marcopollo:My brother please don't argue with those people cos they will argue with you from now till eternity. I met them here on Religious section last year and we argued till i had to tell all of them off my threads in a harsh way. They are the modern day Pharisees who think they are helping God by mixing Grace with The Law!!! Can you imagine? These same set of people, if they see the law in its pure form, they will run!!! They thought the law is the ten commandments? No way!!! The Law was up to 600+ including the Torah!! The Jews couldn't keep it!!! And they think they can? I laugh at them in Swahili!!! The Law was not made for man to keep cos no one can keep the Law except God Almighty.... The Israelites asked for the Law to be given to them and with pride too, thinking they can keep it but no way!!! Immediately they were given the Law, the next thing we see is the GOLDEN CALF!!! They broke the 1st Commandment immediately!!! It is written that the STRENGTH OF SIN IS THE LAW!!!! But Grace and Truth came through CHRIST.... The day the Law was given to the Jews, 3,000 people died at Mount Sinai, while the day the Holy Spirit came upon the Apostles at the Pentecost ( which the day The Grace Age started ) 3,000 people were saved!!!! Grace and Truth came through CHRIST!!! And His Grace is 100% !!! No mixture with the Law... They forgot that Salvation is 100% God & 0% man..... But no, they want to partake in the glory by thinking they have a hand in saving themselves by keeping parts of the law!!! I laugh at them my brother,cos the devil is really dancing makossa with them. They don't have an assurance of Salvation and they are always scared they might lose it, which is what the devil really wants.... I came to know the truth about the REAL GOSPEL OF CHRIST last year and i was liberated from Guilt & condemnation!!! I became aware of who i am in CHRIST!!! Before i used to feel condemned as a believer cos they say if we still have a spot in our lives that they will go to Hell!!! 2012 was the worst year of my life cos that was the peak of it.... it was during the time of one sister from Ibadan dat said she died and was taken to hell, that the majority of pastors and believers were in hell for one sin or the other. Even my pastor capitalised on it and was always condemning we the members every Sunday, that we will go to hell if we don't take time. I was soo depressed that time and was so angry with God for creating me, when he knew he will still send me to hell even as a believer!!! I was even asking God what's the essence of sending CHRIST if His death wont save those that believe in Him? My brother, i was so depressed and was fed up with life. Anytime i hear of the Rapture, my mind will fly.. At a time, i started envying animals like Goats & chickens cos they don't have soul, dat if they die, they just go out of existence!!! lool. It was that bad for me then. I didn't know i was tied deep in religion ( Christianity is not a religion, its a relationship with God ) and doing dead works of the flesh ( trying to save myself, still i didn't measure up ), thinking i can make merits with God!!! Ignorance is a disease!!! lol. Until last year, my sister gave me some video messages of Pastor JOSEPH PRINCE!!! ( He's a popular Pastor from Singapore that preaches pure unadulterated Grace of God ) i listened to them and i was transformed!!! I now know that God loves me even when i was dead in my sins, He sent His son Jesus to die for me!!! I couldn't believe it!!! i was sooo Happy and i learnt sooo much about the finished work of CHRIST.... My faith has soo much increased in CHRIST and His finished work.... My life changed for the best... Things are now moving on well with me, though i don't have all my needs met but i am still sooo Happy knowing that God's love for me is unconditional. I can't wait for the Rapture to come, i am sooo longing to meet with my Saviour Jesus CHRIST... i am not scared of Rapture anymore cos its our Blessed Hope!!! I am not a saint, i still sin cos i am still in this fallen body until i get my redemption body at the Rapture!!! But i am the righteousness of God in CHRIST.... The devil is sooo scared of the message of Grace and thats why He will fight tooth and nail to suppress it!!! He knows that if every Christian should know the Real Gospel of CHRIST ( the message of His Abundance of grace ) he ll be powerless in a believers life. That's why he fights it by coming as a religious spirit in the form of Christians to tell you, "yes we know that we are saved by grace through faith, but we have to still keep the law cos faith without works is dead ".... my brother, thats the devil speaking through them!!! But they don't know!! lol. Leave them my brother, you know the truth and it has set you free.... And i am glad that the body of CHRIST all over the world are now beginning to know the pure unadulterated grace of God through CHRIST!!! The knowledge is spreading... So my brother, leave these religious people on nairaland, they will realise their mistake later. I am now sooo grounded in the real gospel of CHRIST that no Grace + Works doctrine can move me anymore!!!! Jesus CHRIST is my only Redeemer!!! I only focus on him. |

