Nigeria and their change matter ![]() Photos making round on the internet have shown a bride wearing a really unbelievable piece of clothing on her wedding day. These photos have gone round social media leaving many people asking questions. The photos show a young lady on what is supposedly her wedding day. She is seen clad in a sack and what looks like a mosquito net while another woman who is thought to be the bridesmaid, walks beind her holding it up. Social media users have asked why on earth she would want to dress like that on her wedding day. Although the authenticity or even the venue of the event is not verified yet, popular opinion holds that the event is a wedding in a village in Northern Nigeria. It is believed that the woman had decided to go on with her marriage even without enough funding, hence the weird choice of a wedding gown. The inch-long scar on the neck of 53-year-old Mrs. Christiana Ashinwo, is one of the physical reminders of the horror of Sunday, April 24, 2016. She sat on a chair quietly in the sitting room of a house in Agbado area of Lagos, which she built with the sweat and suffering of many years as a single mother and plank vendor. Her head was bowed when our correspondent went to meet her. But when Mrs Ashinwo looked up, her eyes were glazed with a faraway look that would easily giveaway the fact that she could have witnessed trauma, great trauma that she obviously had yet to recover from. Who would blame her? Watching her daughter killed before her presence, is enough to give her chills every moment for the rest of her life. The horrific incident she witnessed and survived few months ago in Kwara State remains so fresh on her mind. Our correspondent had reported on April 30 how Mrs. Ashinwo and her daughter, 30-year-old Oluwatosin Ashinwo, an employee of MTN in Ilorin, Kwara State were attacked by a knife-wielding obsessed suitor of the young lady, 45-year-old David Ogundele. Mrs. Ashinwo survived the attack, her daughter didn’t. Mrs-Ashinwo The older woman’s injuries were no less extensive, as she spent many days in the emergency unit of a hospital in Ilorin as doctors battled to save her life. She would later spend another two months in the intensive care unit of the hospital. Our correspondent paid her a visit in Lagos, days after she was discharged and brought back home. With a very raspy voice and intermittent cough that came out with each word, one would conclude that all was still not well with the woman, who was left for dead in the pool of her own blood in Ilorin that fateful day. For her, the agony she feels with each morsel of food and gulp of liquid passing through her knife-damaged throat was nothing compared to the daily torment of thinking about how she lost her first child, breadwinner, and daughter. “I knelt down to beg my daughter’s killer as he held the knife that later took my daughter’s life. I thought kneeling would pacify him,” she said. The story Mrs. Ashinwo told was one of agony, climaxing at the moment she laid in a pool of her own blood and tried with every ounce of her waning strength to crawl to where her daughter laid lifeless. “I was dead; I don’t know why God brought me back. But I am sure I was dead that day. I tried to crawl and touch my daughter but my strength failed. I could see she was not breathing. There was blood everywhere; mine and my daughter’s,” she said. According to her, the day of the attack was the first time he would meet the killer, Ogundele. Mrs. Ashinwo said, “The first time we spoke, he called me and introduced himself as Engineer David. He told me he was my daughter’s friend and I should help him to appeal to my daughter to marry him. Scars-from-stabbing-on-Mrs.-Ashinwo’s-back “I was surprised but I told him that my daughter was a 30-year-old woman. She was free to make her own decision about who to marry. “He called again some weeks later and said he and my daughter had settled the issue. “The next time, he called, he was very angry. He said he had never been humiliated the way my daughter humiliated him. It was few days after my daughter’s birthday. He said he organised a birthday party for her and invited his friends and even bought a car as gift but she did not honour the invitation. “I did not know what to say. My daughter already had a car and already has someone else she wanted to marry. I told him not to be annoyed and forget about the issue since my daughter had made up her mind. “Prior to April 30, I started having some bad dreams about my daughter and became really concerned. I decided that it was time to go and check on her to know how she was doing. “On my way to Ilorin, the man (Ogundele) called again and said as soon as I get to Ilorin, he would come and pick me at the park. I said nothing. But since I did not even know him I went