Akposkool: This is unfair. Seyi shay is actually one of the few ladies in nigeria who sings well. Its a pity we patronize the noise makers like yemi alade and cynthia morgan. Seyi shay can sing forget her looks. She is just like niyola, they may not be so fine but damn they can sing and meaningful songs i tell you. Listen to niyola's track title 'my body' or Seyi shay's murda. Those are great songs and i don't see her copying anyone. She is just trying to bring the foreign style and i love her for that. Looks are nothing else kurt zouma will be playing football in kenya league and not chelsea. It's a pity that the breed of good singers in this country is dying and instead of us appreciating the few left, we ridicule them. Well said... but Seyi Shay & Niyola are beautiful... |

DNBCrew: Thanks for the enlightenment OP. I think market service is the drive. Each class to their own markets. But it's sometimes funny when we seeing advanced and complicated stories like Joy, Scandal, The Revenant, How To Get A Way With Murder, Scandal, etc, Nollywood is busy churning out Royal Princess season1-15. abi oo |

OKorowanta: Social media and dia craze sef. Anybody in his/her right senses saying Seyi Shay is not up there with the A-list artiste is day dreaming. Had an endorsement deal wit Etisalat,Endorsed by Genevieve magazine, endorsed by Pepsi through her career, even got signed on by an international label in UK,Island records last year and u are here writing this? U call this a mean feat? She doesn't even need to be successful like Rihanna to count God blessings in her life. For 20 minutes performance,my boss company paid her N500,000 in 2014 alongside other top acts and countless other shows she gets involve in and u are here writing rubbish! From una phone una go just dey write rubbish to deceive pipo. Do u know millions of musicians who are just praying to be signed on? Na wa for una sha. |

babatundeizbad: Whoever wrote this article is on point. The only reason I find time to watch The Breakfast Club is cos of Charlamagne The God, that guy ask the biggest stars all the controversial questions. Whoever tries that here is going to be really huge. They are all just following the trend and playing it safe... Stupid. |

UIA04: It is very common in naija even psquare did a lot of copying both lyrics and beats on their first album It's as a result of the everyman for himself mentality in the music industry in Nigeria. Abroad a lot of money is pumped into a potentially good artist with the best producers songwriters at his feet how will there not be innovation |

Celebrities › New Cinema Nollywood Versus Asaba Nollywood by jiggaz(op): 11:13pm On Jan 27, 2016 |
I have noticed a trend now in Nollywood... There is the normal Nollywood Asaba / Enugu movies that everyone knows and the The New Nollywood ( as they call it ). The New Nollywood is made up of movies that are shot that can be shown in the Cinemas in contrast to the Asaba movies that are mostly home videos.
With the advent of the New Cinema Nollywood, also comes new actors from that sector. The only person i seem to know his name there is O.C Ukeje... there are others i have to Google cos of this article a) Okey Uzoeshi b ) I.K Ogbonna c) Kenneth Okolie d) Alex Ekubo etc.... them plenty oo. The New Nollywood Cinema movies have better locations, better script and technicals but most times their actors are mechanical, they can't really act.
These new Nollywood Cinema Actors are not known, though they act movies that are mostly shown at the Cinemas. I also noticed that their stardom seems to end on the Island ( Victoria Island - Lekki - Ikoyi - VGC axis ). They are known mostly to Ajebutter crowds... Mainland Lagos areas like Mushin, Okoko, Oshodi etc don't really know them. Also the rest of Nigeria.
Now coming to Asaba Movie Actors, thatz where the real money & fame are made. The movies might not be fantastic and all that, with crappy storylines, but that's the Nollywood that is known all over Africa and beyond. It has produced top movie stars like Genevieve Nnaji, Omotola Ekeinde, Patience Ozokwor, Pete Edochie, Rita Dominic, Jim Iyke, Oge Okoye, Ramsey Noah, Mercy Johnson, Queen Nwokoye, Nonso Diobi, Mike Ezuruonye etc... These Asaba movie actors shoot like 3 movies at a go in one week, with their fee averaging N500,000 per movie depending on how hot the actor is. Although some of them dont shoot Asaba movies anymore e.g Genevieve Nnaji, Omotola Ekeinde, Stephanie Okereke... but majority still act in those movies cos thats where the fame and money is....
You can imagine someone like Ini Edo still acts Asaba movies upon all her money. Ebube Nwagbo too.... Why i said this is because even the so-called posh Cinema Nollywood actors wishes to act in Asaba movies to get the nationwide fame and money too. The Cinema movies will only get you instagram hype & AMVCA Nomination but the real money is not there. How many times do they shoot Cinema movies in a year? Mostly once a month or once in 3 months. So for those actors, what will they be doing in between shoots, hunger go kill dem nah....
This is my observation. Rita Dominic's producer and partner for all her Cinema movies tweeted on Twitter that she will do everything within her power to feature Queen Nwokoye in one of her Cinema movies becos of her outstanding talent. But she has to queue up cos Queen is an extremely busy actress now, producers book her in advance. Thats the power of being Hot in the industry.
