These errors are very common with people on social media and it speaks a lot about one's understanding of English language. It also reveals how lazy, careless and negligent one can be. Correcting this error in 2016 is actually a step on the right path. The first one is using the word "common" instead of "come on". These 2 words mean 2 different things and shouldn't be used interchangeably. Common means occurring, found, or done often; prevalent. or could mean showing a lack of taste and refinement; vulgar. while "come on" is a phrase that could mean hurry up, buckle up, start... I guess you get the drill The 2nd is using "loose" instead of "lose". I see a lot of people use "loose" when they want to refer to a team being defeated. It is wrong. The right word to use when your team is defeated is "lose", while to untie something or make free of something is "loose" The 3rd is using the word "your" instead of "you're". Your is possessive. It is used when referring to a second person's attribute or possession i.e belonging to or associated with any person in general. For example "That is your bag" while You're is the same as "you are" and it is referring to a second person. An example is "You're very good at playing soccer". I hope we will start making efforts not to make this common mistakes in 2016. Happy New Year again everyone. This explains why Nigeria is not a country to succeed with Democracy, maybe if we were lucky to have had one good military ruler. But we weren't. It bothers me that we Nigerians cannot even run our country successfully. Just bunch of opportunists with the same school of thought that politics is the most thriving job in the land. I am not even sure if Nigeria will ever be great. Sobs |
Still waiting for the full outburst and reports of the happenings. Until then no conclusion should be arrived at. You can't just conclude, as none of the statements in defence of the accused has proven there was no rape. The bone of contention is "was she raped or not?". I believe with time both parties will bring forth enough details that will either prove so or otherwise. Until then I believe it is wise not to conclude as anyone could be a victim. Nothing can be as traumatic as a rape experience, as well as character slander is bad for the accused. I believe they both have enough in store to defend themselves. Fingers crossed till then. |

cramjones:This guy quoted above is the definition of a frustrated being. A sane person opened a thread while another sane fellow decided to contribute, but this guy quoted above decided to use that to spit out his frustration on a sane person with choice. Do you read what you write before you post. Did anyone ask for your opinion? How on earth did you pick just taxes in everything written. Because the Internet is a faceless platform does not give you any right to spew garbage. Smh for a mind like yours. Next time please keep your opinion to yourself and let it rot inside your frustrated mind. I chose to comment not to seek your foolish opinion. |
I will like to live in Nigeria again if I can get a job that pays as much. I reside in Canada and it is not as fun as back home. I miss family, the food, timing of EPL, LaLiga, friends, and work colleagues. It is hard to have real friends amongst work colleagues here as their background is so different. The taxes here are also crazy. It is hard to have any savings. I miss the beaches in Lagos plus the weather here is damn cold 9 months in a year. I'd rather come here for vacation than live here, but until that opportunity of going back home presents itself, seems I am stuck here. |

#UntilNigeriansGetSense Until Nigerians start seeing the fraudulently rich politicians and business men in the society as their enemies and start making life unbearable for them Until Nigerians stop seeing rich people as their gods and stop worshipping money Until Nigerians start believing that orderliness and cleanliness is actually the beginning of sanity Until Nigerians acknowledge the fact that their destiny is in their hands and not the international community or the recycled politicians Until Nigerians start believing that a fair and sane society is beneficial to one and all Until the Nigerian police start thinking straight and see the masses as who they serve and not their enemies Until Nigerians know the difference between hard work and success, and shortcuts and screw ups Until Nigerians can tell the difference between religious blindness and worshipping God in their hearts Until Nigerians put tribalism aside and focus on the goal at hand Until Nigerians start having a conscience and passing it on to the next generation Until Nigerians get practical education, believe in themselves, develop themselves, research and develop their society and not look to the west for validation in every single thing Until then will all these nonsense continue, don’t even come up with that saying that “Rome was not built in a day”, because Nigeria has been nose-diving since independence. Until Nigerians get sense Please add your own point starting it with “Until Nigerians” and let us sensitize ourselves and the people #Lalastica #Seun Please help move to front page |
