Update:- Camp hold on Feb or March

On NYSC the president wrote: “The provision for NYSC in the 2016 budget is inadequate to cater for the number of corpers to be mobilised this year. In fact, an additional N8.5bn is required to cover the backlog of 129, 469 corps members who are currently due for call-up, but would otherwise be left out till next year due to funding constraints.”

Travel / Arik Air Staff Beg Passengers For Money, work In Terrible Conditions by Jamez122: 7:43am On Oct 22, 2016
The staff of Arik Air, which once advertised itself as Nigeria's biggest airline, have been reduced to panhandling from passengers, as they are being owed a backlog of salaries. In addition to not being paid, the staff are working under horrible conditions similar to what obtains in slave camps.

Sources in the aviation company told SaharaReporters that the Chairman, Johnson Arumemi-Ikhide, has been terrorizing staff and sacking them arbitrarily. He is said to have studiously avoided discussing with staff on how to pay salaries, which stretch back to July.
The Chairman, sources added, is more concerned about activities lined up for the airline's 10th anniversary.
He is said to sack staff on mere hearsay or text messages sent to him by traitorous staff desperate to do their colleagues in. Those involved function as spies, who invent allegations of wrongdoing and pass them on to the Chairman.
Last week, a female staff, Julia, was sacked for calling one of Arumemi-Ikhide's spies "Chairman's baby."
He also suspended another staff for braiding her hair. In August, he sacked one Captain Obot because he refused to fly, having not being paid for two months.
At the Murtala Mohammed International Airport said company sources, staff have had to board passengers in darkness. While the staff of other airlines have internet facilities, Arik staff, airport sources said, are forced to personally provide internet facilities for the company's use.
"The situation has turned many of us into corporate beggars. We rely on passengers for crumbs to feed and cater for our family. Our aircraft cannot be regarded as safe because pilots are traumatized by not being paid," said a staff.
She added that the company has not reviewed salaries in over seven years. Staff pensions and taxes, she added, are not remitted.
Also, the staff disclosed that Arik owes insurers and all types of suppliers and vendors.
Some of its cabin crew members, said another source, have been locked out of hotel rooms due to the airline's inability to pay. Sim slots for pilots, he further said, are canceled because the airline cannot make payments for the simulator.
The airline is also a place of industrial apartheid. Its expatriate staff, who do exactly what Nigerians are doing, to routinely recycle meals that should be thrown away are paid in dollars and usually seven times the amount Nigerians earn. The security department is said to have two different salary grades for graduate staff.
"We don't have work tools. We buy our own rain boots, torchlight and pregnant security staff sleep on the tarmac for night duty.
"We even pay for our uniforms. The last time Arik Air gave us clothes was seven years ago," an angry staff said.
Another issue with the airline is that it recycles meals that should be routinely thrown away, our source said.
"If meals are not eaten on the plane, they are put back in the freezer for another time. This can lead to food poisoning," said a catering department staff.
Many members of staff disclosed that they are currently being overworked and under enormous pressure.
One of them told this medium that some staff were sacked for registering as members of one of the aviation workers' unions. He explained that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) is aware of what is happening in Arik but turning a blind eye.
The Managing Director, Mr. Chris Ndulue, his deputy, Captain Ado Sanusi, and Chief Pilot are said to be too timid to confront the chairman.

Crime / Mob Hacks, Burns 14 Herdsmen In Kaduna by Jamez122: 7:52pm On Oct 17, 2016
A mob has attacked Fulani herdsmen in Nigeria’s restive middle-belt with an eyewitness saying Monday that fourteen people were “hacked and burnt” to death over the weekend.
The long-running battle between the nomadic Fulani herdsmen and farmers for land represents a major Nigerian battleground that is often overlooked but no less violent than the northeastern Boko Haram insurgency or the Niger delta uprising in the south.
“I was returning from Plateau state with eight passengers, all of them Fulani herders,” commercial bus driver Adamu Aliyu told AFP.
Aliyu said his bus broke down in Kaduna state, so he left it to go search for a mechanic.
“While I was away a mob surrounded the vehicle and forcibly brought out the eight passengers. They hacked them to death, dumped them in the vehicle and set it ablaze,” Aliyu said.
“Another vehicle was also attacked when it stopped to refuel and all the six people were burnt to death along with the car.”
Aliyu said a riot broke out in the streets, with soldiers and police finally intervening to contain the carnage.
“When the situation calmed I returned to my vehicle and found its burnt carcass with charred remains of the passengers,” Aliyu said.
Jema’a local government chairman Bege Katuka said the area had been thrown into chaos with “indiscriminate” shooting the night before.

