That phone number isnt going through. I need to make more enquiries. |
SunnyJose:Thanks |
Edemab:Two forms would be given to choose the state of your choice for redeployment. Those who redeploy on health ground would be called to defend their health status to certified doctors. If they believe you are truly ill, you will be redeployed to the state of your choice, but if not, you will be posted to whereever they like. |
PART 10 Thanking God for a successful and fun NYSC camp period. Thankful for the friends I made and the confidence i developed within myself. I got to meet a really new and stronger version of myself. Love everyone i met during my short stay at the OBS Dj-ing and even the doctors, pharmacists and nurse i met at the clinic while keeping you guys company/charging my phone/taking treatment for the malaria I developed. Love my room girls and it was fun being your room leader while it lasted. Shout out to the soldiers that made our stay miserable and fun. Shout out to my SAED colleagues and teacher in Interior and Exterior Decoration. A bigger shout out to my platoon members, I really loved and enjoyed you guys, Platoon 7 rocks. Shout out to the sun that made me blacker or those that i gave my special shoulder massage . If i were to repeat this camping period, i would, as long as there are cleaner toilets and we are allowed to wake up whenever we want . I have to admit, towards the end i did wish our time together would be extended . I love you all from the bottom of my heart. #NYSCCampADAMAWAInJALINGO |
PART 9 Finally in Lag right now. My redeployment worked I got redeployed to Lagos. I have to say, i do miss my camping days I had malaria, sore throat, cough, catarrh(only me ). So instead of going to parades early in the morning, i stayed back and slept away. One time, the female soldier saw me sleeping when she was searching the rooms, i told her i was sick and she told me to go to the clinic and stay there. Na so i dress and carry my things go clinic go lie down for the bed there. After three days (without going for parade) the malaria had subsided, i was feeling somewhat better. But that didnt stop me, i always stayed back during the parades with my drugs (wey i don already finish) on my bed just incase i get caught(make i know how i go formulate the lie). Most times in the morning i went to the clinic just for going sake or to charge my phone.Another thing that happened was that the sockets in the female hostels were turned off (See wahala). Well as a sharp girl, i couldnt let the extension i brought waste like that so i went to the OBS to charge my chargables. From charging at the OBS, I started doing some little Dj-ing I automatically became a "default" member of the OBS and it was really fun. Constant charging and all. Met some really lovely people there, it was fun while it lasted.Thirdly I became the room leader. It was a stressful piece of work. Female meeting all the time. I just tire for the whole thing. I also joined SAED(Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development) in Interior and Exterior Decoration. I decided to join this particular program cos i plan to open my own event planning company some time in the future. There were other types such as makeup, cateering, hair dressing, fashion designing, beads making, etc. It's not compulssory but i would advice one joins cos i learned a lot. And all at a token of #700 naira for registration and handout. There were lots of other events happening at that time. My platoon members went for man-o-war where we climed a tree, and crossed to another tree stepping on a single rope(lol!!! I wan die but it was really fun to do), we climbed nets, went under a barb wire and lots more. We did social events like cultural dancing and drama which each platoon participated in. My platoon's drama and dance was WACK, although i was part of the drummers but it was a major flop. We also had jean carnival where we were to wear jean and white top with a mask. For those who didnt have jean, they went to mammy to buy fake jeans for 2k. Can you imagine? I didnt even bother myself, i just wore the black trouser i had. The next day, we did camp fire night. Each platoon cooked food for their platoon. The camp provided us with raw meat and rice but it wasnt enough so we bought some other food stuffs from outside camp. After sweating in the kitchren and performing my tasting duties would you believe that the chicken didnt cross my lips. The camp officials who were supposed to only "taste" the food we presented decided to carry the whole tray of chicken. I just wanted to die. The next night we had our variety night which was sponsored by airtel. There were performances that were good and some that was a total joke, mr macho which was extremely fun to watch and laugh over , miss NYSC (one particular girl almost tripped and fell). I no fit laugh. The next night was