I don't think whatsapp was the problem with the phone. That he's installing whatsapp when the phone died doesn't make it the culprit. It could have died when phone is idle

Good morning. I am not sure umi or the seller would want to spend that much on dhl, most especially express service. And lest I forget, tell them to install whatsapp on the replacement phone, incase umi goes such route

The umi z pro, looks like a phone that can easily sell for $800 (hence my fascination)

Imagine such expectation, hoping to flex with your new device. I just hope you settle this stuff real fast. What they will try to tell you is what you are already doing, like change your charge, change cord, charge for like 20 minute and on it, reset and so on. As you already know, no cause any physical damage, because that na deal breaker. Just video am as they tell you and pack am for return. I know they would love to offer you another one. The question now be, you go take the risk of accepting same model of phone or go for another model or make?

The purchased extra cable no go waste nah. Almost all android devices launched, are now using TYPE C. The only way to prove device is actually dead, is by obliging all their test.
If they have a local test centre, i am happy to send to them.

I am not only talking of the money, but the time, stress and all that. Instead of you enjoying your device, you are engage on solving a problem. That is not cool.

Ok, have you tried to hold up and down volume keys with power keys for like 20 seconds. You can try it multiple times, according to some users opinion.

This time make sure you make more enquiry, but I trust Oneplus. That device would be a monster.
Nevertheless have you tried this method.
When the device won’t stop rebooting
Here’s what to do if the device wont stop rebooting.
Step 1: Turn off the device and then reboot in recovery mode.
Step 2: Go to “Advanced” which will bring up a number of options to choose from.
Step 3: One of the options should be “Wipe Dalvik cache” select this option and then follow the instructions. When finished select “Go Back” to return to the main menu.
Step 4: Go to the “Wipe Cache Partition” and select it.
Step 5: Go to “Wipe data/ factory reset.”
Step 6: Finally reboot the device by selecting “Reboot system now.” This should fix the problem.

They have not still said anything. Still awaiting their response on paypal. They sent me a reply via ebay, asking me to reset device(this umi is probably already tired of me trying to reset it).......
Maybe umi thinks I am a smartphone novice .........

That is how companies behave, they don't want to incur any debt. They would exhaust the whole options before accepting the device back. I believe if you persist on the issue they will agree, such amount is big to let go like that.

Done all that yesterday, no luck. Umi did not test this phones prior to resuming sales .........

So sad to hear, i think the best option is to return it then.

I Bought this phone, hot 4 X557 on last friday for 44k, to say the truth i'm not happy with its performance. The main reason y i chose to buy this device is because of its battery, still it doesn't last more than 3hrs, its slow in charging, and the most annoying thing is that it hangs alot, sometimes everything will just seize and be very hot.

Seriously I regret buying it. i'm not enjoying it at all. Maybe they sold the fake one for me, i don't Know but i feel like smashing the phone.

Sad to hear. I think you should return it immediately, you must have gotten the fake. Be careful when buying phones, there are lots of fake one out there. Remember i warned you about buying fake hot 4. Hope it came with warranty from a reputable store.

For d record my redmi note 4 had same problem of hardbricking after chatting on WhatsApp!

Were you able to unbrick it? If yes, kindly give us the procedure, it might be of help to people.

Have you try to reset the phone by pressing power and volume key? Do that and let see if it will come on. Eventually it comes on, try to install whatsapp again. But do not void any warranty while doing so. I await a good news from you.

I have bought a few items based on Flossy's reviews, and I have not yet been disappointed.
He recommended the bluedio vinyl, I ended up buying two of the bluedio vinyl headphones.
Some things he reviews are way too expensive and not necessarily required, so I just enjoy the reviews.
But all things said, Floss does give honest reviews.....

You should get it at that price. Try buying from a reputable store, so as to get the original and also get warranty.
