Politics / Armsgate Scandal: Why Goodluck Jonathan Should Visit The EFCC by izzyu(m): 6:19am On Jan 14, 2016
Editor’s note: Two days ago Ibrahim Magu, the EFCC chairman, dotted all i’s by explaining why the former president Goodluck Jonathan was not prosecuted for allegedly being involved in the armsgate scandal. However, a guest columnist, holds another point of view. Considering the gravity of the revelations from one of the major corruption scandals in Nigeria, he urges Goodluck Jonathan to visit the EFCC, and make his position on the issue known to Nigerians.

Since the late November 2015 both traditional and social media have been following the mind-boggling revelations from armsgate, or Dasukigate as some prefer to call one of the deadliest corruption scandals in the Nigerian history. These revelations are not only embarrassing, but also very annoying. For goodness sake, why should anyone divert the funds meant for equipping the military at the expense of Nigerian citizens?

One scandal — too many actors

It was alleged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) that a huge sum of $2.1 billion meant for arms purchase was diverted for personal use by the former national security adviser, Sambo Dasuki. Since the investigation began, many political bigwigs have been implicated in one way or another, including President Buhari’s political ally, Jafaru Isah, who also received a sum of N170 million from Dasuki.

One important thing to note, based on the confessional statements of the accused, is that a large chunk of the funds was used for the re-election of the former president Goodluck Jonathan, with the NSA office serving as a conduit for distribution. The owner of AIT and a business mogul, Raymond Dokpesi, received N2.1 billion; the national publicity secretary of the PDP, Olisa Metuh, collected N400 million; the former secretary to the government of the federation and the leader of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Chief Olu Falae, received N100 million; the former national chairman of the PDP, Dr Bello Haliru, got N600 million. Some former governors and a number of political giants have also been mixed up in the scandal.

The allegations are so heinous that one finds it difficult to believe the former president Jonathan was not involved. Even though the EFCC boss, Ibrahim Magu, said: “All approvals by former president Jonathan did not mention that it was for political purposes. All the memos approved by him were for the purchase of arms,” I still strongly believe Mr Jonathan has many questions to answer. Whether or not he was involved, I see no reason why he should not visit the EFCC, and make his position known to Nigerians. After all, he is alive, hale and hearty. Goke7:
Its time afenifere moved on after GEJ loss at the polls on march 28, the way they've been playing politics after the kidnap of falae just to get back at buhari cos he is a Fulani is becoming childlish. They should allow the States governments in the sw handle the Fulani cattlemen issue which most if them are already doing.

I also advise PMB to get a job for odumakin as he is desperately looking for one, he seems to be lost out there in the cold especially when he looks back to think he was PMB spokesman in 2011. He may have derailed cos of GEJ dollars but if the likes of ita enang who was still a PDP member few months ago could get appointed by PMB then odumakin deserves another chance. I rest my case.

you must be a fool, your point does not hold water. what do you mean playing politics, the problem should not be
left to the sw alone. The northerners must curtail this nonsense. Think before you comment.
Politics / Re: On Social Media, How Women Secretly Seduce The New Monarch - SPY NIGERIA by izzyu(m): 8:28am On Oct 27, 2015
nansng:
The new Ooni of Ife-Designate, Prince Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi is indisputably a handsome young man.
Since his emergence to the exalted stool, as announced early yesterday morning by the Osun State government, the social media has been awash with comments from women hailing his charming looks. Some of these admirers were openly wooing the new king, through online medium, openly wooed this newest king in town, lobbying to become to be admitted into the royal family.

The new Oba’s charms – his sparkling chocolate complexion and prosperous mien – have become an irresistible feature to many women. His winsome looks, many insist, are strong enough to melt the heart of any woman. Some of his female fans simply described him as an Oba without a wrinkle.
The 41-year-old business mogul, industrialist and real estate magnate, has been described as man of strong will and an accounting professional with an impeccable character. Investigation revealed that he had, over the years, diligently and quietly, run his businesses, but his ascension to the throne of his forefathers has brought him into the limelight.
With his rising and intimidating profile, especially with the latest royal garlands, many of the women took to the social media to pour out their affections for the revered Oba. They are announcing their desire to cuddle in the monarch’s arms if such might please the latest custodian of the Royal House Oduduwa. He is today, without much doubt, one of the most admired kings in the land.
Lara Love posted on Facebook: “Our new Oba is the most handsome I have ever seen in Nigeria. You are so cute. This is a sharp and handsome king. No one can actually see you and look the other way. This is my dream husband,”
One young lady, Kemi simply went straight to the point on her facebook page: “My king, I am ready for the master’s use. You must look at my direction because you are the finest and sweetest. You are simply too much for your wife alone, so, quickly do the needful. May my king live long to enjoy the throne.”
Lady Omo said: “Wao, this is Mr. Nigeria, not just an oba. I have been looking at the picture since morning. If I was not married, it is the kind of man I can easily go for even before he makes his intention to me.”
“Where have this prince been all these while. How come I have not seen or heard about you, despite that I am from Ile-Ife too? My king is handsome and clean,” a lady, Sweet Lade wrote.
Faith Ademuyiwa: “I don’t have any word to describe you because I believe that you are a complete man. I am proud of your young personality. May your time not witness evil but to bring enduring peace and progress to Osun State and Nigeria as a whole.”

