VGMA PART 1

Anytime i jump onto an issue then you must know that it really needs to be tackled.

Today let us talk about the VGMA AND NOMINATION CRITERIA.

Have you had a close look at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards?? Have you noticed the direction it is moving to?? Personally i dont know how to put my thoughts and feelings in words but i think the whole thing is kinda going off track.

Why should a whole National awards ceremony be structured in a way that favours only a fraction of the whole nation or a group of regions out of the 10 regions in GH.
What i mean is, so those that do not spit in Twi, English, Pijin, Fante, and the distinguished dialects, are they not Ghanaians?? Well maybe they are repping S.A or 9ja .
It is so sad to come to realise that these people do not even have a category to belong. They are not covered at all. I dont know if they dont record with same type of studios the recognised ones record with.
Somebody may attribute this to the fact that they are not branding themselves well and that is why they are not known but hey! Let the commitee receive this message and take it in good heart and let's bet if next year they are not going to get artistes from those parts of GH to nominate.
If you go to their places, they also making hits and their people are loving their songs.
I am yet to find out if the VGMA has an arm in these places to oversee their goings. All their focus is centered around Greater Accra,, Ashanti, Central, and few other regions who are much into some particular music genres.

So should it happen that an artiste due to his differences with some board members of an awards ceremony, be neglected?, or all other artistes that support such an artiste openly be neglected?, when they are making hits??
Is it a national music awards for all artistes in the nation?, or a private awards ceremony organised by some group of people for only the calm artistes?? So Balotelli is rude means he never deserves Man Of the Match award?
Why not deal with people whose actions are seen to contradict the Music Industry off the awards After all there are more than many punishments that can be meted out to culprits; fine, suspension, and what have you.

I have more ideas to offer them if they give me the platform and i know for sure you have something good for them as well. Let's keep on reminding them because its clear that they have forgotten. Not that they don't know.
Share this message with all stakeholders untill it reaches the feet of VGMA & MUSIGA. THANK YOU.

From observation and personal experiences(as a rapper in GH), I could say it chest out that most of the underground musicians are doing better than the 'BOSSES'.
What they lack is just the platform to show the world what they got owing to financial constraints and neglect by the people. Its about time we pay attention to these upcoming arts. They own the future.
