1. SOCIAL SCIENCE
2. HUMAN BEHAVIOUR
3. END
4. SCARCE MEANS
5. ALTERNATIVE USES.

We will dicuss this in my next post.

BRIEF HISTORY OF ECONOMICS

The field of economics came into being in 1776 following the first publication in this field by ADAM SMITH in a book he tittled "An Enquiry Into The Nature and Causes of Wealth of Nations".
For this reason, ADAM SMITH is called the FATHER OF ECONOMICS.

Any question so far?
Education / Re: Interactive Economics Lesson For 0-level Students/jambite by Jepsy: 8:38pm On Mar 11, 2016
ADAM SMITH
He defined economics as an ENQUIRY into the NATURE and CAUSES of Wealth of Nations.

JOHN MAYNARD KEYN
He defined economics as those HUMAN ACTIVITIES that is directed towards the CREATION, APPROPRIATION and ACCUMULATION of WEALTH, which are in line with custom and institution of the state.

ALFRED MARTIAL
He defined economics as the study of MANKIND in the ORDINARY BUSINESS of LIFE.

JOHN STAUT MILL
He defined economics as a science of CREATION and DISTRIBUTION of WEALTH.

LIONEL ROBBIN
He defined economics as a SOCIAL SCIENCE which study HUMAN BEHAVIOUR as a relationship between END and SCARCE MEANS which has ALTERNATIVE use.
(this is the most accepted definition of economics)

NOTE: You have to be able to defind it according to each of the economist above, so spend some time and commit it into your memory.

Business / Re: Why we won’t devalue naira – CBN by Jepsy: 8:23am On Jul 21, 2015
YourCoffin:

Yeah, even what you consider as 'simple' and 'normative' is relative. It doesn't look as such from where I'm sitting.
Actually, i am an economics student not yet economist. u may recall with me that in 1982 x president Shehu Shagari went to IMF (International Monetary Fund) to obtain a LOAN and one of the conditions for IMF to give Nigeria the loan was Devaluation of Naira by 60% (devaluation means that Our local commodities become cheap while that of foreign country using Dollar, Euro Pounds etc become costly remember Naira and Dollar is just a unite of measuremen that is y i used COMMODITIES) so you are right Naira was already devalued, but by 60%, the reason was to discourage Importation. So all the CBN governor is saying is that instead of devalueing Naira again, that he will make a law to stop importation of some commodities instead of reducing the value of naira again, and he had actually stoped it, now those commodities will be produce locally. so jargon means using economics terms but Mr Emefiere did not do that. i am jepsy50 on facebook u can add me up i hardly visit nairaland. bye.

These people should learn how to communicate in layman's terms. Even as educated as I seem to be, I'm grappling with this article.

A kind hearted economists should please break it down for us. Thanks.
I could not see any economics jargon there, just a simple explaination of normative statement
