Best sounds from the East !! |
In 2010, Sierra Leone producer and director Jimmy Bangura had this to say about the Sierra Leonean movie industry: “In few years, people won’t be talking about Hollywood, Bollywood or Nollywood. People will be talking about Sollywood in Sierra Leone”. The experienced film maker has successfully produced and directed a few movies that have been screened on Africa’s popular television stations like DSTV and MNET. His films have also been screened on Sky Television. He was also at one time reported to have lured A-List Nollywood actor Ramsey Nouah to partake in a Sollywood movie. He has also reached out to other African countries’ film stars to help grow Sollywood, casting them in roles in his films. Also for a long while now, there have been questions raised about why the South African film industry has not join the big movie-making business with their own South African stories and movie industry. But finally in the same year 2010, Actor and Director Tiro Venter and producer) Inda Khumalo, decided to take on the challenge. They succeeded in making a huge budget movie. To avoid piracy, the movie was available exclusively at www.sollywood.co.za, Hence the creation and registration of South Africa’s Sollywood. Since then not much has been heard of both film industries, and non has been able to meet or measure up to the standards of Nigeria's Nollywood nor Ghana’s Ghollywood. But the question remains which of these is recognized as the legitimate Sollywood internationally? Jimmy Bangura, Sierra Leonean Producer Tiro Venter, South African Producer. I was shocked the day i came across these ''Woods'' that exists in Africa!!! Lmaoo!! I mean, i taught we have only Nollywood in Africa, i know of Ghollywood from Ghana too. But u cant imagine my shock when i discovered dat Sierra Leone calls their movie industry ''Sollywood'', Cameroon calls their own ''Collywood'', Tanzania calls theirs ''Tollywood'', Malawi ''Mollywood'' & Kenya ''Riverwood''. Wahala dey oo. It was not even Nigerians dat named our movie industry ''Nollywood''. It was named by some Americans doing a research on the Nigerian Movie Industry back in the day. They said dat it is the African version of Hollywood & they started calling it ''Nollywood'' and that was how the name stuck. So Nairalanders, what do u guys think of the names of these African Movie Industries? .... Over to una... Plz Moderators, frontpage!!! ![]() |
Well..... Since the Federal Govt has refused to build a Nollywood Film City in Enugu or Lagos, then the Nollywood dat we see is located in 3 different parts of Nigeria.... 1)51 Iweka Road, Onitsha. Dat place is the peak of Nollywood in Nigeria, talking about marketing & distribution of movies. 2)1/3 Pound Road Aba & 3)Ebinpejo Lane, Idumota Lagos. So anytime u travel out of Nigeria and people ask u where Nollywood is located in Nigeria, just tell dem any of these places in Onitsha, Aba & Lagos cos they are d hubs for movie marketing in Nigeria!! Maybe soon, d govt will build a standard Nollywood Film City in Enugu or Lagos just like they have in Mumbai India. |

Spanking New Jam..... Stormrex is on her way to Super Stardom!!! Started from Enugu, now she's getting there.... Just like Flavour Nabania!!!! |
Stormrex the Enugu First Lady in Music is back with the remix to her Hit single Kerenke. But dis time she featured the Ebgeripapa 1 of Bayelsa!! Just imagine what Stormrex & Timaya can do a korrect beat. I like the way they changed the beat but still retains the sweetness of d original song. Dis is how a remix should be done. And i started liking his songs cos of Ololufe. But people should know dat Dbanj is not a singer nor rapper, so u guys shouldnt expect more frm him. |

omar22: Kukere is heard WORLDWIDE!!!Ok, noted. |
Uyi Iredia: 'Do Me' kills and buries 'Kukere' visually and audio-wise. Ok noted. Datz a good one. |
Ok Nairalanders, make we yarn. P Square's Do Me or Iyanya's Kukere, which of these 2 songs was a bigger Hit both in Nigeria & across Africa.. Keep yo views coming... |
Are these guys P Square's competition? I see similarities between them and i also see TALENT !!! |
Dis girl's voice serenades my soul.... Good music breaks boundaries.... Ugandan Urban music right here... |
Dis song is still rocking radio stations and the clubs.... Wrecking damages on the dancefloor!! Nani Boi on the verses, Stormrex on the chorus & Dekumzy murdered the beat!! |
Still feeling dis Nwakezi song!!!! Talent no dey hide himself..... |
mikeapollo: Go and watch the Kukere video again.....most of the dance steps in the video(apart from Iyanya's video crew members) were Ghanaians(including the small boy) dancing Azonto which Iyanya copied/downloaded directly from Youtube.#SMH for you... E be like say dem really swear for you with dis Azonto tin. How Azonto take com enta dis thread again oo,hmmm see gobe oo. Plz Sir i know u love ur country Ghana so much, but can u please take ur contribution to GhanaWeb cos dis is Nairaland. Or better still, if it will make u sleep better dis nite, yes Iyanya's Kukere is copied from Azonto infact the whole Nigerian music is copied from Azonto.. Kele Kele love, aboki, bad guy p, olamide's voice of the street, banky w's yes/no are all copied from Azonto!! Lmao!! Shey dis go make u feel better? @Abagworo my broda plz dont waste ur time replying dis boy. If u go all thru his posts, its always about dis Azonto thing, abt who copied who. Dont bother with him. |
Put on your dancing shoes & dance away your sorrows!!! Dis song is doing damages in the Clubs.... Dis is a very catchy Naija pop song or Afro Beat as Oyinbo dem go call am. K-Deep is an Enugu artiste & he featured the best of Enugu musicians in dis massive remix to his Odogwu song. The artistes featured are Selebobo, Veecko Kyngz, Iloks Shady, Effect MC & Peace Maker. All of dem killed dis very catchy party track!!! Download http://mizsunshine.com/2013/06/13/music-k-deep-ft-coall-city-allstars-odogwu-remix/
|
mikeapollo: The beat underneath the song is clearly AZONTO beat....which is basically a fast-tempo Highlife with funkified rhythms. The so called 'Kukere beat' itself is was adapted from Azonto....Iyanya used a lot of Azonto stuff ( e.g the beat, dance, online youtube video clips etc) in his Kukere song and video. And how did Azonto come enter dis discussion? Dis boy u really need help, na real wa for you oo. We are talking PERSONALLY, u are talking Azonto. Abeg no derail dis thread if u no get anything to say. |
I cant help laughing at the comments... Lol Well different strokes for different folks... The song is good, it will definitely grow on many people but the video is da bomb!! Big ups to P Square & all the top artistes reppin Naija... |
