When Mark Zuckerberg in November 2016 shared what Facebook was doing to combat fake news otherwise known as misinformation, I thought something was really going to be done about it, but it seems Facebook is still having problems dealing with the issue of FAKE NEWS. Our goal is to connect people with the stories they find most meaningful, and we know people want accurate information. We’ve been working on this problem for a long time and we take this responsibility seriously. The above was Zuckerberg’s words in his post dated November 19, 2016. Truth is that the issue of fake news is seriously pulling down the vision Facebook has for its billions of users. In the early morning hours of Thursday (30th March 2017), a case of character/personality damage was posted on Facebook by an account suspected to be a FAKE Facebook account and up till now nothing has been done by Facebook to either flag that account as fake or even take down the post. A Facebook account created in 2017 with just five (5) photos uploaded between February and March 2017 on Thursday posted a photo of a Customs officer who a supposedly owner of the account by name Kate James alleged that the customs officer slept with her with a promise to buy her a phone. The Kate James character in the Facebook post wrote how she slept with the customs officer as well passing her friends to him after which they planned killing the officer plus an advance plans of his kidnap all because the officer promised to buy her a phone but did not fulfill his promise. The post as at the time of writing this article has received more than 170 comments on it and it’s spreading like flames on Facebook, blogs and other media platforms. Judging by the age of this account, one can clearly notice that the Kate James FB account is FAKE and was just created to tarnish the custom officer and this is one area I feel Facebook has failed. It’s so disappointing to know that people can easily create an account on Facebook and use it to tarnish people’s reputation online without any form of check from Facebook. Surprisingly, a Facebook user by name Dan McCain had reported this post to Facebook but got a heartbreaking reply: I have reported this several times and gotten a response that it doesn’t go against community policy. To steal pictures and make a wild post damaging the persons reputation isn’t against community policy? By refusing to take this down you are making yourself liable to a cyber bullying and identity theft case, said Dan McCain. To be sure I am not the only one noticing this scandal, I took to Facebook to find out what people were saying in comment and also to check if the Kate James was actually active and replying to the comments (which by the way should have been the right thing to do) but there was no sign of her reply in all of the comments. The smart ones among those that commented didn’t find it hard flagging the post as FAKE, SCANDAL and MISINFORMING. Here are few comments I pulled from the post on Facebook: Ehiabhilyson Praise Jude And you people believe this? You actually think this page is real? Those pics real? Nigerians are so predictable! Do you know how many Abdullai Mohammed we have in Nigeria? Was the man tagged? To what end is this post? To disgrace the man or to disgrace herself? And you people are wasting emotions on one mumu mischievous foggy character behind a smart phone whose motive you don’t know. Make una continu. Ichie Mazi Ndubuisi Obi Even after reading that kidnap lines you didn’t realize this whole thing is fake? Sorry is your name! Nneka Ozoemena Onyekaonwu Fake page. You’re not Kate anything. This is not your real pic. Francine Isijola Fbi This is just too fake, this page was just opened last month. Ella G Onyegbuna U have a point…may be the girl that owns this picture might not even know what’s going on. Precious Ekeshili Thank you o… Tell them… Do they know if they hacked her system? Francine Isijola Fbi Yes, because she can’t be this foolish to disgrace herself like this. Ichie Mazi Ndubuisi Obi Yes.. Nigerians are so cheap and stupid at times.. You went and spent 4 years in school, graduated and someone will just write one nonsense and you believe it at once.. Pity! Amara Anyaoha If you believe this, you will believe anything. Igwilo Chuka Fake girl..fake story.. Dan McCain This is a fake profile. I know the real person. Facebook will remove this profile soon Dan McCain To the person perpetrating this: Posting this kind of lies has real consequences. Your ip can be tracked. Dss is very efficient in these cases Rachel Lami Togan Truly fake. Identity theft is real. Rachel Lami Togan This is a fake account and it is a crime to use someone else’s identity to perpetrate such acts. Lucy Udie I cant believe that this pretty girl wil put this up this disgraceful act on facebook no way!!! She is being blackmailed by no other than jealous friends who are trying to spoil her image. This is just to bad Ichie Mazi Ndubuisi Obi You are so right darling.. This is