straight to my daughter’s place without calling him. “When I met my daughter, she took me to a woman, who seemed to be her confidante. We ate and the woman told me that my daughter had a fight with one man called Engineer David that day and the man threatened to kill her. “I did not waste time; I stood up and told her I must report to the police. But my daughter told me to let the matter go. She said I was just making a big issue out of a small matter. “She said that was why she did not like telling me some things some times. I let the matter go because I did not want to be like an overzealous mother.” But that was one decision that would haunt Mrs. Ashinwo every second of every day. The following day, Sunday April 30, without any hint about the danger that lurked in the shadow, she and her daughter had just got home from somewhere that day. As they entered Oluwatosin’s flat, Ogundele, who was said to be have been hiding around the flat, cornered them in the flat. Mrs. Ashinwo said, “He entered and locked the door behind him and put the key in his pocket. I had just finished bathing when my daughter called out to me that he was in the flat. I quickly dressed and prepared to meet the man that had been disturbing me so much with calls. When I saw him, I said ‘Good day, pleased to meet you’ and he replied that, ‘there is nothing good about today.’ “As soon as I saw him, I sighted the knife he was holding. I asked him what the problem was and he kept quiet. I did not understand what was happening. He was saying so many things I did not understand. I asked him if my daughter owed him anything. I promised to pay back everything. He said she did not owe him anything. He was just angry. “I told him that even if they offended each other, it should not be that bad that it would require the use of a knife. I told them they could still be friends. When I realised he had no intension of dropping the knife, I went down on my knees. I was begging him to drop the knife. Then, he came to where I knelt and carried me up. “Just when I thought the issue would end, he rushed at Tosin and held her down on the bed. He started stabbing her furiously. As my daughter screamed, I rushed at him. I could not just stand and he stared stabbing me too over the body.” By the time the attack was over, Mrs. Ashinwo had been stabbed at least 10 times in her torso, with the knife going through her throat in the As all became quiet in the room where the dying women lay, Ogundele, dropped his weapon, the bloody knife and locked his victims in the room,Saturday PUNCH learnt. Minutes went by as Mrs. Ashinwo tried to call out to her daughter who was bleeding from every parts of the body. She said she was so weak she could not even call out to her daughter who had become lifeless at that point. Lucky for her, she heard someone in a kitchen behind her daughter’s window. The woman said she used the last ounce of her strength to call the person, who later raised the alarm. By the time the door was broken down, it was too late for Oluwatosin. She was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. As Mrs. Ashinwo told this story, there was no doubt it was with tremendous agony as she relived the gory details. Saturday PUNCH had earlier reported that Ogundele was arrested in Osun on Saturday, May 14, after the police tracked him down with undercover agents. But Mrs. Ashinwo said the police have not even contacted her to give evidence. She said she could not understand why Ogundele has not been charged to court. The spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, Mr. Ajayi Okasanmi, said he did not have information about the prosecution of the suspect when our correspondent called him. He said he would call back to give update about the status of the case but had yet to do so as of the time of filing this report. source: http://jistadd..com.ng/2016/08/i-knelt-and-begged-him-yet-he.html

One Stephen Shut Jang has been arrested in Sabon Gari, Tudun Wada, Jos, Plateau State for butchering his girlfriend, Justina Dusu Chado, and her elder sister, Simi Dusu Chado, when the duo went to confront him about the pregnancy of Justina, back in July. Jang had allegedly been ignoring Justina’s calls ever since he got her pregnant, forcing her elder sister, Simi, to intervene by dragging her to his house to address the issue. When they got there, he told Simi to excuse them so that he could have a heart-to-heart talk with Justina. After Simi stepped out, he locked the door and started using a machete on Justina, while kicking her stomach. Justina started shouting for help and Simi came knocking, begging him to open the door, but he refused. She had to break the door to enter the room. Immediately she entered, he turned on her and started butchering her with the same machete while