Why do people tie restitution to going to heaven? Is heaven a reward for good works? Can anybody merit heaven by good works?

Beloved, you can't bribe your way to heaven by restitution. Heaven is a gift not a reward.

Holiness means sacredness. Until one is PERFECTLY sacred as GOD, he shall NEVER see God.

If being perfect as God is by OUR OWN 100% PERFECT GOODNESS, which implies being 100% perfect yesterday, today and forever. Then who can be as EXCELLENT as God? Definitely NOBODY!

We can only be as perfect as God through the faith of christ. Why? Because all our past, present and future imperfections were judged, convicted and condemned on christ on our behalf. And by that all our imperfections are NO MORE imputted on us, because it was imputed on christ. Now, God sees us AS HE IS!

1john 4:17;"In this [union and fellowship with
Him], love is completed and perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment[with assurance and boldness to face
Him]; because as HE IS, SO ARE WE in this world.

If GOD is eternally righteous, without interfering with the good and bad things that happen, then WE are as well made ETERNALLY RIGHTEOUS without interfering with our good and bad works

God is not righteous because he does good things. He is eternally righteous because eternal righteousness is HIS NATURE. Whether good or bad things happen or not, it simply does not interfere with his nature. SO ARE WE!

We now as righteous as him, even when we are not as 100% righteous as him through good works. Because, it is not an achieved righteousness, but an IMPUTED righteousness.

When we say that God doesn't imput our sins on us any longer, it doesn't mean that God is overlooking sin. Rather he doesn't imput it on us BECAUSE he imputed it on christ, that is the only option God has for man's redemption. If God should judge us, then it will be a CRIME OF DOUBLE JEOPARDY and as well shows that christ's death was not a sacrifice for sin, but a MURDER!

Holiness is NOT good actions! Everybody can do righteous works even when they are not saved, does it mean they are holy?? Simply NO!

Jesus is the holiness of God, so when we believe in him, we are made holy PERFECTLY AS GOD by the faith we have in christ.

1cor 1:30;"You are partners with Christ Jesus because of God. JESUS HAS BECOME OUR wisdom sent from God, our righteousness, OUR HOLINESS, and our ransom from sin."

Holiness is Jesus. So without him no eyes shall see the lord!

Restitution is not consistent with truth about salvation. If I still need to pay back for my sin, why did Christ die. Secondly, can you explain how I will restitute for women I slept with before salvation? I will unsleep them, right?

How will someone tear his or her certificate and claim restitution. Read your Bible well. If u want to restitute on a forged or cheat certificate you will have to return back 4 certificates to the institution or go to jail 4 times. That is 25yr*4 which is 100.

Remember, even Zacchseus restituted four fold. Don't tear that piece of paper which you can get back and claim restitution.

Restitution is such a hot topic. Any where it is raised voices and tempers rise.

A key to putting this to rest is for us to know clearly what is Old Covenant and what is New Testament. It's called 'rightly dividing the word of truth'.

This issue of restitution is something that is getting out of hand. Restitution is GOOD. But the problem is ON WHAT GROUND are you doing the restitution.

My problem with restitution arises each time some ignorant people make it look like a requirement for salvation. And they would always use zacheus(sorry, if not spelt well) to preach it to look like a requirement for salvation, not knowing that zacheus did it FOR A REASON. And they would mischievously shy away from the criminal at the cross, woman with issue of blood, woman of samaria(the prostitute), woman of adulterer who never restituted. This is shameful!

RESTITUTION IS NOT A REQUIREMENT FOR GETTING SAVED!

If I am saved because I restituted, then I AM THE SAVIOUR and not jesus christ because it is MY OWN GOODNESS. But if I am saved because Jesus died ON MY BEHALF, took the punishment of my sins ON MY BEHALF and FREELY declare HIS PERSONAL righteousness on me, then there is no doubt that he TOTALLY SAVES! We have to agree on one thing, which is that restitution is a GOOD WORK.

The bible makes it clear that salvation/eternal life/righteousness of God is NOT by grace + good works, rather it is evident in the scriptures that it is all about 100% grace OR 100% perfect good works.