cheap blackmail Amarachi Udoezika This is a big lie…fake profile, I know the real person. Your IP will be traced Mfonabasi Freeman AS A PSYCHOLOGIST,THIS SHIT IS TOTALLY FAKE. THESE ARE THE INVESTIGATIONS.1. THE FACEBOOK ACCOUNT WAS CREATED IN 2017.2. MOST OF THE ACTIVITIES THERE ON HER TIMELINE IS ABOUT ADVERT FOR PONZI SITE.3. THE CLAIMED PERSON HAS NEVER RESPONDED TO ANY COMMENT ON HER FB.4. ALL HER PHOTOS ARE ADDED FROM FEB TO MARCH.CONCLUSION; FACEBOOK IS GETTING TOO RISKY AS ANYBODY CAN HAVE FB ACCOUNT WITH YOUR NAMES AND PHOTOS JUST TO TARNISH YOUR IMAGE. EVERY BULLSHIT WRITTEN THERE IS FAKE. A REASONABLE HUMAN BEING WILL NOT DISCLOSE HER ILL PLAN AGAINST SOMEONE’S LIFE KNOWING FULLY WELL SHE CAN BE ARRESTED. AGAIN,SHE WOULD HAVE RUN TO EDIT OR DELETE THE POST AFTER SEEING A COMMENTS FROM AUDIENCE ABOUT DSS TARGET. THE BULSHIT IS FAKE. Peace Kenneth Sum pple no even get sense, which woman go bodly post dis nonsense online…hacked profile Eni Victor Oi-ses if it’s true that her account was hacked or cloned, then we should be reporting this to FB ASAP so it is taken down! Emelike Prince Fool, DSS and police will soon come for u, u are planning kidnap and even to kill him..that means u know kidnappers and criminals, and patronizing them. No wonder, you and your friends have been giving information to criminal about wealthy men. Are you not the one who is useless? sleeping with men and passing him round your friends for cheap benefits and shamelessly ranting in public. Chinwe Gloria Onuogu-Ochiogu Come to think about it, u mentioned u had intention of kidnapping or killing someone, watch out for DSS and police. U’re so crazy and immature. No allow me vex ooo. I can go ahead to pull up more comments on this post from Facebook, but what matters at this point is for Facebook to take the issue of fake news serious because news like this can spread within seconds and the damage they cause in most cases are not easily reversed. I am sure DSS and Police will surely look into this matter because the #kidnapping and #killing keywords used in this post are life threatening. While there are speculations that the account may have been hacked or cloned what really matters right now is for the real owner of the picture on that account, to quickly go public and prove her innocence so as to exonerate herself from this mess before it’s too late. Google has just announced three hot updates to its Google Translate. The Alphabet owned company an hour ago rolled out some big improvements on Google Translate. “Of the 500 million+ people who use Google Translate, more than 9 in 10 live outside the U.S. We’ve talked with thousands of you in India, Indonesia, Brazil, and Thailand to learn what works and what doesn’t—and today we’re rolling out some big improvements,” said a Google official blog. The three main updates Google rolled out today are Tap to Translate on Android, Offline Mode support for iOS and Word Lens support for Chinese. For the hundreds of millions using Android across the globe, the most important update is the Tap to Translate feature. Google stressed how hard the team have been working to put an end to the copy-paste text between Google Translate and other apps. According to Google, with the introduction of Tap to Translate on Android, you can just copy the text of a chat, comment, song lyric, etc. in whichever app you’re using, and a translation will pop up right there—no need to switch apps: For the hundreds of millions using Android across the globe, the most important update is the Tap to Translate feature. Every four years, the FIFA World Cup event takes place with 32 nations put on the battle field to contest for the title of “World Cup Champions.” Usually at this time, the entire world is put on hold as the event attracts people from different parts of the world to a place where history will be made. This period is also a time global brands and businesses invest heavily in football because there is always going to be a corresponding ROI… However, in the eyes of a smart entrepreneur, the FIFA World Cup 2014 game is not just a football game but an event where several business lessons can be learned. After a long time analysis of the events that unfolded at the Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup, I was able to come up with 6 different business lessons an entrepreneur can learn and apply to his business or entrepreneurial endevours. Let’s run though them: #1 Patience with focused mind is a virtue in a business-playing field One of the games played at the FIFIA World Cup 2014 that put the whole world to shock was the Brazil-Germany game! It was a game which so many people predicted to be one of the toughest. Some even went ahead to tag it the “Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup Finals.” While this turned not to be true, it however left an indelible positive and negative marks plus history on both countries. It was the first in the history of Brazilian football to conceive 5 goals in less