You know i never was comfortable and am still not comfortable with the Religion thread. Why? It’s too too sensitive a topic and it would do nothing but cause bad blood and bitter quarrels. The issue of religion in the world has always been over rated and this overrating brings in overzealous and extremist attitudes. For every person his religion is the best or the way and when comparism is now brought in unhealthy debates come in. Now Ejiro is a Jehovah Witness and she asking for anyone who shares a religious beliefs to come out and join her in discussion about it but as we all see look at the reaction she got from people, and from my point of view this is how people are going t et reacted too when they bring topics on there own religions

If i am Christian or Muslim or Buddhist or Celestian or even Guru Marhaji or catholic or protestant or even worship Iron........................................... etc any of these religions are or is a personal choice and conviction for me and ill be very defensive if i hear it being criticized, Lots of wars or crime has been committed in this world right from the Old days to the New days in the name of religion and i swear it sickens me when i see this hideous things, but for some places i think we can actually be free of this burden , and an example of such a place to me is Nairaland.com. You see i don’t know how others view the place but for me its a place i can be relaxed, be free and be happy a place i can actually come and share views with people and not have to take the sadness of the world with me.

Seun since we can all say what we feel i feel this Religious part of your Work is something you would have to rework on how you do it or go about it i don’t know but all i see with it would be nothing but bitter arguments and highly sentimental values being toyed with. I have my own religion (Christianity) and i have my views on other religions but i am not one to chastise, condemn, critise or question another person about his or her religion if its a case of getting education (which you would have to work on) on the religion then i think it would be acceptable but when it comes to the person being attacked about his religion then i totally disagree with it. The world is a complex place right now and it gets a whole lot more complex by the second (all you have to do is watch TV and you would see) and human beings try and find something to believe in to free themselves of the complexity of the world now how or what you chose is your personal conviction and its your right and i don’t think your place (Nairaland.com) is a place where what you choose should be trampled upon and i say this concerning all religions i don’t think Nairaland.com is a place where peoples religions should be questioned or criticized. I know im going to get some hard hit backs for this views of mine but?? . There is so much sadness in the world and we make up ways to make this sadness into happiness for us and one of my ways of overriding the sadness of the e world is by logging on to Nairaland.com and that is what i want to keep doing.

I am not trying to lead you or preach to you, but it appears (to me) that you are sincerely searching for the church God would have you attend.

While most people would expectedly & rightfully so, promote their "church", I will refrain from doing that.
I agree with a lot of what you wrote above, having not been born, raised, or a resident of Nigeria myself, yet connecting with what you have said through my own past experiences.
So obviously, there is a universal problem within our Christian "churches"...albeit some very well-meaning.

What I would suggest, is that you sincerely pray (and fast for a period of time if necessary) to see what God would reveal to you..where would be the church you should attend.

There has to be a "needle within the haystack" there in Nigeria. A remnant...within the chaos and confusion...
I believe there is...God always has a "ram in the bush".
It is important for your spiritual growth to be with like-minded individuals, so do sincerely pray and expect an answer.
God has serious, sincere and "sola scriptura" rightfully interpreted Bible teaching people sprinkled throughout Nigeria. They are there...you just need guidance.
God delights in His children asking HIM for direction...
Watch and see the people He places in your path, confirmation through His Word, and peace in your spirit.

I have just exited a popular dangerous religious cult. Mind you, ardent members of this religion do not see the religion as I have just described it, and I personally didn't see it that way too for the many decades I was a member, but many outsiders recognise the religion for what it truly is - "a cult".

But I'm not about the religion at this time and do not intend to talk about them any further, unless it becomes very necessary for the purpose of perhaps warning unsuspecting others who do not see the wolf beneath the sheep covering. My goal is to find a church or Bible study group that is solely focused on the study of the Bible, that study the Bible "Exegetically" not "Eisegetically".

In case you are wondering what this two terms mean; Exegetical study of the Bible implies simply allowing the scripture to interpret itself, i.e. interpreting scriptures contextually, while Eisegetical study of the Bible is the process of interpreting scriptures in such a way as to introduce one's own presuppositions, agendas, or biases into the text.
The later unfortunately has been the preferred choice for most Christendom denominations, allowing them to distort scriptures to suite there personal, and sometimes selfish agendas and doctrines.

I have found many useful YouTube channels that teach the Bible Exegetically but that is not enough, it doesn't fill the need to gather together as instructed at Hebrews 10:23-25.

Therefore, I'm in search for any church or Bible study group that meets this criteria, no matter how small the group may be, and no matter how modest.

I know suggestions will be made about a great many known Churches we have in Nigeria, but i can tell you, I've checked-out and reseached a whole many of them; they study the Bible Eisegetically. In fact a lot of them do very little study of the Bible if at all. Sermons are based largely on emotionally charged stories of how success and wealth is indicative of God's blessing, and how suffering and poverty is indicative of God's denunciation, a notion that I can hardly trace to the scriptures. In most of these places, study and interpretation of scriptures is the exclusive preserve of the "man of God" and not the collective church.

Some might say, I'm searching for perfection, but far from it; what I'm looking for obtains in some other countries where the Christian religion is practiced and I believe there are perhaps a few here in Nigeria. Often, groups like this are not famous but they exist and I'm hoping to find one.

In the event that I'm unable to locate any such group, I may be open to joining other like minds in organising a Bible study group that can meet at least once a month for Bible study at an agreed location. So in case you're in my shoes and have unsuccessful in finding a church or group that meets your spiritual need and you're based in Abuja, you might indicate on this thread. But this option is only a plan B please.
