Investment / Top Ten Currencies In The World 2021 by Jason998: 8:16pm On Apr 25, 2021
What are the strongest currencies in the world?

The United Nation recognizes around 180 currencies as legal tender but which one holds the most value? Based on CMC Market report obtained by Matrix ,to compare the value of currencies, we have used the United State dollar as a fixed based currency. The strongest currency here is defined as the one that is most expensive in comparison to US dollar. That is , the currency that gives you the smallest return for 1 US dollar.

1.Kuwaiti dinar

Known as the strongest currency in the world, the Kuwaiti dinar or KWD was introduced in 1960 and was initially equivalent to one pound sterling. Kuwait is a small country that is nestled between Iraq and Saudi Arabia whose wealth has been driven largely by its large global exports of oil.

You will receive just 0.30 Kuwait dinar after exchanging 1 US dollar, making the Kuwaiti dinar the world’s highest-valued currency unit per face value, or simply ‘the world’s strongest currency’.

2. Bahrain dinar

The second strongest currency in the world is the Bahrain dinar or BHD. Like most Arabic currencies on this list, it is divided into 1000 smaller currency units, in this case, called ‘fils’. The Bahraini dinar is only used in Bahrain and is pegged against the US dollar.

Of similar value to the Omani rial, when trading 1 US dollar you will receive 0.38 Bahraini dinar.

3. Omani rial

The Omani rial or OMR is the national currency of Oman. Unlike most conventional currencies, the Omani rial is split into 1000 smaller divisions known as baisa. The Omani rial quickly rose in value after being introduced due to the success of Oman’s oil exports and being pegged against the US dollar.

A single US dollar will exchange for around 0.38 Omani Rial, which is nearly double the currency strength of the Pound sterling!

4. Jordan dinar

The national currency of Jordan is the Jordanian dinar or JOD, which earned the position as the 4th strongest currency in the world today. The currency became Jordan’s official currency in 1950 after it replaced the Palestinian pound.

1 US dollar is transferrable for around 0.71 Jordanian Dinar, earning the currency a rightful place in the top 5 most valuable currencies.

5. Pound sterling

The Great British pound, the pound sterling or the GBP is the 5th most valuable currency in the world. Although the GBP is not the strongest currency in the world, it does keep the title as the oldest currency still in circulation.

The pound sterling is often thought to be the strongest currency in the world and is the strongest currency in the world that is widely used. It’s also the 4th most traded currency globally, accounting for around 12.8% of daily trades on the foreign exchange market.

When exchanging a single US dollar, you will receive around 0.75 Great British pounds in return. This currency pair (USD/GBP), is commonly known as “cable” and is the 3rd most traded currency pair in the world...

She noted that the ‘Book of States’ was just one, out of many efforts to promote investment opportunities in the country, adding that the commission was working on other plans.

“The investment passport is another document that will identify and will be useful in promoting the investment opportunities in the states.

“This is the next thing we are working on along with profiling of specific investment opportunities of each state,” she said.

Abdul Samad, the founder and chairman of BUA Group has cried out that Aliko Dangote, the Chairman of Dangote Group, and Mr. John Coumantaros, Chairman of Flour Mills Plc are doing all they can to run him out of business.

The issue at the center of the raging battle is the BUA’s 850, 000mt export-focused sugar refinery at the Bundu Free Zone in Port Harcourt Rivers State.

Dangote accused BUA of operating with impunity by contravening the laws as laid down in the National sugar policy by selling its products locally instead of producing for export alone.

Consequently, Dangote and Coumantaros prayed that “The provision of the National Sugar Master Plan, NMSP are enforced and no additional allocation of quota should be given for raw, VHP or refined sugar for the Sugar Refinery in Port Harcourt...

Business / Nigeria Excluded By IMF From Debt Relief Funds by Jason998: 4:02pm On Apr 06, 2021
Nigeria has been excluded from the list of 28 countries granted debt pardon by the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

IMF Directors concurred that countries that received the CCRT grants for debt relief are generally pursuing appropriate macroeconomic policies in response to the economic fallout from the global pandemic. They welcomed that a number of member countries were transitioning to Upper Credit Tranche-quality arrangements which would provide a stronger policy framework for the recovery period. Directors also observed that most countries would benefit from a resumption of Fund surveillance and updated debt sustainability assessments.

The Fund directors noted the progress made in implementing governance safeguards commitments regarding COVID-19 related spending in CCRT-eligible countries. However, they regretted implementation delays in some countries, particularly in disclosing beneficial ownership information on entities awarded government contracts. Directors thus underscored the importance of continued follow-through on the commitments on governance and transparency, supported if necessary, by technical assistance.

Politics / Service Chiefs Don't Take Buhari Seriously On Insecurity - Sen. Abaribe by Jason998: 11:34am On Apr 01, 2021
In a shocking disclosure, The Senate Minority Leader, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, has disclosed that nobody takes President Muhammadu Buhari seriously on security issues, not even the newly appointed service chiefs.

Abaribe made this disclosure while fielding questions through an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today monitored by Matrixlive.

He reacted to the recent order that President Buhari issued to the service chiefs ahead of his recent medical trip to the United Kingdom.

“Why would we take him (President Muhammadu Buhari) seriously? Just the day after he had said we would no longer accept all these kidnappings, this would be the last, they kidnapped the last day.

And those people are still there; those innocent Nigerians are still in captivity up till now. He always makes a statement. Every time these things happen, nothing happens. So it is obvious nobody takes him seriously with that. Even the military chiefs, I don’t think they bother themselves.

This is about the umpteenth time that we are hearing the President giving a marching order. Throughout the Buratai time as the Chief of Army Staff, he was always giving marching orders so he has given just another one” he said.

Recall that Nigeria has been experiencing a series of security threats ranging from terrorism, banditry, militancy, cultism among others in several parts of the country.

Business / Npa’s Electronic Call-up System Collapses After One Month by Jason998: 9:56pm On Mar 26, 2021
It appears the much-touted electronic call-up system set up by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) to arrest the movement of trucks operating in Apapa and environs has collapsed as gridlock on the port access roads has fully returned.

A visit to Apapa yesterday for the Maritime Association of Nigeria, MARAN grand reception in honour of Adeleye Ajayi as the Chairman Nigerian Union of Journalist, Lagos Chapter revealed a long line of trucks blocking the roads and bridge at Ijora and at Tin Can thereby hampering free movement into the Lagos Port Complex and Tin Can Island Port Complex and other adjoining areas.

The trucks heading to Apapa port blocked the road from Eleganza Plaza on Wharf Road all the way to the National Arts Theatre at Iganmu, while the trucks heading to Tin Can port backed up from the Second Gate all the way to Mile Two.

It appears both NPA and the Lagos traffic management team are helpless and the port roads have, once again, become free for all.

Recall that NPA rolled out the electronic call-up system on February 27 with promises by the Managing Director of the authority, Hadiza Bala Usman, that the new system was the much-needed elixir to Apapa gridlock. NPA launched an app called ETO, which truckers are expected to use to book turns to enter the port.
