Have you heard of the new way people buy used phones? They go to merchants that use diagnostics software to verify the phone has no hidden defect and also tells you the lifespan of the phone

Ok.. Where can I get these merchants? Am still weighing my options.

Hello fellow Nlnders,

Greetings to you all, going straight to the point I just want to make some enquiries as I will be entering the market to purchase a phone soon. It's been long I bought a phone and infact the last phone I bought was Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime in 2017. I am a core Samsung Galaxy fan and I haven't used any other product which isn't a Samsung phone.

With the hike in prices of mobile phone including Samsung products since 2017, I just may be on my way to getting a Tecno device or Infinix. Someone advised me to purchase a refurbished iPhone on jumia, that a refurbished iPhone 6S Plus for example on Jumia will be better than a brand new Tecno Pouvoiur 4 Pro or Infinix Note 7 as all boast of similar price range.

I am considering the following products, NB All fall into the same price range.
Samsung Galaxy A21s
Brand new Tecno Pouvoiur 4 Pro
Brand new Infinix 7
Refurbished iPhone 6S Plus
Refurbished iPhone 7

Mobile Tech experts please help me out. If you have purchased refurbished iPhone from Jumia previously please what was the experience like.

Thank you all..

I'm actually thinking of coming back to Nigeria after completion of the programme (in Germany)
That's why I'm thinking if polymer is ok for me. Being an Applied chemistry graduate and the polymer is offered by chemistry department of the universities while nanoscience is offered by biology department of the University.
I don't want to like change field you know how Nigeria works
Thanks

I do understand you, Nanoscience is a very broad field that engulfs Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Agric and Renewable and Sustainable Energy. I really think that if you want to base and work in Nigeria then you just have to consider Polymer. Nano is what i call an infant field and most of its opportunities are still on the research and development level as compared to Polymer which is on an industrial production level, on a normal basis. You know the level of Nigeria when it comes to research and development in normal Biology, Engineering and Science field, talk more research in Nanotechnology. So if you are considering returning to Nig., then i would advice Polymer Sci/ Engineering because it would help propel you into the industry and give you an edge in the industry, but if you want to pursue a career in research and development, and synthesis of nanoparticles and composite nanomaterials, then base abroad and pursue your future in Nanosci/Nanotech/Nanoeng. Also their are companies indicating interests in scaling up of research breakthroughs in Nanotech in UK, China, USA and other developed countries, you may as well excel in that axis.

Warm regards

Nanotechnology is a great field with tremendous potential. I would stongly advice you to leave Nigeria if you want to venture into the Nanoworld. I am a nanotechnology enthusiast and am equally looking forward to doing another MSc and PhD in Nanotechnology or Nanoengineering . In other words, if you are looking forward to staying in Nigeria, then I would expect you go for Polymer Sci. I doubt if their are more than 2 schools doing Nanotechnology at Masters and PhD level. Also your value will not be appreciated in Nigeria. I have done some researches concerning Nanotech in Nigeria. You can mail me on jude.ehirim@yahoo.com so that we can talk better.

It's never easy in this nation. To all the young guys (mid 20's)out there trying to find a way through to make ends meet.. I say may God see you through.

Am in my mid 20's though.. Currently pursuing my Masters in one of the federal universities in the country. Been learning so many production skills as I still grind through in my education. I know what it feels like to be told that you have younger ones and that their school fees will have to be paid when asking for money from your parents, or that their is no money.

Am not counting in millions yet.. But I know for certain that soon I will.

Learn a skill.. Keep working.. Tomorrow will be better.

Politics / Re: The Main Reasons Why I Demolished The Hotel... Gov. Wike by Jaydchukwuemeka(m): 11:44am On May 11, 2020

Wike is acting like the Judge, Jury and Executioner. He has acted above the law with this actions and the hotel owners need to sue the River's Star Government for loss of income and livelihood.

What has this demolition achieved? More unemployment and an environmental hazard and eyesore with these structures that will remain there forever ever because in Nigeria we do not believe in cleaning up after a disaster or demolition.

Well said... We need more employment opportunities. If only he will provide more opportunities for those that will loose their jobs as a result of the demolition
Politics / Re: The Main Reasons Why I Demolished The Hotel... Gov. Wike by Jaydchukwuemeka(m): 10:50am On May 11, 2020
ShenTeh:

The question is: Is the governor's action constitutional? Is there a constitutional provision that stipulates the demolition of a business building that contravenes a lockdown order? Does the continued existence of the structure pose any potential threat to the lives and properties of the good people of Rivers State? ...

I believe Wike's action was rather driven by power than by law, but the law is supreme.

Let aggrieved parties seek redress in court.

Wike I believe is a Lawyer by profession.. He is supposed to know the after effects of anything that He is venturing into.. I overhead a radio station this morning saying something about the law that was put in place that says any beer parlour, hotel, eatery or establishment that fails to comply with the lockdown order will have the structure Demolished..

If that is the case I believe the owners of these hotels and the people at large are just crying over spilled milk..

But if that very action of Gov. Wike isn't backed by law then He should have himself to blame
But like I said I believe He knows what he is doing and should be responsible for his actions as a Law practitioner.

I do believe some of the task force officers approach matters in an unfair manner.. No manner of approach and most of them are not diplomatic.

Not ruling out the fact that the hotels made a mistake by opening and they are to be blamed for anything they receive. If they had closed, I believe they won't be embarrassed and harassed in this manner.

Feel free to Air your opinion

Governor of Rivers State..

Gov. Nyesom Wike yesterday said that the main reasons why He Demolished the hotels in Rivers State is not only because the hotel endangered the lives of the good people of Rivers State by opening, but because the task force officers he sent, were beaten and dealt with..

Politics / Re: Should Africa Consider The Nuclear Energy Route? by Jaydchukwuemeka(m): 11:54am On Apr 22, 2020
This is total and absolutely thrash and unimaginable. Going nuclear? I took time to go through this writeup and I didn't see anywhere the writer made mention of nuclear waste and it's consequences. At least addressing the issues without pointing out it hazardous and side effects would be as disastrous and as devastating as the nuclear energy itself.

You made mention of sustainable, clean and green energy.
Africa has a lot of potential when it comes to renewable energy and Renewable energy industry, I do believe Africa should go clean, renewable and sustainable via biomass, generate electricity, wealth and create employment by establishing biological energy transformation industries, were these industries would go, solicit and corporate with farmers, who would in turn supply them with wastes from farmlands for production of electricity and other energy resources.
Africa is not in any way ready for any nuclear program of any kind. Africa is tender and still growing and I believe that if those of us (Chemical Engrs, Nuclear Engrs and other professionals) in the field should make people understand the dangers surrounding this wrong move.

God bless the continent which in it lies the future of the world
God bless Africa .

Sure.. It will I believe, in all ramifications. Including the science, policies, migration issues even politics. Let us brace up and be ready to withstand the changes that will come with it. Post Corona era will surely come.
For now let us support those in the forefront of fighting this pandemic. May their efforts never be in vain.
