#wevoteourchoice2019......there is no chosen generation that will fix our issues, there is only you and I present right now in the face of the issues dat face us. There is you and I that's making up the idea of the democracy that we are a part of. For too long we have let the old generation dictate the play, for too long we have laid dormant whilst allowing the affairs of our countries be run by people with a myopic view of how things should be done. We all are leaders in this system of government, and taking responsibilities of the affairs of the country is a duty that we wall are all crowned with. I implore everyone of us to take up dis mantle, and do justice that is required of us. I believe in you and I and in the ability for us to make things right by actively being involved........#wevoteourchoice2019. |
Hello everyone, as a follow up on my last post, this post is directed towards shedding a good light as to questions that bug us about electricity in our areas. 1.Why can't we have 24hrs light? At the moment, this is a practically impossible feet as long as you are connected to the national grid. This is because the amount of electricity generated in the country as of today is not enough to serve the whole population. As a result of this, the quantity generated is shared amongst all discos(distribution companies) across the country. Until such a time that the amount of Electricity generated is enough to serve the country's population, we are stuck with 3-6-9-12hrs of light per day, depending on how viable an area is. 2.Why do I keep on getting estimated bills? This is an issue i'm sure is very irritable as no one likes to pay much more than he's suppose to for services rendered. The reality to the issue is that this affects customers registered on the network that do not have meters in their premises, or have meters but are not functioning. At the moment, without any means by which the power usage in a premises that falls into this category can be measured, after customer's who have functioning meters have been billed accurately, the remaining amount of money due is shared amongst every unmetered customer in the area. Yes, I know this is not the best way to go about it, but then the reason is this. Like the term "Credit Meter"implies, the power used in a month of January is actually used on credit and is only made available because it has already been paid for by the respective discos available in your locality. You are then billed at the beginning of February, for the power you used during the month of January. (take a min and let that sink in for betr understanding.) Now i'm sure we all understand that no one is willing to make a loss on their business, hence the companies have to find a way to balance its account and hence every one that falls into a certain tariff classification is billed equally. Hopefully, in the near future a better way of handling such issues will come up, but at the moment, this is the best way forward. 3. Why do I keep getting billed even after my premises has been disconnected? Customers who tend to have issues like this are customers who have metering issues like their meter not working properly or have no meter at all in their premises. As a result of this, first of; there is no accurate way of telling that such customer would not reconnect himself and/or even know that the customer has even been disconnected. The remedy to this is to apply for "temporal closure" on your bill. This can be done in person or through the marketer's. My advice, do it yourself. After this is done the bill will stop coming fort until the premises is disconnected. 4. Why is the voltage in my house low? This happens as a result of Load imbalance, simply put, the line on which you are connected in overloaded thereby causing the voltage to drop. The remedy to this is to call the attention of the nearest service centre in your area, so the technicians can put a handle on it if there are other issues, I would answer them as best as possible. |
Hello Everyone, the purpose of this post is to educate the public on what is realistically going on in the power industry at the moment. There's no need to sugarcoat how disappointing the power industry has been, from the early days of Nepa, while it was being run by the government. As it stands, I think there's a drag between who is most hated between the power providing industry and the police force. But then, i would like to shed light on exactly how things are being run at the moment, so everyone who reads this will be able to understand the industry better. At the moment the power industry is divided into three parts namely; Gencos (generation companies), Transmission Company and the Discos (Distribution Companies). The Gencos and the Discos are under the private sector while the transmission is still run by the government. In more simple terms, people with a little more privilege like you and I run the Gencos and the Discos. As a result of which, they are companies that are literally into the production of service from which they expect to make profit. How it works is that the Gencos generate electricity, sell through the transmission Company to the Discos who finally sell to the consumers. The Discos are the arm of the chain that we all are more familiar with ranging from "Ikeja electric (I.e), Ibadan electric distribution company (Ibedc), Benin Electricity Distribution Company (Bedc), e.t.c. They are all located all around the country. At the moment each disco get its due share from the power grid and they all differ in size with Ikeja and Eko discos having the largest share of what comes from the grid. I guess we can all imagine why its so. The reality of the situation is that the progress of electricity in our immediate environment now lies in our hands. The reason is because you are served with what you pay for, and there are direct consequences on everyone of us when things like Energy theft is being allowed to run free. I would like to talk more on this but that would be at a later date. I would like to encourage us all to know that considering the fact that at the moment there are no alternate sources of power that are as cheap as that which is being provided by the discos, i'm sure we all will like to at the least get maximum satisfaction for what we are billed. It is therefore the responsibility of we all whether a disco staff or not to be prompt at making payments so as to ensure the best possible service that can be made available at the moment be continuous until. This post is not designed to appeal to your sensitive parts about the industry but to help you understand how things are being done at the moment. I will be putting up more posts to address other issues that we all have a hard time understanding. Oga lalasticlala, I hope u kindly get this to the front page as i'm sure every Nigerian would like to understand better the power industry. |
Truth is as much as the reason behind the agitation makes sense, Nnamdi KANU is not the person to lead this movement, too much hate and bias for him to actually do this the right way. |