OBS private party which i attended just for the peppersoup and vodka ![]() The next day was the D-day. We were to leave camp that day. And you wouldnt believe that some hadnt gotten their allowance including me And we now had to do the final parade for the governor's representative that same day. After waking up by 2am to submit my mattress and get the final clearance, i went to the point for the collection of allowee and stayed there for hours. The parade started really late in the afternoon. Those who hadnt collected allowee wasnt just in the mood at all. See constant running from parade ground to collection point. After the parade and long speech, they started giving allowance. Those that marched in the parade were given preferential treatment and lined up to collect first before others. Na for there i maneuver my small sef to that line o After everything sha, everyone was given that day. Then those who didnt redeployed went to collect their posting letter. Na so so school dem just post almost everyone to. As for me i went to check the redeployment list to see where i was posted to. My heart was beating so fast but lo and behold i saw Lagos. Mehn!!!! See rejoicing. I thank God for everything. I just carry my big box, boarded a keke and left that camp. I first branched to fairplus park to book for a ticket straight to Lag before going to stay in my friend's place at jalingo for the night. Travelled to Lag the next day and arrived the next morning. It was fun camping in jalingo. ![]() |

PART 8 It was indeed a TGIS. A truly blessed sunday. The day started out so perfect but ended in the worst way ever. From the beginning, i slept like never before(no waking up early,no parade, no nothing). Didnt even bother going to church. I slept till 8am, something i hadnt done in a very long time and it really felt good. Breakfast was bread with boiled egg and tea(as usual didnt bother taking tea). While others went to their various churches, i continued resting/sleeping(abeg i tire, God forgive me ). In the afternoon after church ended, lunch was rice and stew with FRIED CHICKEN(Omor!!! The chicken big die!) ). It felt like a vacation. After sleeping and waking up like four times, i went to watch my platoon girls compete with the other platoon in a game of volleyball. As i reach there i just hear say the other platoon don beat us tire. I no just bother myself to play. I just dey background dey laugh at mistakes dem dey make. At the end, they won us. I then transfer myself go football field to watch the match between my platoon guys and another platoon. On reaching there, we were leading with 2-1(what a relief! We are not complete losers after all ). The match ended with 2-1. We did our jubilation and all. For dinner, we had garri and egusi soup with fish. After i ate dinner, i heard that OBS organized a welcome party for corpers (welcome party kwa??!! After we don spend one week for camp ). Anyways i carry my two left legs to the hall, found a bench and yanshed down. Sleep full my eye but i was determined to see the end of it. The party started horribly. Lots of delays. Finally when party decided to start the first performer was called. Lol, the girl wey wan perform dey form Rihanna . The Dj played man down by rihanna with the lyrics playing loud while she murmured in the background(for the girl mind we be fools ).Trust Nigerian youths to laugh and boo her out of the stage . Second performer came up and was break dancing(or so he thought ). He moved liked someone convulsing . At a point, he somersaulted and landed with his neck on the floor almost breaking it He was booed away as usual. At this point i just dey wonder why i come this party. Third performer came and all the guys were cheering his name and for mind i thought he was going to be a great performer. For where!!! He was just a basketmouth wannabe. He was just saying jokes wey dry like stock fish. Kai menini!!! Warrisdis? The same guys who hailed him when he entered the stage were the first to sing, "rain rain go away, come again another day". Lmao, Nigerians are really wicked. As we dey peacefully boo the guy, the NYSC state coordinator entered(for my mind wettin this wan dey find for here , abi he miss road?). He said we should keep quiet that he wanted to talk to us. Trust guys! Dem still dey make noise for the other corner of the hall. He then ordered everyone at that corner(those included and those not included o) to come out and sit in front of the stage. Omor see silence. I just dey thank God say i no dey that corner . See falling of hand. He called an NYSC official to write their state code numbers. Chai!!! Even me com dey fear for dem sef. Everyone was seriously pissed. Wettin this man com find for here now The state coordinator started talking. He said that they(the officials and soldiers) have been playing with us too much that is why we are disobedient(Playing