A Bible Study by Jack Kelley In this study, we’re going to deal with a new definition that’s coming into the Christian lexicon. The word being re-defined is overcomer and the new definition is that an overcomer is someone who lives a Christ-like life, as opposed to just believing in Him. They have died to self and now live a life that’s holy and blameless. Some who embrace this definition claim that only those who meet its requirements will become the Bride of Christ. All other believers will still go in the rapture but will spend the millennium in the “outer darkness” learning the sanctification that they failed to learn on Earth, so they’ll be ready for eternity when the 1000 years are over. Others say those who aren’t overcomers will be left behind at the pre-trib rapture, to endure part or all of the end times judgments as a way of purifying themselves. The fact that the Bible never uses the word in this context doesn’t seem to be a problem for advocates of this new definition. It’s like the word repent, which is never used in the Bible to describe a change in behavior, only a change of mind. Because that definition is never taught, most people don’t know its real meaning and believe it means to change one’s behavior. The common understanding of overcomer is facing the same future. But to set the record straight, let’s see just how the Bible does define an overcomer. The word overcome first appears in connection with believers in John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Even though this world isn’t a perfect place, we can have peace in our lives knowing that Jesus has overcome the world. No matter how bad life is for us here, in Christ we’re assured of a better one to come. Jesus is the overcomer, and He told us this to encourage us. (Imagine how you’d feel about this word of encouragement if you arrived in Heaven only to discover that you had to complete a 1000 year indoctrination program before you were deemed worthy for the Kingdom. Or worse yet, learned after it was too late to do anything about it that you failed to qualify for the rapture.) Paul said that we should overcome evil with good. (Romans 12:21 ) But while he admonished us over and over again to go beyond salvation and achieve victory over the sin nature in order to win the crowns available to us for doing so, he never once said that our participation in the kingdom depends on it. Of all the New Testament writers, John used the word most often, saying that those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God are overcomers. I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God lives in you, and you have overcome the evil one. (1 John 2:14 ) Every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. (1 John 4:3-4 ) Everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. (1 John 5:4-5 ) We’ve overcome the evil one, the spirit of anti-Christ, and the world, and how did we do that? Through faith, by believing that Jesus is the Son of God. As is always the case, it’s our faith that makes us appear holy and blameless not our behavior, which could never qualify us. In Rev. 2-3 the word is used in each of the seven letters to churches to describe those who resist or reject the religious sin for which the church is being criticized and/or remain true to the gospel. Overcomers In Ephesus Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love. Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God. (Rev. 2:4-5,7 ) By the end of the first century the Church had already become busy doing religious works. They had forgotten that the work was already done and our primary purpose is to worship the Lord and give Him thanks. The relationship He gave His life to have with us was already becoming another religion. Those who changed their attitude and overcame the human tendency to earn our position with God, and rested in the fact that Jesus did it all would meet Him at the Tree of life in paradise. The overcomer was the one who rested in faith and worshiped God. Overcomers In Smyrna Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes will not be hurt at all by the second death. (Rev. 2:10 ) History tells us the ten days referred to here are the reign of 10 Caesars, which lasted for 250 years, through the third Century. During this time Christians were persecuted relentlessly. Many were called upon to give their lives for their faith. The Lord offered no escape from this except that which comes from death. But those who remained faithful in believing His promise of everlasting life, received it. The overcomer died in faith and received life. Overcomers In Pergamum Nevertheless, I have a few things against you: You have people there who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to entice the Israelites to sin by eating food sacrificed to idols and by committing sexual immorality. Likewise you also have those who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans. Repent therefore! Otherwise, I will soon come to you and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give him a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to him who receives it. (Rev. 2:14-17 ) In the 4th Century the church was married to the pagan Babylonian religion, and practices that were not only