Romans 11:6;6 And IF by grace, then is it NO MORE OF WORKS(including restitution): OTHERWISE GRACE IS NO MORE GRACE. But if it be of works, then is it NO MORE GRACE: otherwise work is no more work.

In the above verse, paul was not saying that we should not do good works(including restitution), rather he was saying that if we receive salvation/eternal life/God's righteousness by relying on 100% God's grace, it is NO MORE by relying on our 100% perfect good works(even though no man can attain this). And that if we try to add good works to grace; as a means of getting saved, then GRACE IS NO MORE GRACE.

Why did paul say "...OTHERWISE GRACE IS NO MORE GRACE."? To answer this you have to know that the grace of God, only through which we were saved is a gift, not a reward for good work.

Eph 2:8-9;"8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: IT IS THE GIFT OF GOD:
9 NOT OF WORKS(including restitution), lest any man should boast."

Misinformed christian may say that I am preaching hyper-grace, but they don't know that God's grace on it's own is hyper. That's why it passes all understanding and imaginations, it makes one imagine. How can God...?

The grace of God which is a gift is NOT a cheap gift(which means you offered something little to EARN it), but a FREE GIFT!

Romans 5:15;"15 But not as the offence, so also is the FREE GIFT. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the FREE GIFT BY GRACE, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many."

So, in roms 11:6, paul was saying that if a FREE GIFT(grace) should demand your goodness, then the free gift is NO MORE a free gift.

So, if salvation/eternal life/God's righteousness/justification is given to us a FREE GIFT(grace), then it is NO MORE because of how good you are(even if you restitute). Your goodness adds NOTHING to your salvation.

Romans 3:24 "Being justified(made righteous, saved) FREELY(not demanding your goodness/good works) by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:"

THE REASON FOR RESTITUTION:
The only reason why one should restitute if HE WILLS, is for the reason of self-satisfaction and not as a means of getting saved. Because salvation of the lord is a free gift. Jesus NEVER told zacheus to restitute. Zacheus did it for the reason of self-satisfaction, to prove his salvation before men. And him proving his salvation before men through restitution adds NOTHING to his salvation, because Jesus gives it out FREELY.

I met my fiancee some few yrs ago. I've agreed to marry her but there are factors I still want to give a final consideration before signing the dotted lines. These are:

1. She is not literate but willing to go to school. I never dreamt of marrying an illiterate when I, myself is a graduate. Her waec result is nothing to write home about. In fact she wasted her time in secondary school as far as I'm concerned and when I asked her why she was such an olodo, she quickly blamed those she lived with. She said because she was more or less a maid then, she hadn't much time for her studies and that's why she failed woefully. When I met her, her use of english was zero and I had to exert much effort to bring her to the level where she could converse freely with me at least in english. She retook her ssce and credited all subjects except math.

2. She's 2yrs and 3months older than me. Some argue that a woman will age first when older and that's the reason men go for younger women or at worst, their age mates.

3: She sometimes feel inferior to me cos' of my literacy and polished way of going about my stuff.

4. She has a fat tummy. This I perceived to be an upshot of her eating habit before I met her. Can you believe that it was when I started staying close to her that I discovered that she doesn't drink water after eating. Maybe she does that very much later. She was an expert in devouring meat with her friends and never exercised. I also had to teach her to drink water first thing in the morning before taking breakfast. I discovered that her mouth was always dry as a result of this disgusting lifestyle. If she wants to have a word with me in low tone, I do perceive some offensive odours from the mouth sometimes. All this are changing slowly now cos' a damage of so many years can't just be corrected overnight. I'm putting much effort into rearing her cos' she's a wife material.

There are one or two other drawbacks I won't like to go into now as the aforementioned factors are the ones that baffle me the most. I sometimes get so annoyed and start abusing her. But she also has her good sides that even attracted me to her which are:

1. She is well-mannered.
2. She can cook very well.
3. She is very hospitable.
4. She's very respectful.
5: She's pretty and fair.
6. She's a wife material.
7. She's reserved.

The crux here is that we are presently, not on the same page as far as being learned and refined is concerned and I want to marry someone who'll be very refined as well. Though we stay as friends but I feel she doesn't measure up.
So my people, if you were in my shoes, can you go ahead and marry her despite these bad sides??
