From my own experience, I believe the first thing to do for anybody that want to go into Pure Water business is to first dig a borehole in the premise of the factory he plan to use and do the water analysis. This is important because it guide you on the likely cost you are going to incur in buying equipment for the business. For example if your water has high level of salinity and it is also hard, you will need a reverse osmosis. Reverse osmosis is expensive compare with other equipment you need to start Pure Water business.

I have been trying to set up a Pure Water business since 2012 but I haven't been able to set it up because I have no money to buy Reverse osmosis. The water from my borehole has iron, the salinity is high and the water is hard. It is only Reverse osmosis that can treat this kind of water. So I advise that before you do anything, first dig a borehole.

boriswole: The truth is that it depends on what you intend to get out of the borehole,i mean quality and quantity of water,

the problem with Victoria island and lekki peninsula in general is that most shallow wells will give low yield and it will be salty to a degree, now if can remember some chemistry, it is damn difficult to remove salt from water, so there goes the boreholes that people drill for about 200k, you may just be lucky to get good water out of these, (very unlikely)

the usual solution is to go deeper and seal the salty region off with clay. sometimes as deep as 240 metres. (this will cost up to N5m for a 6" borehole, can be less for a smaller diameter borehole if the borehole will only be used domestically, can be more.

at this depth, the only problem will be the possibility of iron deposits, this can be removed by exposing the water to air(aeration) to form iron oxide, which doesnt dissolve in water and can be filtered out.

so as you can see, there is no direct answer to the posters question.