un-Biblical but detestable to the Lord became common. The Lord threatened to fight these practices with the sword of His Mouth, which is his Word. The overcomers were those who stayed true to the unadulterated Gospel and lived by faith in its promises. They received the Bread of Life, and a token that would commend them to the Father in the name of the Son. Overcomers In Thyatira Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols. I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling. So I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways. I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds. Now I say to the rest of you in Thyatira, to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets (I will not impose any other burden on you): Only hold on to what you have until I come. To him who overcomes and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations . (Rev. 2:20-26 ) The illicit marriage of the Church to Babylon produced four children, all alive on Earth today. Thyatira represents the Catholic Church, the first child. It became wealthy by confiscating property through false accusation, like Jezebel had, and also instituted the sale of indulgences that authorized licentious practices for a fee. But to those who hold Jesus in their hearts and reject the traditions that would add to what He accomplished on the cross, Jesus promises salvation. They haven’t learned Satan’s secrets of Jesus plus Mary, Grace plus works, Scripture plus sacraments, and have overcome, living by faith alone . Overcomers In Sardis Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your deeds complete in the sight of my God. Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; obey it, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you. Yet you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes. They will walk with me, dressed in white, for they are worthy. He who overcomes will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out his name from the book of life, but will acknowledge his name before my Father and his angels. (Rev. 3:2-5 ) The Protestant Church, represented by Sardis, carried out the Lord’s threat to judge the Church’s practices by the Sword of His Mouth. The call of the reformation was “Sola fides (only through faith), sola gratia (Only by grace), solus Christus (only with Christ), and sola Scriptura (Only His Word).” For the first time, the Bible was available to all who could read it. Great seminaries were founded to teach pastors the Word of God. But into these seminaries the devil crept, and the authority of God’s word was challenged. It was all in the name of intellectualism so it was thought to be good, but soon the Gospel had been robbed of its power, the light of faith had gone out, the Spirit was quenched, and the people had been lulled to sleep. Many still are asleep, but there are a few who remember the Gospel and cling to it. They’ve repented of the Documentary Hypothesis, Modern Rationalism, and all the rest. They’ve overcome what Walter Martin called the Cult of Liberalism and have retained the power of the Gospel. They’ve been washed in the Blood of the Lamb and been given clean clothes. Their names have been written in the Lamb’s Book of Life, and He will never blot them out. Overcomers In Philadelphia I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name. Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come upon the whole world to test those who live on the earth. I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown. Him who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will he leave it. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on him my new name. (Rev. 3:8,10-12 ) “Hold on to what you have,” the Lord commands the Evangelical Church, “because I’m coming soon. And because you’ve waited patiently for me, I’ll keep you from the hour of trial that’s going to test the whole world.” And what do we have to hold on to? We have His Word, His name, and His promise. He’s coming soon. There are 5 crowns mentioned in the New Testament, to which believers should aspire. But here the Lord mentioned only one. Which one? I think it’s the one described in 2 Tim. 4:8 , the Crown of Righteousness, for those who’ve longed for His appearance. Who but the Bible believing, prophecy studying Evangelical Church can even qualify for this crown, and which one is more descriptive of the yearning in our hearts? Overcomers In Laodicea I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne. (Rev. 3:15-16-20-21 ). Here’s the fourth child, the End Times Apostate Church. Prosperous and in need of nothing. They like to call themselves followers of Christ, not just believers, and the focus is definitely on doing. Hardly anyone hears His knock on the door, which means He’s standing outside trying to get in. Some will overcome this mad rush to conquer a world beyond saving, in the name of a Jesus many of them don’t know, in the hope of accomplishing something He doesn’t want. To those who hear the knock and invite Him into their heart to kindle the fires of faith, He will give the right to sit with Him on his throne. These seven letters give us seven examples to show that we overcome by faith alone. From the