We are to start the second book on Tuesday 21st, so based on the decisions taken today it means the review for the first book should start coming in from Tuesday. But for the sake of those like me who are yet to finish the first book, we are asking that the review be delayed till 23rd so we have 3 days to round up. Meanwhile those that are already done can start reading the next book from 21st as originally planned and the review for this one will commence 1st of August. So please give us 3 days. |
Lorayne:My own case is just procrastination, once I start I don't want to stop but then I get distracted and it takes me 2 days to get back to it |
Ana4love:yes like this |
Geminita:No we have agreed on this Each Month 2 weeks: Read book 1, review book 2 of last month 2 weeks: Read book 2, review book 1 Next Month 2 weeks: Read book 1, review book 2 of last month so we continue like this each month |
Lorayne:Me too, although I don't have any excuse, I've been playing since morning. I think is because we started late sha but as from next month we will have at least 14 days for each book unlike this month that it's just 10 days each. |
Lorayne:We read a book for 2 weeks and review and discuss the next 2 weeks while we are reading the 2nd book of the month. This way we can do 2 books per month. I feel 3 weeks might be too long for reading and it will be hard to count in 3s |
Geminita:Yes a month is too much now that I think about it. What if we do it this way, we use 2 weeks instead for review, so once we start the next book, we can start sending our reviews for the previous book. That is 2 weeks for reading and 2 weeks for review and discussions. Is this better |
ELibraryNG:Just search for b-ok on Google and you will see a site "Z library" open it and search the. book you need. It is free to download 5 books per day without any registration. You should also download "PocketBook" from play store so you can read .epub, .PDF, .mobi and other ebook files. You can also use "ReadEra" app but it can't open .mobi files. Also Geminita have made it easier. There's no excuse for us not to read in this age. Thank you for the question, I was supposed to talk about it sooner |
Jack273:What do you guys think? |
Geminita:I think Ana4love is right so let's pick a day for reviews. I just had an idea now. Since we will be finishing (at least supposed to) the two books at the end of the month, we can start the reviews next month. That is the books we read this month will be reviewed throughout next month So we will have a whole month for reviews and discussions without spoilers and a whole month of reading. This way we can keep the thread alive. |
Geminita you are already done with the book. I read about 60 pages today but I'm no where near the end. I'll read your review once am done. I need to improve my reading speed. The book is interesting but quite longer than I'm used to. |
Jack273:The results are out. let's start reading and remember you can come here at anytime to discuss the books. Thanks to those that nominated and voted, also the silent observers. Any feedback is welcomed |
PrincessMila:Yeah, sorry I'll mention you on the 23rd to remind you to nominate against next month |
Less than 20 mins remaining before voting stops |
Nominations have ended but we still have 12hours to vote.
Remember a "share" is equal to "2 likes"
Let's start sharing and liking 2 books of our choice. Just 4 contenders.

Geminita, Lorayne, Ana4love please let's mention other book lovers. Your recommendations and inputs are greatly appreciated |

Good day my fellow book lovers. After much consideration we have decided to start our very own book club right here, Nairaland Book Club (NBC). This will be a place for all book lovers and those that have always wanted to be a part of a book club. Some people still have the mentality that Nigerians don't read (even in schools our lecturer dey say na la cram la pour we dey do) but I know this is not true so let's come together and prove them wrong. Not only proving them wrong, let's start a revolution. In other to make this NBC a success, there will be some grand rules. These rules may be modified from time to time so do refer back here for more information. Format 1. Two books will be selected each month as the books of the month 2. Each book will be read, discussed, reviewed etc within a period of 2 weeks (ie 14 days) 3.