ke?! After collecting their state code numbers, the official began calling them out for them to show evidence that it was truly their numbers. Lol, Im pretty sure they didnt hexperrit . When half the number had been checked, it reached this guy's turn. His number was called but no one answered. All of a sudden this girl from outside run enter inside the hall come talk say na her number. Lol. See as people bust laugh . That guy wicked sha. She showed evidence that it was her number and that number was cancelled. They sha continued till they finished. Then the state coordinator turned to us to give us speech(Nna eh! Werrin this parry don turn into na? ). After the speech he just said, "this party is dismissed". Everyone just dey sigh and grumble as dem dey leave the hall. It was after 10pm by now. When i entered the hostel, see another para. The soldiers and man o war officials just come to show themselves. They just shouted and shouted that we should sleep(na my force again), they dont want to see anyone walking about(wettin com do the girls wey dey baff outside ni?) and they didnt want to hear any noise. Ok o. For my room, we just closed the doors so we go go sleep peacefully. Na im one girl just run enter inside. Omor see as the other girls wan chop am raw . They rake am no be small. "Is this your room?! Why do you want to implicate us?! U dey crase?! Why u enter here when dem dey pursue you?!" Lol . You wont belive the girl's answer. She said, "they are not pursuing me o, i just came to hide". Shuu!!! . Confusion scatter the babe's brain. Chaii!!! Laugh no gree me again. The girl by the door just rake the girl pursue am commot. Lol, at this point in time everyone na from 'OYO' state o. No time for implication when we no be 2face. Na bad samaritans we be o. We no send for that room. Mehn i love my room girls ![]() |
PART 7 You know once you are on this camp, TGIF basically becomes nonexistent. I'm patiently waiting for sunday so i can say TGIS. Heard that it's like a resting day. I'll be the judge of that.So far so good, it's been quite easy today. We did our normal morning routine. No excessive marching. It's now excessive lecturing but was too busy collecting filled forms from my platoon members. Right now we are planning the whole sport, drama and dancing team, pageantry, bonfire, etc. We have a lot on our hands. Anyways, i had enough time to rest. We were told to return by 4pm. Thank God. I just go sleep sharp sharp. Mehn the sleep sweet die. By 4pm we went to the parade ground to practice and was done within a short period. While some participated in marching, acting and dancing, i sat at one corner. No time! After practice, we all went to collect our #2500 allowance. I stood in the line for almost 90 minutes and when i was almost close to getting mine, they decided to close (you can imagine! ). Well, i was too tired to fetch water, so i paid one of the little boys #20 to help me fetch water which i used in taking my bath. Then went to mammy market with a male friend who bought food for me. The jollof rice was horrible! By 10:10pm, the whistle was blown for everyone to vacate mammy market. Na so i carry myself go o. As i reach hostel and changed to my night wear, see as one soldier enter female hostels blowing his whistle and as i heard beat one girl. The funny thing is that some girls were having their bath outside. As the shoutung continued, the block governor came to me (as the room leader) to give her the names of everyone in my room. See me see wahala. By 10;30pm!!! |
PART 6. Yesterday, Thursday started like every other day. I woke up by 3am and had my bath. Whistle was blown by 5:10am. I didnt wait to get pursued by soldiers so i just walked there myself. Around 5:30 we said a short prayer, sang the national and Nysc anthem, said the pledge, did our meditation and was done by 7:30am (Thank God for that ). We then started our exercise which was fun and also did a little marching. It ended by 8:35am so we went for breakfast which was the usual tea and bread. I decided to eat rice and stew with beef at mammy market instead. After breakfast by 9:45am, the whistle was blown for lecture. The lecture started by 10:20 to 2pm (Omor my yansh just dey pain me). We were lectured on HIV/AIDS, security, how to use a male and female condom(lwkmd ), etc. For lunch, garri and egusi soup was cooked. After lecture, i went to collect my redeployment form and spent the whole time filling it until we went to the parade ground by 4:15pm. We marched a little and was done by 5:45pm. Dinner was jollof rice and fish but i didnt eat that either. I drank ijebu garri and groundnut with milk and sugar. Was so tired that i couldnt gist y'all. So sorry about that. I just slept off immediately. |