church in Ephesus we see that we overcome by worshiping the Lord and thanking Him for doing all the work of our salvation. From Smyrna we see that it’s by remaining faithful to the point of death that we overcome and receive life. The overcomers in Pergamum rejected the pagan rituals of Babylon that obscure and pervert the Gospel Story. Those in Thyatira refused to add to the simplicity of gospel, while in Sardis they refused to let its power be taken away. Overcomers in Philadelphia hold on to His Name, His Word and His Promise, and Laodicean overcomers listen for His knock at the door, and open their hearts to him when they hear it. While it’s God’s will that we be conformed to the image of Christ in our behavior, and that we go beyond salvation to achieve victory, it’s clear from Scripture that we overcome by clinging tenaciously to our child-like faith in the Lord’s completed work on the cross. The seven churches were just that, churches. Yet for the most part they introduced gospel obscuring, faith destroying doctrines that over the generations have kept untold millions off the path to eternal life. Only those who overcome by faith survive. He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life. He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son.” (Rev. 21:6-7 ) The Book of Revelation ends as it began, by telling us that eternal life is provided without cost to those who walk by faith in Him alone, believing that the work is done, that the Lord is the beginning and the end of their quest for eternity. For those who don't know OSAS means ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED or Eternal Security as it appears in this article.... A Bible Study by Jack Kelley I keep getting questions from people who wonder if Rev. 3:5 denies OSAS. Usually these questions come from folks who believe in OSAS but have had Rev. 3:5 used against them by those who don’t. They write in hoping I’ll have an answer that will confirm their belief and that they can also use to defend it the next time they are confronted with this verse. I’ve answered the question several times and posted my answer on our “Ask A Bible Teacher” page but I’ve never devoted a whole article to it. When I got the question again this week, I decided to offer an expanded answer. This would be a good time for us to remember that the Bible, being the Word of God, cannot contradict itself. Therefore, when there are multiple verses in support of a position it’s a mistake to think any other verse could negate that position, even if at first glance it seems to be contradictory. Instead we should look more closely at the “contradictory” verse to see where we’ve misunderstood it. Where OSAS is concerned there are multiple clear verses that support it. John 6:37-40, John 10:27-30, Romans 8:38-39, 2 Cor. 1:21-22, Ephes. 1:13-14 are good examples. Therefore, our goal in reviewing Rev. 3:1-6 is to see where those who believe that it contradicts OSAS have misunderstood it. Let’s begin with some background on the Book of Life, mentioned in Rev. 3:5 , because that’s what the deniers focus on. They claim that the Lord’s promise never to blot out the name of the overcomer means He can blot out the name of those who are not overcomers. Therefore a person can lose his or her salvation for failing to overcome. (For a complete study on what it means to be an overcomer read “Who Are the Overcomers?” ) The Bible actually speaks of two similar books, a Book of Life and a Lamb’s Book of Life, and only the Book of Life appears in Rev. 3:5 so we’ll start with it. The Book Of Life According to Ps. 139:16 all the days ordained for us were written in the Book of Life before one of them came to be. Most scholars take that to mean that the names of everyone ever born are written in the Book of Life. The first mention of the Book of Life (literally Book of the Living) is in Exodus 32 where the Lord threatened to destroy all the Israelites because of the Golden Calf rebellion (Ex. 32:10 ). Moses made intercession for them, asking the Lord to forgive the sins of the people, but if He was not willing He should blot Moses out of the book instead of them ( Ex. 32:32 ). Moses was offering to be eternally banned from the Lord’s presence for the sins of the people. It was an incredible thing for him to offer and in some ways it was a preview of what Jesus would later do for all of mankind. The Lord said instead of destroying them all right then He would delay their ultimate punishment until a future time. But when that time came He would blot out the names of all who had sinned against Him (Ex. 32:33-34 ). That tells us the names of those who sin against God can be blotted out of the Book of Life. In Judaism it’s believed that this book is opened and updated every year during the 10 days leading up to Yom Kippur. During that time the people try to right all the wrongs they’ve done in the previous year through repentance, prayer, and good deeds. They do this in the hope that their names will be inscribed in the book of life for another year before it’s sealed on Yom Kippur. A traditional blessing among Jewish people during this time of year is, “May you be inscribed and sealed for a good year.” The Lamb ’ s Book Of Life