I would strongly advise those asking questions related to which documents they submitted and didn't submit to go try and get everything they asked for to show them during your interview. Arm yourself properly. You all know what to do. I know it may be seem a little funny far-fetched of difficult but it may impress your interviewers if you at least knew how to say at least a 'good morning' (Günaydın - pronounced Gew-nai-dun' 'hello'(Merhaba-pronounced Mer-hah-bah/Selam pronounced Se-lam) or 'thank you'(Teşekkür Ederim-pronounced Tesh-eh-kewr eh-deh-reem) in Turkish. It may make them smile and show you are committed to learning. Use the internet to your full advantage to learn a few more words ıf you can and how ıts pronounced. Good Luck.

Wow! I am genuinely excited for all of you who were called. I had no idea things will move this fast. Y'all are lucky and blessed. Do not fret, be calm and respond to all questions as truthfully and aptly as you can. These people do not enjoy long English sentences especially if your accents are difficult to understand so try to be very terse and concise with your answers and be as clear as possible. Unfortunately during my time I had no interview so I cannot tell you what to expect or do. But I can assure you, they are set to select a great number of candidates especially from Nigeria this year as last year we were only 11 that were put through out of an entire country. And no, this was not the Turkish governments fault as they actually expected more from our government. Long story. No need for the long details. Just know that if you are well qualified, you will be chosen. Based on what I hear, the budgets have been increased substantially by their government to provide you with more than enough to take care of yourself when you get here. You will not believe it until you get here and see for yourself then you will know God has done something terrific for you. Anyways, make sure you prepare well, you have ample time to gather all your documents, originals, make passports, etc before the date of your interview. Leave no stones unturned and spend the money you can get to make sure you get everything you need to indicate your seriousness to them. That is all I can tell you. This really is the best I can do for you all so far with the information I have provided about this opportunity not many would have heard of in the first place. I wish I could provide more information to ensure you are much more comfortable tackling the interview process but I cant. I do not work for them nor anyone. I am just one normal kid, sitting at his computer and trying to help you guys out there. lol. Annnnnnnnnyways, I am looking forward to seeing all of you that get selected by september. God bless y'all man!

P.S: I do not reply to personal messages. I will always reply here, directly. Cheers!

dirtygamer:

But we are given the option to select our choice of course and university in the application.

Apparently the format was different this year for university selection which makes you luckier. So you are right. As for your other questions, I dont know much about the technicalities of the website application so most of it you will have to figure it out on your own or read the recent posts of your colleagues that had the grading problem issue. Goodluck.

sir rinky: just one question bro. how high is turkeys educational standard compared to say the U.K or U.S. Specifically in the field of engineering.

ESPECIALLY in the fields of Engineering and Aeronautics, Turkey has universities with very high educational standards in the entire Europe that can par with many other UK or US universities. Check out Middle East Technical University most especially which was ranked as Number 96 in the 2012 Times Edition of Worlds Top 100 universities http://www.timeshighereducation.co.uk/world-university-rankings/2011-2012/reputation-rankings.html Also, Istanbul Technical University too is a highly rated institution for Engineering as well. And most of the universities here are still rising in status. If this isnt good enough for you, you always have the option of going to US and UK for the best of the best too. Good luck.

sir rinky: Tha.nk you very much for your selfless attitude in this matter i really appreciate it but please i want to find out from you personally.how are christians treated there in turkey? cos i know its predominantly muslim. i heard from a source that they are quite hostile to xtians and with due respect to my muslim compatriots i do not fancy thier volatile temperament in lieu to religion.

I would be very honest with you. I do not blame you. Before I myself chose to come here, I was extremely skeptical. I knew absolutely nothing about the country and felt it was a 'nowhere' country. I was wrong and Thank God I didn't listen to myself and what i had heard from other people. I have been here for almost 2 years and I have neither experienced nor heard anything like what you are concerned about. It is a highly and far more developed country than ours (unfortunately since i also love my country, Nigeria.)I live here happily as a Christian. Nobody asks you any question about your religion nor do they care. Turkey is predominantly Muslim but it is a very Secular Country. They are very westernized and open and not many of them 'seriously' practice the Muslim faith, only claim it. Just a life lesson i will give you here and I want you and many others who read this to carry this advice on to other things in Life: If you keep listening to what other people who have never directly experienced or gone to a particular place tell you, YOU WILL NEVER ACHIEVE ANYTHING GOOD FOR YOURSELF. You are young. Be open to adventures, seize opportunities and experience Life for yourself, not through the eyes and mouths of others...who always happen to be mostly wrong. Turkish people are the most hospitable in the world and there is no issue like Racism or Religious Bias here. There are many christian and huge Catholic Churches here. Go to the internet, read, watch TV, get exposed and learn things for yourself. Stop listening to hearsay. I am here with many others and we are happy and grateful we took advantage of this. I just told you all this, not only because of this opportunity in particular, but i hope you apply this to many other things you will pursue in life there in Nigeria or anywhere else in this world. Good luck.

leo89: If i apply with a valid ID card is equivalent to Internation Passport?

An international Passport will always be valued higher than anything else and you would always need it for applications like this. It is best you use it. If you dont have one, I will always advise you get one (in case of future opportunities and applications like this) but if at the moment you may not have one, use whatever else you have at your disposal. A valid NATIONAL ID card may suffice, or even a drivers license. But then again, i do not work for them so i am not certain what they would prefer. I can only advise you. Goodluck.

leo89: Fanks for your infos lately, but i still hv few questions:
1) I hv a statement of result for necos becos my certificate is not out.can i apply with the statement of result?
2) Are we writing any exams †̥ get the scholarship?

