Congratulation to the Baltimore Ravens for winning the AFC Championship and earning a trip to New Orleans for Super Bowl XLVII!!! A big shout-out to Ravens rookie and offensive tackle Kelechi Osemele and linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo as they take on the 49ers later today. Both Kelechi and Brendon are of Nigerian decent, Kelechi was born and raised in Houston Texas and joined the Ravens in 2012 while Brendon who has been with the Ravens since 2008 was born in Chicago to a Nigerian father and an American mother of Irish descent, so, congratulations guys! Amid speculations that John Mikel Obi may not be eligible to play for the Super Eagles in Sunday’s clash against the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire in the Qfinals of the Nations Cup, CAF listed Mikel to have received only a caution card in Eagles last group match against Ethiopia. Going by CAF’s rule, players who receive just one yellow card were allowed to play in subsequent matches as the caution is waved. Only those with two are ineligible. Egyptian referee, Ghead Grisha who presided over the Group C match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and defending champions Zambia on Friday has been dismissed from the on-going Nations Cup in South Africa. Victor Moses will debut in the Nations Cup tomorrow, the Nigerian winger is said to have recovered from the hamstring injury that kept him out of Monday's 1-1 draw with Burkina Faso. If picked for tomorrow’s game, Moses will most likely play alongside Chelsea FC teammate John Mikel Obi for the Super Eagles. While Nigeria, Ghana and current Nations Cup champions Zambia failed to gain any victory in their games yesterday Tunisia and Cote D’Ivorir seemed to have a different flow today as both teams came got off on a winning note in their games today. The Super Eagles of Nigeria were held to a 1-1 draw by Burkina Faso, Nations Cup debutant Ethiopia held defending champions Zambia to a 1-1 draw as well while Ghana faced the same plight in their match against DR Congo as both side ended up with 2 goals apiece. In a turn of events today, Ivory Coast - won 2-1 against Togo while Tunisia secured a 1-o victory against Algeria. Tunisia and Algeria headed into tonight's Group D clash knowing that the winners would join Ivory Coast at the top of the standings. The first-half of the match took a rather slow pace and despite Algeria’s efforts, an individual piece of brilliance from Youssef Msakni gave Tunisia a late 1-0 win and crucial three points.