In Rev. 13:8 we’re introduced to another Book of Life, this one belonging to the Lamb who was slain from the foundation of the world. In this verse John said all those who dwell upon the Earth will worship the anti-Christ, whose names are not written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Peter confirms the Lamb is Jesus, so the Lamb’s Book of Life appears to be the registry of the Church, rescued from the time and place of the End times judgments ( 1 Thes. 1:10 ). Some translations of Rev. 13:8 indicate the Lamb’s Book of Life was written from the creation of the world. If so, it means the name of every member of the Church was known to God and inscribed there at that time. God could do this because He knows the end from the beginning. (Paul mentioned God’s foreknowledge in Romans 8:29 .) Since the Church is promised the blessing of eternal security, if it was possible to blot anyone’s name out of the Lamb’s Book of Life, it would mean that God had made a mistake in putting it there in the first place. Of course, God could not make such a mistake. Rev. 21:27 says only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life can live in the New Jerusalem. In my opinion, that means the New Jerusalem is the exclusive home of the Church. It contains the mansions Jesus has been preparing for us in His Father’s house (John 14:2-3 ). Rev. 13:8 and Rev. 21:27 are the Bible’s only references to The Lamb’s Book of Life. Some have expressed the opinion that since post rapture believers are also saved by the Lamb, their names should be in the Lamb’s Book of Life as well. But the fact is that every saved person in history, whether from the Old Testament or New, owes his or her salvation to the Lord for His substitutionary death on our behalf. After all, it was a once for all time sacrifice (Hebr. 10:12 ). And of all the saints, only the ones from the Church Age are unique. We alone are promised membership in God’s family (John 1:12-13 ), eternal security ( Ephes. 1:13-14 ) salvation by grace through faith alone ( Ephes. 2:8-9 ), a seat at the Lord’s side in the heavenly realms (Ephes 2:6 ), a joint inheritance with Him (Romans 8:17 ), and a home in the New Jerusalem ( Rev. 21:27 ). If the Lamb’s Book of Life is for every believer there would be no need for it, because every believer’s name will appear in the Book of Life. With that background lets take a look at Rev. 3:1-6 . The Letter To The Church At Sardis “To the angel of the church in Sardis write: These are the words of him who holds the seven spirits of God and the seven stars. I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead. Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have found your deeds unfinished in the sight of my God. Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; hold it fast, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you. Yet you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes. They will walk with me, dressed in white, for they are worthy. The one who overcomes will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out the name of that person from the book of life, but will acknowledge that name before my Father and his angels. Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. There are three details that give us the context of this letter. First of all notice that the Lord refers to His coming to them (2nd Coming), not for them (Rapture). Then we see that He is talking about the Book of Life and not the Lamb’s Book of Life. Finally, he said only a few in that church had not soiled their clothes and would walk with Him dressed in white. (When used symbolically, clothing represents our righteousness. Isaiah 61:10, Isaiah 64:6 are examples. Having soiled clothing means their righteousness is not sufficient to dwell with God. This is what Jesus meant when He said their deeds were unfinished. That means only a few from the Church in Sardis will qualify for the rapture. He was talking to the others when He warned them to wake up, remember what they have received and heard (the Gospel) and repent (change their minds about needing a savior). Otherwise they will not know when He is coming and could miss their last chance to be saved. These details tell us that although He’s speaking to a church, for the most part the people in it don’t belong to The Church. If they did, He would have referred to the Lamb’s Book of Life, which contains only born again believers, He would have said He was coming for them in the rapture, and He would have said they would all walk with Him and be dressed in white. (In Ephesians 5:25-27 the Lord described the Church as being radiant, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.) Who Are These People ? When viewed in the order in which they appear, the seven churches of Rev. 2-3 provide an overview of Church history. By the particular way in which the Lord described them, we can see the apostolic church in the letter to Ephesus, the church of the persecution in Smyrna, the church that was merged with the pagan Roman system in Pergamum, the Roman Catholic church in Thyatira, the protestant church in Sardis, the evangelical church in Philadelphia, and the apostate church in Laodicea. Of the seven churches, Ephesus, Smyrna, and