Today's post is a little different, PLEASE READ IT! I received a long mail from an unknown elderly woman yesterday night and it was so touching. She requested I put it up here for everyone to read and learn from. Kindly read it below. Hello madam, I wake up in pain everyday and wish everyday and I pray the next time I open my eyes, I should find myself in the world beyond and not here on earth. I came across your different posts yesterday and felt I could share my secret with you and may be if I did, my story may help one or two parents who read your posts. I got married at the age of 24years to my husband who was a medical practitioner just like I was. We both focused on our career and of course were both successful in all we did but not in our parenting our own flesh and blood. We had two children, Kunle the first and Tola the second. Kunle was a very inquisitive boy and asked questions on everything. He even had a nick name "the examiner". His father and I got tired of his questions that we started locking up the door to our bedroom once we came back from work. How I wish I knew better, how I wish I read those posts of yours then. By the time Kunle was four years old, he was much more intelligent than his colleagues and he was so lively, you would never have a dull moment with him. He loved his sister so much and we were always proud of him. His father and I were so sure Kunle was also going to become a medical doctor just like we were. We loved our children so much and had plans to give then the best of everything although we were always busy and were not always at home because of the nature of our job. This made us hire a nanny and we also had one of my brothers in-law with us. On day, I came back from work very tired and my son ran into my room with me and asked, "why do you always close your door anytime you and daddy are in the room?" "Do you like kissing my daddy?" "why don't you kiss me too?" I got so upset with him that I beat him severely and reported him to his teacher the next day. We believed some of his friends were already exposed and may be watched bad movies at home. By the end of that term, we withdrew Kunle and Tola from the school. We did not allow him and his sister watch the television at home and also stopped them from visiting their friends and neighbours. We did all this to preserve our children's sanity but hardly did we know what was happening right under our roof. Some two years later, I got home unusually early to pick up a document. I noticed the door was not shut and everywhere was quiet. I sneaked in to give my children a playful surprise when I realised that their uncle and nanny were in the sitting alongside with my children watching pornography. I hate remembering that day. Not only were they watching pornography, but they were all naked, practicing what they were watching. I drove out the nanny and my brother in-law but the seed was already planted. When I was crying, my six year old son came to me and said, mummy why are you crying, uncle and aunty are only teaching us how to be good mummy and daddy. I was shocked as I never even knew that this had been going on for over two years and my children had be indoctrinated into this messy life style at their tender ages. We never realized the impact this had had on their lives until we caught both of them having sexual intercourse on uncountable occasions. Tola and Kunle did not only continue with this but became obsessed with each other. Their father and I kept this as our "little secret" as we were well known in our carrier. We tried correcting them in love with tears streaming down our faces whenever we caught them in the act. They promised us they were going to change. We had had done two abortions for our daughter, since we could not face the stigma of incest. On a fateful day, Tola walked up to her father and I and told us she was pregnant for Kunle again. Her father insisted on an abortion as usual but this time we lost our twenty year old daughter in the process. Kunle on learning Tola had died never spoke to neither his father nor I again. He eventually left home. Three months after he left home, we received a call from an hospital telling us our son was in a terrible state in their ICU. When we got there, Kunle was lying unconscious. He had poisoned himself. Finally, he got conscious and we were so happy, he looked at us as we sat by he bedside and told us how much he hated us for killing his sister. We pleaded with him and apologized. We got to the hospital the next day to see his corpse, he had suffocated himself by removing his oxygen mask. I am now 74 years old and a widow, my husband could not forgive himself and died of depression three years ago. I regret my years of ignorance everyday. I wish I could start afresh. I have never opened up my family "little secret" up till today. I don't know if my story can be of help to other parents, I am tired of carrying this burden without telling a soul. I am happy I finally surmounted the courage to open up to someone today. Oh, my life is a great mess. Kindly do me a favour of posting this on your Facebook page for parents to learn how expensive their actions today could be tomorrow. |
*Hon. PATRICK OBAHIAGBON's EASTER GREETINGS.* As we join Christians in the celebration of Easter, may we truly reflect on the quintessential modus vivendi of Master Jesus; The Christ, who peregrinated this incarnation as an exempli gratia of self abnegation, puritanical excrescence, spartan discipline, mental magnitude, hierophantic candour and altruistic effusions, qualities which have become a desiderata for national resurgimento. “Beyond the fugacious razzmatazz of the moment, I seriously call attention to the rutilanting and coruscating modus vivendi of Master Jesus the Christ and I dare pontificate that save and until we viscerally emblematize the virtues of self-immolation, quintessential abnegation, eulogizeable simplicity, Christ-like humility and immerse ourselves in a platonic emotionalism of agape love and communalistic service, we would have woefully failed in learning and imbibing the true meaning of EASTER. We must elevate this moment from a proscenium of joie de vivre into one of meditative transcendentalism”. HAPPY EASTER. |

They Missed Him
They were looking for a Lion,
He came as a Lamb,
and they missed Him.
