Personally o, i'd rather be in my one room than share a two bedroom flat with a mate. If you search carefully, you fit get house within that kind 500k range and with proximity to your work place. I mean, you're already spending upto 500k per annum. 1000 * 360 is over 300k. Minus weeknds is still over 200 + your current rent
...Omo 500k rent go dey too much for me ooo.. I make around 200k monthly

First, happy birthday, man!
Blessings follow you, Amen!

Back to the matter...
Staying close to your place of work is amazing, honestly, but you still need to check for safety, security, relaxation, power supply, other bills, and above all, peace of mind, since you will be sharing.

From your narration about your daily fares, when you get the new space, you would be saving up nothing less than N700 daily. That's nearly N180k if you work on workdays.

Do you know this friend so well? Does your lifestyle match up with his? Have you guys discussed the sharing of bills?

Lastly, you're moving from N180k to about N350k, can you offset the rent at once easily?

Abeg, you fit mention the area? The N180k.
...Na for south east... 130k selfcon dey self

I live in a selfcon that I pay 180k per annum, but I spend around 1000k-1200k on transportation daily to and fro... Yesterday my guy told me about, a nice 2 bedroom flat going for 850k to pay 700k yearly that we should share the rent, transport from there to my shop is 300 to and fro.. which one do you think is better..

The downside of the shared apartment is that some information in your life becomes public and you wont have the total privacy you should have which outs you at some form of soft risk. Should incase the other party wants to sabotage you in future, the information he has about you becomes weaponzised. Find another apartment close to work and stay alone. As someone who has been messed around alot, please put your privacy as the most important thing.

The thing weak me bro

Poor people actually think it's all about your account balance but it's far from that

My landlord died two years with lots of properties.. As in, he died as a fulfilled man

The wife told me recently that they didn't meet ordinary 50k in the husband's account after his death... I wasn't even surpised because the man was always using money to tie one or two things down
.. boss, you have to save reasonable amount first before you could be able to invest...

You save about half of ur monthly earning

Ur monthly earning should be about 140k

How did you do it please?
... You should budget your spending... Buy things in bulk (very important).. as for me I no dey do pass myself .. I live in a nice selfcon where I pay 180k per annum.. I budget 30k to 40k every month for gas, toiletries, perishable foods, and other things... Then I buy grains, palm oil and other foodstuffs where they are cheap in bulk.. example around March/April this year, I bought palm oil 25 litres for 18k now it's around 32k..

You cannot generalize based on your own experience. There are people who are making legitimate money as we speak. Some are even making more money than they used to before this administration.
True, most people suffer as a result of the current economic situation, but some have become richer as a result of the same factors.
For example, if you have a contract with a foreign organization (working remotely); you will get paid in US Dollars or British Pounds or Euros; but you will pay rent, school fees, transport fare, feeding expenses, etc in Naira.
How will you not save money?
... Shaa most people really saw shege this year...even the so called rich men

You are right though, I would say what I saw this year as savings I never saw it in all my whole adult life put together, it was massive for me. It may not be for others when actual figures are mentioned but I must confessed all my life put together I haven't seen the figures I saw this year. Same figures and even more is almost assured for year.. ... Omo

Interestingly this is my first year of turn around, the previous year didn't even make anything close to 5 percent of that figure.