than 28 minutes of play with another 2 goals to seal up their loss. Here is a little Word Cup history of Brazil and Germany: In 2009 FIFA World Cup: Brazil 4 vs 0 Germany In 2002 FIFA World Cup: Brazil 2 vs 0 Germany In 2004 FIFA World Cup: Brazil 1 vs 1 Germany ————————————————————— Total scores Brazil 7 – 1 Germany After all these years, this is how Germany retrieved all their lost goals and victories: 2014 FIFA World Cup: Brazil 1 vs 7 Germany I paused for sometime after doing this analysis, because it’s something very rare especially in the case of numbers. But it happened and we all saw it at the games. Business Lesson to learn: When it’s your time, it’s your time. A 10 years of mistake in your business can gloriously be corrected in one year! It doesn’t matter how long it took you to be heard in the business world, all what you need is patience combined with a focused mindset and when the time comes for your business to shine, it will do so in a more glorified and celebrated manner. #2 Businesses with unique differentiator wins big The FIFA World Cup amongst other tournaments such as the Olympics, Champions League, Premiership and host others happens to be one tournament that puts on-hold every other activities once it kicks off. The question would be – why is it so that this tournament attracts global attention? Is it because it’s a World Cup tournament? Being a World Cup tournament is not enough to answer that question. There is more to it and that is simply the “timing.” Ordinarily, people would think that FIFA may want to cut down the four years gap to maybe two years because of the global attention the tournament attracts. But the FIFA World Cup games has remained a four years interval tournament as it uses these four years to build up greater interests, expectations, passion and commitment as the event nears. Business Lesson to learn: As an entrepreneur, you need to determine a “unique differentiator” for your business. For FIFA, its unique differentiator is the “timing.” Year in year out, many football games are played but it’s only FIFA World Cup that triggers the passion and commitment that brings the world together. As an entrepreneur, you need to find out when best to launch your products and services or when to announce a special business event. Make it a point of necessity not to be moved by what every other business is doing. Always have timing for your business endevours. If you are reading this article and you have not yet discovered your business unique differentiator, then it’s a BIG lesson you have learned today! #3 Global brands pick their strength from Community building The FIFA World Cup event has always been a time global brands pour out their community marketing campaigns. This is usually the period when global brands put behind the profit mindset to focus only on their consumers (the football community) who in turn will help them sing more praises to the global market both on live shows and in commercial views. Brands like Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Kia, Hyundai, Nike, and host of others seizes this period to build a community of passionate and committed consumers by tying their products and services to the global football community rather than tying their products and services to themselves. Business Lesson to learn: As an entrepreneur, you need to learn how to build your business around a formidable community of consumers and prospects. Invest more on adding value to your consumers, talk about them always, sample their opinions from time to time and always try not to tie your business to yourself. You are already your business, but you will need a community of consumers and prospects to keep it selling. #4 A Timely strategy will help you surprise your competitors In the last quarter-final match of the FIFA World Cup 2014, Costa Rica gave a tough fight to the Netherlands (one that ordinarily, people wouldn’t have believed) as the game was decided in the penalty shootout after the goalless 90 minutes plus 30 minutes of extra time. The performances put up by Costa Rica in the early games made them emerge as the surprise package of the tournament and they proved their worth against the Dutch team (one of the best teams of the tournament) before crashing out in the penalty shootouts of 4-3. Before the penalty shootout, the Netherlands coach, Louis van Gaal saw the winning drive in the Costa Rican team and hence came up with a last minute and timely strategy to bring in a substitute goalkeeper, Tim Krul, who worked well as he saved two penalties to help the Netherlands make it to the next round. Business Lesson to learn: In the business world, timely strategy is very important. As an entrepreneur, you need to know when you are losing out of your business goals so you can quickly employ a timely strategy to remain in the business-playing field. It does not only boil down on having talent, but combining talent with timely strategy which will help you go deep into competitive markets