PART 5 continuation As today was our swearing-in, the governor of Adamawa state was going to be present. We left to the parade ground by 10:15am. We formed a line in our various platoons and someone(cant remember who he was) came and apologized on behalf of the governor's office that the the governor would be running late. And We should wait on the parade ground a while.(Ahn ahn! Why we no fit go wait for our rooms ni? Mstchww). 10:15 turned to 11:15 which also turned to 12:15. Two hours of hanging around. Some sitting while some standing. I sat on a brick stone, slept briefly twice and woke again, yet no governor. My ass was burning like hell. Yes! Perharps if i told a soldier that i had to take my drugs by 1pm and it was in my room he would let me pass. As i was trying to perfect the lie, i looked up in the sky and there, a private jet passed over our heads heading for the airport close to the camp(first time i ever saw one so up close). Well no need lying seeing as the governor has arrived. Minutes passed and the governor never reach the parade ground. Kai menini!!! 2pm and we were asked to form our usual line. You wouldnt believe that the governor no even com sef. A representative was sent. So we basically spent hours waiting for a representive. If na d governor com dey show nko, na days we for wait. ![]() Well, we did the routine we had pracitced for the past two days, was addressed by the representative and then we swore in. By 3pm, the whole stuff had ended. We were allowed to leave but had to return by 5pm(Not again!!! For my mind i was like TGIR(Thank God it's raining ). We retired to our rooms, i took off my shoes and i just went straight into a deep sleep. The weather was so lovely. Cool and a lil bit dark.I woke up to a very mouth watering aroma. Looked around and saw one of my roomies eating rice and stew. Abeg na camp food be that? She said 'yes, i woke you up but you didnt answer'. Hmmmm i must have been sleeping like a log of wood. It was still raining so i took my umbrella(yes! I brought an umbrella. I always come prepared ) and went to the dining just to meet the longest queue ever. Shuu!!! Goodnight. |
PART 5 Today is gonna be a really long day. We are to swear-in today. That means hours of standing. When i woke up this morning, i had it in mind that i would be leaving the hostel by 8am according to the announcement made yesterday. But that wasnt the case. I woke up by 2am, had my bath and relaxed on my bed thinking i would have to go to the parade ground by 8am. Instead, a whistle was blown by 5:10am. I was so shocked By 5:15am we were already at the parade ground for meditation(I forgot meditation was every morning. I really need to read the timetable) and PRACTICE!!! My dreams of resting a few hours were dashed. By 7am we were done with the practice and was told to pick trash from some parts of the camp including the parade ground. Chai!!! Lord have mercy. We picked for about thirty minutes and then went back to our various hostels. We got dressed to our khaki outfits in preparation for the swearing-in. Now im on my bed gisting y'all while waiting to be chased by soldiers. ![]() |
PART 4 So sorry for not writing last night. I was so tired. Plus network dey f**k up for this side. Well, yesterday, i woke up by 1am as usual. After having my bath, i was shaking like a lunatic. Later, soldiers came to chase us from our hostels to the parade ground for meditation and practice. By 5:30am!!! You wont believe what these cooks decided to give us. Brown water (tea) and moulded flour(that they called bread). After that excessive practice we just did, tea and bread?! O boy, i carry myself go mammy right away and ate rice and confam palm oil stew with meat. After that, went to my room to rest. Gosh!!! My legs ached like never before. I fell into a deep sleep in a matter of seconds.By almost 11am, my friend woke me up to wear my shoes. Bia! Na only me come dey the hostel. Everyone else had already gone and they didnt wake me. Witchcraft and wickedness. Smh. Soldiers were going from room to room. I was almost caught but God win i ran very quickly. At the parade ground, i was just yawning and yawning. I was feeling really sleepy. We repeated the same routine till after 12pm. That was a huge relief!!! Just one hour but we were to return by 4pm. Lunch was yam porridge that i wasnt interested in. So i decided to go open a bank account, which i did with Ecobank. By 4pm, we went to the parade ground for the final practice of the day. We practiced till after 6pm and was ordered to come to the parade ground by 8am wearing our khaki outfit the following day for our swearing-in. At night, dinner was tuwo and okro soup with a piece of meat. I have never eaten tuwo before in my life. But it was ok. Those that werent on time had the "privilege" of eating bread and okro cos the tuwo had finished. Those that came later took bread and meat. Lol. I no fit laugh Well, i then retired to my bed after. |