Politics / Re: FULANI HERDSMEN: Afenifere Fires Back At Kwankwaso by izzyu(m): 6:52am On Oct 27, 2015
tolexy007:
* Describes ex-gov’s remarks as clash of civilizations
within the Lugard cage
By Dapo Akinrefon
PAN-YORUBA socio-political organisation, Afenifere, has
faulted remarks made by former governor of Kano State,
Senator Rabiu Kwakwanso, who allegedly justified the
activities of Fulani herdsmen in the South West.
Senator Kwakwanso had said over the weekend that “the
issue of conflict between the farmers and Fulani
herdsmen is not common to the South west alone. It is
not even common to Nigeria. It is all over the sub
region. In a statement, Afenifere’s publicity secretary, Mr. Yinka
Odumakin said “In a replay of the sordid episode of 2000
when Arewa leaders rudely stormed the office of then
Oyo state governor, Alhaji Lam Adesina on behalf of
nomadic cattle rearers, former Kano state governor and
serving Senator, Rabiu Kwakwanso came with verbal
daggers to the same city at the weekend asking the age
mates of his father to “shut up.”
According to him, it is another sad day for the clash of
civilizations within the Lugard cage when a man who has
occupied all the offices Kwakwanso has held, opens his
mouth in a people’s domain and all he vomits make
listeners to confuse him with a herdsman or Boko Haram
chieftain.”
The statement reads: “Kwankwaso’s grouse with Yoruba
leaders was our call for an end to the criminal activities
of Fulani herdsmen in the region at the recent summit in
Ibadan and that the Yoruba nation may reconsider its
place in a union that could not protect us and would not
allow us to protect ourselves if we did not see any sign
to restructure Nigeria into a proper federation.
“The declaration is not anywhere near the statement of
Gen Yakubu Gowon on August 3 1966: “there is no basis
for Nigerian unity, which has been so badly rocked, not
only once but several times.” or the theme of the North’s
revenge coup of July 29,1967 titled ARABA, an Hausa
word meaning “let us divide it”.
In addition, Afenifere said “In all his ramblings in Ibadan,
Kwakwanso did not condemn the abduction of Chief Olu
Falae, the killing of innocent farmers, raping of women
and destruction of crops and farmlands in the course of
the grazing activities of Fulani herdsmen. He only tacitly
justified their activities by offering excuses for their
criminal conducts.”
“The issue that we are talking about, education is very
important. If all Fulani are given opportunity to go to
school, I don’t think they will risk their lives and their
animals going into the bush, where there are reptiles. I
think the key thing is education.
“Kwakwanso wants Yoruba “understanding of the
situation” while his kinsmen continue to draw their blood,
violating their women and destroying their farmlands
until Mallam decides to give them education may be
when we celebrate another centenary.
“The double speak of Kwakwanso is galling as he was a
few months ago celebrating the hordes of Almajiris in the
north as a positive development that provides a
demography that could easily be herded for electoral
process.
“Rabiu Kwakwanso in an interview he granted Vanguard
Newspaper on April 26,2015, lambasted the wife of
former President of Nigeria for “insulting” the north over
the menace of Almajiri children which he considered a
thing of ‘pride,’ saying, “Look at what the wife of the
President said about us-northerners. She was just
castigating the North almost at every opportunity. You
cannot insult us and think that you can get away with it.
This democracy is a game of numbers, and that is why
we went back and put almajiris together to get about two
million votes.
“The issue of almajiris have been opened to abuse in this
country and turned into insults for us. Almajiri here is a
positive word but the way they see it is that we are
beggars, that we produce so many children that we
cannot take care of, and that is what the First Lady was
saying and we kept quiet because we had our own way
of answering her and we did exactly that on the 28th of
March.”
“Kwankwanso further said that the Fulani should be
given the opportunity to go to school as if the Yoruba
were the ones who denied them such opportunity in
almost 40 years that the north has held power since
independence.
“With the uncouth, rude and insensitive remarks of
Kwankwaso and his ilk in the North which are like
pouring salt on injury, it is coming clear to us that there
may be a grand agenda with the activities of the Fulani
herdsmen either as an advance party of Boko Haram into
our territory or an expansionist project.
“The Yoruba leaders therefore stand by every word in the
Ibadan declaration,” said Odumakin.