and come out on top. #5 Talent works but does not always win all the time Talking about “talent” here is what you need to know… Four years ago, Spain lifted the FIFA 2010 World Cup and won the title of the “World Defending Champions.” This achievement coupled with the fact that a greater percentage of their players are all from the almighty “Barcelona” and “Real Madrid” Football Clubs, made people believe so much in them as to do it again in the FIFA World Cup 2014 . Who doesn’t believe that Barcelona joined with Real Madrid is bunch whole of “talents?” This however, became a reverse! Spain with 90% talented players exited the game at the early group stages after an embarrassing loss to the Netherlands. Apart from Spain, two other countries with a handful of talents joined the exit league… I am talking about England (where many renowned English professional footballers hail from) and of cause Italy! All these three mighty teams exited the game without getting to the knock-out stage, thereby making way for smaller and less talented teams to advance. Business Lesson to learn: Ordinarily, who would believe that big names like Spain, England, Italy, and Portugal will exit the FIFA World Cup 2014 at an early group stages? But it happened and not by accident. As an entrepreneur, your talent is not enough to get you there; you will need both your talent and other things like innovation, strategy, effort, focus and dedication to get to where you’re heading to. #6 The big brands are sometimes taken unawares This is not too far from lesson #5 in the sense that it still points to how small or less discussed countries displaced the most discussed countries. If you watched through the Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup matches, you will notice that many of the 16 teams that emerged into the knock-out rounds were not the world’s best. Countries like Nigeria, Greece, Algeria, Costa Rica, and the U.S all came out of very difficult groups to emerge ahead of teams like England, Italy, Spain and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal. Among these less discussed countries is Algeria who celebrated a breakthrough moment after decades of frustration. Les Fennecs (Desert Foxes) recorded a 1-1 draw with Russia to seal their progress to the Round of 16 for the first time in their football history. Business Lesson to learn: This is not really surprising news as it happens in every big sporting event. As an entrepreneur and a business owner, the lesson you will learn here is that the biggest players aren’t always the most fit to deliver the products and services that clients require. It doesn’t matter if you are new to a business system or have little or no experience, one calculated step you take in your business can result to a total transformation on your business. All what you need is focus, unique value differentiator and a learning mindset. About the tomorrow’s FIFA World Cup 2014 finals… In less than 48 hours from now, the Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup will soon become a history with Argentina facing the Brazil’s history makers of 7 goals to 1, Germany in a contest on who will lift the trophy. Argentina have a long history of appearing in the World Cup finals last in Mexico 1986 where they played and win the German team. Since then it has always been a hustle for Argentina to get to the World Cup finals. Their dreams of reaching the finals in South Africa 2010 was cut short by Germany at the quarter finals played at the Green Point Stadium with a 4 goals to nothing win. Argentina’s success over the Netherlands gave them back the dreams the German team took from them four years back in South Africa. Hence, how they utilize it against the German team tomorrow – Sunday, July 13 2014 at the Estadio Maracana stadium positioned in the capital city of Rio de Janeiro is up to them. There are much business and entrepreneurial lessons to learn from the Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup finals, ranging from the teams, the football community, the sponsors, and FIFA body at large. Just keep your eyes and mind open to what business lesson(s) you will learn tomorrow! Article source: http://www.jackpreneur.com/business-lessons-entrepreneurs-can-learn-from-fifa-world-cup-2014/ |

A similar article has once been published here on Nairaland about How Paypal Nigeria Is Closing Businesses Of Nigerian Internet Entrpreneurs https://www.nairaland.com/1808660/how-paypal-nigeria-closing-businesses |
twosquare: Crap....na person wey get money 4 im bank account dey spend anyhow....$267..roughly ₦43000 in a hour....yẹyẹ dey smell.Funny! I understand that N43,000 in an hour sounds too way big or too good to be truth. But if you really understand the language of information and internet marketing you will know that people spend more than that amount in less than 1 hour especially when you find a working solution capable of solving people's problems. To an internet marketer, a problem solved interprets into thousands and hundreds of thousands of naira into his bank account. |