Pergamum are gone, but Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea are still represented as the end of the age approaches. Sardis represents the church of the reformation, which grew into the main line denominations of today. Only a few are born again and will be raptured. These are the ones who have not soiled their clothes and are worthy to walk with Him. But those who overcome during the end times judgments will still be able to enter eternity with Him. In all seven letters to overcome means to remain true to the simple Gospel; believing Jesus died for our sins and rose again, without adding to or subtracting from it. When Jesus said the church in Sardis had a reputation of being alive but was really dead, He was accusing them of having subtracted so much from the gospel that what’s left is no longer sufficient to save them. This is certainly true of the liberal denominations, who believe people are saved just by joining their church. But by reading their Bibles people in these churches can easily find out the truth about what it takes to be saved ( 1 Cor. 15:1-4 ). What ’ s It All About ? From this we can see that Rev. 3:1-6 is a letter to protestant church goers, not to born again believers. In it the Lord was admonishing the majority to do what the few had done, and remember what they had originally been taught. The five “solas” of the reformation summarized the original theology of the reformers. Sola fides, faith alone; Sola Scriptura, Scripture alone; Solus Christus, Christ alone; Sola gratia, grace alone; Soli Dia gloria, to the Glory of God alone. These five solas were the reformers rebuttal to the Catholic Church and its extra-biblical traditions. This is what they taught, this is what the protestant church originally received and heard, and this is what Jesus was admonishing them to remember. They need to hold fast to the five solas and change their minds about their current non-biblical theology. Now we can see that Rev. 3:1-6 is not about eternal security at all. It’s about reminding people who aren’t saved in the first place to remember what the reformation originally stood for, and return to what they had received and heard. Doing this is how they’ll avoid having their name blotted out of the book. Since there’s no mention of the Lamb’s Book of Life it appears that the ultimate recipients of this warning will be those who are left behind when the true Church is taken in the rapture. Failing to heed the Lord’s warning could leave them in a bad way at the second Coming. Four times in the Olivet Discourse the Lord said people on Earth at the time will not know the day or hour of His return (Matt. 24:36, Matt. 24:42-44, Matt. 24:50, Matt. 25:13 ). He warned the church in Sardis of the same thing. They run the risk of realizing after it’s too late that they’ve missed their chance. I believe this is what Jesus meant when He said, “At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky and all the nations of the Earth will mourn. They will see the Son of man coming on the clouds with power and great glory” (Matt. 24:30 ). The nations (people) will mourn because they will realize that what they heard about Jesus is true. He is coming to judge the world and it will be too late for them. They will have been caught on the wrong side of the most important decision of their lives. If you have friends and loved ones in the same state as the church in Sardis, please warn them what’s at stake once again. There is one mistake some Christians make today which should be corrected. It is about living a fruitful life as a Believer in CHRIST. Mind you, Salvation in CHRIST is only by Grace through faith in CHRIST... nothing more nothing less. The reason Apostle Paul admonishes us believers to be living a fruitful life as evidence of our Salvation is not because we would lose our Salvation but its only because of our relationship with people. Now some or most Christians have termed living a Sacrificial life as the ideal Christian life which is to produce fruits but they got it all wrong..... Look at the explanation below. Living a “sacrificial life” is not the same as being fruitful. To sacrifice is to give up something for nothing, like the lambs did on the altar. They received no benefit from it. The notion that Christians have to live sacrificial lives is man’s idea, not God’s. Jesus said that He came so that we could have an abundant life, not a sacrificial one. (John 10:10 ) Christians aren’t asked to give up something for nothing. No one who is truly walking with the Lord thinks of it as a sacrifice, he thinks of it as a greater blessing than anything he could have otherwise received. People who take pride in living a sacrificial life are missing the point, and by denying themselves the things they secretly still want (it wouldn’t be a sacrifice if they didn’t), they not only aren’t producing any fruit, they may just be performing works of the flesh. The high rate of conversion to Christianity in India, China & Asian countries is nothing but the work of God. There is an outpouring of the Holy Spirit and many testify of Jesus CHRIST visiting them in their dreams to tell them who He really is. This is nothing but God gathering His