CultureRe: More Photos & Facts Of The Two Sisters Who Married Oba Of Benin, Ewuare II by Jaypoint: 1:13pm On Jun 03, 2019
MetaPhysical:
Sleeping with siblings is an abomination in any land, in any culture and in any religion. It is a matrimonial taboo. I doubt the story but if indeed this happened then it erodes all the super-natural myth erected around this king.

What I noticed and found profound is seeing the supposedly very private king exhibiting the privacy of his most private affairs to the outside world. He might as well break the "Oba no dey travel" taboo and do what other kings have been doing.....travel more outside his enclave and fraternize, the days of some emperor locked in hibernation behind the city wall is far gone!
Advertising once ignorance is not a virtue. Ten minutes with Google would have helped you to learn that Oba Ewuare the 1st, c.1450, married 2 sisters, Oyoyo and Ewere, the latter of which is immortalized in today's Ewere festival of Edo people.

Nathayas:
Tradition did not allow it, where in nigeria that tradition allow two sisters to marry one man. You can not say the truth again because of poverty.
A friend of mine calls NL the largest online gathering of ignorant ppl in Nigeria.
For your info, Benin tradition does not just allow it, it celebrates it (if it is the Oba doing it). Benin's most popular festival Ewere is in honour of Ewere, who together with her sister, was the wife of Oba Ewuare the 1st in 1450, the Oba who turned Benin into an Empire, and who is believed to have reincarnated as this current Oba Ewuare the 2nd.
I hope this helps anyone who is ignorant on this topic. If you like the culture section, show a bit of interest in learning historical facts, it will help you avoid advertising your ignorance. E.g, there are ethnic groups in west africa here where sisters marry same husband.

If only all igbos and ijaws could realize this,a lot could be achieved by both.

Constructive contribution from igbo and ijaw sons as well as their offshoots-kalabari,okrika,andoni,ibani,opobo,etche,ikwerre,anioma,ndoki,ogba,ndoni,egbema,ekpeye etc.
Abagworo, please i need your kind assistance if you will be willing. I am doing a postgraduate research and I have need to discuss the history of the indigenous Justice System of Southeastern Nigeria. So, I remembered a post of yours a long time ago.
...Amadioha though has its many definitions seems to have been founded in mystery. I have tried to trace its possible root and it seems to coincide with the era of proliferation of shrines by either an Igbo or non Igbo group of Crossriverian origin whom I believe must have transformed to Ikwerre ethnic group in Rivers State. When you study the movement and settlement of people from Ozuzu and further claims by Etche people of not being exactly same stock as Ozuzu Amadioha people and same claim by Oratta and Isoama of not being same stock as the Igwekali of Umunoha, then things will add up. Igwekali and Amadioha are probably offshoots of some ancient priestly men with links to Chukwu deity or Ubini Ukpabi of Aro. They brought the oha titleship and conduct to southern tip of igboland with their gods and shrines."
I will appreciate if I can obtain from you all the reference materials you may have on this topic.

Unite and form a greater MEND
It shall be great indeed.
Does any one really need a GREATER MEND for whatever purpose?
