@afam4eva.I feel you,it is simple, such landlord had been to hell and back in the hand's of some Igbo tenant's in the past hence the question"you be Igbo person"?they allow this to becloud their sense of reasoning and proceed to regard all Igbo people as troublesome,this is not true,for troublesome people abound in all tribe and race.
Same goes for landlord's who don't want to see Indian's near their house,their reason is not far fetched,most Indian's use and leave apartment's like though they have some grievances with the apartment or landlord.if you are unlucky to be the next tenant moving in after an Indian exit such apartment,you will not want them near your property ever again.
Some non yoruba landlord don't want yoruba people near their property,they believe most yoruba tenant's don't maintain apartment's well.
Many lawyer's who are landlord's don't want lawyer's near their house,they believe most lawyer's are trouble some,alway's claim to know too much and will not hesitate to go to court.
They all have their reason's and if you allow them interpret it to you the way it all"went down"you can't help but reason with them or leave them to their set way's.
As my fellow poster noted;if government set out to honestly build certain unit's of apartment in each locality,this issue of not enough house's will be a thing of the past and that singular act will force rent due's to nose dive to the delight of tenant's.the issue of Lagos state government seeing land here as their own oil n gas and therefore creating huge developement levie's is bad,the staff's at land's making everything cumbersome so the prospective developer pay's more is another big issue;all these drive up house rent.
Should you be reading this and a landlord,please understand that issue's of been dirty,troublesome and conny are not tribal but individual,allow all to have an equal go at the property.
To you,yes you;the prospective tenant that think you are smart and want to short change the agent at every turn instead of bringing him or her to your page,stop it as you are only going to fuel their distrust for the next tenant.they make the next tenant pay in most case's.
To fellow realtor's that treat every transaction like it will be the last;please stop acting that way and be considerate to the tenant,most of us are tenant's too.

At y'al ready to roast the agent/realtor/valuer/surveyor,know one thing;many tenant have moved in apartment's after agent makes  landlord accept one year,when the other year come's they tell the landlord stories of how mungo park survived the fall and proceeded to live happy ever after with the 9ja woman he married.
Contrary to what most of you have your mind's made up on,that agent's and landlord's are evil peep's,many landlord's that are compasionate fell"mugu" for con tenant's who will proceed to give the landlord much trouble for three to four month's of rent free period;many landlord's end up been at the end of the wicked trapping of such tenant's begging them to pls leave their house alone,my friend in the UK received the bashing of her life when a fellow 9jirian and a lawyer who was her tenant took her and her sister to court and got away with damage claim's and many other goodie's cos her sister deleted the message she sent to their tenant five month's before the guy went to court(that coulda been the only evidence that woulda nailed him) after living rent free for almost five month's,this was a fellow these ladies trusted completely;she has swore never to take any 9jirian as tenant ever again.
The moral of the story:there are bad landlord's,agent's and tenant's.open your eye's a lil wider during transaction's regarding rent and listen hard.
I for one have lost much money to tenant's;too many case's,I have helped a client of mine plead with a landlord I happened to know and he reduced the rent another estate firm advertised for 4.7m to 4m per annum,took this married man to the landlord and immediately he had the landlord's contact,he no longer call's me,he was bent on not paying me my well deserved fee,I had to behave in an ungentlemanly way to extract 200k out of the money from him,all becourse of what?cos he know's the landlord' place.those who have dealt through me from nairaland know how much I try to get them one year rent,my reward?you will laugh,one even have the nerve to tell me that I didn"t remind her that she will pay me fee separate from the rent after I got on the caretaker's hair to accept one year rent from her cos she complained of not having much money,I handed her over to the caretaker who was my friend,she did not pay a dime as fee,a year has passed.all these becourse I make thing's easy for my client's and trust them to protect my interest as I protected their's,you know the truth?trust no one when it come's to money issue's,peep's who are smooth and sweet talking suddenly become rampaging wild animal's who will stop at nothing to keep all the money for themselve's.landlord'o,agent'o,tenant'o,all join!
Even today I still helped someone from nairaland secure a year's rent at oniru,not the bungalow'o.
When you peep's speak,make una know say badt people yapa for outside'o.
