What is the Supreme Court of Nigeria Afraid of exactly? As of June 4, 2025, the supreme court of Nigeria has not yet scheduled a hearing date for the case filed by 11 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors challenging the federal government's declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State. The case, registered as SC/CV/329/2025, was expected to be addressed after the court's Easter recess, which concluded at the end of April. The lawsuit contests President Bola Tinubu's March 18 declaration of emergency rule in Rivers State, which involved suspending Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu, and all members of the State House of Assembly for six months. Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas was appointed as the Sole Administrator during this period. The PDP governors argue that these actions exceed the President's constitutional powers and undermine democratic federalism. Despite the urgency of the matter, the supreme court has yet to fix a hearing date, leading to criticism from civil rights groups like the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA), which accuses the court of stalling proceedings on this critical constitutional issue. |

Newsgeek24:Nawao they don turn this Governor to Zombie o. I pity Rivers State. |
Sec5:He is already a House Boy. Someone who does not even know his right and left. I pity Rivers people for this incompetency |

Bobloco:Wike can you listen to yourself? So you want your party to withdraw the State of Emergency Case before the Supreme Court so that the illegal and unconstitutional state capture will continue. But you forgot that if this illegality is allowed to stand, other Presidents that will take over from Tinubu will follow this precedents. |
christejames:Not only the judiciary but the entire system. Hoe can an election rigger still be occupying the number 3rd seat of the Federation. |
Mokwugwo1975:When is Supreme Court going to hear the State of Emergency case brought before it by the PDP Governors |
HedgesTV:Tinubu should declare a State of Emergency in this State because this Edo State Governor is the only Governor that supported the illegal State of Emergency declared in Rivers State |
ogododo:Tinubu we need State of Emergency in Abuja because no one is safe again. |
Maxymilliano:Tinubu declare a State of Emergency in Abuja because of the threat to lives and properties |

What about your Minister Wike? How can you suspend a democratically elected Governor whereas an appointed Minister is not suspended. We are watching. |

Sometimes I wonder if we still fearless Supreme Court Judges in Nigeria |
Truths9ja:Wike and Tinubu should be aware that Ijaw threat is not a love song o. They should know that a sitting President with military background (Rtd General for that matter) could not stop the wide fire of these Ijaw youths when it engulfed the entire Niger Delta Region until Late President Musa Yar'Adua declared amnesty. Let them leave Rivers State alone. We don't have any where to run to. They can run to some where ooooo. Pls leave the peace President Musa Yar'Adua engendered during his tenure please. |
naptu2:I hope Politicians too will not gather at a place to make noise in the name of campaigning |
OgundeleT:Where was the NJC when Buhari sacked the former Chief Justice of Nigeria? |
Following a petition from Governor Iormem Alia, the Benue Assembly recommended the removal of the Chief Judge, Justice Ikpambese. Gov Alia has been in a running battle with the SGF Akume over leadership of the Party structure in the State [But Buhari sacked the Chief Judge of Nigeria. And NJC did nothing] |
highchief1:Fubara was never a wrong pick. You see if God wants to deliver a nation or a state, he can even use the weakest to subdue the strongest. What you see in Rivers State is the answer to the prayers of the civil servants who were hitherto subjected to modern slavery. |
emekatex:Go to room 315 ministry of finance |
Chibuking81:Go to room 315 that's 3rd floor, Min. Of Finance |
alcaptainero:That's good observation. Even last month salary was paid selectively. A lot of civil servants attached to Ecobank are yet to receive their October salary. |
tonero263:How much enter on top na |
Jerrynet: |
chrissoki:You might be right but what can those of us who have been paid till now do expecially those of us with Ecobank. An official from the Min. Of Finance keep assuring us that the money will still drop. Pls help ur colleagues on how to go about it. Thanks |
chrissoki:Up till now many of us have not been paid. Ecobank keep telling us that the money government gave to them to pay was not enough to go round all staff. And that they are still expecting the next tranche to pay the remaining staff. Pls can someone direct us on what to do |
Why should we talk about the new minimum wage template in Rivers State when many of our colleagues have not been paid even up till now. Expecially those with Ecobank. |
Wike should be warned in opening of schools. Because no single public and private outside the state capital is observing any covid 19 protocols. No single handwashing materials, no sanitizer in any of these schools in the state. No social distancing, no wearing of face masks and no even staggered classes as of last month. I went through all the public and private primary and secondary schools in Okrika LGA, i didnt see any of these that i have just mentioned. Sp the Governor should be very careful |
Exodus 23:25-28 These verses could not be any more clearer to us that serving God is for our betterment and profit. Here are a few benefits of serving God. When you serve God, He will bless your bread and water He will take away sickness from your midst There will be no miscarriage There will be no barrenness There will be no premature death You will have long life and fulfill destiny Your enemies will turn away from you |
Any alert from Ecobank? |