Yes! And I will say it again – PayPal’s presence in Nigeria is gradually closing businesses of Nigerian internet entrepreneurs… In the last few weeks, many would be Nigerian internet entrepreneurs and the already existing ones (including myself) were on our highest rejoicing mood singing and celebrating the arrival of PayPal in Nigeria in praises on our blogs and social media platforms space. Unknown to many Nigerian internet entrepreneurs (bloggers, internet and information marketers to be precise) owning a Nigeria PayPal account may mean the end and closure of their life time invested online businesses! To many of us, it was a dream come true because we thought the gateway to making and receiving payments from international online merchants was finally made available to Nigeria as a country. But little did we know how PayPal’s presence in Nigeria was going to shut down our businesses striving in Nigeria. This was made clear when PayPal officially announced that it was going to activate the “Send Payment Only” feature for Nigeria PayPal account users. Even when this was made known by PayPal, so many Nigerian internet marketers embraced it with the hope that in the near future PayPal will unleash its full package to Nigerians. What happens between now and that time (which I don’t really see PayPal looking into that early) is my major concern. Before now, I used to see many shinny and must-grab offers made online by international internet entrepreneurs and after going through some of them I find them appealing and would throw my wallet at them just to have a copy of their products. As a result, I subscribed to many of these offers and even their blogs for updates. All these years of PayPal’s absence in Nigeria, I do receive newsletters and offers in my inbox but afterwards no action was taken simply because I didn’t have the purchasing power to make payments, so at the end of the day I would have saved myself from spending my money on some of these unnecessary shinny offers. But with “PayPal’s Buy or Pay Only” package made available to Nigeria PayPal account users, the whole story have changed! It has really changed believe me. Here is a little of my experience on PayPal’s Presence in Nigeria lately: Last night I visited some very good offers I bookmarked in the past with the hope of buying them via some of the companies offering PayPal services here in Nigeria (until PayPal finally arrived in Nigeria) and before you know it, I had already spent $267.50 in less than 2 hours with my new Nigeria PayPal account! I was even ready to make more payment not until when I realized myself and paused to reflect through the actions I was taking. Remember I said these are good and appealing offers I had bookmarked in the past. But what happened here is that having a Nigeria PayPal account has only empowered me to BUY and BUY and BUY and not SELL… Now if you ask me that’s not entrepreneurship and that’s not what every other Nigerian internet entrepreneur should experience. Like I said earlier, before PayPal came to Nigeria, I had to go through each product I want to buy carefully, reflect on the amount and what I would gain from using or applying it here in Nigeria before making a buying decision. Making a buying decision means I have to first contact one of the PayPal services companies I use here in Nigeria. Now see the stages I have to pass through before making a single purchase or buying decision: Goes through products carefully >> reflect on the amount >> think of what I will gain from using it here in Nigeria >> choose either to make a buying decision or not >> finally contact my foreign PayPal services companies in Nigeria. Passing through these stages was stressful and time wasting but compared to my latest experience with my new Nigeria PayPal “Send Payment Only” feature account it’s far better for me since PayPal allows me to Spend Money straight from my Naira MasterCard linked to my PayPal account without a corresponding “Sell.” Hope you now have an idea of why I labeled this article “How PayPal’s Presence in Nigeria is Closing Businesses of Nigerian Internet Entrepreneur?” I am damn sure I am not the only Nigerian internet entrepreneur who at some point faces information over-load, even the international internet entrepreneurs do sometimes trust me on this… which is why writing this post in this era of PayPal’s presence is Nigeria is very necessary. PayPal has only empowered you to BUY but has REFUSED to empower you to SELL So how exactly is PayPal closing down business of Nigerian Internet Entrepreneurs? It’s simple and it’s what you’ve been reading the past minutes! Since the internet is hardly monopolized, it means anybody can enter any market place of his choice and scoop the available monies there. In the case of Nigerian internet market place, you as a Nigerian internet entrepreneur will lose the market to your foreign counterparts because they