Justina laid helplessly on the floor. Help finally came, but it was too late for Simi, as she eventually died. Confirming the incident, the Plateau State Police P.R.O, Tyopev Mathias Terna, assured that investigation into the matter was ongoing, adding that the case would soon be transferred to the State CID, for further investigation and Jang would be charged to court as soon as possible. HOW BIG IS YOUR FAITH May i receive a double portion of your spirit (2kings 2:9) Daily Reflection Elijah had a vocation and ministry that none of his generation could match. He was generally known as a prophet of God. His ministry majored on the manifestation of the power of God. To have received half of his spirit and ministry was already a great thing by Elijah. But Elisha was not satisfied with just a part of Elijahs spirit or even the full spirit of Elijah. What he wanted was a double portion of Elijah spirit. It seemed that Elisha was erratic in his desire. Even Elijah told him, "You have asked something that is not easy. Still, if you see me taken up from you, your wish will be granted". God did not rebuke Elisha for his big request. The boldness and faith of Elisha enabled him to pursue the conditions for receiving what he asked. With this ,i can easily conclude that no request is too much for God to grant. God cant be embarrassed by the size of your request,no matter how big. What Elisha asked for was difficult but God is a master of difficult cases. If you are willing to go all the way with God he will bless your life with his power and glory. The request of Elisha shows how much faith he had in God. If you want to know the size of a persons faith, check their request. God has no problem fulfilling our big requests. He does not have a problem with how big they are. If we have the amount of faith needed to receive the request,it is granted. There is no amount of faith needed for any miracle to take place. If you are asking God for anything, what he is looking out for is your faith. How is your faith? What amount of faith do you have that you will receive your request? 1 Kings 17:3-4 King James Version (KJV) Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan. And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there. DAILY DEVOTIONAL Daily reflections The Lord has proven that he will never abandon us. The extent you cling to God is the extent you will hang on him. The more faith you have in God, the more miracles will come. Don't lose your trust in God because the more you trust him,the more he will respond to you. He said in the book of 1kings 17:1-6(The more you trust God,the more God will respond to you). When the king of Israel in the Bible apostatized and brought Baal into Isreal in place of God and made the people to worship Ball, the Lord sent Elijah to declare that there will be no more rain in the land and he did so and when he finished the annocement.God said to him, 'leave here, turn eastward and hind in the Kerith Ravine, easT of Jordan. "You will drink from the brook and I have ordered the Ravens to feed you there"(1kings17:3-4) Don't forget this "When God gives you a command he already made a provision for you. There are times that the command might be so hard for you to do and in the eyes of men,it seems impossible and not logical. All you need at that moment is to put faith in God and trust him. if God can provide for Elijah with a bird called Raven, he can also provide for you. The Federal Government Of Nigeria on Thursday scrapped the conduct of post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) or Pume as wildly called for candidates seeking admission into higher institution. The government explained that all tertiary institutions were at liberty to conduct screening for candidates seeking admission into any school. The Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, said this on Thursday in Abuja after declaring open the 2016 Combined Policy Meeting on Admissions to Universities, Polytechnics and other higher institutions in Nigeria. Adamu, expressed confidence in the examination conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), adding that there was no need for other examination to be conducted by universities after JAMB. He said: “As far as I am concerned the nation has confidence in what JAMB is doing. The universities should not be holding another examination and if the universities have any complain against JAMB let them bring it and then we address it. “If JAMB is qualified enough to conduct tests and they have conducted test then there will be no need to conduct another test for students to gain admission.” The Minister also asked the JAMB to stop extra charges on several categories of changes on admissions such as the change of course, change of school and others. Meanwhile, the JAMB has pegged the cut – off mark for admission for 2016 at 180. source: http://jistadd..com.ng/2016/06/the-federal-government-of-nigeria.html |

