Nigeria’s former Minister of state for Education, Mr. Nyesom Wike, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Rivers state.

Wike scored 1083 votes out of a total of 1108 delegates votes.

The primaries which was characterized by Controversy as 17 out of the 24 aspirants cleared to contest the election boycotted the event held in Community Secondary School, Nkpolu in Port Harcourt. Only seven of the aspirants attended

“My victory is victory for democracy,” he said. “I will reclaim the stolen mandate of the PDP and recover what is rightly ours in rivers state. The era of rascality and impunity has caused Rivers state dearly. Today, the state enjoys a pariah status,” Wike said

Wester Ports Comand of the Nigeria Police has raised the alarm over threat by the Boko Haram sect to bomb Lagos, with the nation’s seaport in Apapa as its likely target.This was disclosed by the commissioner of Police in charge of the Western Ports Command, Mrs Hilda Ibifuro-Harrison during the inauguration ceremony of new executives of the Maritime Reporters’ Association of Nigeria (MARAN) in Apapa, Lagos.

Ibifuro-Harrison revealed that intelligence report received by the force three months ago holds that the dreaded Boko Haram insurgents could be planning to launch attacks in Lagos state with the seaport possibly being their target.

During the speech, Ibifuro-Harisson who was represented by the Assistant Commissioner in charge of administration, Salem Machree said, “We are not taking the threat lightly at all and we encourage all stakeholders who visit the port to keep their eyes and ears open in case of the activity of the sect.”

Altough she further disclosed that security measures had been employed within the state especially seaport areas in order to avoid the impeding danger.

She further reinstated the resolve of the force to ensure that the activities of the insurgents are nipped in the bud.

A representative of the Customs Comptroller General, Comptroller Frances Enwereuzor, who also spoke at the event congratulated the new executives of MARAN.

She opined that the “role of the media in the development of the maritime sector could not be overemphasized and must be discharged with great sense of responsibility and dedication to duty.”

Maiduguri – At least 45 people were killed in a suspected Boko Haram attack in northeast Nigeria, officials and witnesses said on Thursday, in the latest violence to hit the restive region.

The attack happened in the village of Azaya Kura in the Mafa area of Borno state on Wednesday, the caretaker chairman of Mafa local government area, Shettima Lawan said, calling it “wicked and despicable

On October 26, suspected Boko Haram fighters abducted about 30 boys and girls, some of them as young as 11 and 13, while locals complained of almost daily raids that had forced many to flee.
Some 29 people were killed in March this year after flyers were sent warning of an impending attack — a tactic used by the extremists elsewhere in the region in their quest for a hardline Islamic state.

In the latest attack, heavily armed militants arrived on motorcycles at about 12:00 pm (1100 GMT) on Wednesday as villagers were at work.
“So far, 45 men have been killed and there are others that died in the bushes as a result of bleeding from bullet wounds,” said on resident, who gave his name only as Jabiru.
Trader Musa Abbani, who fled to Maiduguri, added: “The attackers destroyed more than half of the houses in our village, burnt over 50 motorcycles and four cars before they took away foodstuff and animals.”
A village elder, Mohammed Bukar, said: “We are still picking our pieces and looking for our missing people, especially those who could not be seen in Maiduguri.”
Survivors, most of them the elderly, were seen making preparations to bury the dead.
Fifty people were said to have been injured and locals said the militants, who have said to have captured more than two dozen northeast towns, blocked exits to prevent people fleeing.
Lawan, who visited Azaya Kura on Thursday under tight security, said: “How can some people be so wicked to kill innocent people, 45 people at once without any confrontation?

“There is no compulsion in religion and I am still searching for the motive behind mass killing and destruction by some people under the guise of entrenching certain religion.
“I wish to appeal to the Federal Government to take urgent steps and rescue our people from imminent extinction.”

Those two software only give "ready-made" meshes and rigs.
Mixamo is not the way to go. Let's say you have a specific character to model and animate that was originally developed as part of a brand- say, indomie's indomitables for instance. You would be in a fix cos, those characters are not a part of the library that comes with mixamo.
Makehuman.org on the other hand is a little more flexible but you must learn python (programming language) to make really fundamental changes to the model.
Don't forget that the human characters are just a part of your scene. You should consider your client's custom models and environment.
Software like these are just to introduce you to the 3d modeling/animation world. If you want to get right to business, you should go for those ones you are trying to avoid.

You think so? He wants a short cut that will leave him in a fix later on. If he wants to make an impact on the industry, it's only fitting that he chooses tools that are industry standard. He needs tools that can be exchanged with other professionals.
Imagine someone working in your firm who only uses Microsoft Paint for graphics. How would he share knowledge sseamlessly with you who use Corel?
That's what I want to guide him away from.

now lets talk about the Blender.. where can i get tuts for character animation for Blender.. or how can i download videos from digitaltutors and lynda. i have subscribefor both. but don't know how to download the videos for offline viewing.. Now you know what i want..

Lol. Now that you have clarified that, I would still ask you to go for blender if you want a software that is industry standard yet free. There are tons of free human (and other) models that you can download for blender. You don't have to model everything from scratch.
When choosing a software, you should consider the user community. Blender, Maya, C4D, max, lightwave, etc all have large user communities. If you require assistance, there are a lot of resources available online.

For freeware go for Blender. Tons of tutorials out there. Also, there's a thread for blender newbies here on NL.