They were looking for a Warrior,
He came as a Peacemaker,
and they missed Him.
They were looking for a King,
He came as a Servant,
and they missed Him.
They were looking for Liberation from Rome,
He submitted to the Roman cross,
and they missed Him.
They were looking for a fit to their mold,
He was the mold maker,
and they missed Him.
What are you looking for?
Lion?
Warrior?
King?
Liberator?
They were looking for their temporal needs to be
met,
He came to meet their eternal need,
and they missed Him.
He came as a Lamb to be sacrificed for your sin.
Will you miss Him?
He came to make peace between God and man.
Will you miss Him?
He came to model servanthood for all mankind.
Will you miss Him?
He came that we might have true Liberty.
Will you miss Him?
He came to give you eternal life.
Will you miss Him?
When we submit to the Lamb,
we will meet the Lion.
When we join with the Peacemaker
we will meet the Warrior.
When we work with the Servant
we will meet the King.
When we walk with the Submitted
we will meet the Liberator.
When we concern ourselves with the eternal
we will have the temporal.
If Jesus is not fitting into the mold you have, then
come to the mold maker and get His new one.
Submit to His plan for your life and you will see
your eternal need met first, then all the other things
you have need of will be taken care of as well.
"Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His
righteousness and all these things will be added
unto you." (Matthew 6:33) |
Corruption in FRSC is growing steadily. In Anambra,
Awka, Road Safety Corps officers mount at strategic
points early morning waiting for workers who are
going to work. For commercial motorists, no
problem so far as it is standard which means N500
according to one commercial driver friend. When
FRSC was established Nigerians thought it would
restore sanity. Even on Sundays the officers mount
at access roads leading to major churches. One
particular lady with children was accosted and
booked on her way to church while her little
children were crying in the car. I hear that there is
now revenue target for officers on duty at the
espense of road users. My son was told the other
day that his tires had expired. He was really
unaware that his new tokunbo car will be in trouble
so soon. What a country! |
I stand to be corrected, but I am firmly of the
opinion that the headquarters of gossiping and
backbiting among Nigerian women is the hair
salon.
There is no kind of story, true and untrue that
would not filter into your ears in a Nigerian beauty
spot.
Well, I've never been to a British hair salon because
Bekee has no idea what to do with my kinky hair
that is as coarse as a metal sponge, so I cannot tell
if the gossip intensity there is as high as it is,
where I come from.
I am only saying what I know and am familiar with.
There are two painfully annoying things about salon
gossips, however.
One is that as long as you step into the salon or
hair-braiding spot, you are one of them.
I mean, you are automatically assumed to be
gossip-hungry and willing to listen to whatever
story they have of whoever it pleases them to
butcher on that day.
While fingers work on your hair, you are prompted
from time to time, to look left, right, up and down;
to get better views of their victims for the day. No
consideration whatsoever is given to the scorpion-
like stings that are eating up your scalp as the
twisting and turning of your hair shafts happen.
