job offer from a company in Bulgaria, and I'm required to provide certified copies of my certificates and grades, the copies need to be stamped by the ministry of foreign affairs and the Bulgarian embassy in AbJ. The problem is I'm currently in Lagos and don't even how to go about the whole process. Has anyone here walked this path before? I need guidance and pointers, I'll really appreciate any input.

You have to make out time and travel to Abj, first you go to ministry of education to legalise your documents and then take it to foreign affairs to legalise it as well , once you are done take them it to Bulgarian embassy to legalise your Documents. You got a job so make out time to do the needful . Good luck
