I like to ask a few questions especially as regards interpretation. My mummy's interview is coming up in two weeks and she would need an interpreter. Does the embassy provide this service by default? Or do I have to mention somewhere in the application that we need an interpreter?

Embassy provides interpreter upon request at the interview.

1. Although , the pick up can be reroute to Lagos without any issues but ' never say never ' accident , negligence, political delay, weather etc , therefore, Abuja pick up would be the fastest.
I would rather have Mama flew to Abuja once and for all. USA VISA pick up is worth traveling to London for 😊

1. First, you will have to track Mama's VISA status in order to double sure. This is the USA Embassy's website to check VISA status :

2. Upon reconfirmation, you will then proceeded to the new Pick Up/Delivery company code- named " OIS which is now the official errand-boy for USA embassy.

PS: You will have to register officially for Mama and choose your service preferences. There is a customer support option on OIS where you can narrate your wants.

First time applicant...

There were quite a few screening points and give me your passport please (I think 3 or 4) that I didn't even realise that the interview started. Thought she was just going to look at the passport and give me back to go to another queue.
I was already at 3rd question before I realized this is the interview.



VO: Can I have your passport please?
My Response: [/b]ofcourse, here you go.

[b]VO: Have you ever travelled out of Nigeria?
My Response: yes. I just returned from Togo last week. I have also been to Senegal, Kenya, Tanzania

VO: I see here that you studied in the UK?
My Response: Yes (I forgot to mention that one... lol! It was at this point I realized this is the interview) (the nerve kicked in)

VO: What do you do
My Response: I work with xyz company

VO: Yes, but as what?
My Response: I work as xxxx ( I thought I messed up for not answering the question asked directly)

VO: what is the purpose of your visit to the United States
My Response: I'm traveling to the US for holidays

VO: where will you be visiting in the US
My Response: I will be arriving in Los Angeles and joining my brother in Utah

VO: do you have a sibling in the US
My Response: Yes, my brother is in Utah

VO: is he a permanent residence in the US?
My Response: No, he is a student.

Typing some more.....

VO: pulls out white paper. Ok, I am approving your visa, you can pick up your passport........
My Response: thank you.

She didn't ask for any proof.

As I was stepping out all the 5 people that followed me had pink paper.

Not to mock people but to show my gratitude first to God and to all the responses and experiences shared in this group.
Less I forget, my passport has a Canada visit visa affix.

My DS 160 had arrival in Philadelphia but I couldn't update it before the website change. I took both old DS160 forms with me... old one had Pennsylvania while new one has Utah as address in the US...
No question was raised about that.

Came to share my US visa story in case it helps anyone. I applied since last year March, but got a date for 24th September 2024. I was fine because I didn’t have a pressing issue in the US, until an important work event came up that needed me to be in the US September 19th. Tried using an agent and didn’t succeed in changing the date, then this new platform was created and nothing was happening for some weeks. Finally I was onboarded to the usvisaappt. Once I was onboarded, I saw the option to book an emergency appointment and used this. I explained the emergency, and included a letter from my organization explaining the importance of my being in the US.

Two days later, I checked my usvisappt and I saw that emergency dates had opened up to me. I now had the option to pick a date throughout last week and this week. I picked Tuesday 10th of September. My appointment letter was saying emergency appointment. Mind you, they never sent me an email to say that the emergency appointment request had been approved (not in spam too). I was lucky I checked.

When I went for my interview, the people validating documents at the entrance knew that I was the person coming for an emergency appointment. My appointment was for 11AM. I got there at 10AM and was allowed in. There were no queues and I didn’t see a lot of people in the embassy.

The VO asked me some questions around the work I do, flipped my passport a lot looking at the stamps I’ve gotten previously. I even came with plenty letters from my office, bank statement etc. and he didn’t request any at all. He asked me if I’m married or have kids and I said no — I guess he was trying to ascertain family ties.

He then smiled and gave me the white slip, and said this document contains information on how you will get your passport back as soon as it’s ready. I said thank you and left.

Hello everyone .. my parents will be having their interview next week. I have made their appointment since year 2022. I just updated their DS160 but I am having issues logging into https://portal.ustraveldocs.com/ to update the DS160 profile number on their schedule.

Is anyone also having issues with the date scheduling website ? I would appreciate any assistance i can get on this.

I have also emailed the embassy but no response.

There’s a new website. usvisaappt.com. You should have received something in your email by now to create a new profile on the new website. Check your spam if you haven’t.