They seek your opinion in the process.
"Imagine. Her husband is living in Kafanchan while
she lives at Itumbuzo. How can they be faithful to
each other? Philomena, i na-anukwa?"
You are somewhat confused.
First off, this story is none of your business.
Second, your scalp is on fire.
Third, you are born again and shouldn't be talking
negatively about people.
But, you want to be polite to these women. So, you
try a "God will help them."; but that sounds very
distant and a tad too spiritual.
Ooo church!! Are you now trying to show them that
you are the only holy person there?
Biko, Adaku here is the treasurer of the Daughters
of Zion Ministry in her parish.
Bisi that is doing washing and setting is the head
ursheress in her province.
Priscilla that is rolling wool is the choir mistress in
her branch. It's not only you that is going to
heaven, please!
You swallow the subtle shade and ask the Holy
Spirit for help. "Daddy, let me leave here with my
anointing intact, please!"
The second annoying something is the humongous
hypocrisy that accompanies such dirty tales. Let
the person they are busy tearing apart venture into
the salon to enquire about her hair and see signs
and wonders before your eyes!
"Hey!! Babes how far? You are looking so so take-
away! Na you dey reign o!!" accompanied with hugs
and high-fives.
Once more, you are not understanding. Is this not
the person they just tore into shreds minutes ago?
You mean, the one they said no longer sees her
period but is looking for who to marry her. The one
they said has HIV. The one they said..
Wait o. The lady has joined the throng.
Now they are discussing Chinyere, who just left
with her Ghana braids sitting beautifully on her
head.
She is dating a married man o.
Haa!!
And the man's wife is not taking things lying low.
The new lady is now the chief gossip.
Your emotions move from shock to powerlessness.
Do you pity her, having heard all that was said
about her, just moments ago?
Or do you go bleh.. Wetin consign me?
Wheeeew!
Glory to God, your hair is done. You stand up,
admire yourself in the large horizontal mirror and
pay the hair-braider.
"Sister sister! I maka! You are so beautiful!"
You manage a smile, while shaking your head
vigorously in your mind.
Who knows what they will say about you when you
leave?
Tonight's devotion will need double praying time.
To wash away all the slanderous poto-poto that
was splashed on you. Lord have mercy!
Are you a gossip?
Oya, come and kneel down here let me lay hands on
you.
You need to be free.
For your sake. For eternity's sake. For the sake of
others.
Amen.
"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your
mouths, but only what is helpful for building others
up according to their needs, that it may benefit
those who listen."
(Ephesians 4:29; NIV)

Who drinks water? The Queen of England does. Three-time NBA champion LeBron James. The brilliant astrophysicist Stephen Hawking drinks water. And so does Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. In fact, just about everybody drinks the life-giving beverage. But are you drinking enough? Doctors recommend that you drink 3 liters of water a day in order to stay hydrated and to perform at your best. Read on to find out all the health benefits of getting your recommended dose of H2O. Cleanses toxins inside your body By drinking 3 liters of water daily, it helps to flush out bacteria and toxins that are trapped withing your system. Studies show that by drinking more water , the kidneys get rid of the waste and toxins that pass through the liver. Drink for clear glowing skin Drinking water helps to hydrate your skin barrier, and flush out the bacteria underneath the surface of your skin that causes acne. Stress, your diet, environmental factors also trigger acne. If your skin is dehydrated or stressed, water can definitely help clear your skin. Boosts immune system Drinking water ensures that your blood will carry plenty of oxygen throughout the cells in your body. Humans cannot live or function properly without h20, which is why athletes can suffer from hypovolemia (a disorder that causes decrease of blood plasma) Prevents headaches Water can help cure hangovers as well as headaches. If you want to go an all natural en route and not take medicine, the great thing is water is readily available anywhere and it’s cheap in the United States. Prevent cramps: For the ladies, it can help prevent cramps – You may be experiencing either an electrolyte imbalance or even a mineral deficiency. When you’re on a menstrual cycle, your muscles are contracting even more so drinking three liters daily will help your muscles. |
Was thinking about the fellow that jumped into the
lagoon yesterday and I just couldn't help but feel
sad....I spent time wondering what could have
moved the young man to such an action. Heard on
radio this morning that he was just 35 years....