ARISE AND SHINE Luke 7:14 King James Version (KJV) And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise. Daily Reflection Today's reading is all about resurrection, how people where raised from the dead. Elijah raised the son of a widow in Zeraphath while Jesus raised the sun of a widow in a place called Nain. Jesus used the word 'ARISE' during his healing section in Nain. Arise is a great word that can be used to lift those in despair, those in burden, those that have lost hope and those who have lost faith in God. The prodigal son in the Bible, when he lost hope and was left with nothing. He said I will arise and go back to my father. You can also speak that word in your life right now, you have been involved in many sinful ways that you think God can't forgive you. This is the time for you to arise and go back to your father. No matter any difficult situation you are in right now, you can arise and go back to your father. Even if the enemies have succeeded in putting you down, you can arise right now and shine, even if your business have collapsed, you can arise right now and be the best. Don't give up hope, there is always a way Prayer quotes A desire becomes a hope when we discover a reason for its expectation and there is no better reason to expect something than a promise given in the Word of God. Daily reflection: Today is a day that we celebrate the immaculate heart of Mary,it comes after the feast of the sacred Heart of Jesus. This shows the closeness of Mary's heart to the heart of Jesus. The feast reminds us of the way Virgin Mary lived her life, the joy,the sorrows, the drive and the hidden passion. When she was visited by Angel Gabriel her response was "let it be done to me according to your word" because of the love she had for God's will. She was made to suffer in agony due to the death of his son Jesus but she accepted the faith because of God's love. Due to the love she also have for the world, she revealed how she wished that nations be consecrated to her immaculate heart which lead to the practice of devotion to the immaculate heart of Mary which started on 1855, ever since that time the practice has become part of the Catholic Church. Christians are advised to imitate her. Our daily devotional today would move us to make amends for offending our holy mother ( Virgin Mary) and ask for her mercy so that she can bring us at peace with her son Jesus an try our possible best to emulate her way of life and be free from all sins. What is fish farming ? fish farming can be described as a system of farming in which fishes are breed in an enclosure or tanks for commercial purposes.it can be in small scale fish farming or in large scale fish farming. Many of you will be wondering on how they can start a fish farm successfully. This post will take you through a rundown process on how you can start a fish farm. The fish specie we will be considering in this post is a cat fish. The key things you need to know in fish farming is how to hatch ( spawning) , how to manage it and the feed formulation Firstly, learn how to hatch a fish or buy juvenile, if you have never started hatching on your own,it will take a long time before you make it big in fish farming.so carefully build your own hatching ponds and with what you learnt you gave it a shot and after successful done, You nurture them to fingerlings stage Selected the best fingerlings for stocking for the next 5 months and sell the rest. This is is one aspect for the failure of fish farmers. Most hatchery selects the best (shooters)for themselves and sell runts to farmers, And we constantly feed these runts without attaining a reasonable wieght thereby loosing our hard earned money and waste our precious time.. IDENTIFYING RUNTS AS FINGERLINGS If u still buy fingerlings from other farms please my brother follow the guidelines below so your investment does not go down the drain.. 1. Only buy fingerlings from recommended farms, especially those who specialise in the production of fingerlings and juvenile. 2. Runts head seems to be whitish in colour, their body is thinner and is not proportionate in size to the head, they are like unfed children. 