I come frm a family of 7 kids and only last 2 ended up being SS.howeva dey changed my perception abt SS coz I've always heard stories and seen other people's situations but in their case u'll hardly knw d difference.all they usually require is less stress and a regular dose of b-complex and folic acid.they r as strong and brilliant as ever.rarely fallin sick and always on d go.my younger brother is 28 and d last born is 22.these r people I live with and dey r my testimony to d world. I'm nt sayin every1 shld go all out to create such situations but its really nt as bad as most of ya'll really tink.thank God for a mum like mine...I'm AS by d way and is my wife ends up bein AS I certainly won't wory.

You guys are fortunate and im happy that your siblings do not suffer most of the problems persons with d SS gene go through. But honestly, most Sicklers do not have it so good so do not think that if u marry an AS lady ur kids would be just like ur siblings.
Beyond that are you aware that there are rare genotypes (AC, SC, AD etc) that are wrongly diagnosed as AS and SS? People with this rare genotypes may not suffer as much as SS. I wouldn't be surprised if one of ur parents is AC or AD.

Some people here are posting info dat is wrong. For EACH child you chose to have, there is a 25% chance of having d SS genotype,75% chance of having AA or AS genotype. I repeat EACH and EVERY child. That's why some couples have up to 4 kids and 3 are SS and some have and none are SS. It's a case of probability and good fortune. Do u guys want to risk that?

Some people here also mistakenly think that if they lose the person they are in love with now, their whole world will crash and they would never get someone to love and to love them back like that particular person. That is Rick Ross-sized bullcrap. I used to feel that way and I forcefully and stubbornly tried to marry someone who was AS like me. Thank God she used her bad character and other things to end it. Today im married with 2 kids looking forward 2 my 3rd anniversary with love, gratitude and irreplaceable rest of mind.
Guys choose wisely. Ending a wonderful relationship may be extra tough and painful but years down the road you may see that it was 100% worth it.

One group I really find annoying are the 'E no consign me' crew.

Let's be honest with ourselves. There is hierarchy of class in a society and u can feel insulted or embarrassed when someone below your class have on the same outfit as you.

As a girl in general, I don't want to see any other girl wearing the same outfit as me. I can't even buy a top if my friend has the exact type, uh-uh!

how did u deduce that its only the 'poor' that liked that statement? How much are you worth? How many properties bear ur name in Abuja or outside Nigeria? How many jets, cars and yachts make up ur fleet? If Dangote's daughter(or Carlos Slim's wife) saw u wearing the exact top she is wearing and starts complaining about 'poor' people (like u Obviously) also wearing 'rich' people's clothes would you find it funny?
Of course nobody like seeing what he/she is wearing everywhere he/she goes but its just not cool to brand others 'low class' when in reality we r most likely 'low class' to so many people in Naija and beyond.

We all go to church and mosques but deep down we are the most selfish set of people on earth. Why wont people in government steal billions meant for everyone? OP: if someone of ur 'class' wears what u r wearing, would it bother u? I strongly believe u r not in the 'class' of the senators or ministers. So if a few of them were to see people in ur 'class' wearing the same clothes or cheap replicas, they should move a motion in the National Assembly or during their FEC meetings to deliberate on the matter abi? The truth is hardly anyone feels comfortable seeing what he/she is wearing on others. If u had started the thread with that in mind it would have made much more sense.