At 35 he was a doctor...had a car, and even a
driver...from the Nigerian standard that sounds like
a successful young man in all ramifications.
There probably were lots of his secondary school
mates or his university mates envying him.
But truth is no one knew what he was going
through.....
I concluded that he was having a bout of
depression and it took a bad turn.
I will ask some pertinent questions.
When last did we check on a friend that we haven't
heard from in a while?
When last did we visit some one we knew was
finding things difficult?
When we see someone who had it going so well
and all of a sudden is finding it hard to make ends
meet, do we make fun of them?
When was the last time we called the names of
particular people in our circle during our prayers
with our creator, to intercede on their behalf ?
The economy is tough and truly people are finding
it more difficult to survive.
I have noticed personally an increased number of
destitutes in Lagos lately.
We need to watch out for each other.......we need to
call, we need to visit. I am hoping we check in on
others from time to time ( physically).
We never know who needs just an ear to listen to
all the problems he/she is going through.
Let's be more caring..... To at least call someone
per day just to say hello!
Lets ponder on this for a few seconds and decide
to assist each other psychologically today.
Good morning. JESUS CARES!!!!

asuustrike2009:Well, many people want to do their PG there, hence the screening. |
It's devil's tool to promote, popularize and present immortality as the in thing. May I never watch that show throughout the days of my life on this planet earth. . . The picture explains better.
|
SirWere:But not normal in UNIZIK. Talking from my experience there. |
asuustrike2009:Ok. But the school good apart from this stress that is everywhere. |
The culprits are Mr Ejike Okeke and Mrs Nweke Nk.
This is for the purpose of investigation or verification. |
crackhouse:I agree. It's true for some ooooo. |
asuustrike2009:Have you been to the school before? It wasn't like that before ooooo. |
I decided to post this here on nairaland because I know this is the best platform to reach UNIZIK authorities since it is almost impossible for me to reach them face to face. My story: I paid a whole 10k convocation fee (for this recession) + remitta #100 and bank commission #500 just make I for follow people wey do convocation. I spent money travelling to Awka, lodged with my friends and spent extra for feeding. After the payments, I went to collect my gown. I was told to go confirm my payment at the cash office. It was already to 4 so I decided to go the next day. I got to the cash office that next day around to 10. I joined the very long queue and it got to my turn around 12:15. The man started telling me stories just because he wants me to give him something but I got no mind for stuffs like that. (The man's way is: Give me moni, I won't gih you story but don't gih me moni and I'll gih you story) Since I no shake body, the man (Mr Ejik* Ok*k*) told me to go and meet the woman (Mrs Nw*k* Nk). I had to join another long queue. When e come de reach me, I come see say na format she de use. Like 10 people go carry pepper put for middle of the slips somit gih the woman. So if you no contribute OYO. I come tire for the matter, I come begin de observe. I observed that students give those cash office workers up to #500 and Even 1k depending on your capacity. No matter the amount of abeg you have, you must drop at least, 2h and that is for one slip only. There are many things to pay for: Convocation, T shirt (3 times), security handbook, matric gown, identity card, school fees, accreditation, hostels etc. You (every unizik student) must confirm evry remita payment @ d cash office, be you masters, PHD, PGD, Part time, Sandwich, Diploma, Regular, Pre science etc. All levels in UNIZIK, with about 64 departments. You can imagine the amount of bribe moni this people are making if each slip per student is #500 or even #200. (You may wish to calculate it and get the estimate) You may say: na noma thing but I tell you throughout my undergraduate days, I no experience anything like that. I hereby plead with the authorities and the PRO to look into this matter. THANKS. |