can now SELL DIRECT to your Nigerian customers (a thing PayPal has made possible). What this also means is that unless you’ve got a highly creative, appealing and wonderful offer or product to sell you may never get the chance to succeed in the Nigeria internet market space. You will agree more with me that even before now, most Nigerians feel more convinced buying from the international buddies and so they won’t have problem emptying their PayPal accounts to them this time it has been made easy for them to buy from international online merchant stores with their Naira Master and VisaCards. What then should you do to control PayPal’s Buy and Buy offers? The only solution is self discipline! Yes, it’s the only thing that’s gonna save you from this PayPal Buy and Buy and Buy syndrome… You just have to train yourself to be able to say NO to shinny offers made by these ever-fronting internet marketers (both local and international). Work on yourself to ONLY BUY or PAY for products and services that are HELPFUL to your business, finances and personal well-being. After spending $267.50 in 1 hour 23mins, I had to caution myself and took measures that will slow me down when considering buying or paying for offers and services. One of the measures I took was cleaning up my mail inbox by getting rid of the many useless offers and opt in subscriptions I made in the time past. A little advice though : Be sure of what mail you are deleting, in most cases you may have a mail carrying an offer that can change or give you a turnaround in your business. Always read through your mails before deleting irrespective of the person sending them. Remember you once opted in, which means you saw something then which may still be of help to you. Truth is if you really know what you are doing as an internet entrepreneur, you will know these mails when they arrive in your inbox and you should take necessary actions ASAP. Another measure I took towards ensuring a fair and just business via PayPal was changing my PayPal account password with special characters which I have to go look up each time I am faced with buying decisions. Having a simple password can lure you into buying things easily but when you remember you have to go look it up you may be saved from taking such step in between the lines… Don’t be the next victim of PayPal Buy and Buy and Buy syndrome, always be on the lookout for what comes your way and learn how to say NO to the ones that will not add value to your life and business. Let’s not forget easily that arguments have been raised as to the reasons why PayPal changed their mind on Nigeria, one of which was attributed to the fact that other foreign merchants like MasterCard, VisaCard, Amazon and the host of others have created their online presence in Nigeria following the exponential growth in the Nigerian internet market space. Hence, scooping part of these monies is undoubtedly part of the reasons PayPal came into Nigeria. All the same, I still rejoice for PayPal’s presence in Nigeria and still feels it’s one of the good things that has happened to Nigerian internet entrepreneurs but until PayPal unlocks its full payment service and other features for Nigerian users to not only BUY but also SELL online let’s learn how to remain focused… What do you think is the reason(s) why PayPal provided the “Send Money Only” feature for Nigerian users? Let’s talk about it comments… Article Source: http://www.jackpreneur.com/paypals-presence-in-nigeria-businesses/

A truth that cannot be hidden... |
Let me start off by asking these two questions: 1. do we really have true Nigerian bloggers or internet entrepreneurs in Nigeria? 2. if we have them, are they reaching out to the folks that badly needs their knowledge and services? I will go straight to writing this post hoping you give your answer at the end of it in comments… I took my time to check round on Google to see if a post of this kind has once been published by a real and true Nigerian blogger but was surprise to see that the one you are reading now is one of its kind! So what’s happening to the Nigerian blogoshpere? Is it that the long time established bloggers are not seeing or reading all the fake reviews that has been published online? Now, I know too well that we live in a world of equal opportunities, that’s you can easily say you are Mr. A when you are not. However, a little correction by means of publication would have made a whole of difference… What is this guy Jack really talking about? I am talking about picking and giving credit to the real Nigerian blogs that shows or teaches people practical and proven ways start up something no matter how small. The increasing number of blogs, news websites and forums in Nigeria has made it hard for intending Nigerian bloggers and internet entrepreneurs to succeed. Today, it’s very hard for people to know which blog to visit for ideas or knowledge as the Nigerian internet market has been flooded with news curators and copycats who only aims