Politics / 24hour Curfew Imposed In Kaduna LGA As Alleged Herdsmen Kill 20 by Jamez122: 6:56pm On Oct 16, 2016
By Luka Binniyat

KADUNA – Alleged armed herdsmen between Saturday and Sunday killed not less than 20 persons after they lay a surprise siege on Godogodo, a semi-urban settlement, in Jema’a Local Government Area, LGA, of Kaduna State as at the time of going to press.
The police and escapees said Godogodo was razed down with a tentative casualty figure of 20, apart from the injured.

The gory incident was said to have heightened tension between the majority Christian population of Kafanchan, about 12 km, north of Godogodo, and its minority settler population of Hausa/Fulani Muslims.
The Interim Management Committee, IMC, Chairman, of Jema’a LGA, Dr. Humble Katuka, acting on mitigating measures, Sunday slammed a 24-hour curfew on the LGA.
Kafanchan is the Headquarters of Jema’a LGA, about 250 km South of Kaduna metropolis and also the commercial and socio-political hub of Southern Kaduna.

Education / Waec:- A Cry For Justice For Anita by Jamez122: 7:47pm On Oct 14, 2016
This is wrong!...what is she supposed to do now? Please if you know anyone that can help send this to them and lets find out what really happened

Good day Nairalanders,,my name is Anita meme and an ardent reader of your blog and I comment as anniemem.
I have a serious issue at hand in fact it's a matter that can kill me,please take out time to read cause I seek justice.i wrote WAEC in 2008 and I collected my original WAEC certificate in 2011 which I used to secure admission in the same 2011(benue State University makurdi) to study sociology.
I had five credits that includes mathematics and English which were a requirement for my admission.i had just graduated and was set for NYSC but Just two days ago, I came to school for my final clearance and to my greatest surprise, my school handed me a letter of expulsion, reasons being that English language in my WAEC result has been cancelled.

I was shocked and I almost died.
I immediately bought WAEC scratch card and checked online myself and truly my English language which has been C6 all these years ( the original certificate is with me) has mysteriously been cancelled.
The question now is how can WAEC cancel my result that they have already awarded me a certificate for and don't even deem it necessary to inform me. I am sending you this message so you can help me seek justice because WAEC is about to ruin my life, the whole of my four years in the university is at stake now. I have gone to WAEC office in Makurdi and they asked me to go to the headquarters in Lagos to complain.
I will attach a picture of my original WAEC certificate to this mail and a copy of the new alteration made by WAEC and the expulsion letter that I was given.

If you think you can help Anita, her email is anitameme2013@gmail.com

Politics / President Buhari Barrs Aisha Buhari From Granting Interviews by Jamez122: 7:35am On Oct 13, 2016
– Aisha Buhari’s interview with BBC is expected to be aired in afe days but the presidency has stepped in

– President Buhari asked the BBC not to air the interview due to some things the first lady said

– He also barred Aisha from granting further interview

President Muhammadu Buhari has started mounting pressure on the BBC Hausa Service not to air the full interview of Aisha Buhari.
Excerpts of the interview were published on Tuesday, October 11and in it, the first lady made some comments that’s has caught the attention of Nigerians.
In the interview, Aisha said the people who worked for her husband to become the president have been side-lined while some people have taken over his government.
“This worries us a lot now. Because they believe they are the ones who suffered, but are no where today. Those who didn’t do anything who don’t even have voters’ cards are the ones in position, doing everything.”
“What I am afraid for them is the rebellion of 15 million people.”

According to Sahara Reporters, the President Buhari kitchen cabinet has reached out to the BBC not to air the full interview as it is suspected that the first lady might have said more damaging things.
Aisha and some members of the All Progressives Congress are frustrated especially due to the influence wielded by Abba Kyari, who is the chief of staff of the president.
It was reported that minister sometimes have to get the approval of Kyari and Mamman Daura before funds can be released to them.

The president has also failed to make some of the changes he promised to make in his cabinet including the sanctioning of Babachir Lawal who has been accused of corrupt practices.
Meanwhile, President Buhari has vowed not to spare anyone who is corrupt and insist his children be investigated by the EFCC is suspected of corruption.