last set of people in areas where Christianity is not yet mature. Hindu politicians in India are scared and they asking the government to stop people converting to Christianity cos they fear that in few years time, Christianity & Islam will supersede Hinduism in India. Most of the converts to Christianity in India are Evangelical or Pentecostal Christians... There are Catholics & Anglicans too, i don't discriminate against anyone, they are all my brothers in CHRIST. Reports from India says that the Holy Spirit is really working mightily in Indian churches through signs & wonders irrespective of the denomination, be it Catholic, Anglican or Pentecostal..... The current Christian population in India now is over 300 Million people!!! Hallelujah!!! Jesus CHRIST is winning!!!! Most Christians in China & The Middle East, most times do not identify with any Church cos of persecution. A Bible Study by Jack Kelley Jesus said to them , “I tell you the truth, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. (Matt. 19:28 ) He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new.” Then He said, “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End.” (Rev. 21:5-6 ) The end times judgments will be devastating in the extreme, and the Lord warned that if He didn’t bring them to a close at the appointed time, not a single soul would survive (Matt. 24:22 ). But for the sake of the elect, He will bring them to a close and when He does the restoration of Earth will begin. I believe one of the ancillary functions of the end times judgments will be to begin the process of returning Earth to the condition it was in just after the creation. It’s as if the Great Tribulation is the demolition phase of the restoration. This is hinted at by phrases like “every island fled away and the mountains could not be found” (Rev. 16:20 ) and “there was no longer any sea” (Rev. 21:1 ). And speaking of the Lord’s current whereabouts, Peter told the people, He must remain in heaven until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets. (Acts 3:21 ) Comparing verses like these with the return of long life spans indicated in Isaiah 65:20 , I think most of the present seas will either return to their underground origins or rise into the upper atmosphere to re-establish the water vapor canopy that once surrounded Earth (Gen. 1:6-7 ) and helped enable the long pre-flood lives. The desert and the parched land will be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and blossom. Like the crocus, it will burst into bloom; it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy. The glory of Lebanon will be given to it, the splendor of Carmel and Sharon; they will see the glory of the LORD, the splendor of our God. The burning sand will become a pool, the thirsty ground bubbling springs. In the haunts where jackals once lay, grass and reeds and papyrus will grow (Isaiah 35:1-2, 7 ). I will make rivers flow on barren heights, and springs within the valleys. I will turn the desert into pools of water, and the parched ground into springs. I will put in the desert the cedar and the acacia, the myrtle and the olive. I will set pines in the wasteland, the fir and the cypress together, so that people may see and know, may consider and understand, that the hand of the LORD has done this, that the Holy One of Israel has created it.( Isaiah 41:18-20 ) The mountains will be lowered, and the sea floor elevated. Streams and rivers will flow through lands that have been parched for thousands of years. The great desserts will become verdant plains again. The current tilt of the Earth’s axis causes extreme differences in the world’s weather and makes large areas uninhabitable. I believe this will be corrected at the time of the 2nd Coming. The axis will become upright again and the year shortened to its original 360 days. Earth will once again enjoy a world wide sub-tropical climate like it did before Adam lost it and the terrible effects of sin were loosed upon it. This is something the creation has been waiting for ever since. The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. (Romans 8:19-21 ) And this restoration won’t be limited to the Earth alone. A massive spontaneous healing will correct all the imperfections of fallen mankind. But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall (Malachi 4:2 ). The eyes of the blind will be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped. The lame will leap like a deer and the mute tongue will shout for joy (Isaiah 35:7 ) When the Lord returns in glory the wait will be over, and soon afterward the creation will once again resemble a lush garden. He will make her deserts like Eden, her waste lands like the garden of the Lord (Isaiah 51:3 ). Some people are troubled by all this because they’re so in love with the creation as it currently appears. I remember reading about a person asking God to leave her behind at the rapture because she can’t imagine anything being more beautiful than this present Earth, not even Heaven. People like this are limited in their thinking. They’re basing the future on the past instead of on the promises of God. They don’t stop to think that if the Earth is this beautiful while under a curse how much more