A violent husband bit off his wife's nose after she refused to pay his expensive dowry and moved out of their home. According to reports, Raj Kumari and her husband Shiv Prasad got married two years ago but separated last year, following his continuous luxury dowry demand of £1,800 and brand new motorbike. The 21 year old lady, who moved to her parent’s house in Lakhimpur after separating from her 23 year old husband, claims that the shocking incident took place on her way to school on Tuesday, when he ran towards her and grabbed her before biting off her nose after failed attempts to bring her back home. After the said incident, Shiv ran away before she called her family to the scene and they quickly arrived and took her to a Medical clinic where it was confirmed that she lost a portion of her nose. According to reports, Raj Kumari who was later arrested that same day by policemen from Gola Police Station explained that he only attacked her because of the way she dresses to school and for also refusing to return home with him. http://www.aksmedias.com.ng/2016/11/husband-bites-off-wifes-nose-because.html Lalasticlala

Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom state has sacked at least five thousand teachers in the state, Premium Times reports. According to the report, the affected teachers were recruited under the administration of Godswill Akpabio, former governor of the state. It was gathered that the governor decision to sack the teachers comes on the heels of lapses noticed in the recruitment process of the affected teachers. Governor Udom said that fake appointment letters were issued to the teachers who were not qualified. He said: “It was discovered that the syndicate which had since been apprehended was involved in printing fake letters of appointment and fake school certificates at outrageous amounts ranging from 150,000 to 200,000 naira. “Even the bible says if the foundation is not right, what can the righteous man do? We have tried to see how we could get something out of that recruitment process, but believe me, the foundation was very faulty. “If we are putting people to teach our children, please let us leave sentiments apart and go for the right people. We need to make sure they went through the right process and have the right qualifications.” However, the governor assured affected persons who have the necessary qualifications of been considered at the commencement of fresh recruitment. He said: “We are assuring the 5,000 people that they need not worry, when we are calling for aptitude test, you need not re-apply, just walk into the venue of the exercise with that appointment letter and justify that you are qualified to teach our children.” The cancellation of the teacher’s appointment was first announced few days ago by the Head of Civil Service in the state, Ekereobong Akpan, before the latest remark by the governor. It is believed to be an unexpected blow to the affected teachers who for about two years now have been putting pressure on the government to assign them to public secondary schools across the state. http://www.aksmedias.com.ng/2016/11/governor-udom-emmanuel-sacks-5000.html Lalasticlala

Segun Elegbede, a farmer, has died in the custody of police officers, from Magbon police division, Ogun state, seven days after he was arrested by the police. Segun with his children The 42-year-old Egbede was reportedly tortured before he was abducted by a team of policemen from the Anti-Robbery Squad of the state, who invaded Ajibawo village in the Ado-Odo/Ota local government area of the state. The policemen were alleged to have looted shops in the community after which they descended on the victim. It was learned that the police reportedly called the member of the deceased’s family on the telephone that Egbde was dead and his corpse had been deposited in a morgue. An eyewitness in the area Modinat Akinola said no one knew the reason for the attack which occurred on October 14, 2016, adding that her shop was among those looted by the policemen. ”On that day, I saw about four policemen around 3pm; they came in a commercial bus. Suddenly they started shooting, and everybody fled. ”I tried to hide inside my shop with my two children. Other policemen later arrived in a patrol van. They broke into my shop and damaged my refrigerator and other electronics. ”They took away my phones, recharge cards, ATM cards, money, canned malt, tin milk and bottled drinks, among others. The value of everything is about N400,000. A man, who was sleeping in the house beside my shop, was attacked and taken away that day,” she said. Akinola said she later reported the incident at the Atan Ota police station. The wife of the victim, Fatimoh Elegbede, said she was not around, adding that she was alerted to the attack around 5pm. ”When I got back to the community, everywhere was deserted. When I entered our house, I saw that it had been vandalized. ”When I got to Magbon Police Division, I was not allowed to see my husband; they kept asking me to exercise patience. After seven days, the police called my husband’s sister that she should come for his corpse,” she added. The family lawyer, John Aina, described the incident as unfortunate, saying the police had refused to disclose where the corpse of the victim was deposited. Aina, who had petitioned the Ogun state commissioner of police Ahmed Iliasu, said the police must investigate the death and bring the perpetrators to book. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GCDuuUUi7w http://www.aksmedias.com.ng/2016/11/police-loot-community-torture-farmer-to.html Lalasticlala

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday said any Nigeria who has another country to relocate to is free to do so. On his part, he said he would stay back to solve the nation’s position. According to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the President spoke while addressing Niger Delta stakeholders at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. “We are determined to make life comfortable and affordable to all Nigerians. If anybody has a country to go to, let him go, we will stay here and salvage our country,” Shehu quoted the President as saying. Buhari was said to have told the leaders of the Niger Delta that they had more to do than anyone else to bring peace to the region, given the influence they have on militant groups. He expressed the determination of his administration to stay focused on its key campaign promises of securing the country, fighting corruption and creating jobs through the improvement of the economy. He said peace, security, investment and prosperity are linked together, adding that “if we give peace a chance, investors will come here to invest. Nobody will invest in an insecure environment.” Buhari said the problems his administration found on the ground were many, as illustrated in collapse of oil prices, inability of 27 of the 36 states to pay salaries, absence of savings to fall back and having to deal with an elite who didn’t seem to care. All these, he said, made his government to conclude that, “life as usual is no longer affordable.” In welcoming the 16-point request presented for negotiation by the Niger Delta leaders, Buhari said he was still expecting reports from officials he had instructed to review the implementation of the Amnesty programme to determine where government fell short so that amends can be made. The President said the service chiefs were putting together their own assessment of the militancy situation, saying “when I have these reports, including this one (just presented), we will revisit the situation (in the region) to ensure that we succeed this time.” The President who delivered his report card on the war against corruption and the efforts to secure the country repeated his call to the Niger Delta leaders to join the administration in bringing peace to the troubled region. http://www.aksmedias.com.ng/2016/11/leave-nigeria-if-you-have-another.html Lalasticlala