noblezone:Thanks for the advice, I give up |
mayorall:My write up is not about what Access charged you, as Access bank is into business and they intend to make profit from every exchange. What my write up is all about is the drop in naira value as a result of the global drop in oil price. And to make a reasonable comparison, you must use the same basis to compare, which is what I did with both the Canadian dollar and the naira, just to drive home my point. The local exchange rate in Nigeria is what a lot of people refer to as the naira value, which is wrong, as commercial banks, and exchange merchants add their mark up so they can make profit from every exchange. Cheers |
mayorall:To calculate the naira equivalent to the dollar value I posted, all you needed to do was divide 1 by 0.005 which gives you 200 naira to a dollar as at 22nd April 2015. What you posted was the dollar equivalent of naira up until February 18th, the value I posted was at specific dates; value as at November 15, 2014, and value on April 22nd 2015. Please note that the value of every currency fluctuates every minute and you cannot assume that the value in February is the same as now. See the below link for the confirmation of my calculation (noting the effect of approximation). Thanks link: http://usd.fxexchangerate.com/ngn/100-currency-rates.html

realjoker:What do you mean? Can you explain? |
mayorall:I gave you the global exchange rate on the world market and not what local Nigerian bureau merchants sell the Us dollars at. You can check my rates on google |
imbless:Can you give reasons why the naira shouldn't fall? |
This is just a reminder to my fellow Nigerians that the fall in Naira is not the sole making of any Government but as a result of global Economics. To prove that, I have made a reference to the Canadian dollar, since Canada is also an Oil rich nation with their oil based in the province of Alberta. Below is the value of the US dollar to a Canadian $ on November 15 2014, and the value yesterday wednesday April 22, 2015 and the value of a Naira to a US dollar on the same dates. Saturday 15 November 2014 1 CAD = 0.88598 USD Wednesday 22 April 2015 1 CAD = 0.8180 USD Drop = 0.06798 Cents Saturday 15 November 2014 1 NGN = 0.00584 USD Wednesday 22 April 2015 1 NGN = 0.005 USD Drop = 0.00084 The Premier of the province of Alberta has increased the fuel tax from 9 cents per litre to 13 cents and increase in income taxes, health levy (newly introduced) and increase in sin taxes (taxes on alcohol and cigarettes) have also been introduced to kick in in 2016 tax year. These are all measures to buttress the budget deficit the province is going to see in 2015. Even though these countries are not similar in advancement and technology, it does not change the fact that the drop in oil price is affecting every nation with oil. For Accountants that know the meaning of hedging ( That is getting into a forward contract with a bank to receive a particular amount on a future date to prevent or avoid Foreign exchange loss), it is a very good thing to adopt in these interesting times. A good number of jobs have also been lost in the oil and gas companies in Alberta, as well as in the oil fields. The chain reaction is that the prices of houses are dropping by the day and day care/day home owners are experiencing withdrawal of kids since their parents no longer have jobs and it doesn't make sense to keep kids in the day care and pay between 700 dollars to 1000 dollar in a month. It is obviously a bad time to search for jobs in the Oil and gas sector in Alberta, as even the premier has called for ways in making the oil rich province a diversified economy rather than just rely on oil, they want to start looking into manufacturing. If you have more facts about countries feeling the impact, please add. Marc the Fan |

teemanbastos:That meant they were not virgins now.... |
drjoebond080:Are you speechless too |
Lmao, did you actually read that I beeped any virgin...Haba Teeman teemanbastos: |
