I want to say a big thank you to the entire members of this house, you might not understand the strength of this forum nor the impact and influence it has over some of us.
I and my family arrived New York on the 10th of Oct. and moved to Virgina on the 14th, it has been a wonderful experience and I'm grateful to most of you.
My family is settling in so seamlessly, my kids are already asking me they hope we're not going back anytime soon and I totally understand their fears.... Life here is so good and organized and I think it's best for kids.

Congratulations brother!!! go to the nearest SSN office and register for you and every member of your fam. It takes 5working days for your SSN to arrive in your mail after registration here in Chicago, I don't know of Virginia!

I have told you and even posted official links from kcc to support that whatever information about ur dob can't be changed. And for ur friends that claim to be in the usa saying that dob can be changed that implies that they aren't in the usa because if they are they will know the implication of dob. Let me explain dob to you. If Mr H p k applies for dv with a dob of 1.01 .11. ,he can change his name to Mr H P k L with the same dob 1.01.11 .he can claim he has additional name . But if he changes his dob to 1.12.12 and says he made a mistake there is no way he will be given the visa because it means there are 2 different persons . Before u submit any form always make sure you take ur time and fill everything out correctly

The link you posted is far from reality. DV process is not as strict as that link implies in real life scenarios before dv 2015 upward i bet you, cos i think there are lil' changes now!(Electronic form filling to KCC now i guess).

ur dv lottery visa application process starts the very moment you apply to play,once ur dv application is in ur visa processing has started. Let me ask u a question ,if u submit a normal visa form which isn't dv to the us embassy in nigeria can you present another dob on ur passport on the interview day and claim u made a mistake when filling the online form?

Answer this simple questions please Sir.

1. Have you played DV lottery b4?

2. If yes, Did you win?

3. Have you in anyway helped in filling DV forms or encountered it? be it relations,close friends etc etc.

4. Have gone tru d 4 walls of a DV lottery program? e.g correspondence with KCC, interview @ d embassy etc etc!

Please Sir just answer with all simplicity and lets put this argument to bed.

Like someone above posted, I salute your patience jigga40. I understand how painful it is when someone tries to discredit an information you have firsthand. At a point I was getting pissed by Mr. Moderator's remarks. I'm also a dv2014 winner so there will be no point arguing with someone who hasn't followed or understands the process. Now to the origin of the argument. Funny enough the person on whose behalf we are arguing didn't even respond, he sure knows there's no point. There's a town called ile oluji in ondo state,rumour has it that they have the highest number of dv lottery winners, and most times the winners are youth corpers whose information was got from their year book. Mr Justwise to me seems not to be well ground on the issue of dv lottery.

My brother i tire o i swear. I read dv2013 thread from page 0 to 800, I actively participated on dv2014 thread, Advised pple,help with forms filling,tackled problems,followed members progress,met some members face to face,had correspondence with KCC, had convo with VO and someone will tell me i don't know ish about DV?

They wont ask you not to adjust your DOB but their system is there to stop you and use your application fee to plant flowers.
I thought you said you just won the lottery yourself. There are some mistakes that are pardonable and while others are not.
Also, bear it in mind that most times these folks see us as fraud except proven otherwise. Why is it that when applicants adjust their status to include their spouses, they tend to grill them? Your DOB change is enough reason to deny applicants bro. We are talking to about lottery bro.

Nice write up. Relocating to another environment is not always fun. new experience, different culture, learning new things everyday, challenges and pressures of changing your job etc but if you are focused and positive minded, you can cross the hurdle.

Sir, the only mistake that are not pardonable are wrong PHOTO, PLAYING AS SINGLE WHEN YOU ARE ACTUALLY MARRIED, NOT LISTING ALL YOU FAMILY MEMBERS(spouse and children)

DOB is absolutely pardonable, You can NEVER be DENIED visa based on wrong DOB on ur original/initial entry. Go and ask Visaofficer.

Absolutely wrong! i know someone with wrong DOB 1974 and corrected it to 1984 before interview! Got his visa approved without stress! right now he is chilling in Texas! matter of fact we spoke 3days ago...TRUTH!!!

Not necessarily forgetfulness! most times its just honest mistake from applicants or sometimes agent! KCC understands this mistakes and they tell you to correct it with ds 230 and 122 forms respectively without problems

I repeat you can NEVER be penalized for wrong DOB at the initial entry!

You cant change your DOB through KCC or at the embassy and scale through the lottery process.Never!!!!Someone can get some of your information thru the year book and apply for you but i am so sure that the person will give you all those information which can either enable you to adjust to whatever details he might have used earlier. Guys, JB will not tell you guys in details what actually hapenned but his story can be genuine. Quote my anywhere, DOB is one of the most important safeguard built around the lotterry process by (KCC).

And for the record, I was with someone that won DV 2015 some minutes ago (here in South Africa) and is correcting the DOB of his wife and that of his last son and will send the updated info to KCC via email cos everything is now being submitted online unlike before where winners have to send them thru postal mail.

So guys guys, YOU CAN CHANGE YOUR BIOGRAPHICAL INFO WHILE FILLING THE DS260 FORM AND SENDING THE UPDATED INFO TO KCC BEFORE YOUR INTERVIEW IS SCHEDULED. YOU CANNOT HOWEVER CHANGED YOUR INFO WHEN YOU HAVE SUBMITTED YOUR IMMIGRANT FORM TO KCC AND YOUR CASE IS CURRENT. YOU MAY HOWEVER ADD NEW EVENT SUCH AS WHEN YOU HAVE A NEW CHILD OR GOT MARRIED!!

Can you post the link where V/O tacked change of DOB? Name is different, but DOB is constant.

I can't remember the pages exactly and you know nairaland lost data few months ago so i can't pinpoint the exact page!You can just read it tru @ ur own time just to educate yourself!

lemme break it down to you how this works....After you av bin randomly selected for further processing I.e winning the lottery,(This is after the initial entry)

The next thing is to fill forms called ds 230 and 122 which is to b sent back to KCC. at this stage you are entitled to make corrections on whatever mistake you made on the initial entry eg DOB,PLACE OF BIRTH,NAME ETC ETC! The new forms with the correct infos will be added to your case/file immediately it get there and this is what they will reckon with @ the embassy because you have made corrections or adjustments!

After visa approval @ the embassy, the DOB,NAME,PLACE OF BIRTH etc etc on your visa/your info on their record will definitely be the right one you corrected/adjusted and not the same one on the initial entry!

Your infos will be changed according to the last one you updated before your interview....This happened to some pple on 2014 dv thread and VO can also confirm this too!

Most times it comes from agents carelessness or mistakes...sometimes it might be a honest mistake from the same person! KCC totally understands all this so dis is y dey giv you the opportunity to make adjustments/corrections when sending the second forms to them!!!