at driving unmerited traffic and feeling up their pockets with money while posting anything that comes their way. Following this trend, adding value or proffering solution that can help people grow online in Nigeria is by far not achievable. I have come across couple of Nigerian blogs where post titles of this kind “Top 20 Nigerian Best Bloggers in 2014” was made and at the end of the day what you will see is a list of news curators (copy and paste folks). Out of the 20 best bloggers as the title says, you will end up seeing only 4 or 5 that are real bloggers. This has become the order of the day and funny enough the real Nigerian bloggers (guys who use their think tank to work) end up writing this type of post as reviews on their blogs… At this moment in Nigeria, there should be a clear distinction between Nigerian blogs and that of news sites. At least, the long time and established bloggers be it tech, entertainment, entrepreneurship and so on should stand to advocate for what they have laboured to gain by frowning at such posts that promises a list of best Nigerian bloggers and end up publishing crap full of news syndicate sites, gossips and so on. What I have written may not have meaning to some people. But I do know that the whole concept of blogging centers on “adding value and solving problems” something which copy and paste sites have long thrown inside the sea. If you are true Nigerian blogger that wants the Nigerian blogsphere to gain strength and global respect, help in sharing this article or writing a similar one on your blog so we can together gain our grounds as proud Nigerian bloggers… Would love to hear from you in comments! Is 4th December today and the speculation of the Airtel BIS been blocked or stopped on non-BB devices like Android and others is still at large. I am one of the teeming population of Nigerian internet users who showed heavy concern over the text message which Airtel Nigeria sent on 30th November, 2013. The message reads thus: Dear Customer, effective 3rd Dec 2013 AIRTEL BB Plans will cease to function on non BB devices or used as a modem . Thank youMany users on getting this message lamented and with the fear of loosing their data bundles settled for exhausting their data bundles before the said date. As at 28th November, 2013 I was having close to 2GB on my Airtel line and also settled for exhausting the data before 3rd December. Time is going and it seems that Airtel is considering some subscribers who still have active data plan (I can’t really say for sure, but that’s what I am feeling right now!) At the moment I still have about 1.17GB left of my data bundle and I am still browsing with my Phantom A+ Android powered device as well tethering it with my PC and so far no sign of network blockage or disconnection. I pray things continue to go well like this, it will actually be a thing to reckon with! Are You Still Browsing with your Airtel BB plan on a non-BB device? Have you been disconnected? Let me hear from you at http://www.jarahub.com/2013/12/airtel-bis-still-working-on-android-non-bb-devices.html

Well the good news is that Windows has now built a software with an in-built screenshot capture, so you no longer need extra software to take screenshots on Windows 8. The image below shows the simple way to take screenshot on your windows 8 without any software. I decided to publish this article for two reasons, one to protect the image and integrity of the organization where I work and two to help alert the young Nigerian job seekers of the ongoing Nigeria Customs Recruitment job scams. Recently the Nigeria Customs Service announced that it has uncovered the activities of an illegal syndicate involved in the last recruitment exercise carried out by the service earlier this year. The discovery was made during a routine documentation exercise for newly recruited Officers conducted at the Customs Training College Ikeja. 44 officers were found to have found their way into the college through the back door. Further investigations into the saga however pointed to the direction of some insiders who provided soft ground for the illegal recruitment. 5 serving officers were rounded up for their active participation in the scam which involved extortion of various sums of money from prospective applicants and forgery of documents. The officers all serving at the Customs headquarters were subsequently handed over to the Economic and Financial Commission for further actions. Rather than dampening the spirit of the scammers, the exposure of their collaborators within seems to have made them go all out in their illegalities. Recently, one of such groups went back to the drawing board to perfect yet another strategy to dupe desperate work seekers, using numerous opportunities provided by the internet. Despite the fact the Service had concluded its recruitment exercise and even concluded training for the first batch of junior officers, the scammers are still busy soliciting applications from job seekers.