I wish to share some experience with anyone who cares to read this. I will keep this very concise. I find it very challenging when I see guys going about with the idea that marrying a virgin automatically equates to a good and loving wife. While I find it very much attractive for girls to keep their virginity till marriage, guys should stop believing that every virgin out there is a good and virtuous lady. While I was in the university, I met 2 ladies at different times in my first year and while we were getting to know each other, they both made it known to me that they were virgins. We eventually made love and to enter their territories, I needed no entry visa as their gates were wide open. I realized that when some girls say they are virgins, they believe they have increased their wife material by 10 more yards. My third experience was with another lady while I was in my 3rd year, we became friends and got close, and when things started happening between us, she told me she had vowed to remain a virgin until her wedding night, but she gave head, and allowed her Bf to penetrate her from the a**s. I found this very interesting as she was a true virgin but probably worse than a non virgin. This then reminded me of what one of my female friends told me before I got into the university. She was friends with a gf of my friend, and I had told her how my male friend told me she was a virgin and he was the first to launch her *****. My female friend was so quick to laugh at me and my friend saying we both have been fooled. That the girl wasn't a virgin but because he knew my friend had no experience and was a virgin himself, she took advantage of him. Then a I argued and said, my friend told me he saw blood. She laughed even more and told me that, "don't I know the trick girls play, she said she must have allowed him to make love to her on the last day of her period just to deceive him". I was speechless. She was so sure and went on with proofs. I decided not to discuss virginity with any other lady after her as this topic has been over beaten and has been attached with too much importance in our society. After my service, I found that one of my friends who hardly kept one GF for 3 months had a steady relationship and kept singing to me that she was a virgin and because of that he was going to wife her. I was shocked at his reason since I felt he would have had better experience with ladies in the past. To cut my story short, the first day I actually saw the two of them together , she was raining abuses on him and cursing him, but after that my guy still went back just for that virginity reason. So my question would be this, would you rather marry a virgin and have no peace at home or just marry your non virgin and enjoy your life? Of course I couldn't discuss this with my friend as I do not interfere in relationships. Guys and Ladies, what do you think about this issue? |
I guess this is another sure way to hit Front page on Nairaland. Just write negative stories about dbanj and you are on front page. I guess some mods here hate the guy so much. |
It is so obvious who is more intelligent and eloquent of the 2 candidates. It is just sad that the better candidate isn't in APC. I lived in Lekki phase 1 and I passed through the toll gate at least twice a day, I mean the Lekki/Epe toll and every time I remember the hardship I pass through everyday to go through this toll, I feel bad. Don't you think Lagos needs change as well, after 16 years of APC. Well we all know that all odds are in favor of APC in the coming election; the sad but obvious truth. Wish things could be done differently without apparent greedy and selfish reasons. |
I understand your point about trying APC as an alternative, but I am not convinced that APC is different from PDP after all, most of their members defected from PDP. To be honest, I am not concerned about what party, I am more concerned about the candidate. I refuse to see any credible intent in the so called alternative. I am not a fan of Jonathan either but going by factual analysis, the underlying threats of presenting this candidate is more scary than the present situation. Please remember that 1 year is enough for a country to digress to worse days talk less of 4 years. I believe that not any change is required but the right change. The alternative doesn't appear to me as the right change. |
There is no point arguing or insulting each other. one man one vote, Feb 14 is 12 days away. My point is just that the percentage of Nigerians online is not up to 10 percent of the total population. About half of the 10 percent are Nigerians in diaspora that won't even vote, whereas some people have already made themselves winners judging by online votes. |
The same way people online hate Dbanj whereas he keeps selling out shows, will be the way Jonathan will win on February 14. You will think that going by the level of hate shown to him by Nairalanders and other blogs, that he will have an empty concert venue, but reverse is the case. In essence, people should stop deceiving themselves just because they have been paid a few thousands, online ratings do not mean actual votes. Nigeria does not start and end online. I want a better Nigeria, but I can't risk the alternative presented by the APC. |
HAHAHA, at new world order. Well most developed countries have Social security numbers or social insurance numbers. Just a similar idea gmacnoms: |