so will it be when the curse is lifted and it’s restored to its original condition? In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am (John 14:2-3 ). Besides, people who think like this don’t realize that the Lord has spent the last 2,000 years “preparing a place for us” in His Father’s house. He’s not coming back to be with us here where we are, He’s coming back to take us there to be with Him where He is. The Church will no longer call Earth home but will dwell with Him in His Father’s house. Do these folks really think that after the rapture, when we see all eternity spread out before us, we’ll be disappointed with our future and long to return to this fallen creation? But our focus here is the restoration of Planet Earth, where Israel will once again be the most favored nation. One of the clues we get that the Kingdom Age on Earth features Israel and not the Gentile nations, or even the Church, is that almost all of its descriptive passages are in the Old Testament, and for the most part center around Israel. From them we learn of the desert bursting into bloom (Isaiah 35:1-2 ), of the land being so fertile that before they can complete the harvest it will be time to begin planting again (Amos 9:13 ). Peace will flow like a river and the wealth of the nations like a flooding stream (Isaiah 66:12 ). In Jerusalem men and women of ripe old age will sit in streets filled with playing children (Zechariah 8:4-5 ). And in the country side, “Every man will sit under his own vine and under his own fig tree, and no one will make them afraid, for the LORD Almighty has spoken.” (Micah 4:4 ) Peace will prevail in the animal kingdom as well. Predators and prey will live side by side, and their young will lie down together, all of them existing in perfect harmony with each other and with mankind again (Isaiah 11:6-8 ). This will be another reversal of a post-flood condition, when fear and dread of man fell upon all the beasts of the earth and the birds of the air (Gen. 9:2-3 ). And so the time of restoration will have come, and in every way Earth will be like it was in the beginning. Where ever one goes there will be peace on Earth and good will toward men, like the angel Gabriel promised to the shepherds so long ago. The Lord Himself will rule, and people will come from all over the world to learn from Him. The mountain of the LORD’s temple will be established as chief among the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and all nations will stream to it. Many peoples will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths.” The law (Torah) will go out from Zion, the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. (Isaiah 2:2-4 ) But like it has always been, the seed of rebellion will still reside in the heart of natural man. He’ll be given every conceivable advantage in this, his last best chance to live in peace with God. But within a generation or two that seed will begin to germinate as the children of Tribulation survivors come of age. Some will choose to follow their parents to the foot of the cross and receive their personal redemption. But with each generation an increasing number won’t. This will happen even though Satan will be bound, the Lord Himself will be their King, and God’s Law will be their law. You see, there is no condition or circumstance that will allow natural man with his sin nature to live in peace with God. As the end of the Millennial Kingdom Age approaches, unbelievers will vastly out number believers again, especially among the nations. When Satan is released they will rise up as one and march across the breadth of the Earth to surround the camp of God’s people and the city He loves in a final attempt to kick the Lord off the planet. But fire from Heaven will devour them, and Satan will be captured again, this time to be thrown into the lake of fire forever. (Rev. 20:9-10 ) After the Millennium, God and man will enjoy a new beginning, called Eternity. We’re not given any information about this because the Bible effectively ends at the end of the Millennium. A careful reading shows that in Rev. 20 , John skipped ahead after verse six to describe the final destinies of Satan and all unbelievers while he was on the subject. (Rev. 20:7-15 ) Then in Rev. 21:1-27 he went back to the beginning of the Millennium to show us the New Jerusalem, and in Rev. 22:1-5 gave us a glimpse of Millennial life on Earth. We know this because Rev. 21:1 is a direct quote from Isaiah 65:17 where the context is the Kingdom age in Israel and Rev. 22:1-2 is a summary of Ezekiel 47:1-12 , also a millennial passage. As part of the Church we’ll effectively have a head start on Eternity, as will resurrected believers from both Old Testament times and Daniel’s 70th Week. But we’ll have to wait at least until the rapture to see what it’s going to be like. All we know for now is that it’ll be the greatest adventure ever designed for mankind, and we’ll be first line when the time comes to begin enjoying it. For some time i have been worried about people in Asian countries that are not Christians, i always worry about their eternal destiny cos China & India has the biggest population in the world. China is 2.5 Billion and India is 1.2 Billion...