If thats what you have then i think it is worth a shot to use and apply. No, i do not think you are writing any exams. From what i read, you will only be selected based on your academic standing and quota available for the particular course you chose. Goodluck.

cconcept: pls what can u say about ege university and is it an english speaking institution?i will also like you to advise on english medium of instruction schools that specialise in agriculture(especially agricultural economics related courses) for masters and phd studies.

Ege university is a top uni here and to the best of my knowledge they offer some courses in English. But unfortunately i am not sure. I am very certain they offer a masters and phd course in agricultural economics but maybe you have to send them an email asking if it is in english. this is the webpage where you can contact them http://agr.ege.edu.tr/tarimekonomisi/en/ I do not know of any schools that specialise in Agriculture and if there were, I am pretty sure it would be offered in Turkish alone. However, you can always go on the net and do more research. I advise you to send that email and find out on time. Their contacts re on the page. Goodluck.

I actually think your WAEC is your transcript.I think that is enough proof of results for your application. Transcripts are mostly required from University graduates if i am not wrong. goodluck.

osram: plz sir,can i use birth certificate in place of international passport..and my skul dnt giv transcript,bt i av my waec computer print out and our original z nt yt out.
Your passport will eventually be required. Use whatever is available at your disposal but always know your passport is always what International applications take as Number one Priority. Eitherways, try and get your application finished for your own good. I am sorry as for your transcript issues, i have no idea exactly how that works from a secondary school level. I should think your WAEC is actually enough and you do not need transcripts. Goodluck.

jeffobodo: i have uploaded my waec result and international passport, but its asking for my transcript, and you know schools here in nigeria dont hand over transcript to individual student, what do i do ? should i go ahead and submit without uploading transcript .thanks

I am guessing you are applying for masters right? Well, if you cant have access to your transcript you must at least have a statement of result or your graduation certificate. Add that. But in order to settle all requirements I would advice you to try and get a copy of your trasncripts posted to them as soon as possible. Let me let you on a little secret. Something i did back then. I got my transcript sent to a University in The UK and eventually requested them to please scan a copy and send. That became my virtual transcript which i still use for many applications til today. Or you may request your school send it to somewhere you know and you can get it. Some schools allow students to at least get photocopies. I dont know your school but i went to a private institution so there were ways we could get it. Try and find out how for yours in case of future applications. I would think the embassy should be aware of this transcript issue and may expect at least an unofficial copy of your result while they wait for your institution to send the original to them directly. As i have said before, I dont work for them so i can only suggest what you may do based on my personal opinion. Goodluck.

I am guessing from your email address your name is Linus, i read your message and felt genuinely sad about it. You are so young and deserve a lot more than this. Unfortunately I cannot be of any assistance to you from where I am. Please try and ask friends or family around you and let them know how important this opportunity means to you. You actually have a top notch result that can grant you an 80% chance of selection with this opportunity. Let them know this. Dont waste it, find a way. Goodluck and God bless you.

trent101: Bro tanks alot 4 dis info,i want to no d age limit for those dat can apply for undergraduate scholarship because rite no i'm 22 yrs old.am i eligible 2 apply?
I cannot say. I didnt read anything about age limits on the information provided but If you asked my personal opinion, I really think that should NOT stop you from making an application and trying out for yourself. If you still feel uncomfortable doing this, then you may get in touch directly with the Embassy and ask them through the addresses i put down on the earlier posts above. Goodluck.

E_DIPO: For some reasons joaquin64, I just feel very very obliged to sincerely thank you for being so straight forward.

It takes a lot of time and personal effort to bring such info to public knowledge and still attend to individual questions.

I can only pray that God rewards your kindness.

I feel honoured to have read all your responses.

Thank you very much.

Best regards.

I appreciate this, Sir Dipo. Very encouraging. Thank you.

cconcept: pls can you tell us the schools that use english as medium of instruction for pg studies?will the absence of gre and toefl affect application for the scholarship to metu and bougazi because the website require you select universities?

Please, take your time to read every single detail in my earlier post regarding this question. I was very clear. All your answers are there. or go to http://www.4icu.org/tr/ and you will see a list of the Top Universities there. Take your time to go through them, most have english translated websites. You will have to do this yourself because you know the course you are studying. But if you have a problem, state the schools you selected and i can give u the information i know about it to the best of my knowledge. The Absence of GRE AND TOEFL WILL affect your application to METU and Boazici (although i doubt that it is strongly requested during the application process for the scholarship). I am certain of those two schools. But not for the general others. For PG student, i will advise you to research on METU, Boazici, Istanbul Technical University and Ege University. Also, from what i read, applicants can now choose to apply to private universities and there are many of them that speak English such as Koc University, Sabanci University, Bilkent University, (and also be aware that these top notch private universities require GRE and TOEFL too) just to name a few even though i am quite certain the competition to get into these Private Universities would be much harder. That shouldnt be your problem, the Government universities have a higher standing for Education here. Please look through the list of universities one by one on the website i provided, it would give you better information. There are many others but i cannot know all. Goodluck.

Turkey is a secular country. You can google and read about it. It is 98% muslim people but they respect christians here. There are many big catholic and christian churches here. This is not an issue at all and many people dont know this until they get here. And ofcourse you need your International passport when dealing with foreign applications. The earlier you get one, the better.
