Don't panic, as long as the account you are to send the money to is the same account that sent the money to you. But if the person wants you to send the money to a different account, involve the police.

If it was a POS transaction and the account identity is unclear, involve the police before returning the money to any account provided by the person.

Areview of the 2025 proposed budget by SaharaReporters has shown that 44 ministries, departments and agencies sampled for this report plan to spend N14.205 billion on fuelling generators in the new year.

Further review shows that the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru plans to spend N14.007 million on fuelling plants/generators. The Bureau of Public Enterprises plans to spend N36.2 million, while the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has a budget of N1.195 billion for fuelling generators and plants.

The Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit budgeted N33.6 million for the same purpose while the Bureau of Public Procurement budgeted N30 million for it.

For the Nigerian Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, the budget stood at N35.5 million while for the Nigeria Atomic Energy commission and its centres, the budget stood at N40 million.


The Nigeria Agricultural Land Development Authority aims to spend N30 million to fuel generators while the Ministry of Defence (headquarters) aims to spend N250 million on fuelling generators/plants.

The Defense Research and Development Bureau budget plans to spend N60.8 million on fuelling generators/plants while the Nigerian Army plans to spend N3.897 billion for the same purpose.

Other budgets for fuelling of plants/generators include Nigerian Navy, N235 million; National Hydrographic Agency, N20 million; Admiralty University of Nigeria, Ibusa, Delta State, N90 million; Nigerian Air Force, N19.9 million; Airforce Technology Institute, Kaduna, N13.3 million; Nigeria Defence Academy, N399.5 million; Nigerian Defence College, N337.4 million; Command and Staff College, Jaji, N181.5 million; Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre, Lagos, N26 million; and Ministry of Foreign Affairs (hqtrs), N567 million.

Other budgeted expenditures for generators and plants fuelling include Foreign Service Academy, N17.1 million, Auditor General’s Office, N200.5 million; Federal Civil Service Commission, N47.9 million; Federal Ministry of Police Affairs, N36.1 million; Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, N55 million; Nigeria Communications Satellite, N102 million; National Security Adviser, N182.9 million; Directorate of Security Services, N212 million; and National Institute for Security Studies, N200 million.

Other include National Intelligence Agency, N167 million; Presidential Air Fleets (State House), N207 million, National Centre for Control of Small Arms, N103.6 million; National Cybercrime Coordination Centre, and N91.9 million, Police Service Commission, N9.1 million.

The National Identity Management Commission also budgeted N82.3 million for the fuelling of generators, Federal Road Safety Commission, N2.5 billion; and National Hajj commission of Nigeria, N53 million.

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, N160.3 million and the Federal Ministry of Finance (headquarters budgeted N250 million to fuel generators and plants).

The budget of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, N27.3 million; National Directorate of Employment, N23.1 million and Federal Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, N30 million.

In total, 44 Agencies, Departments and Ministries plan to spend N14.205 billion on fuelling generators/plants in 2025.

This development comes amid electricity supply challenges in the country. Nigeria has continued to experience challenges in the electricity sector, especially with multiple grid failures in 2024.

In 2024, 12 electricity grid failures were recorded in the country.

A Chief Magistrate Court in Jimeta, Yola, Adamawa State, on Tuesday, sentenced Nuhu Isah to six months imprisonment or an option of a N20,000 fine for intimidating officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps and inciting passengers against them.

The Spokesperson for the corps, Olusegun Ogungbemide, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.

The court presided over by His Worship Mohammed Njidda, handed down the sentence following an incident on Sunday when Isah recorded an FRSC patrol team while they were conducting their lawful duties.

During the recording, he was said to have intimidated the officials and instigated a mob action against them, prompting his arrest and prosecution.

“A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Jimeta, Yola, Adamawa State presided by His Worship, Mohammed Njidda on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, convicted and sentenced one Mr Nuhu Isah to 6 Months imprisonment with an option of N20,000:00 fine, for criminally intimidating FRSC Patrol team,” the statement read in part.


Mohammed urged the public to cooperate with road safety initiatives and condemned acts that jeopardise the safety of road users and officers.

He affirmed that the FRSC remains undeterred in its mission to enforce road safety despite such challenges.

“The Corps Marshal calls on all road users to contribute their quota towards improving safety on the highway instead of engaging in acts inimical to safer road use.

“He emphasised the unwavering commitment of the FRSC towards creating safety on all Nigerian Roads and further reiterated that FRSC staff cannot be deterred by threats from miscreants,” the statement read.

Ogun State Police Command has raised concerns over a significant increase in reports of missing persons in the state.


The Command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, made this known in a statement in Abeokuta on Tuesday.

Odutola stated that the command had noticed an unprecedented rise in the number of missing persons across all age groups.


She explained that only a small fraction of the individuals had been found, with many regrettably not returning home.

The police image maker urged residents to remain vigilant and more security-conscious while prioritising their safety.

She further stated that as a proactive and community-oriented force, the command was committed to raising public awareness about this concerning trend.


“We encourage everyone to prioritise their safety by maintaining a heightened sense of security to avoid becoming a victim.

“The Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has outlined essential measures and guidelines to keep residents informed about the most pressing issues.

“Based on insights from individuals who were rescued, the Commissioner advises parents not to allow their children to use commercial transportation services with strangers.


“Additionally, he encourages restless youth to activate the digital communication and sharing features on their mobile devices, especially when traveling or in moments of distress,” Odutola said.

Kaduna – The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has dispelled any rumour of internal wrangling in the organisation, insisting that the recent changes within the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) leadership are simply routine internal adjustments designed to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.


In a statement issued by Abdul-Azeez Suleiman,
Director NGOs and CSOs of the Northern Elders Forum( NEF), the elders forum explained that it’s crucial to dispel any misconceptions about internal conflict within the NEF.


“We remain a united and cohesive body, bound by a common vision and unwavering commitment to the development and betterment of the Northern region,” the NEF insisted.”

“The appointment of a new spokesperson and the shift in my role are procedural changes, not indicative of any underlying conflict or alteration of the Forum’s core principles.