PART 3 continuation As we squated, the soldier asked us why we were here? For my mind i just be like, "shuu!!! wettin pesin dey do for mammy market ni ". Anyho to cut long story short, he punished us cos according to him we were slim fitting our khaki while a "supposed" parade (that we werent INFORMED about) was going on. From that very point he asked us to "double up!"(run). Omor see different Usain Bolt sha. After we went to our hostels to change, dem no even give us time sef. Dem just bust the doors like Rambo, screaming and banging things. See another second lap of running. At the parade ground we went to our stationed platoons and formed three lines. As for me ,front line no go see me even as i small reach. We were given a little orientation by Last Cobra Franklyn(or so I think his name is). This guy just dey address us with names like baggar, cockroach, mumu corpers, otondo, monkey, white tolotolo, etc. Omor see names. Every platoon did punishment at some point when he asked us his name and we didnt know it. But he is a funny guy in general though. Then time for marching. Ghen ghen!!! We literally marched for like 4 hours ,standing under the hot sun screaming "hurray!, Yes sir!, We b mumu corpers!" Ehnnn i no just fit laugh. That pounded yam i swallow really sustain me. But see girls fainting, even the ones wey real o and ones wey dey fake. I be wan faint my own then one soldier talk say those with medical issues wont march but do sanitary duties. For where!!! I rather march than wash any mumu toilet, thank you. After getting there by like 2pm, they now decided to let us go by around 6pm. Chai!!! I couldnt even walk to my room. For some reason i had strength to wash my shoes and clean my corner in my room.Later in the evening we were called for dinner. Saltless jollof rice and fish was what we ate. I didnt even finish mine. Then i trekked all the way to male hostel just to fetch water for bathing. The water situation here is terrible. Still had to stand in a long queue for my turn to fetch water. Well i sha had my bath, laid on my bed and started gisting y'all my Part 3. |
PART 3 Like the pains i felt on my legs yesterday werent enough, these soldiers decided to add more pains by making us stand under the hot sun for hard labor, screaming 'sir yes sir!!!' and marching like i registered to join the Nigerian army and not NYSC. Right now i just feel complete numbness on my legs. E be like say blood no dey flow again. Well, from the beginning, after sleeping last night like a dead person (so much so that i didnt even hear the bell ring), the bunker by my side woke me up to take my bath. BY 2AM!!! ). Then went to bed for a quick nap only to be awoken by around 5am or was it 4am? Well i didnt check the time cos i was too busy rushing after i was told that we had to pack our belongings and go outside the gate to be addressed. I packed then went outside(good news:those who came a day before got to keep the positions we spent the night in). When we were outside the gate, the state coordinator and some soldiers gave their semi long speech while we stood(beginning of the leg ache), then our bags were searched one by one for contrabands like knives, forks, etc. Before i travelled to the camp, I heard that extensions were not allowed(but they had just one charging point on every side of wall. That is four in a room of about 30 girls). See talk o! I sha jejely carried my extension and hid it in a hidden compartment of my box. I no fit shout. After the searching and we entered the camp, registration started. Time for another queuing As for the khaki, i went to mammy market to get them slim fitted for #1500 (I never start to dey vex). While they sewed, i just went to go and chop better pounded yam with vegetable and egusi soup for #300. This food cool my temper small Then i went back to the tailor to test the cloth. While doing so, this soldier just came from nowhere. He shouted at the top of his Hausa accent voice, "All corpers file outside now". Omor no b small fear catch me o Still wearing my khaki i file outside. He told us to form a line of threes and squat. See punishment. And for wat![]() Im so tired abeg. Will continue later. ![]() |
PART 2 So im in camp at this very moment.( Thank God for a safe journey). I woke up by 4am on saturday and got ready. By 5am i headed for iddo bustop(using the cab i chattered the previous day). After boarding the bus, we left at exactly 6:30am. It was the longest journey i have ever experienced. My legs ached trying to figure out different positions to sleep. They still feel sore right now. The driver made three stops for resting and eating. By 3pm we were already at awka, by 4pm Enugu. I slept so many times in the bus i cant even begin to say the time we reached different states. But when we reached Benue,i just wanted to die. I had no frigging idea it was so huge. I slept like over three times and woke up yet we were still in Benue. I just thought the driver was going