Education / JAMB 2020 - Only Candidates With National Identification Number Will Register by JEEZNG: 9:39pm On Jul 02, 2019
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has revealed that to tighten the registration process for its 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) only candidates with National Identification Number will be allowed to register.

The Head of Media, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, who stated this in Abuja, said the move was aimed at purging the UTME registration process and eliminating identity theft, adding that the board was ready to go to any length to enforce biometric verification.

Fabian vowed that the board would no longer conduct UTME in school-based centres operated by private individuals as they have become enclaves for fraudsters to perpetrate malpractice, except such centres are owned and operated by the schools hosting them.

He said, “Each time we have a case of examination malpractice, we write to the Attorney General to give us a fiat to prosecute the case ourselves; subsequently, you must have a National Identification Number (NIN), to register for JAMB examination to eliminate the issue of identity theft.”

Recall that despite measures adopted by JAMB to curb all forms of infractions, the 2019 UTME was marred by malpractices as examination syndicates infiltrated centres across the country, giving a free rein to fraud and criminalities with the intent of undoing the credibility of the process.

JAMB said in one instance, a particular candidate registered a record 222 times, while some registered 46 and others 56 times or more, forcing the exam body to delay the release of its results till after May 11, 2019.

Benjamin disclosed that parents, especially mothers were constituting a major barrier to the credibility of the exercise as they were actively conniving with their children to pay fraudsters in order to acquire marks.

Speaking on the public outcry over the conduct of the 2019 UTME, he said the complaints received so far, were because the board was more disposed to disclose what is happening now than ever.

Meanwhile, JAMB’s Intelligence Committee has invalidated the results of four candidates who were found to have been involved in the manipulation of their 2019 UTME.

Education / Re: Should I Spend N40 Million+ Studying Medicine In Texilla American University? by JEEZNG: 6:36am On Jun 21, 2016
SmartMugu:
If you are interested in getting a medical degree that is still valuable in the US, you may want to research some schools in the neighboring Caribbean Islands. Several Americans interested in medical studies take that route to reduce tuition fees and are considered same as those that racked up the same amount you quoted within the US.

So, why spend that much for what you can get cheaper elsewhere and still get same level of acceptance?
Think about it.

Thanks for your response. please can you make some valuable recommendations of schools in these islands?

Hello nairalanders, I need help here from you.

I was offered an admission to study medicine at the texilla american university in Guyana. When I summed-up the school fees, the amount for the 5 years medical program is USD117,700 which is over N40Million excluding feeding and transportation.

My questions goes...

1. Is this a good investment?
2. Do Nigerian Medical and Dental Council accept graduates from this university?
3. Can graduates from this university work in the US?

I believe there are fellow nairalanders here or their relatives who have attended this school. So, I need advise from you to help me make the final decision to pay for the seat reservation fee.
