edikaniu: Step 2 - Join a Good Network After creating your website or blog, the next step is to join a good affiliate program. It is not just good enough to join any affiliate program because the commission is high, but you need to choose a popular and reliable network that offers product/services related to the topics of you website or blog. This will guarantee more income since the ads displayed on your site will most likely be related to the topic your visitors are interested in.
Choose a networks with large amount of advertisers that all have active affiliate programs. These networks just aggregate these advertisers into one place to make it easier for you. The two terms to understand in affiliate marketing is that you are considered the publisher (affiliate) and the product/service you are promoting is the advertiser. There are quite a number of affiliate networks out there which include : Commission Junction, Linkshare, ShareASale, Amazon Associate, PayDotCom.com, Clickbank. From my wealth of experience in affiliate marketing, I will recommend Commission Junction and Linkshare for a start, because they are very popular and established, they offer a wide range of affiliate programs. Step 3 - Choose a Suitable Advertiser This step plays a key role in affiliate marketing. The choice of your advertiser should depend on your niche (topics on your website or blog). You do not want to promote products or services for companies that do not match your niche. If you were running a website dedicated to real estate, you wouldn’t promote auto parts products. They just don’t work. Most affiliates fail when they don’t have the right offers for their audience. You want to look through the affiliate network and find advertisers that match your niche and who your readers will react to. If you speak about a specific product or category a lot, then check out the advertisers who are in said category.
After choose a suitable advertiser, the next step is to apply to be in their program. This requires you to read their terms and accept them. They will then either approve you automatically, decline you, or manually review your application. It can take days to weeks to hear back from some advertisers. Don’t get discouraged. |