3. Buy fingerlings or juveniles only from farms who use male and female fishes (brood stock) equal to or above 1.5kg. HOW TO STOCK YOUR FISH IN FISH FARMING Before you stock the pond you disinfect it with "BLAGDON ANTI FUNGI AND BACTERIA" by doing this you have cleared the pond against any fungi or bacteria present in the pond. Sometimes you may stock and after a while they will start dieing due to an outbreak of disease present in the pond, so I advice all farmers to disinfect there pond using the drugs mentioned above. After two weeks of stocking you start to sort them into sizes Big, medium and small. Sorting is one essential activity u MUST do to save your investment. If you don't sort only less than half of your fish will grow well and be ready for sale when most should be ready.. This is because its only the big and aggressive ones that will be eating most of the time and they are usually less than half of the entire stock you have in the pond. But when you sort regularly most of the fishes will be of regular size and they can compete with themselves for food. So they can all grow at the same pace. PLEASE DONT TAKE SORTING LIKELY.. One other thing that makes us loose money is overstocking of your pond. Your fishes will not grow. Because the water gets polluted easily and this will cause the dissolved oxygen to be depleted in the water. And when this takes place the fishes wont eat well their appetite for food will be lost.. So I guess a farmer should measure his pond well before stocking. FEEDING YOUR FISH IN FISH FARMING You know feeding takes 70% of the total cost and there are no cut corners in feeding your fish.I tell farmers that "What you give to them that's what they will become" and that's a fact. I have seen farmers that give their fishes garri and expect them to gain enough weight, and its no surprise when they sell at a loss.. As long as you have right fish (like shooteers) and you sort and don't over stock, you can go ahead and feed them very well. Let me tell u one deep truth when u stock the right fish(shooters) they can even eat less and yet grow bigger. ALSO READ: Irrigation Farming Addressed By the New Government Now there are all sort of feeds available in the market from coppens, durante, multifeed, zeigler, aqua feed, ranan, vital feed etc. When I started back then I was using coppens and there was a time I even bought a fake one (coppens) but for some time now I have been using zeigler and I must say that I prefer zeigler to coppens. I know most farmers will be raising eyebrow now but that's a pure fact. Infact I had a client that sells vale viva feed back then the company did an experiment of coppens, zeigler, multi feed and durante, she told me that ziegler came out top,but I wasn't suprised because I had done my own finding too. I find zeigler to be the best feed after using it. Now if you don't feed your fish regularly they will not grow. And you should know the size of feed you give to them at the right time. Feeding should be three times a day but at the third month feed them twice a day while ate the last month u full feed once a day. At the third month farmers tend to switch to local feed and they sort for a good local feed. Back then I used local feed, I had a good combination but I found out that most of the ingredient are adulterated, especially the fish meal and fish meal is the main ingredient to produce a good feed and for rapid growth. Some farmers include blood meal but I bet that majority of the so called blood meal are not, they are sometimes burnt tyre.I know right now you may be wandering but yes that's the truth, thats why i stopped using local feeds. I deviced a method that after three month I switch to VITAL feed. If you compare the cost of vital feed and the local feed we spend time and energy on, its not that big. And truthfully vital feed is not an imported feed it is made here in Nigeria so to me vital feed is also a local feed. Some farmers may say we do local feed to reduce cost and I laugh at their ignorance. It is better to go straight to the point than cutting corners and whereby you may still be cheated on the local feed. When you have a good fish its better you feed them with quality to harvest quality. CHANGING YOUR WATER IN FISH FARMING I have been to farms where the water is so polluted and stinks. I wonder how such farmers reason. Its just like putting 20 people in a single room and you shut the door and window what do u think will happen over time. ALSO READ: Best Agriculture Farm to Establish In Nigeria If u don't change the water as at when due the environment of the fishes will be too polluted to encourage good feeding. The fishes urine, feaces and dissolved excess feed, pollute the water and they wont eat well or digest the food because of polluted environment. MARKETING YOUR CATFISH IN FISH FARMING At the fourth month fishes must have attained an average of 1kg and 0.9 kg. You start contacting buyers and eatries and joints. Some farmers wait till harvest before they con tact buyers and this is wrong because when the time of harvest has elapsed they keep feeding the fish and some may have depleted their money to feed the fished thereby allowing the fish to loose weight. FISH FARMING IS A GOOD AND PROFITABLE BUSINESS TO VENTURE IN https://surescholarship.com |
