kevwe_flex: Once the embassy notify KCC the number of visas available for a particular month, I guess KCC now sends d form to embassy. When the cut-off numbers are released and your case number falls in that range it means you are current for that month and most likely going to have your interview. So for applicants with case number =<5000, u ve from now till October to get ur documents ready if they aren't. So if you were smart, you'd have started preparing your documents ever since you submitted your forms to KCC which I believe is an ample time.
I don't think DVs are done in Abuja, I've not heard anybody going there for such case. I stand to be corrected.
All categories of immigrant visas are handled only by the us consulate in Lagos.

Please if u r current for October interview and still not sure of certain documents or procedures, start asking now. The house is here to help each other.
You can itemize the documents you have so that other members can verify it and prbably make one or two inputs.
Congrats once again to all who are current, I may probably be current by November.

onpointbaby: Please house my friend is one of the winners of the current Dvlottery released in May and she has a small challenge I wish the house should respond to Her names are ADEYEMO ADEOLA ZAINAB but on her International passport her name appears as ADEYEMO ZAINAB ADEOLA hope this will not affect her on her interview day.
Nothing to worry about, it won't affect her.

Greetings.
For all house members who may currently have one challenge or the other and need clarification or answers to specific DV visa questions, kindly visit this thread - 'I Am A U.S. Consular Officer: Ask Me Your Visa Questions'. You can ask any question you feel bothered about and you will be given an answer directly by the visa officer. Mind you the answer may not be want you want to hear but you get it as it stands. Direct from source.
For now the thread will last till August 8, except the guy gets approval to continue. Its more like hearing from the horse's mouth.
Regards.

VisaOfficer: Our pleasure! Most of us are descended from immigrants ourselves, or are actually immigrants too, you know. smiley

Hmm. Based solely on the information above, in the absence of other information: While a change in year of birth would make us look very carefully at everything else, it's not a disqualification. Assuming you qualify in all other ways and that that's the only issue, you *should* be okay. Again, without the whole case here in front of me, I can't be too definitive, but that's my sense. Hope this helps.
Yeah, very well.
Hoping for the best.
Thanks.

Its heartwarming to know that u guys really care about those who genuinely wants to come to ur country. Thanks for taking out ur time to inform us.
Please kindly assist on this issue as regards my chances of obtaining a visa-
I am one of the winners of DV 2014 lottery along with my spouse. In my original application there was an error in my year of birth although the day and month are correct just the year. I have contacted kcc on the issue and I was told to fill in the correct year while submitting my forms as they cannot make any changes to the application.
Also I wish to state that all my documents has my actual date of birth.
Once again I wish to know if this error would affect my chances.
Warm regards.

Stillluvnaija: Please confirm your source of information. The current bill passed by the senate is intended to allow illegal immigrants to the US a 13 year path to citizenship but did not mention anything about dv lottery. The bill in any case still needs to be passed by the house who have republicans in majority but becoming law. I stand to be corrected but as far as I know, there is no indication yet whether dv lottery 2014 will be last. Fingers crossed I would say. wink
You are spot on.

MsSantaClaus: They will not refuse you based on that, but I advise you have a strong reason for the error , backed up with documentary evidence . Make sure your story is simple and reasonable. Don't complicate issues.

Please house, I have been for many embassy interviews, and my advice to anyone going for an interview is, do not offer any information unless you are asked for it.
Many of the things you all mention here as problems, the interviewing officer may not even notice.
Having said that, be sure you have a good reason, with documents for any thing you are not sure about, but please do not be the one to bring it up, let the interviewer ask you if she wants, yours is to be prepared with a short simple cogent answer.

Only answer what you are asked, don't talk to much and don't give unnecessary explanations.
Answer only what you are asked and no more.
If you don't understand the question, ask for an explanation, don't assume you do and answer wrongly.
Also most important, stick to your story, do not tell lies!
They can ask the same question in different ways , so make sure you give the same answer every time.
Be relaxed and all will be well.
Good luck everyone!
@MsSantaClaus
Great advice. Thanks for your response.

[quote author=miz4oxley]But, you wrote that one can change those details on the form to be submitted to KCC. I think people have had such experiences and they got the VISA. Just ask @Alickic. He's got testimonie.

What I mean is that Kentucky office can't do anything about. All they will do is include what you sent on the forms in your case file, review it and then send to consular in Nigeria. It up to d c.o to accept it as error or not.
TravelRe: DV 2014 Winners Meet Here by janut: 10:10pm On Jun 18, 2013
miz4oxley: Wow @Jamut, a friend also got same issue. What you guys gonna do. Any help?
Well, I think we may just have to pray they overlook it as error. Cos like the lady at Kentucky said they cant change it.

Tanx a lot. If its okay by u kindly connect with me via email @ fxnets@gmail.com or I can do same if u drop ur email or bbm contact. I really wish this TRV process would someday be a lot easier.

[quote author=bumfem]@janut, You are welcome. The VO will be suspicious of the source of your fund if it goes into your account in lump sum. U should have made the bank transfer the money into your wife's account and from there move it in gradually. This is more ideal as u will now have a consistent turn around of fund in your account. U can still do this, I guess if ur start date is Jan.
Your statement should be d total sum of your tuition for a year + your expenses, + your spouse expenses + flight bill for both of you. Submitting your land C of O remains a very good home tie. Pls also word them them very well in your SOP. With this + prayers u will be fine.

adeadebayor: Hello gr8 member, does below message message represent a confirmation that my form has been submitted? cos I submitted online.

'Thank you for your inquiry.

The information you provided will be included in your case file for review'.

Does anyone receive similar message after submission online?
Yeah, I got the same message. I think that's the acknowledgement u get for sending in your forms.
TravelRe: DV 2014 Winners Meet Here by janut: 10:27am On Jun 18, 2013
House pls help me out out this-
My confirmation page does not have my correct year of birth( this I must admit is my own error)because when I called Kentucky the lady was able to confirm my name, day of birth and month of birth, but when it got to the year of birth she said what I gave does not tally with what she has on her system and what they have on their system is exactly as I submitted it which cannot be changed. After that I then laid a complain via mail and I was told to submit the correct one when sending in my documents and it will be included in my file for review as they do not have the power to make any changes.
All my documents i.e birth cert, WAEC cert, international passport as well as marriage cert, carries my right age which I will tender during my interview. But my main concern is if the consular officer might use this error as grounds for denying me visa.
Would appreciate all your candid opinion.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 4 by janut: 10:50pm On Jun 17, 2013
@earthgreeners,@hayek,@bumfem, I am really grateful for your candid advise.
I really don't intend to declare it as loan(although it is backed by collateral), but don't you think the VO might raise eyebrows as to lump sum deposit since the money was transferred to my bank from the lending bank via NEFT transfer and no reason came along with the transfer except the loan advice sent to me via email?

Also still on this subject, at least how much do you think would be okay considering that I am self sponsored and my employer is only willing to give me an introductory letter and not a letter stating that I would still be in their payroll during my studies.

On the issue of personal ties to Nigeria, all my family members are in Nigeria and I have my personal building with 'right of occupancy'(R of O) would this readily pass as proof of personal ties to Nigeria.
Once again I would sincerely appreciate all your candid response.

I intend sponsoring myself as I have been working now for about 4 yrs, I have a loan from my bank of N2m although it is not stated as education/ student loan, just personal loan. I also have N2m as my personal savings in fixed deposit. The total cost of tuition for one yr is $6763.65(M.Sc. statistics, thesis) in U of Regina.I also intend travelling with my wife for the period. My question now is, do I still need a sponsor or am I good to go on funding aspect? All advise sincerely appreciated.
