According to a BloomBerg report of March 21 2021 by Ruth Olurounbi,

Nigeria Unemployment Rate Rises to 33%, Second Highest on Global List. Jobless rate increased to 33.3% in the fourth quarter. More than half of labor force are unemployed or underemployed. A third of the 69.7 million-strong labor force in Nigeria either did nothing or worked for less than 20 hours a week, making them unemployed, according to the Nigerian definition. Another 15.9 million worked less than 40 hours a week, making them underemployed.

If you are young and fall within the workforce, ask yourself which category do you belong, unemployed or underemployed?

Now let's be honest, how many times have you submitted CVs and apply to jobs on Facebook without success. The truth is most companies don't have vacancies. In fact they are looking for ways to laid off staff. Also, most of the jobs you see on Facebook with high salary were posted by recruitment agency looking for individuals to enslave.

So, the question is what is the way forward?

For me the best way to overcome this is to have a skill that is sellable online.

In May 2021, a Mercer study found that 70% of companies said they were planning to adopt the hybrid model offline and online workers. Many companies have already made the switch, including prominent brands such as Adobe, Salesforce, Spotify, and Twitter. And Microsoft’s Work Trend Index (published in March 2021) found that 66% of employers around the world are redesigning their workplaces to accommodate hybrid work arrangements.

The bottom line is that companies have realized that physically being at the office full-time isn’t necessary to produce great results.

Employees are eager to continue working remotely or hybrid too. According to FlexJobs’ 10th Annual Survey (conducted between July and August 2021), 58% of respondents report wanting to be full-time remote employees post-pandemic, while 39% want a hybrid work environment. That’s an astounding 97% of workers who desire some form of remote work!

So the message is remote work and online freelancing jobs are gaining traction and only those who are prepared will survive in the nearest future. This opportunity has opened a unique window for people from developing countries to tap into global workforce from their current location. Many companies also provide relocation option for their remote workers if they desire.
So if you currently don't have a sellable skill online, it is time to acquire one!

In this thread, I will be posting platforms with opportunity for those with skills for remote or freelance hiring. I will also be sharing information on why you should start thinking about remote jobs opportunity.

Also, if you have any question about making money online through remote work or freelancing, PM me. Stay tuned.

IF YOU READ THE ENTIRE POST TO THIS STAGE, IT MEANS YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED!

There are millions of Virtual Tasks online to keep you busy. And if you can spare few hours a week, you can earn decent income more than some cooperate workers. Covid experience has also forced many companies to move most of their administrative tasks under remote works.
But the question is how do you get started?

Last year, I spent over $1000 hiring people on Upwork for a project mostly Indians. Some of the tasks I hire people for are virtual assistance jobs that an average computer user can undertake. Others are professional tasks that a person can master in three months of training. With my experience as a client on Upwork, I decided to try my hand on freelancing.

If you are a Nigerian looking for online income opportunity in 2022, becoming a Shopify Expert/Developer, SEO Specialist and Virtual Assistant is one sure bet.

This course will be part of the Wacademy Freelancers & Remote Workers Crowdfunding Bootcamp to build a community of 10000 developers and professionals in Nigeria who earn an average of $50000 annually.

If you want to make it to the first 50 members of this community as a foundation members for the program, download the program proposal.

To secure your spot comment I am interested and download the proposal from the Facebook group in the signature or text your Nairaland username to the WhatsApp number in my signature

Webmasters / Re: I Am A Pharmacy Student Struggling To Break Into The World Of Coding by jetroolowole(m): 2:54pm On May 24, 2021
Send me a private message. I'll give you an invite to my upcoming Wacademy center.
I'll walk you through the process of creating real life application.
austinceasar:
I am a pharmacy student who is struggling to break into the world of programming...I have downloaded and studied lot of videos on YouTube and i do make use of the free lessons offered by freecodecamp. But all the hours i've put into learning how to code seems to been in vain, as I can't apply most things I've learnt to do something remarkable in real life. I'm sincerely appealing to a programmer who will like to take me under his wings as an apprentice.

I will fovever be grateful for the guidance.

Celebrities / Re: Bolaji Amusan 'Mr Latin' Throwback Photo In London 2004 (Pix) by jetroolowole(m): 3:34pm On Jan 28, 2021
That was his first movie I watched and still remember most of the scene. I think back then I watched it more than 5 times because it was fun
Zoharariel:
The only Yoruba Movie I love so much is TALONGBEMU (Who dey carry nose).

It was released in 2001 and I think it was the first major production of Mr. Latin (Not Sure).

Around 2006, I went to Eko Idumota and rumaged through the entire Movie Section at (Ebinpejo Lane or so) looking for this movie and I couldn't get it.

Well, I stopped watching Yoruba Movies long time ago since they only promote Cultism, Oloshoism, Armed-Robbery & other useless societal vices but - there can never be any Yoruba Movie as interesting & funny as TALONGBEMU BABA ONI WAIDI.

Mr. Latin, if you're seeing this, kindly make TALONGBEMU available for us.

Sports / Re: Cristiano Ronaldo Becomes The All-Time Leading Goalscorer In Football History by jetroolowole(m): 8:00am On Jan 21, 2021
Ronaldo goals carry more weight given that he has played in different clubs. Considering all the time he need to settle down to understand his team mates and still be able to put this numbers together. Compared that with Messi who has remained in one club and played with the same set of players for almost a decade.
omonla10:
he is at best, on same scoring level to Messi, or even a step lower.. Check out their goals per game ratio to separate facts from emotions