round and round in Benue. At a point the driver just had to stop and rest(our second stop). Mehn did i feel like killing myself at that point. It was so cold, windy and dusty even with the windows closed. Anyways through all and all we reached the camp by 3:30am(the first driver switched with another driver who drove all night). Approximately a 21 hour journey. After much talk with the gateman he opened the gate. Finally!!! I screamed with my inside voice. I literally flew from the bus just to get down. I had had just about enough of sitting down. Those who took the second bus were already inside(appparently their driver passed us). We went inside to look for a place to sleep. Due to the fact that orientation doesnt start until Monday, there were no mattresses except for the three that were already being used by other corpers. So we headed to an empty hall where we sat at different places. I sat on a photocopy machine, others generator, floor, etc. I couldnt even get enough sleep cos i was so uncomfortable. By 5am it was already getting bright. I was so surprised(not used to it being bright by that hour). Later i went to take a look around and I must say i wasnt impressed at all. The toilets are nothing to talk home about, there is no water and electricity. I had to go and buy pure water which i used to have my bath. You know, dont get me wrong, the camp is ok in terms of the building and all but it lacked serious maintenance. Everywhere was just filled with dust and webs and trash. This camp was just overrated by my friends who stayed here during stream one. Well i was already getting hungry so i and two other guys went to mammy market. Only a few marketers were around cos the others decided to resume on Monday. I ate an 'ok tasting' jollof rice and meat for #250. When we got back we found out they were giving mattresses to those who submitted the photocopy of their call up letter. Sharply I went to submit mine, chose a volumptous mattress and headed to the rooms given to us temporarily where I stay to write to you guys. ![]() |
[color=#000099]Hey everyone. ![]() I have decided to use this platform to share my day to day activities in camp which is to start by Monday June 13th. So after days of prayer and fasting(j.k about the fasting ) to not get posted to the North, i was posted to the worst(in terms of insecurity) of all Norths,Adamawa. As some of you know, camping is taking place at Jalingo, Taraba state(my nickname literally changed from jessiliciousjes to Tarabs baby) . To some this may come as a relief but to me, not one bit. Im based in Lagos state and finished tertiary school from Nnamdi Azikwe university, Awka, Anambra state(in da East!!). I basically have no freaking idea how to get to the North. Mehnn was I depressed.Well as long as google dey alive, there is always a solution. So i started googling how to get to Tarabs(that is what i call Taraba) from lagos. I was directed to so many articles, mostly some in nairaland though. I read about one transportation company that conveyed corpers from lag to tarabs, but at the end of the article, the writer wasnt so pleased about the company and instead referred readers to use fair plus, young shall grow, samfan and one other one that i cant remember due to the fact that the one he entered was way expensive. So again i googled fairplus and found their website which was really helpful by the way, i made a call to the company to find out about the price which was surprisingly 9k. That is the good news. The bad news is that it is over a day journey To cut long stories short i googled some more and read other people's experiences and came to a final conclusion that the journey would be safe afterall(by the grace of God). I also made more enquiries about the camp from two of my friends who also camped there in the stream 1 set and they were like it's really cool and fun and kindda new(well..... when i get there i will confirm). Then just a day before camping, Nysc postponed the orientation date which was by the way a HUGE inconvenince seeing as i've already gotten prepared (did my hair and shii). Well, no wahala na. It actually gave me more time to prepare. Finally a new date was set, so i decided to go to park to see what it was like. Fairplus park is located beside Iddo busstop just afer oyingbo. I was coming from mile 2 so I took a bus to oshodi underbridge and boarded another bus going to oyingbo. I got there and booked for my seat which was still 9k and will have to be there by 6am on the day i travel. Anyho, as we all know orientation starts on monday but i will be travelling saturday(day after tomorrow to get there on sunday) just to be in camp on time. Apparently, corpers coming from a far distance can sleep over in camp(or so i was told). For those of you located in lag and camping in tarabs, holla me. Stay glued for more updates. ![]() Till next time......caio |
