The last two editions of Big Brother Naija reality show kicked off in January, but for some reason there's been an unusual silence about the show this year. LIB can now confirm that the show has been put on hold due to the forthcoming general elections in February. A highly placed source at Payporte (the official sponsors of the reality show) confirmed to LIB that, 'Big Brother will still hold but because its a political year, we can't really control to what extent what the housemates will say in the house and we dont want it to become a tool that will heat up the polity'. The source went on to add that, 'the show itself normally gets twisted so we don't want to mix it up with politics in anyway. Its supposed to be entertaining, we wouldn't want it to be divisive in anyway. If you notice, no religious activity gets discussed in the house too, if you want to pray you can pray, we don't want anyone to be forced to do it or divide Nigerians along those lines. So after the elections and inaugurations, it'll happen'. The last edition of the show kicked off on January 28, 2018 and wrapped up in April with Miracle Ikechukwu emerging winner of the hotly contested reality show. source: https://www.lindaikejisblog.com/2019/1/lib-exclusive-big-brother-naija-to-hold-after-2019-elections-and-inaugurations-2.html

What do you think of when you hear ‘Substance abuse’? Fear? Desire? Lust? Disgust? Blame? Shame? Hate? Nothing? Well, for some – loved ones we cherish, friends we could die for, family that we adore – it’s the beginning of the end. A woman told a heart rending story of how she lost her younger brother to addiction - ‘codeine diet’! We watched with our hands-on-heads and mouths-ajar as a friend showed us an Instagram video of a person whose journey to substance abuse had turned them into a spectacle! At every street corner, whether the rich people’s crescents or the not-so-rich backyard, there is a deal going down. Money is changing hands, some powdery substance, tablet, dried leaves or vials of medicine is being exchanged. Let's face it - it's everywhere o, and who’s going to stop it? Well, people are stepping up to the challenge. The MTN Foundation in collaboration with various stakeholders (such as the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Association of Community Pharmacists, Association of Psychiatrists of Nigeria, etc) just launched a project tagged ASAP (Anti-Substance Abuse Programme), on Wednesday, December 19th, 2018 in Lagos. ASAP is a multi-stakeholder intervention aimed at increasing awareness of substance abuse and addiction among youths. The goal of the programme is to discourage first-time usage and casual substance abuse nationwide. Lessons learnt from the press conference were simply mind boggling! You cannot begin to imagine the amount of substances people abuse - tyres, feaces, paint, glue?! The list is endless! L-R: (photo below) Rufai Oseni, Inspiration FM OAP, Advocate for mental wealth; Dr. Maymunah Kadiri, Consultant Neuro-Psychiatrist, MD, Pinnacle Medical Services and Taiwo Lateef Sheikh, President, Association of Psychiatrists in Nigeria, discussing urgent issues at the launch of the MTN Foundation multi-stakeholder Anti-Substance Abuse Programme (ASAP) on December 19th, 2018 in Lagos. It needs to stop, and it needs to stop now, which is why we are looking forward to everything on this ASAP initiative. There is a lot to learn and many ways to help. The world will know we did. The Department of Defense's chief of staff Rear Adm. Kevin Sweeney has resigned. Sweeney said in a brief statement that he planned to return to the private sector, giving no reason for his departure. His exit comes just days after Secretary of Defense James Mattis, for whom Sweeney previously served, left the agency after announcing his resignation earlier in the month. "After two years in the Pentagon, I've decided the time is right to return to the private sector. It has been an honor to serve again alongside the men and women of the Department of Defense," Sweeney said in his announcement. His resignation also followed that of another top Mattis ally, Pentagon spokeswoman Dana White, who announced her resignation at the end of December. “I appreciate the opportunity afforded to me by this administration to serve alongside Secretary Mattis, our Service members and all the civilians who support them. It has been my honor and privilege,” White wrote on Twitter last month. “Stay safe and God bless.” Mattis's resignation was thought to be tied to the surprise announcement from President Trump regarding the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Syria, where coalition forces continue to battle elements of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) on the ground. Trump's withdrawal of U.S. forces from Syria was also credited at the time with pushing the resignation of Brett McGurk, the president's top envoy to anti-ISIS coalition forces in the region. Mattis's former deputy, Patrick Shanahan, began serving as acting Defense secretary at the beginning of January. Funke Akindele's hubby, JJC has revealed that he had a dream in December 2012 that he would get married to the actress and 4-years later, in 2016 they got married in August. The couple recently welcomed twin boys in December 2018 and according to JJC, It's important to pay attention to your dreams because they could be telling you things you need to know. 'I have to testify. God is great. I had a dream one night around Christmas 2012 that I will be married to Funke Aakindele and believing in the mighty God I trust, I approached and she didn’t believe me. A week of romance Ended, we broke up and I wrote this song to send a message of what is to come. My God has never lied or lead me astray. A year later she had a calling to find me and so the story continues. The Master architect is at work'https://www.instagram.com/p/BsQ0GeqhUmA/?hl=en

R Kelly has been the subject of so much condemnation lately and with John Legend's criticism of the R&B legend in Lifetime’s new documentary, its been a downhill road for Kelly. Now, Joyner Lucas in a tweet reached out to R Kelly not to hurt himself in anyway. He wrote, 'I know this has to be one of the hardest patches in your life right now R Kelly. Im literally watching the entire world condemn you and turn they back on you. Im not saying you don’t deserve it. All I’m saying is please don’t hurt yourself or take yourself out. Id still be sad'.
